The 2018 Unified State Exam campaign is coming to an end in Russia, and even the second wave of exams is coming to an end. However, checking exams takes time, and at the moment graduates are waiting for the latest results of the Unified State Exam of the first wave.

Some people already realize that they did not score enough points - much less than the student expected before taking the exams. Some people haven’t received all the results and are worried about what to do if there aren’t enough points. What if I didn’t get the required points on the Unified State Exam, is it possible to enter the institute, what other options remain for the applicant in 2018.

What do you mean you didn't get the required points?

First of all, it’s worth, of course, understanding what “few points for the Unified State Exam” means. Some of the graduates studied excellently all their lives and hoped for at least 80-90 points for each Unified State Exam, scored an average of 77 and considered that life was over. And someone has completely failed the Russian language or mathematics and risks being left without a certificate of education as such, even before college here at all.

Two situations can be considered a minor disaster:

  • the student was unable to pass one of the mandatory exams (Russian language or mathematics) and risks being left without an education document,
  • The student did not achieve the minimum Unified State Exam scores set by Rosobrnadzor (we have previously provided a table of minimum scores for each Unified State Exam on our website).

The way out of the first situation is a retake. At the moment, those schoolchildren who were unable to pass the mandatory Unified State Exam in 2018 in the first wave know about this and even managed to retake the exams in the additional stage of the Unified State Exam. The results of these Unified State Examinations will come on July 10-11.

If, based on the results of retaking the mandatory Unified State Examination, a graduate gains enough points, and his Unified State Examination results for his choice are in perfect order, he can try to enroll in a university in the same year, writes the Therussiantimes portal. If the exams are failed again, retaking is possible only in September. Of course, you can forget about the institute, at least in 2018.

If a graduate has successfully completed the mandatory Unified State Exam, but failed in one of the elective exams, and the number of points scored is below the minimum, he will not be able to enter the institute. Universities simply do not have the right to admit applicants if they provide USE results below the minimum threshold from Rosobrnadzor. Even for paid training.

The first option is to enroll in a year

There is nothing wrong with this option. Giving up at the first small difficulty, giving up higher education because of a minor failure, is not the best start to adult life. Even if a student is accustomed to having everything easily and simply, it’s time to learn how to achieve his goal.

A graduate needs to understand that missing a year is not a big deal at all. It is better to receive a higher education diploma a year later than not to have one at all. Unless, of course, it really is that important.

What to do during this year is up to you to decide depending on the situation. Most likely, young people are taking the risk of joining the army, and it will be a little easier for girls.

But the main thing you need to do this year, if you are not in the army, is to prepare diligently for retaking the Unified State Exam. The results of the exams that suit you will be valid for four years, so you can focus on a problematic subject, in which the Unified State Exam was passed with too low scores.

Remember that graduates of previous years take the Unified State Exam earlier than the main wave - in the spring. So you will have less than one year to prepare.

The second option is to enroll in a paid department at the institute

This is a way out for those who scored few points on the Unified State Exam, but still more than the minimum that closes the way to universities.

If all options for enrolling on a budget are impossible or uninteresting, enroll in a paid department. Of course, there must be financial opportunities for this. You may have to study and work at the same time.

The third way out is to get a secondary specialized education

This solution is suitable for everyone. Even if you failed both mandatory Unified State Examinations and retaking it is impossible (and if you fail to pass two mandatory Unified State Examinations at once, this is exactly the situation), you can always use your ninth grade certificate.

With this certificate you can enter a college, technical school or other secondary educational institution. We advise you to pay attention to colleges at universities. Quite often, such colleges associated with institutes or universities are the suppliers of applicants for them.

Whether a college or technical school operates at a university or on its own, in any case, the road to a university upon completion is not closed to you.

Whatever the situation you find yourself in and how hopeless it may seem to you, in fact, if you set yourself the goal of getting a higher education, you will get it. And it is still unknown which university graduate will achieve more success - an excellent student who is used to getting everything easily or one who, by the time he received his diploma, has learned to overcome life's difficulties.

Can an eleventh-grader be retained for the second year if he failed to reach the threshold Unified State Examination scores? And what to do if the child does not receive a certificate?

From school to a bright future, full of hopes and achievements, there is only one door - successfully passing the Unified State Exam. There are no alternatives. Even if a graduate simply wants to obtain a high school diploma, without any ambitious plans for his future, he needs to pass this difficult test with dignity. Therefore, all students try to successfully pass the final test of the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during their studies at school, and at a minimum, obtain the threshold Unified State Exam scores.

What if you still failed to score the required minimum points and the exam is considered failed? What to do?

First of all, try to cope with the stress that is inevitable in such an emergency situation as quickly as possible. It’s stupid to advise not to worry, because, you see, this is just an exam. Yes, it’s an exam, but a fateful one - the future of the child, the peace of mind of the parents, who, of course, dream of his happy, prosperous, settled future depend on it. Naturally, the graduate and his parents are shocked and feel complete hopelessness, the collapse of all hopes, fear and horror. "Everything is over! Where to run? What to do? How can I improve the situation?” - the thoughts that gripped them.

Having collected in our heads all the thoughts that had scattered in different directions due to the unexpected catastrophe, and putting them in order, we quickly find out how, where and when we can retake the exam, draw up the necessary documents for this, and write applications.

Compulsory Russian language and mathematics can be retaken in the same year.

It’s more difficult with elective subjects - you can only retake them next year. What if it is in this subject that scores are required for admission to the chosen university? How can you reconcile yourself with this collapse of hopes? We are looking for at least some advantages in the current terrifying situation. We can say that passing the exam in the subject with low scores would still not help to get admitted. Now you can use the available time wisely and prepare well and purposefully, throwing all your energy and time into preparing for an exam in one (!) subject and enrolling in a free department. True, with low scores, but still having overcome the minimum threshold, you could try to enroll in a paid department and, without losing a year, improve your knowledge of the subject over the summer - but we will not think about this, since it is completely pointless.

Since the exam in the chosen subject does not affect the receipt of a certificate, that is, the child will still receive it, you can try to find another university where this subject is not taken into account for admission. You can also get a profession at a technical school.

Thus, we come to the conclusion that the situation is not completely hopeless.

Next, calmly, as far as possible in this situation, we try to find out the reasons that led to the educational collapse in a particular academic subject, in order to avoid similar mistakes in the future and successfully retake it. And accordingly we are looking for how to help the child. Don't know some topics? We urgently hire the most experienced (and therefore expensive) tutors and train them. At the same time, having solved several versions of the Unified State Examination in the subject, we will also clean up other previously unnoticed gaps in knowledge.

Do you hope that you can handle it yourself? Of course, this is less expensive for the family budget. However, such romantic thoughts were appropriate a year before the exam, but not now.

During the exam, did you fall into a stupor from excitement and worry? Couldn't collect your thoughts? Or maybe I misallocated my time and sat on one task? Again, an experienced teacher will help with time management and confidence in your strengths and capabilities. After all, if the child is convinced that he copes with all the tasks correctly and in the allotted time, success in the exam is guaranteed.

In terms of high-quality preparation for passing the Unified State Exam, teachers working in these areas in additional education organizations have extensive experience. Why? In such organizations, strict selection of personnel is carried out, teachers are constantly being trained, work is carried out according to proven approved programs that cover all the necessary material on the subject.

Passed or failed the exam, but theoretically the graduate is already considered an adult responsible for his actions or inaction. And as an adult, thinking person, a child, in fact, in parallel with preparing to retake the exam, must go to work, and come to this decision on his own.

If your beloved child categorically refuses to retake the exam, there are also options for getting a profession: you need to go to college - after all, he has a diploma of completing nine classes. This path for such a child will be the most acceptable and promising if in the future he decides to get a higher education.

Failing the Unified State Examination is a terrible shock for the whole family. But you need to find the strength to move further along the path of life. In any case, remember that, firstly, the child can retake the exam, and secondly, he already has a diploma for completing nine classes, which will allow him to get a profession and continue his education, if desired.

Good luck! Let this article be for informational purposes only, and not be one of the sources for finding a way out of the current stalemate.

Apply to a university with a lower passing test score

To get started, check out the infographics about the minimum passing scores for the 2018 CT.

As you can see, you can apply for specialties where the passing score is lower in all subjects. The choice is yours: go where you have enough points, or prepare for admission next year.

Retake the CT next year

Take into account the mistakes and prepare for the next CT more seriously. Use it, study it. Even when preparing on your own, you can. Use to rely on knowledge, not chance. Guys can enroll in preparatory courses at a university: they won’t be drafted into the army.

Enroll in a lyceum or college

If you don’t want to wait a year, go to a secondary specialized educational institution. There is no need to take the CT there, they are enrolled according to the competition of the certificate points. Look for a suitable specialty in.

Apply for a job

Why did you take the CT test anyway? Are you sure you want it? If you cannot answer these questions unequivocally, delay applying. Get a job (you may have to complete special courses), try yourself in some business. The main thing is don’t stand still, develop! And only when you understand that you need higher education, go to university.

Everyone has their own path, and Adukar completely agrees with the classic:

If the material was useful to you, don’t forget to “like” it on our social networks

Graduates have already begun to receive their Unified State Exam scores, and for many the result came as a shock. How is it possible – I spent so many years preparing, spent so much time and effort on tutors, and the scores, let’s just say, weren’t what I wanted!

To put it mildly, it's a slap in the face! - Elena, the mother of a graduate from Nizhnevartovsk, complains. - The medal-winning daughter wrote her thoughts in an essay for the Unified State Exam in Russian. And I got 0 points! And so it is with many talented students. Punished for their own opinions!

“I don’t understand how an excellent student, a participant in mathematics olympiads, can pass the Unified State Examination in this subject with 70 points,” Oksana, the mother of an 11th-grader from Kazan, shakes her head. - My son is just in some kind of trance now. Previously, I wanted to go to MIPT, I was passionate about it, but now I’m saying that I’ll go into the army, since that’s what happened.

Sometimes parents only add fuel to the fire, and, frankly, you can understand them - preparing for exams costs a pretty penny. They take it out on themselves and on their children. There have already been reports from the regions about children who committed suicide after the announcement of the exam results. But the hardest part - entering a university and waiting for results - is yet to come!

So we asked family psychologist Mikhail Zotov tell you how to survive the results of the unified exams and cope with the situation.

STRESS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

The hysteria around the Unified State Exam is now colossal. The exam is criticized by everyone: it is both too difficult and too simple, and everyone is writing it off, and the security measures are draconian.

No matter where you spit, everything is wrong! Got a hundred points? So this exam was easy! Got 20? I'm a fool myself, I should have studied better. Got caught with a cheat sheet - even more so! And no matter what grade the child receives, there will always be a reason to worry.

Even when the exam has already been passed, the graduate experiences enormous stress, Mikhail Sergeevich is sure. “Everyone has their own expectations regarding his result - parents, teachers, himself, in the end. And when these expectations do not coincide with the results, the student experiences disappointment and anger. This anger can be directed at oneself, at parents - they did not support, or at school - they did not teach.

Parents, by the way, have their own reason for dissatisfaction. So much money was spent on tutors - and all in vain, or what?

It is important for parents to capture this feeling: I have invested so much in your studies, but it turns out that everything has gone nowhere,” notes Mikhail Zotov. - It is doubly difficult for a child in such a situation: he himself is upset by his lack of success, even if he does not show it. And failure to meet parents’ expectations only aggravates this, adding feelings of guilt and shame.

In general, not emotions, but a Molotov cocktail! Add raging teenage hormones and conflict is guaranteed. As if the child didn’t have enough family quarrels.

EMERGENCY PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE

What to do in a situation when everyone is already on edge? First of all, try to accept the situation as it is. There are no ways to change Unified State Exam scores with the wave of a magic wand. Even on appeal, in the best case, they can raise the score by a couple of points - but even the most supportive commission will not turn 70 points into 100.

We need to understand the situation here and now,” continues Mikhail Sergeevich. - Yes, it’s a disappointment, but life is not over. It is important to give the child positivity and support. If a teenager did not pass the Unified State Exam or did not enter a university, this does not mean that he is bad! This only means that he prepared less than necessary.

Instead of quarrels and mutual accusations about who didn’t do what and how, it’s worth sitting down and everyone thinking about the future strategy together.

You need to talk to the teenager and think about which university you can try to enroll in,” the psychologist explains the strategy. - Immediately register where he will go if he doesn’t get there. And what will he do if he is not accepted into any of the selected universities? Maybe it makes sense to study more and retake the exams next year.

Six tips: What to do if you fail the Unified State Exam

File an appeal about disagreement with the results. This can be done within 2 working days from the announcement of the results. But it is worth remembering that an appeal can either raise or lower the grade.

Choose another specialty. Within one field of study, a university may have several specialties with different passing scores. You can submit documents where the threshold is lower.

Choose another university. It’s trivial, but if you wish, you can always re-enroll the next year, or simply transfer while maintaining the course.

Study and pass the Unified State Exam next year. Certificates with scores are valid for four years, so if your attempt fails, you can always apply using your old results.

Go to college. For many specialties - for example, designers or jewelers - there is absolutely no way without this.

Try to find a part-time job in your intended specialty. Not for the sake of money, but to immerse yourself in the profession, gain experience and understand how suitable it is for a graduate.
