Modern mobile devices cannot be imagined without touch screens. Therefore, it is necessary to decide what to do if the sensor on your phone does not work only after studying the events that led to the breakdown. The screen is the main part of modern smartphones, without which they lose all functionality.

In order to find out why the sensor on your phone does not work, you will need to carefully examine your smartphone. Sometimes problems in the phone are visible to the naked eye, for example, if the screen is broken, and in some cases the functionality may be lost for no reason. Moisture ingress, rough mechanical impact and much more can affect the serviceability of the device.
If the source lies in a software glitch, then a situation may occur where the gadget does not respond correctly to your touch. Such problems often arise due to the actions of the owner himself, who, through negligence or inexperience, made changes to the operation of the system.

Common touch screen problems

The most common reason why the touchscreen does not work is mechanical damage. Impacts and other impacts can lead to negative consequences. The most neutral will be chips; more serious problems will appear when a “cobweb” forms, in which the device can continue to function.

Since modern smartphones are quite fragile devices, even after falling from a height of human height, it stops working. If the device continues to function, and damage is caused by the formation of cracks in the case or its deformation, or the cessation of operation of part of the screen, then it is necessary to contact a specialist as soon as possible for repair work.

Another popular cause is moisture ingress. Despite the fact that the device looks like a monolithic device, it has small cracks and gaps through which liquid gets onto the main board.

Moisture and liquid entering the phone body

Moisture entering a cell phone leads to the beginning of the oxidation process of the contacts and the board. If the gadget finds itself in a similar situation, then you should not disassemble the smartphone unless absolutely necessary. The first thing you need to do is dry the device. If drying does not produce results, then it is worth taking it to a specialized repair center, which is especially true for expensive models, interference with the internal circuitry leads to irreversible consequences. During repairs, you can use a cheap replacement device that will receive calls and SMS.

Oxide Elimination

In some cases, after moisture gets inside the gadget, after a certain time it will begin to work, but poorly or incorrectly. In this case, you can try to independently eliminate the oxide that appears upon contact with the liquid.

To do this, you will need a tool with which to remove the oxide (a plastic card, a screwdriver, and so on). Also needed: alcohol, toothbrush, eraser and napkins. Before disassembling your smartphone, you need to read the instructions, which can be found on the Internet.

The cleaning procedure must be carried out carefully, as any awkward movement can lead to additional damage. The disassembled gadget must be folded onto a sheet or napkin so that it can be easily assembled, as per the drawing. Each place should be wiped with alcohol, an eraser and blotted with a dry cloth.

If traces of rust are found, it is removed with a toothbrush. The area is treated with alcohol, the remaining corrosion is removed with an eraser.

It will be especially difficult in cases where the cause is a sweet drink. Exposure to such a mixture has a chance to damage the gadget, and without the intervention of a specialist, repair will be impossible.

Stained display

If the display becomes dirty without damaging the screen, then you just need to thoroughly wipe the sensor with cleaning fluid, and then remove the remaining moisture with a dry cloth. To preserve the display, it is recommended to use a protective film that can be easily applied and removed if dirty.

Damage to the cable

Damage to the device cable is one of those causes of breakdown that cannot be fixed at home. Therefore, if the sensor sometimes does not work correctly, you should contact a specialist who can restore the device’s functionality with a guarantee.

Software glitch

  1. Reboot your smartphone. In some cases, changed software operation settings will not be applied after a system reboot.
  2. Use the built-in sensor testing program. To do this, you need to enter a combination that is unique to the device of each brand.
  3. Check the temperature of the device and place the device in favorable conditions.
  4. Check the operation of the memory card and SIM card.
  5. Boot the gadget in safe mode.

In some cases, the problem can be solved with these simple methods. If your attempts have not yielded any fruit, then you should contact the experts.

Many owners of Android devices consider the sensitivity of the sensor to be a pain point of their gadgets. It happens that the screen of your phone or tablet does not respond correctly to touches. For example, the user clicks on the lower left part of the screen, but the sensor interprets this as clicking on the upper right corner.

But the emerging problem is not at all a reason for despondency and an urgent trip to the service center. It is quite possible to try to “curb” your sensor at home by using screen calibration.

Screen calibration (also known as sensor calibration) is the setting of the display, the purpose of which is to optimize the operation and improve the response of the sensor to pressing and touching with fingers or a stylus .

And although calibrating sensors on Android is generally not necessary, it is recommended for all users of devices with both resistive and capacitive touch displays. It is advisable to calibrate resistive screens immediately after purchasing the device. With a capacitive sensor the situation is somewhat different since it is possible to check whether calibration is necessary, or whether the display will work clearly without such an operation.

To do this, you need to remove the film from the gadget’s screen, wipe it with a damp cloth (preferably a special one), and then check the sensor’s reaction. The best way to check is by typing a text message. If there are frequent typos when typing, this is a sign that the touchscreen needs to be calibrated. It should also be noted that it is quite possible that this procedure will have to be done more than once.

Before you begin the screen calibration procedure on Android, you need to find out what caused the sensor to malfunction.

  • It is quite possible that the pie eaten with tea left you with a reminder of itself in the form of traces left on the screen when answering an urgent call.
  • The proximity sensor or Air Gesture function is not working properly.
  • Using custom (not official) firmware.
  • Installing applications from dubious sources.
  • The device has been dropped, hit, or wet.
  • Replacing the touchscreen, etc.

As we know well, it is the cause that needs to be eliminated, not the effect. It is clear that if your smartphone has the “wrong” firmware installed, which was the cause of the failure, you can calibrate the sensor until you “drive the carrots”, but the desired result in this case, alas, will not be achieved.

However, even if the device does not need calibration, it will not hurt its owner to know the intricacies of setting up the touchscreen, since this is a fairly simple manipulation that does not require much time, much less a huge layer of knowledge.

To calibrate the screen of any device running on the Android operating system, you can use special programs and utilities, of which there are a sufficient number, and absolutely free. You can also access standard services found in the device menu.

Manual setting

Here it is necessary to explain that the adjustment options, including screen sensitivity, vary greatly depending on the model of your gadget, and it is quite possible that it will not be suitable in your case. The fact is that mobile device manufacturers install their own shell on top of the standard Android OS settings, while changing (or completely eliminating) the possibility of one or another setting. The calibration method for devices with standard settings is described below:

  1. Go to the settings menu.
  2. Select “Phone Settings”.
  3. Go to the “Calibration” menu, where a window will open in the form of a cross-target with a dot inside
  4. Click the center of the target three times
  5. Calibration is complete. Next, you should check the sensor using the manipulations indicated earlier.

If these steps are not relevant for you, then you need to check on the manufacturer’s website exactly how you can calibrate your device, or use a special application (read about this method below).

Using special software

At the moment, there are countless utilities and programs that help you configure the touchscreen of an Android device. Among the proven programs that have really helped many users, the following programs can be noted:

Touchscreen Calibration is a simple and free tool that can help you quickly and easily calibrate the sensor. Step by step steps:

Download the application, open it, press the “Calibrate” button:

Then, we start the calibration process by clicking on the gray field on the screen:

After that, in the gray field we execute the commands that appear in the green squares:

Unfortunately, the utility is not Russified, but what and how to do is shown quite clearly. Just in case, we suggest you watch the video

Modern touchscreen mobile phones are a generally accepted attribute of our lives. Their rich functionality and broad capabilities allow them to be used to solve many problems that are not limited to classic phone calls. The wealth of options for using such devices leads to their gradual failure, and one of the common failure options is the dysfunction of the sensor on the phone, when the latter simply stops responding to presses (or reacts extremely poorly). In this article I will tell you what the reasons for this dysfunction are and what to do if the sensor on your phone does not work.

Reasons for phone sensor failure

Let's look at common reasons why a phone's sensor fails. They may be as follows:

The sensor on the phone does not respond, what should I do?

To restore normal functionality of your phone's sensor, do the following:

*#7353# - for most Android phones, especially Samsung;

*#*#3424#*#* - for most HTC phones;

*#*#7378423#*#* - for most Sony Xperia phones;

*#0*# - for most Motorola phones.

In the menu that appears, select, for example, “TSP Dot Mode”, and by clicking in different areas of the screen, see which parts of the sensor are not polled, this can help fix the problem in which the touchscreen does not work.

Restoring the sensor through safe mode

To boot into safe mode, turn off the phone completely (including by removing the battery). Then, long press the Power button to turn on the gadget. When the Samsung, Nexus, LG, etc. logo appears on the screen, press the Power button and then hold down the Volume Down button. Press this button when your device boots up, and you will see the inscription “Safe mode” at the bottom left of the screen.

Conclusion

If the sensor on your phone does not work, then I recommend using the tips I listed above. If it is impossible to identify the specific cause of the breakdown, I recommend taking your gadget to a service center - it is quite possible that your device will need a complete replacement of the touch panel.

The touchscreen (sensor) on an Android phone or tablet does not work well. The touchscreen (sensor) works on its own, it works some time after pressing, it is dull, lags, and does not work correctly. What to do and how to fix it?

Many users encounter a problem when their Android phone or tablet starts acting up. It seems that it didn’t fall anywhere and wasn’t “watered” with anything, but it doesn’t work as it should.

Free legal advice:

For example, the device has problems with the touchscreen, i.e. the touch input (“sensor”) does not work correctly. The reason for this may be:

1st: Software failure - i.e. the problem is a software glitch

2nd: Hardware failure - i.e. the problem is in the hardware (i.e., replacement or restoration of spare parts for the gadget is required)

However, do not rush to get upset - in 90% of cases with problems with the touch input (touchscreen) of a smartphone or tablet based on Android, a software glitch is to blame, which you can easily fix on your own.

Fixing a software glitch:

Free legal advice:

Method 1. Quite simple - go to “settings”, find “backup and reset” there, in which you select a complete reset with deletion of all data. Be careful, using this method is often effective, but it entails deleting all photos, contacts, passwords, music, games, videos and, in general, all information stored on your smartphone or tablet. Therefore, first save everything you need by connecting the gadget to your computer. If this method does not suit you, or if after this the problem is not resolved, see Method 2.

It is based on solving problems with communication and network reception of Android phones and tablets by introducing additional software. Utilities that control all processes inside gadgets. Today, there are quite a lot of them, however, the fewer functions an application contains, the more effective it is, as a rule. The best way to monitor system functions, corrects, and correct all possible settings and synchronization errors is a small, easy-to-use, free utility for Android-based devices Multi Cleaner. You can download the application from Google Play and see its additional options in the description HERE. After installing the application, all that remains is to launch it. Further, in principle, nothing more is required from you. The application will take full control of the device's functions. (By the way, among other things, the gadget will begin to charge 20% faster, and its performance will also increase significantly, which will affect the loading speed and operation of all applications, games, and the system as a whole. On average, after scanning, the system runs at 50% faster.)

Changing the device software, or as it is also called “flashing”. This method, as a rule, requires certain skills and can be solved by contacting the Service Center. To carry out this task yourself, you need to contact the website of the manufacturer of your device, download the utilities necessary for flashing the firmware and the firmware itself, and then reinstall it on your gadget.

If none of the methods brings results, unfortunately, you will have to contact the Service Center to repair your tablet or smartphone.

The sensor on the phone does not work: what to do

A touch screen device is functional and practical. Unfortunately, the reliability of such screens is low and the question of what to do if the sensor on your smartphone stops responding is very often asked on various forums.

Since the phone no longer has control buttons, all functions of the device are lost in one second. Troubles usually begin after the mobile phone is dropped or moisture gets inside, or it may stop working on its own, as happens with Chinese phones.

Reasons for the touchscreen not working

There are various reasons that can lead to such a malfunction:

Free legal advice:

The phone's memory is overloaded and the device does not have enough resources to process clicks.

In the video, the sensor on the phone does not work, what to do:

Display dirty

Over time, the sensor may become covered with fingerprints or grease. This leads to deterioration in the sensitivity of the touchscreen. You need to thoroughly wipe the screen with a special liquid and a dry cloth.

Unsuitable temperature conditions

A sudden change in temperature may cause the device to stop working.

The cable is damaged or has come loose

It provides a connection to the touch surface. You can solve this problem yourself with a small screwdriver if your phone is out of warranty. If you have a warranty card, of course, go to a service center.

Free legal advice:

Due to moisture getting into the phone

When liquid gets inside the gadget, oxidation occurs. Try drying your device with a hairdryer.

Oxidation of contacts

This problem can be eliminated by careful cleaning.

Software failure

You need to reflash the device. To do this you need to have software and a USB cable.

How to reanimate a sensor at home

The very first thing to do is to restart the phone, while removing the battery and SIM card. Sometimes you need to reset your phone to factory settings. If a deep reboot does not help, then when taking further actions you need to understand all the risks and responsibilities.

Free legal advice:

In some phones, to get to the buttons you will need to disassemble the entire body of the device, and for this you need to study the sequence of disassembling the device. Without knowing this, there is a possibility of damaging the device, and the cost of repairs will be much more expensive.

Armed with special tools, carefully remove the touch screen. After this, you need to carefully inspect the cables and connectors. The operation of all functions of the device depends on their integrity. If there is no damage, then simply disconnect the display from the board and connect it back.

Since the phone has already been disassembled, carefully wipe the dirty contacts on the board with a cotton swab and alcohol and put the phone back together.

This clever way makes it easy to put it in place.

When all the screws are tightened and the assembly is complete, you can install the battery and turn on the phone.

Free legal advice:

If after all the manipulations no changes have occurred, and the touchscreen still does not work, then replacing the touch glass will help you. This is something that is extremely undesirable to do at home and you cannot do without a service center.

You can find out how to find a person by photo on the Internet using your phone or tablet by reading this article.

You need to monitor your touchscreen phone and handle it more carefully than a push-button phone.

Do not drop it and do not allow moisture to get inside, and then you will encounter such problems less often.

I have the same problem..tell me what to do?

Phone Samsung s 7262, the screen was accidentally pressed, the sensor began to glitch, when entering words without touching the screen, it happens that he presses the letters himself, you have to turn the screen off and on

Hello everyone, there were similar problems with the Samsung Gakaxy Tab 3, the phone tablet fell a lot and in fact the whole body looked like it was after a bombing. Over time, the sensor began to fail, namely, when the processor overheated, the screen stopped responding; it worked, but did not respond to touches. I disassembled it at home, completely checked the processor myself and didn’t understand anything, but after reassembly everything worked fine. Yesterday, after an “accidental” hit on the screen, this problem arose again. I tried to solve it by blowing out the cable, blew it out, connected it, worked for several hours, and closed it in the morning. No matter how much I blew into it or picked at this cable, it didn’t matter to him, I had to peel off the screen and get to the screen chip. As it turned out, the blow was straight to this very chip. Another cable was connected there, I removed the film, took out the cable, inserted it back - it didn’t work. Well, I think that’s it, I’ll have to fork out the cash, but I remembered that there was a video on YouTube where a guy sprayed electric current from a lighter on the screen so that some areas would return to working condition, I decided to try: I punched the main loop, it didn’t work, I punched the chip loop, it didn’t work, I fucked up the chip electric shock, the sense is back. I’ll say right away: this may be a simple luck, and in your case it will not help, especially for those who have a non-removable panel, but often breaking through some elements saves the life of the equipment. Don’t repeat this on new phones, and especially on those that have a warranty, but for those who like to experiment and who don’t really need their device, go for it, maybe it can! All the best and cookies, maybe it helped someone.

Hi all. I have a Samsung A3. After rebooting the phone it starts working. What reasons should there be and how to fix it. Thank you in advance.

Proximity sensor sometimes does not work.

My phone works, when they call me, music plays but I can’t receive the call. I can turn up the volume but I only hear vibration. The screen doesn’t work, it just turned off (the screen).

I am also Chinese. As soon as Wi-Fi is turned on, the screen turns off, but then after 3-5 minutes it turns on. What nonsense, the phone is 1 month old.

Hello, my sensor doesn’t work, I don’t know why. I was just sitting in the browser and wanted to go to the main menu, froze, rebooted, and in the place where the control panel (at the bottom of the screen) doesn’t work anymore, I rebooted 10 times and I don’t want to reset the factory settings ( too much music, photos, applications, etc.) what to do now. (Supra) flattener)

After replacing the touchscreen, it sometimes freezes and you cannot unlock the screen or hang up until you press the power button a couple of times, then it will work, but it works fine without glitches. What could be the problem.

Hello! The Meizu M3 laptop phone worked fine for a year, today I went into WhatsApp and it started to glitch, the second and third pages of the desktop do not open, only the first. It immediately became hot at the top, it does not respond to the “reboot” command. I turned off, turned on and the ENTIRE desktop disappeared! Doesn’t react to anything at all. I didn’t drop the phone or bathe it in water. What could this be? What should I do now? I’m crying, help!

Android slows down: causes and solutions to the problem

Every owner of a smartphone or tablet immediately after purchase is very happy with the speed at which his device works. All operations are performed quickly, touch responses are timely and without glitches with pictures. But over time, everything changes and performance deteriorates. Why is Android slow?

Main reasons

Among the reasons why Android slows down or freezes, there are several main ones:

  • slowdown can be caused by a large number of simultaneously running applications, albeit in the background;
  • due to a recent update, a smartphone that previously did not slow down may begin to do so;
  • any device can freeze even when it starts to run out of free space;
  • a small amount of RAM can even cause the gadget to spontaneously reboot;
  • Sometimes the phone may glitch due to problems with the touchscreen.

What should you do if your phone starts to slow down for one of the reasons listed above?

Solutions to the problem

When the phone starts to slow down a lot due to power-hungry applications and background processes, then to correct the situation you need to:

  • hold down the menu button, a list of recently launched applications will open, select “Delete all”;
  • in the Application Manager, view the list of running ones (opposite each one the operating time and the amount of RAM it occupies are indicated) and forcefully stop each one that is not needed at the moment;
  • Additionally, you can remove live wallpapers and widgets, which also greatly affect the productivity of the device;
  • It is better to remove applications that the owner of the gadget does not use altogether in order to avoid running their processes in the background in advance.

Rolling back an update

Why does my device slow down after the update? The fact is that over time, any smartphone or tablet becomes outdated, and each new version of software or Android with its additions requires more and more powerful hardware.

  1. Via Recovery. First you need to download the required firmware version to your phone and save it on your memory card. Then enter Recovery (usually using a combination of the power button and the volume rocker down). Next, install the downloaded update and reboot the phone.
  2. Through a computer. To do this, you need to download the installation file from the manufacturer’s official website and, using the software supplied with the phone (usually on a disk), install it on a gadget connected to a PC.

After this, it is advisable to disable the automatic system update function on your phone so that you do not have to repeat the procedure. You should also remember that after flashing the phone, all data may be lost, so it is better to make a backup first.

Free up internal memory and storage space

When a device runs out of RAM, it tries to replenish it using internal memory. If its volume is too small, the phone may refuse to perform any actions. In this regard, you need to periodically perform the following actions:

  • clear system and application cache;
  • by resorting to special applications, clean the system itself (this will terminate background processes);
  • synchronize media files on the cloud or with another drive and clean them from your device;
  • do not forget to carry out the same actions with a flash drive, because... A small amount of free memory on it also affects the performance of the device.

Sometimes when you run out of RAM, it’s enough to simply reboot your phone.

Screen calibration

What to do if the sensor on your phone is faulty? In this case, you need to configure the problematic display to correctly execute commands after shaking your fingers or stylus. Otherwise known as screen calibration.

This need arises more often after mechanical damage or contact with water. And to be sure that it is the sensor on Android that is problematic, you need to:

  • remove the film;
  • Try to enter any character on the keyboard.

If a different number or letter pops up, the touchscreen will have to be calibrated. You can configure the sensor sensor using special programs (for example Touchscreen Repair), or manually. In the Play Market you can find a large number of necessary applications, and they are free.

Self-calibration is carried out as follows:

  • In your phone settings, go to the “Display” tab;
  • find the item whose name will say “calibration”;
  • put the phone on a flat surface and press calibrate (in some models the phone will offer a target, the center of which must be hit at least 3 times);
  • reboot the gadget and check the response again.

On the LG L90 smartphone, the calibration item was found in the “General” tab, “Gestures” item.

Video “Calibrating the Android touchscreen”

You can clearly see both methods of screen calibration in this video.

Calibrating the Android screen, or rather the sensor, is a typical task; it can be done through the engineering menu. Actions that relate to the formulation - calibrating the Android screen include setting up the touch-type display in order to properly execute commands by the device by touching the sensor with a stylus or fingers. Without such a setup, the device will work, but a number of undesirable consequences will arise when operating the gadget.

Some owners of devices running the Android operating system that are equipped with touch screens may sometimes encounter the unwanted problem of “disobedience” of the screen. In other words, when you touch a certain point on the touchscreen with a stylus or finger, the gadget perceives it as a completely different command.

Or there are situations when the sensor executes commands only after the third or fourth attempt. As a rule, the cause of these problems is the incorrect operation of the screen itself, for which it is necessary to calibrate the touchscreen of the device.

Urgent and correct calibration of the touchscreen on Android may be required in almost all cases if the smartphone has been dropped from any height, and after the device accidentally falls into the aquatic environment, this procedure is mandatory.

Also, calibration of the sensor on Android will be required after repair work on replacing the screen, the appearance of a water stain under the glass of the screen, and after suffering other, at first glance, minor damage.

To check the need for this procedure, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Remove the special film protecting the screen (to ensure maximum correct operation of the sensor);
  2. Enter any letter or number;
  3. If there is a discrepancy between the button pressed on the gadget screen and the information typed, setting up the touchscreen is necessary.

Basic calibration methods

Two methods are used to bring a sensor-sensor that has been knocked out of its normal position into compliance.

These main methods include:

  • Using special programs for the Android system;
  • Self-correction.

It should be noted that for many brands (Samsung, HTC, Nokia and other Android devices) the calibration steps are practically no different from each other and are identical.

Manufacturers of Android devices, as a rule, can use two types of sensor:

  • Resistive (with a screen made using this technology, all sorts of problems very often arise, so the setting is more in demand here, but such screens are practically not used today - these systems can only be seen in budget or already outdated models);
  • Capacitive (used in most gadgets, it is more reliable and of higher quality).

Touchscreen calibration using Android

If you do not have access to the Google Play assortment, the display of your Android device can be configured in another way without any problems.

Step-by-step instructions in this case might look like this:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu in the gadget;
  2. Select “Phone settings;
  3. Find the inscription “Calibration, press the button;
  4. A cross target with a dot inside will appear on the screen;
  5. Click on this center of the target that appears at least three times.

After these steps, the device will automatically remember the touches. Thus, the calibration will be considered completed. After completing the setup procedure, you need to check the operation of the touchscreen by pressing a certain character on the screen, which should appear after its input.

Android screen calibration apps

You can configure the sensor using special software. The necessary software to successfully carry out this process can be found freely and freely available on the Internet.

The programs are quite simple to install and operate. But the most important thing is that you can get a positive and effective result from using almost any of them. In the Google Play store you can find free software applications such as Bubble and many others.

Application
The most popular screen calibration app on Android. Just a few taps on the smartphone screen and the screen is calibrated - you just need to restart the phone and enjoy the accurate operation of the device’s touchpad.

Possible calibration problems

If, however, the device is not calibrated using the method chosen for this purpose, or the application used does not give the necessary positive changes, then experts recommend trying another program; fortunately, there are quite a lot of them, software in this direction is very diverse. You can also try “Hard reboot” or in other words rebooting the device.

The last option for calibration is to contact a service center. A similar problem with the device screen can be caused not only by incorrect settings, but also by more serious reasons. In particular, in hardware failure of device elements or the presence of manufacturing defects. In this case, it is more advisable to contact specialists to troubleshoot the problem.

It should also be noted that, together with screen calibration, the gadget may need to check and adjust the screen sensitivity parameters for its subsequent high-quality operation.

Checking and adjusting sensitivity settings

The sensitivity of the sensor is adjusted according to the activity that is supposed to be performed on the gadget.

To do this, in the device applications you need to select:

  1. Options;
  2. Special abilities;
  3. Screen sensitivity;
  4. Choose from the proposed options.

Important: You can test the screen settings without gloves or wearing them, depending on the planned use of the gadget.
