Each of us connects an input device to our PC. But what if it doesn't work correctly? You need to download drivers for the Windows 10 keyboard. This is one of the main computer control devices. Thanks to it, we can enter characters, write messages, search for necessary information, play, and so on.

All ways to download Keyboard driver

So, you connected the input device, restarted the PC, however, it does not work correctly. Let's look at methods to download a keyboard driver for Windows 10.

Automatic installation

The new operating system itself detects connected devices and selects software. All you need to do is connect the keyboard.

device Manager

If you have connected an input device to your computer, but nothing happens, then:

  1. Right-click on the start menu.
  2. A context menu will open. Select "Device Manager".
  3. In the window that appears, find the unidentified device.
  4. Right-click on it and select "Update driver".
  5. Click on "Automatically search for updated drivers".

  6. The system itself will find, download and install keyboard drivers for Windows 10 on your laptop or computer.

    Driver.ru

There is a huge database of software for various driver.ru devices on the Internet. All you need to know is your keyboard model:

A4Tech is a well-known manufacturer of keyboards and other computer peripherals. Its devices are improved from time to time, and they also update the software that is needed to support the functionality of the device - the driver. In modern versions of Windows, updating drivers for important system components (the keyboard is one of them) occurs in the background and practically does not interfere with the user.

However, this does not always happen and due to the fact that the keyboard has not received the necessary driver updates, various problems may arise. In this article we will look at how you can independently update the drivers for the keyboard from the manufacturer A4Tech.

How to find and install keyboard drivers from A4Tech

It is worth clarifying that for keyboards that have non-standard functionality and a set of keys, it is imperative to install drivers and additional software manually, since the system sometimes does not always correctly recognize this device. As for ordinary standard keyboards, usually the system itself detects everything correctly and installs the necessary software in the background.

Option 1: Through the official website of the manufacturer

First of all, when installing drivers, you need to go to the manufacturer’s official website and try to install them from this resource. For A4Tech products, the step-by-step instructions will look like this:

  1. Go to the official software download page for A4Tech devices.
  2. Some antivirus programs block the manufacturer's official page because they suspect that it may contain malware and/or other unwanted software. Fortunately, the official website is completely safe. If you have problems with your antivirus, simply disable it while performing the steps. Typically, modern antivirus programs rarely work on this site.
  3. On the page you need to select the category to which your device belongs. This is done through a drop-down menu. Since we are looking for drivers for keyboards, pay attention to the sections “Wired Keyboards”, “Sets and Wireless Keyboards” and “Gaming Keyboards”. Select one of these sections that best suits the keyboard you are currently using.
  4. Now indicate the model of your keyboard in the special field. If you don’t know it, then look it up on the keyboard itself. It is usually written on the back. Select the desired model from the drop-down menu and click on the “Open” button.
  5. Next, you will be redirected to a page on which a list of all software supported by the keyboard will be presented. Also here you can see information regarding the keyboard driver itself - weight, release date, operating system support and a brief description from the manufacturer.
  6. Click on the "Download" button. As a result, an archive with the installation file should be downloaded to your computer. Wait for the download to complete. After this, you will need to unzip the contents of this archive onto your computer. For your own convenience, it is better to do this in a separate folder.
  7. Among the extracted files, find the element called Setup. It must have an executable file extension - EXE. Sometimes it happens that such a file has a different name and you will only have to look for it by extension.
  8. Run the file. If the operating system asks you to confirm your actions, then additionally click on the “Run” button or give permission if administrator rights are requested.
  9. The driver installer interface for the A4Tech keyboard will now open. Here you only need to read the information provided in the window and click on the “Next” button to continue the installation.
  10. Then you will need to specify the future location of the installed driver. By default, it is installed on local drive C. However, if you consider it necessary, you can select a different location for the installed drivers by using the “Browse” button.
  11. Having decided on the installation location, click on the “Next” button.
  12. At this stage, the program will ask you to specify a name for the folder in which the driver will be installed. Here it is recommended not to bother with this and leave all the default settings by simply clicking on “Next”.
  13. The next window allows the user to check the previously entered information. If everything here is correct, then click on “Next”.
  14. The installation process of the necessary software will begin. It usually doesn't take long, although a lot depends on your computer configuration. Wait for the program installation to complete.
  15. At the end, a window will appear in which it will be written that the installation was completed successfully. Click "Done".
  16. A keyboard icon should appear in the taskbar next to the time and date. If it is there, then everything went well. Click on it if you want to see the available settings.

This method is most recommended, as it involves installing the latest drivers directly from the device manufacturer’s website. The above instructions can be taken as a sample, since sometimes the installation process still differs among different users. This usually depends on the selected keyboard model, driver release date and other parameters.

Option 2: Third Party Software

This option does not always work perfectly, but it has a right to exist, since it implies a faster and easier installation of the software necessary for correct operation. However, it is not always done correctly - sometimes an outdated version of the driver is installed or they are not installed at all. A significant advantage of this method is the fact that other drivers on the computer are also updated, for example, video card drivers.

Today on the Internet you can find many programs responsible for automatically updating drivers. As an example, let's look at an implementation using DriverPack Solutions. This is a fairly simple utility that has an interface in Russian and is distributed free of charge.

  1. Go to the utility download page. There click on the download button.
  2. The executable file of the program will be downloaded to the computer. Launch it. It is worth noting that DriverPack Solution does not require installation and can be launched immediately after downloading.

  3. After opening, the utility will scan the operating system for outdated drivers available for download. It will take no more than a minute.

  4. Based on the scan results, you will be prompted to install the detected drivers. However, you should not rush, since additional software, for example, a browser, may be installed on your computer along with them. Installing these programs will not harm the system, but the user does not always need them.
  5. To disable their installation, go to “Expert Mode”. To do this, use the button of the same name at the bottom of the program window.

  6. Next, pay attention to the left menu. Here you need to open the “Soft” tab, which is marked with an icon in the form of 4 squares.
  7. There, uncheck those programs that you do not intend to install.

  8. After this, return back to the main window of the utility using the button in the form of a wrench. Here, by the way, you can select the drivers that will be installed. The installation of some of them can be disabled.
  9. Click on the “Install All” button.

  10. Wait while the utility prepares a system restore point. This is a standard procedure that takes no more than a couple of minutes.
  11. After the restore point has been created, the process of installing drivers and selected programs will begin (if you have not unchecked them). It takes a little time.

  12. Once finished, it is best to restart your computer and check if the keyboard is working properly. Ideally, a keyboard icon should appear on the taskbar.

DriverPack Solution allows you to save a lot of time searching and installing the necessary drivers. However, he does not always cope with the task perfectly. Sometimes it happens that the required driver is not installed or is installed incorrectly.

Option 3: Search by hardware ID

Each device connected to a computer is assigned a unique ID (sometimes there may be several IDs for one device). Using it, you can get comprehensive information about this device on specialized resources, as well as find the latest drivers for it (again on the same resources).

We have already looked at how to search for drivers by hardware ID number: How to find a driver by hardware ID

In short, you will have to do the following:

Option 4: Device Manager

This option is suitable in cases where you need to install only the most basic drivers for the keyboard. If you are using a model with some specific capabilities, it is better to use the methods described above.

Let's move on to implementing this method:

  1. Launch Device Manager. How to do this was written above. If you have a different version of Windows, you can launch it through the Control Panel.
  2. Expand the “Keyboards” branch again.
  3. Now right-click on the desired element and select the “Update drivers” option from the context menu.
  4. The system will offer options for searching and installing drivers. It is recommended to select the “Automatically search for updated drivers” option. The fact is that you most likely do not have the necessary files on your computer, so this is the only option left.
  5. Wait while the system searches and installs drivers.
  6. Restart your computer when finished.

Despite the fact that users often experience problems with their keyboards, the process of installing drivers is not difficult if you follow the instructions provided. If you have any difficulties and/or questions regarding the article, please leave comments. We will try to respond as quickly as possible.

  • By the term “desktop PC”, many of us mean an ensemble of a system unit, monitor and keyboard. The latter is the main device for entering information and its further manipulation from the user to the computer. At its core, a keyboard is a set of keys arranged in an organized manner. But the design of this kit can be the most unimaginable.

Downloading a keyboard driver for a computer on Windows 10 is all that remains for you in a situation where the keyboard does not work. It is important to distinguish between the situation that the keyboard does not work from the very beginning or it breaks after a long time of use. If you just installed the OS and the keyboard does not work, then the problem is probably in the drivers. If you've been using your computer for years and the keyboard suddenly stops working, then it's most likely due to a physical breakdown. Be that as it may, you can download drivers for the keyboard and at least try to solve the problem using them.

Are there drivers for the keyboard?

Many people believe that the keyboard does not need drivers. But this is completely wrong. The keyboard is a component like any other. Just because you've never installed keyboard drivers before doesn't mean you don't need to install them now. Usually, the system itself loads the necessary drivers. So before, you didn't have to download them yourself. But if after installing the new OS the keyboard does not work, then download the drivers and the problem will go away. The problem with the keyboard is usually solved after installing the drivers, but you need to know a number of facts:
    • There is no universal keyboard driver;
    • The driver is needed for a laptop keyboard and a regular keyboard;
    • The installed driver may crash;
If the problem persists after installing the driver, then there is a chance that the problem was not with the drivers. But if you didn’t physically break the keyboard, then try to revive it using drivers. This option is unlikely if the keyboard stops working after a long time. Downloading the driver is a matter of minutes. If this solves your problem, then you can save a lot of money because you won't have to buy a new one.

You need to download drivers for the keyboard not only on your computer, but also on your laptop. And if you use a wireless keyboard on a Windows 10 tablet, then you need to install drivers for it too. Since there is no universal Keyboard driver, we are posting the program - . It will allow you to install any driver, including the keyboard driver. The program will cope even if the keyboard is wireless, that is, if you need a driver for a Bluetooth keyboard.
