For three popular tariff plans from MTS, from December 5, 2013, the company provided a new package for using the short message service “SMS Smart Package”. Whether users need it in our time with the widespread use of instant messengers is up to you to decide. SMS is becoming a rare form of communication, but access to the Internet is not always available, and without it, software messengers do not work.

The largest operator is positioning the new service as a “Free SMS package”. Let's look at what the Smart SMS service is, how to connect and how to disable the service.

The Smart SMS package can only be connected to the “Super MTS”, “Red Energy” and “Your Country” tariff plans. It is valid only when you are in the operator’s home service area.

When purchasing or switching to one of the specified tariffs, you are given the opportunity to use the package to send 10 SMS per day to any mobile numbers in your service region free of charge for the first 15 days of using the option. After 15 days, the option becomes paid and will cost the user who connected it 5 rubles per day of use. The fee is charged on a daily basis. Messages sent after the limit has been reached are charged according to the basic rate.

Connecting and deactivating the service itself is free. It is activated automatically when you connect or purchase one of three tariffs: “Your Country”, “Red Energy” or “Super MTS”.

If the user has sent less than 3 messages within 15 days after activating the option, it is automatically disabled.

How to disable the SMS Smart package on MTS? It can be disabled using one of the following options:

Messages sent to the recipient by 111 while in your service area are free. When in roaming, you are charged according to the standard roaming conditions of your tariff.

After canceling the connected option, you should receive an information message on your device confirming the termination of use of the service.

Important! Such an action as disabling the Smart SMS package can be performed only once. The service will not be provided again!

We reviewed the automatically connected option from the largest Russian operator. Despite big statements about free messages when using the option, they are free only for 15 days after activating the tariff and only within their service region. And only 10 pieces per day. Most often, the impression arises that MTS is counting on the forgetfulness or inattention of subscribers, under one pretext or another, by automatically connecting pseudo-free options, packages and services to it.
