World of Tanks is a very popular game, millions of tankers fight on the battlefield every day. In order to set the maximum settings, you need a powerful computer, which, of course, not everyone has.

Low FPS can be adjusted so that there are no strong lags at minimum settings. In order to achieve optimal values, you must adhere to the points below, but first a little theory.

What is FPS

Frames Per Second (FPS) translated from English means the number of frames per second. The higher this value, the better the quality of the picture on the screen. It looks more realistic and smooth. Modern computers, whose hardware and software are constantly updated, can produce hundreds of FPS even at maximum settings. Outdated computer models are content with, at best, lagging average settings.

What does FPS WOT depend on?

FPS is a single computer system. If some component of the PC does not provide a sufficient amount of resources, the computer’s performance drops, therefore, the FPS in such a situation will not be high. In order to deal with FPS, you need to study the computer and identify its weaknesses.

What FPS should be in WoT?

A comfortable FPS value is determined by the player himself, however, for normal, more or less lag-free operation of the World of Tanks game, the required value is 30 frames per second. If the FPS is from 60-120 and above, this is considered a high indicator, but this, as already mentioned, is only available to powerful computers. If the number of frames per second drops below 30, then the picture quality will be appropriate: freezes, freezes - unpleasant and inconvenient.

Why FPS sags in World of Tanks

The number of output frames per second primarily depends on the power of the device. Affects it:

  • number of processor cores, frequency;
  • RAM capacity and operating speed;
  • video card and its speed;
  • hard drive, its speed and percentage of occupied space;
  • heating level of components;
  • general state of the system and others.

It follows that the first step is to compare the system requirements of the World of Tanks game and the power of the PC.

For minimal settings, in order to get normal operation at 30 FPS, you need to:

  • Processor: 2 cores 2 GHz or better.
  • RAM: 1.5.0.1 GB.
  • Video card: 256 MB.
  • Free disk space: ~25 GB.

For higher settings, that is, 60 FPS, 120 and more, you need:

  • Processor: 4 cores at 3 GHz.
  • RAM: from 4 GB.
  • Video card: 2 GB or higher.
  • Free disk space: ~36 GB.

What to do if the power of a computer or laptop does not produce more than 10-20 FPS, and the device itself does not reach the minimum requirements of the game? Most likely, nothing will work out. It’s worth paying attention to online games about tanks, including session ones.

The minimum requirements meet the computer hardware, but FPS does not reach 30? Please refer to the instructions below.

Setting up World of Tanks to increase FPS

First of all, you need to reduce the graphics settings in the game settings. Special effects, shadows, realistic structures, etc. can take up a lot of computer resources. Therefore, for productivity and comfortable gaming, it is better to keep them to a minimum.

To do this, you need to open the World of Tanks settings window.

  • Go to full screen mode. Windowed mode is often the cause of FPS spikes.
  • Reduce screen resolution. It is easier for the device to display information on a small number of pixels. The resolution of 1366x768 is quite suitable for comfortable gaming, but, of course, this is not the limit.
  • Disable shadows. They greatly affect the performance of the video card.
  • Disable vertical sync. This function is responsible for a flexible picture, but for an additional 5-10 frames per second you can sacrifice this.
  • Disable triple buffering. It is only effective when Vsync is running. If the latter is disabled, then it makes no sense to leave triple buffering enabled.
  • Disable antialiasing. This parameter contributes to the smoothness of the picture, but with a weak device, you can sacrifice beautiful visualization in favor of comfort.
  • Disable all special effects. Steam, smoke, fire - all this is beautiful, but on powerful PCs. For weak devices, it is better to take care of the comfort of the game without friezes and loads.
  • Reduce the quality of landscape and vegetation. The situation here is the same; good rendering affects performance.
  • Disable grass in sniper mode. The point here is not only about FPS, but also about the fact that this parameter affects the game itself, sometimes creating interference when shooting.
  • Reduce graphics settings to minimum. This is done in order to reduce the load on the video card.
  • Lower the resolution of the 3D render. The depth of the 3D scene depends on this parameter. The smaller it is, the higher the computer performance will be in the end.
  • Reduce draw distance. The visibility area also greatly affects FPS; the smaller it is, the faster the computer will process data.

After these parameters are disabled, the picture will become much worse, the smoothness of objects and the depiction of landscapes will disappear, and the low resolution of the game on a large screen does not look presentable, however, in order to get a game without lags and freezes, you must follow the above points.

How to increase FPS in World of Tanks: setting up and cleaning your computer

A performance increase, although small, can be obtained by optimizing the parameters of the computer or laptop itself.

Clean your PC from junk files

Actions to clear your computer of garbage, “cache,” should become a habit, because they must be performed regardless of the games or programs used. There are many different applications and utilities available to clean your computer.

For example, the special CCleaner utility is free and one of the most popular today. You can download it on the official website. After a short installation, you need to perform a number of actions:

  1. Launch CCleaner.
  2. Go to the “Cleaning” section located on the left side of the interface.
  3. Click on the “Analyze” button and wait for the scan to finish.
  4. Select "Clear".

Registry fix

The registry stores data that helps the system communicate with applications. Errors in the registry reduce the performance of your computer, so you must also follow the instructions below:

  1. Launch CCleaner.
  2. Select the “Register” section.
  3. Click on the “Search for problems” button.
  4. After the scan is completed, you must select “Correct selected…”
  5. A window will appear where you need to indicate the need for a backup copy.
  6. Next, you need to click on the “Correct marked” button.

Transferring the game from drive C:/

Very often, the computer works slowly with large files due to the fact that they are installed on the local C:/ drive. In order to correct the situation, it is not enough to simply copy and paste folders from one drive into a drive, for example, D:/ or E:/. To do this you need:

  1. Delete the game World of Tanks.
  2. Install Worldof Tanks again on another, more spacious, local drive.

Defragmenting your hard drive

If you frequently install a lot of games and programs, this can lead to applications being scattered across different sectors of the hard drive, which is also the reason for long request processing. Defragmentation solves this problem by moving data closer together. To do this you need:

  1. Open the “My Computer” folder.
  2. Right-click on the local drive where the game is installed.
  3. Select the “Service” tab.
  4. Open the “Optimization and Defragmentation” subsection, select “Optimize”.
  5. In the list, you need to select the desired local disk and click “Analyze”.
  6. All that remains is to wait for the analysis process to complete and, if necessary, click “Optimize”.

These instructions are relevant for the Windows 10 operating system. For earlier versions of the OS, the procedure may be slightly different.

Update your video card drivers

New versions of drivers optimize the operation of the video accelerator, so the FPS in the game will be higher and good graphics will be more accessible. In order to update the driver, you need to download it from the official website of the video card manufacturer - AMD or Nvidia are the most popular.

Disable all unnecessary background programs

It is necessary to close all unused programs: Skype, Discord, Telegram, Steam, web browsers, and so on. You also need to disable autorun of unnecessary programs, which, when launched along with the operating system, slow down and slow down the computer boot. In Windows 10, the Startup tab is located in the Task Manager.

Increase process priority

In order for the system to allocate more resources to the World of Tanks game, sacrificing other running programs, it is necessary to set its priority. You need to right-click on World of Tanks in the Task Manager and select “High priority”

Disable Windows Visual Effects

You can lower the graphics of the operating system itself, window animation will disappear, and the overall appearance will become worse, while the performance of the computer will increase. To do this you need:

  1. Right-click on the “My Computer” folder and select “Properties”.
  2. Next, click on “Advanced system settings”.
  3. A window will open where you need to select the “Advanced” tab.
  4. In the “Performance” subsection, click on “Options”.
  5. Select "Ensure best performance" and save changes.

What else can you do

  • Remove all unnecessary programs, files and folders. The hard drive runs faster if it is not overloaded.
  • Install WOT on SSD. If you run the game from an external hard drive, it will work better and, accordingly, FPS will increase.
  • Hardware overclocking of components. The processor, RAM and video card can be overclocked. At the same time, the performance improves, and the heating of the components, and therefore the entire computer case, increases. To do this, you need to clearly understand all the consequences of such actions, including the rapid wear and tear of the hardware.

Programs and mods

FPS in World of Tanks can be increased with the help of programs and modifications. Some of the most popular software include:

  • CCleaner – removes unnecessary junk, corrects registry errors and efficiently removes programs without leaving their files on the computer.
  • RazerCortex is a program that, when starting a game, frees up the maximum possible amount of resources, making this particular game the priority of the entire system. Performance on weak computers increases by 10-30 FPS. The program allows you not only to improve the quality of the game, but also to record videos, stream, perform defragmentation and much more. You can learn more about Razer Cortex on their official website.
  • WOTTweaker is a program created specifically for World of Tanks. It allows you to turn off all unnecessary special effects - clouds, explosions, smoke, fire and much more. Significantly increases FPS on weak computers. More information about this program can be found on the developer forum.

In addition to individual programs, mods with compressed textures can increase FPS. They improve PC performance by reducing the load on the graphics card.

What to do if nothing helps

If none of the above has given any results, the game is still unplayable on the device and it was not possible to increase FPS, then the only way out is to switch to another computer game. There are several good options here:

  • Try playing WarThunder. This game runs much better on minimum settings than World of Tanks. The technology here is varied (including planes and ships), and the mechanics are very interesting.
  • Try playing Worldof Tanks Blitz. This is a simplified version of the game, but it certainly cannot be called less interesting. The client is available for both mobile and PC platforms. Good online players and availability.
  • Choose another game about tanks for weak computers.

Many people are interested in how to increase fps in World of Tanks. Performance directly depends on this parameter, because even the most skilled player will hardly be able to accurately shoot at jumping and disappearing enemies. In this article you will see a personal example of increasing FPS in World of Tanks on an average non-gaming laptop.

What is FPS in tanks

Before directly considering the question of how to increase FPS in World of Tanks, let’s look at what this indicator is responsible for and what factors influence it.

FPS is the number of frames reproduced by the system per second. The optimal indicator is kept at 60-80 frames. You can play comfortably at 40 fps, but at lower rates lags and freezes begin. Let's look at exactly what factors influence productivity.

  • Hardware power. RAM and video card are especially important.
  • System load. Number of simultaneously open programs.
  • In-game settings. The way the game itself is set up.

Now that we “know the enemy by sight,” let’s look at how to increase FPS in World of Tanks.

How to set up your computer

Step one. Disable all unnecessary programs

The first step is to clear the RAM. To do this, just close all active tabs. Usually this is a browser and Skype, you can disable the antivirus, playing tanks it is impossible to pick up malware, but it will free up a lot of memory.

You can also disable background processes in Task Manager. It is called by simultaneously pressing the ctrl+alt+delete keys. In it you can close everything that does not have a Windows mark next to it.

Step two. Update video card drivers.

One of the reasons for low FPS in World of Tanks is outdated software. You can update drivers directly through Windows; this is done in two steps:

  1. Launch Device Manager and select "Video Adapters"
  1. Open the action menu by right-clicking on the video card. Click "Update Drivers".

The system itself will find the necessary data on the Internet.

Step three. In-game settings.

Increasing FPS in World of Tanks is also available in the game client. The fact is that the game does not quite correctly assess the capabilities of the system, which is why performance drops significantly. Here's a good example:

This is the graphics the system recommends to me.

First you need to change the screen resolution. The main thing is to maintain the aspect ratio (in my case 16:9)

Then you need to go to advanced settings and change a number of settings.

The render resolution cannot be changed. The picture quality deteriorates to an almost unplayable state.

Let's check how much working with the settings helped.

It can be seen that, although the quality of the graphics has dropped, the method for increasing FPS in WoT works with a bang.

Even on the weakest computers, this method will significantly increase the number of frames per second. True, there are also extreme ways to improve performance.

Programs and mods to increase FPS

Game optimization software started coming out in early versions. At first, individual small improvements were released. For example . After noticing the demand for such a function, programmers united into one team and announced WoT Tweaker. WoT Tweaker is a program for increasing FPS in World of Tanks. It allows you to comprehensively disable visual effects. You can download () for free and without registration on our website. There is also a universal program Leatrix Latency Fix.

An alternative way is to install a modpack with optimized tank textures. The modpack is called . The fact that it is dedicated to an anime series does not matter, but what is important is that the author of the modpack reworked wargaming textures and optimized them. There are a lot of modpacks, but the game can be run even on video cards with 128 MB of RAM. Try it!

How to increase fps in World of Tanks using WoT Tweaker

  1. from our website.
  2. Launch the mod and disable the effects. Multi-core processing is marked in red. A feature that has not yet been fully developed. It provides increased performance, but is not always stable.

One of the most important parameters affecting the playability of Online games is FPS.

FPS stands for Frame per Second (number of displayed frames per second).

Why is this necessary? Correctly setting up graphics in World of Tanks, as in any other Online game, significantly increases your chances of winning. FPS drops interfere with movement, make it difficult to aim, and usually end in “shots at nothing,” long reload times, and victory for the enemy.

FPS depends on your computer configuration. Good FPS starts from 35 frames per second and above. The optimal result is 50 frames per second and above.

To achieve good FPS, you must either have a high-performance gaming computer with a top-end graphics card, plenty of RAM and a powerful processor, or try to customize the game as much as possible to suit your configuration. Weaknesses in the system can be compensated for by proper graphics settings in World of Tanks, which we will talk about now.

For convenience, we have divided the settings according to the degree of influence on graphics and FPS, using a color scheme

These settings can be adjusted “as your heart desires”. Does not affect FPS.

We recommend correcting it first. This is true for mid-level systems, when you want to see beautiful graphics and stable FPS, but resources do not allow you to set everything to the maximum. These settings do not greatly affect the gameplay.

Graphics settings that do not affect FPS

You can customize these settings as you wish without worrying about performance loss

Graphics settings affecting FPS

3D render resolution. Changes the resolution of 3D objects in the scene. Affects the depth of the 3D scene. Reducing the parameter improves the performance of weak computers.

You can adjust the 3D rendering while playing. If during a battle your FPS drops, use “right Shift -” to decrease the depth of the scene and “right Shift +” to increase it. Reducing the depth will increase FPS on the fly.

Screen resolution. The higher the resolution, the higher the load on the video card. It is recommended to select a value that matches your monitor, otherwise the image will become blurry. On very old video cards you have to lower the resolution to get “playable” fps. We recommend lowering the resolution below the screen resolution as a last resort if other methods no longer help.

Vertical Sync And triple buffering. Vertical sync is the synchronization of the frame rate in the game with the vertical scan frequency of the monitor. Triple buffering avoids the appearance of artifacts in the picture. If your system produces less than 60 FPS, the developers recommend disabling both parameters (note: on modern monitors it does not particularly affect the picture).

Smoothing Removes jagged edges of 3D objects (ladder effect), making the picture more natural. It is not recommended to enable it when FPS is below 50.

Let's move on to the advanced graphics settings: "Graphics" menu, "Advanced" graphics settings tab.

"Graphic arts" Maximum influences the number of FPS produced by your video card.
Switching the graphics mode to "Standard" switches the engine to an old render with outdated effects and lighting. With standard rendering, most advanced graphics settings become unavailable. It is recommended to enable it on weak computers.

Texture quality. The higher the quality of the textures, the more detailed and clearer the picture in the game looks. The higher this parameter, the more dedicated video memory is needed. If your video card has a limited amount of video memory, texture quality must be set to the minimum. (Maximum texture quality is only available when “improved renderer” is enabled and on a 64-bit operating system.)

Lighting quality. Opens up a whole range of dynamic effects in the game: sun rays, optical effects, shadows from physical sources (trees, buildings and tanks). This parameter greatly affects the performance of the video card. If you have a weak video card, set the lighting quality to medium values or lower.

Shadow quality. Affects the rendering of shadows from objects. Reducing the quality of shadows does not greatly affect the gameplay. If you have an old video card, the first step is to set the shadow quality to minimum.

Grass in sniper mode. Affects not only performance, but also gameplay. If your FPS in sniper mode drops below 40, you need to disable it.

Extra quality effects. Affects “special effects” in the game: smoke, dust, explosions, flames. By decreasing this parameter, you can reduce the number of particles in the frame and limit the distance at which they will be displayed. It is recommended to leave it at least “low”, otherwise explosions and other elements necessary for orientation in battle will not be visible.

Add. effects in sniper mode. They regulate the same thing, but in sniper mode. If during sniper mode your FPS drops, which undoubtedly affects your accuracy, it is recommended to reduce the parameter (not below the “low” level).

Amount of vegetation. Adjusts the density and distance of vegetation drawing in the game. When FPS is low, it is recommended to set it to minimum. This can free up precious megabytes of video memory.

Post-processing. Affects effects in the afterlife - shading and the effect of hot air from damaged cars and burning objects. If you are hiding behind a destroyed tank and your FPS starts to drop, it is recommended to disable this option.

Effects from under the tracks. They saturate the picture with the effects of scattered soil, splashes of water and snow. The setting does not affect performance much. By turning it off, you can free up video memory a little.

Landscape quality. The parameter determines at what distance the quality of the landscape begins to become simpler. This parameter heavily loads the processor. Attention! With the minimum setting, there is a strong distortion of the landscape, so you may not see some ledge behind which the enemy is hiding, and after the shot the projectile will hit the edge of the obstacle, and not where you were aiming. It is recommended to set the setting value to at least “medium”.

Water quality. This parameter adds wave effects, water vibrations when moving, and reflections from objects. If you have a weak video card, it is recommended to reduce the parameter.

Decals quality. Affects the drawing distance and detail of decals - detail textures that increase image quality (fallen leaves, traces of dirt, paving slabs and other sharp objects scattered across the map). When set to “off,” even shell craters disappear. The more decals, the more video memory is required to load them. If you are not bothered by the simplification of the landscape, it is recommended to set it to “minimum” at low FPS.

Object detailing. In the game, all objects have several models of different quality. Currently, buildings have 3 types of objects, tanks from five. The quality of object rendering greatly affects performance, and at large distances small objects will still not be visible. When an object is removed, its model changes to a rougher one. The parameter affects the distance at which a higher-quality model will be drawn. The lower the parameter is set, the shorter the drawing distance for high-quality models will be.

Transparency of foliage. Disables drawing of foliage at close distances. It is recommended to enable it on weak systems.

Tree detailing. The setting operates on the same principle as "Object detailing", but only for trees. If you experience drops in FPS when trees appear, it is best to set this parameter to a minimum (along with it, it is recommended to enable “Foliage Transparency”).

Share and win from 100 gold

Many people want to increase their FPS by at least 10 centimeters =). Even an increase of 5 FPS would give many people a small but chance for a normal game. This manual from the respected DESTRoqpuK will describe more than 8 ways to achieve the maximum that your computer is capable of!

Paragraph 1:
You need to increase the page file.
To increase it on Windows 7, you need to go to (My Computer\System Properties\Advanced System Settings on the left\Performance (Options)\If you play in a window, check the box for best performance\then click Advanced, check the box next to (programs) then virtual memory change \ select your disks, click to specify the size, set the initial one to 1536, maximum 3072 (this place will work for you to enhance the capabilities of the computer, that is, this place that is indicated will disappear from the hard drive) click set then apply and reboot the computer. On Windows XP Right-click on my computer\properties and the rest is the same).

Point 2:
You will need any flash drive that you do not need. We put it in the computer, right-click properties \ select the ReadyBoost tab \ check the box opposite, use this device for ReadyBoost technology, set any size, preferably 2GB. If you need a flash drive, just check the box - do not use this device. (This item is only available to owners of Windows Vista\7) But you can try the eBoostr program, which is an analogue of ReadyBoost on Windows XP and below.
Download eBoostr from our server:

Point 3:
To speed up your computer boot time, clear registry errors and cache, we need the CCleaner program. Download, install, check the boxes as in these screenshots, if you want, you can put them somewhere else at your discretion.

Point 4:
Disable indexing. Open “My Computer”, right-click on the hard drive icon and select “Properties”. In the window that opens, uncheck “Allow disk indexing for quick search.” After clicking the “Apply” or “OK” buttons, a new window will appear in which you will be asked whether to apply the selected attributes only to the current drive or to attached files and folders too. This procedure may take a couple of minutes to complete (depending on how many files you have on your drive), but you should be able to enjoy a slightly faster OS as a result. Naturally, this only works for disks with the NTFS file system.

Clause 4.1:
We disable Windows Update, to do this, on the My Computer -> Properties -> Automatic Updates tab, uncheck the “Perform automatic updates” This is for users of WindowsXP SP1 and Windows2003, and those who have 2000 or XP (without SP1) must check the box next to “ Disable automatic updates. I want to update the software manually."

Point 5:
If you only need a computer for playing tanks, I advise you to install Windows XP (Zver). It contains everything you need and nothing superfluous. You will need to update the drivers and install everything necessary for the game (directx 9). If you go to the browser only to watch the news on the office. tanks website, then you don’t really need an antivirus, I removed it (it eats the lion’s share of the RAM, and when updating it greatly increases the ping) But if you decide to leave it, then install AVAST FREE, it’s free, and upon registration you are given a license for 1 year, + it does not consume much of your computer's resources.
You can download Avast Free Edition

Point 6:
If you have little RAM or a weak processor, the Game Booster program will help you (It does not work on all hardware configurations, as it should, if after installing it it only got worse, remove it.) The program is in Russian, its interface is very easy to learn + get out tips, I think you won’t get lost in it.
Download Game Booster from our server:

Clause 6.1:
Is everyone familiar with the problem with the red sign at the beginning of the battle “not enough memory, restart the game”? Here is a program that solves this problem WoT Booster. How to use: Turn on WoT Booster => launch tanks => go into the hangar => click in the Clean Ram program => go into battle => after each battle click in the Clean Ram program.
Download WoTBooster from our server:

Point 7:
If you have a weak video card or are the last to load into battle. The Wot Tweaker program will help you - it removes all effects in the game at your request - you can remove smoke and flames when firing, but leave smoke from the exhaust pipe, etc.

Increasing FPS due to graphics settings

First, let's try to improve WoT performance using our own graphic settings. After launching the game client, go to “Menu-Settings-Graphics”. The window shown in Figure X will open in front of you - what can you change here? At the top of the screen, it is recommended to leave a checkmark next to “Full screen mode”, since the performance in the window is much less. We do not touch the remaining items in this area of the window - we are much more interested in the positions of the “Graphics Quality” set.
For machines with poor performance, the following settings are recommended:
Graphics – Standard,
Texture quality – Low,
Decals quality – Off (do not confuse decals with parts),
Shadow Quality – Off,
Landscape quality – Minimum,
Water quality – Low,
Lighting quality – Off,
Tree quality – Low,
Vegetation Quality – Off,
Extra quality effects – Low,
Post Processing – Off
Draw distance – Medium,
Object detail – Medium,
Add. effects in sniper mode – Low.

All four checkboxes that follow (Dynamic change in the quality of effects, Grass in sniper mode, Effect from under the tracks and Traces of caterpillars) can be safely unchecked. With these simple steps you can increase fps in World of Tanks to a very significant amount. The above parameters have almost no effect on the gameplay - with the exception of two, which were set to the “Medium” position. The opposite question is that in WoT we managed to increase fps, but the picture became terrible. Which settings from the given set can be touched to improve the quality, but not cause too much degradation? The answer is in descending order - Texture quality, Landscape quality, Additional quality. effects. You can play with these characteristics and achieve an acceptable ratio of picture quality and FPS in World of Tanks. And do not use the “Auto-detection” buttons, as well as ready-made graphics quality settings - it’s better to spend a quarter of an hour once and set up the client as comfortable as possible for your PC, than to suffer later from slowdowns or a terrible picture.

Mods to increase FPS in the game

If, despite everything, low fps remains in WoT, then it’s time to use third-party applications. Many developers have developed special WoT fps mods that allow you to disable certain special effects that were not accessible in the graphics settings. The list of permitted modifications can be found on the forum, but we will look at a program that has absorbed all the best of them - the legendary WoT Tweaker. Refers to freely distributed software, is periodically updated in accordance with game versions of the client, supports many languages. The main program window is shown in Figure X.

Working with the tweaker is simple - when low fps interferes with playing in WoT, and the standard settings could not correct the situation, launch it and, after identifying the folder with the game, select which graphic effects can still be disabled:
Smoke from the exhaust pipe,
Smoke from destroyed tanks,
Smoke and flames when firing (must be turned off, FPS drop when shooting, especially in sniper mode is fatal),
Effects of projectile explosions,
Effects of hitting a tank,
Tank destruction effects,
The effect of hitting objects,
Object destruction effects (return the dog),
Tree movement effect
Cloud displays.

Despite the seemingly cosmetic settings, some of them are quite resource-intensive (for comparison, when developing Fable 2, animation and calculation of growing grass and trees required 15% of the CPU resources, so they had to be cut significantly).

Important - download mods and tweakers only from trusted resources, and also check them with antivirus software. Don’t fall for the “2x faster work!” advertisement. – miracles do not happen, and behind the attractive content there is probably malware. Moreover, not all mods are officially approved by Wargaming, and getting a ban for trying to improve WoT performance would be very disappointing.

Compressed textures

If the use of mods and tweakers failed to significantly increase the FPS of World of Tanks, then it’s time to start changing the game client itself, namely the texture files. It's no secret that they are packed, and processing and loading them takes quite a lot of CPU and RAM time. The solution to increase WoT performance was the use of compressed textures. The concept of the idea is that the original texture file is replaced by another, lower quality, but it will take much less time to unpack and load the data from this file. Currently, textures with quality 50, 25, 12.5, 6, 3 and 0.75 percent of the standard are available to the general public - just go to any search engine and type “WoT compressed textures”, then follow the link you like and Follow the installation descriptions. Attention - some mods, for example skins with penetration zones, will need to be reinstalled on top of the textures. You can also forget about a good picture - however, you have to pay for performance. There is also now a new, improved version of the WoT Tweaker Plus program with the ability to choose any texture compression level yourself. The compression process will take place directly on your computer, it will take about 2 hours.

RAM

In general, the World of Tanks game is very demanding on the amount of RAM - if you have an antivirus, ICQ, Skype in your tray, plus a browser with several bookmarks or other applications in the task list, then 2 GB of RAM will not be enough. Conclusion - close all unused applications before starting the game, use the appropriate RAM boosters. And ignore the message “Insufficient memory. Please restart the game." which will appear in the client from time to time. Banal memory leaks have been present in the project for a long time, and even 16 GB of RAM does not guarantee that after 5 - 6 hours of continuous play you will not have to reboot the PC.

Also, the performance and increase in fps of World of Tanks largely depends on the clutter of the operating system and the level of fragmentation of the hard drive (especially if a large swap file is used). Conclusion - regularly clean the registry with applications like RegCleaner or CCleaner, and defragment your hard drives every six months. In particularly advanced cases, it makes sense to rearrange the OS or roll back to an older version (for example, switch from Vista to XP).

Hardware overclocking of components

We have reviewed the game settings and client settings - the last method left is for fans of real hardcore - hardware overclocking of components. I would like to warn you right away that no liability is provided for computers, apartments and cities burned during the experiments. Any action you take will be taken solely by you at your own peril and risk - the data is provided for informational purposes only.

So, hardware overclocking of components. Concept - many PC elements, when produced in factories, turn out to be slightly better than the standard and their technical characteristics are deliberately underestimated. During overclocking, a switch occurs from standard to maximum operating mode, which causes greater wear on the equipment and faster failure, but productivity can be increased by 5 to 15 percent, depending on the type of components.

What can be overclocked - processor, RAM, video card. What you need to remember when overclocking is that performance increases due to the release of additional heat, so if your processor has a cooler from the legendary Made in China company, made somewhere unknown, then it’s better to forget about overclocking the CPU. The overclocking mechanism consists of increasing the clock frequency of the devices, as well as increasing the power supply voltage (this is where the additional power comes from).

Gone are the days when overclocking was carried out by installing jumpers on the motherboard, and in case of an unsuccessful configuration, you had to reset all settings to standard and remove the battery on the same motherboard. Now there are many applications, including those from official processor and video card manufacturers, that will allow you to overclock components directly in Windows. Again, the search engine will help you. Before overclocking, make sure that all fans of the system unit are cleaned of dust, the radiators fit tightly to the corresponding chips, and the thermal paste (where it is needed) has not dried out.

In general, the statement “I have low fps in WoT” has become quite popular on the RuNet. Don’t be ashamed to go to the official forum of the project, read the recommendations of other players and, in fact, the developers, and then a positive result will not keep you waiting long.
