A complete list of decoding statuses of international mail on our website

Parcel delivered

The entry means that the recipient received the mail.

Parcel returned

The postal item has been received by the sender. The main reason for a return is the expiration of the storage period; it may also be due to an incorrect address or name of the recipient.

The parcel is returned to the sender

The postal item has been sent back to the sender. The reason may be an incorrect address or name of the recipient, expiration of the storage period, or another circumstance.

Parcel information received

The sender (seller) assigned the postal item a number (track code) on the postal (courier service) website, but the parcel has not yet been accepted at the post office. It may take up to 10-14 days from the moment of registration to the moment the mail is actually sent.

Arrived at destination

The mail item arrived at the recipient's post office (POS). Next, the OPS sends a notice (notification) to the recipient that the item is at the department.
This status means that the recipient can independently contact the OPS to receive the shipment without waiting for a notification.

Arrived at customs

By decision of the customs inspector, the postal item may be opened for personal control. The reason for personal control may be the illegal transportation of prohibited substances or items, a commercial consignment, or the fact that there is no customs declaration (incorrectly filled out). The postal item is opened by two operators in the presence of a customs inspector, after which a customs inspection report is drawn up and attached to the item.

Left customs

Parcel accepted

The mail item is accepted for processing at the local post office from the sender (or seller). It is assigned a unique identification number (track code, tracking number), by which you can later track the location of the shipment.

Unsuccessful attempt of delivery

This entry means that the postal operator reported an attempt to deliver the postal item to the recipient and for some reason the delivery did not take place.
Upon receipt of this status, you must contact the post office delivering the item and find out the reason for non-delivery, or independently contact the post office to receive the item without waiting for notification.

On the way - Transit point

The postal item arrived at one of the sorting centers of the transit country for processing and further dispatch to the recipient.

Tracking resumed

The statuses of the mail item were not updated for a long time, and after this interval new tracking information appeared.

Parcel tracking code has changed

The postal item has been assigned a new track code. This usually happens when the parcel is transferred to another postal service for processing and further dispatch to the recipient.

Delivery service changed

The mail item has been transferred to another postal service for processing and further dispatch to the recipient.

Arrived at the customs office of the country of departure

After sorting, all parcels are sent for customs inspection, where they go through an X-ray machine.

By decision of the customs inspector, the postal item may be opened for personal control. The reason for personal control may be the illegal transportation of prohibited substances or items, a commercial consignment, or the fact that a customs declaration is missing (not completely filled out). The postal item is opened by two operators in the presence of a customs inspector, after which a customs inspection report is drawn up and attached to the item.

Transferred to postal service

The mail item was transferred to the local postal service for processing and further dispatch to the recipient.

Parcel released for delivery

The postal item arrived at the post office, the postman was notified of the arrival of the item for delivery to the addressee.

The entry may mean that a parcel has been sent to the recipient's address for home delivery or a notification has been sent about the arrival of the parcel to his address.

The parcel is being prepared for delivery

Indicates the arrival of a postal item at the recipient's post office, which must deliver the item.

Information about further statuses is not provided

The postal item was sent with a track code (tracking number), which is not tracked at the recipient's territory.

Problems at customs

The postal item is detained by customs authorities to carry out measures to determine the purpose of the postal item.

When receiving goods by international mail within a calendar month, the cost of which exceeds 1000 euros and (or) the total weight of which exceeds 31 kilograms, you must pay customs duties, 30% of the customs value of the goods, but not less than 4 euros per 1 kilogram of their weight.

If information about the goods sent by post is missing or does not correspond to the actual information specified in the customs declaration, then there is a need to conduct a customs inspection and document its results, which significantly increases the time spent on processing shipments.

There is an error in the parcel route, the parcel will be redirected to the correct address

The parcel was sent to the wrong zip code or address, an error was discovered and the parcel was redirected to the correct address.

Parcel on the way

Status meaning that the postal item has been sent to the recipient's address.

The parcel has not yet been received from the sender

The seller has registered the postal item on the website of the postal (courier) service, but in fact the postal item has not yet been transferred to the postal service.

Tracking paused

A lot of time has passed since the last update in postal tracking. And due to this long period, the track code will not be automatically tracked. The delivery service could also inform you that further tracking of the postal item will be stopped after it leaves the territory of the sender’s country and arrives at the destination country.

Generalized status, which may imply return, return, temporary storage and other status.

On the way - Left the waypoint

The postal item is sent from an intermediate postal node and is sent towards the recipient.

On the way - Arrived at the intermediate point

The mail item arrived at the intermediate postal center for sorting, selecting a route and sending it to the recipient.

Export from country of origin

Indicates the actual dispatch of the postal item to the destination country.

The postal item is transferred to a foreign carrier, which, by land or air transportation, delivers it to the place of international postal exchange (IMPO) of the country of destination. The “Export” status is the longest and the transition to the “Import” status may take some time due to the selection and agreement of the most optimal (cheapest) delivery route for your postal item for the carrier. At this stage, neither the sender nor the recipient can track the exact movement of the item over the Internet.
On average, an export operation takes from 7 to 14 days, but sometimes this operation can take up to 60 days.
If more than 2 months have passed since receiving the “Export” status, and there are no visible changes and the postal item has not received the “Import” status, then the sender must contact the post office and apply for a search.

Issues of speed of delivery of goods from Aliexpress always remain the most pressing. Fast delivery is important both for buyers in order to receive the goods faster, and for sellers and the Aliexpress administration in order to receive money faster. Therefore, the site is constantly starting to cooperate with new delivery services, which are not yet overwhelmed by the flow of parcels and can quickly deliver items to Russia and the CIS countries.

And one of these services recently became the Latvian Post. Nowadays many buyers receive tracks ending in LV. Parcels go from China to Riga, and then to Russia. And they are delivered further by Russian Post.

Track ZA…LV. Tracking

This track number is an unregistered shipment with partial tracking. That is, you will see statuses for China, then the status of receiving the parcel in Latvia. And then about arrival at the post office and receiving the parcel.

That is, this method of sending is budgetary. With all the accompanying risks.

If the ZA...LV format track is not tracked

  • - If within 2 weeks after sending the parcel there is no tracking record, then write to the seller, perhaps he forgot to send the parcel or it was lost in the post office.
  • - If no tracking status appears 14 days after sending, and the seller did not help in any way, then it will be possible
  • - If the package is stuck at any stage of delivery, you will need to open a dispute no earlier than 2-3 days before the delivery deadline.

Latvian postal parcel with track ZA...LV is stuck

Basically, in the first stages of delivery, when the parcel is carried by Cainiao from China to Latvia, the tracking statuses change very quickly. And there are quite a lot of them. Further, after receiving the parcel in Latvia, there will be very few tracking records. And in Russia there are only two statuses. Therefore, buyers get scared when tracking freezes. But in fact, the parcel goes to the recipient’s country. It just doesn't show up in tracking. And the journey can take from 3 to 21 days. Depending on the region and mail load.

But you need to keep track of the tracking number. As soon as the status “Arrived at destination” appears in the details of your Aliexpress order and you receive a letter notifying you of this status in your email, this will mean that the parcel has arrived at your post office. And you can go receive the shipment. Or wait for a notification for a large parcel. A small package will be placed directly in your mailbox.

I don’t see much point in knowing a detailed description of a particular postal status. The meaning of most of them is clear from the name, the meaning of others is not so important (again, for me).

However, many users want to understand what the parcel statuses they see when tracking mean. So I will give a description of the most frequent and popular statuses that you can find on various trackers.

Delivery to the addressee / Delivery to the recipient

The parcel has been received by the addressee (at the post office or delivered by courier)

Flew to destination country

The parcel will be delivered to the post office of the destination country. Next, it will be delivered to one of the places of international postal exchange for subsequent import/export operations.

Departed from the airport

The parcel has departed from the airport of the sender's country and is heading to the destination country. The status will not change immediately upon arrival at the airport of the destination country, but after the parcel is processed by the postal service. This may take from 3 to 10 days.

The parcel has departed from the airport of the sender's country and is heading to the destination country.

After the parcel leaves the territory of the sender's country and arrives at the destination country, it will be assigned a new track code, which is not registered anywhere. Accordingly, the parcel will not be tracked.

Issued by customs

The customs clearance procedure has been completed, and in the near future the parcel will be handed over to the post office of the destination country for further delivery.

Ready for shipment

Ready to ship

Detained by customs

This operation means that the parcel is detained by customs officers to carry out measures to determine the destination of the parcel.

When receiving goods by international mail during a calendar month, the customs value of which exceeds 1000 euros, and (or) the total weight of which exceeds 31 kilograms, in part of such excess, it is necessary to pay customs duties and taxes using a flat rate of 30% of the customs value of the goods , but not less than 4 euros per 1 kilogram of their weight. If information about the goods sent to the MPO is missing or does not correspond to the actual information, this significantly increases the time spent on processing shipments, since there is a need to conduct a customs inspection and document its results.

Submission

The parcel was sent to the wrong zip code or address, an error was discovered and it was redirected to the correct address.

Import international mail

The operation of receiving the item in the recipient's country.

All mail arriving on the territory of the Russian Federation from air flights begins its journey at the aviation postal department (AOPP) - a special postal warehouse at the airport. Within 4–6 hours, shipments from the aircraft arrive at the AOPP, the containers are registered, and their integrity and weight are checked. Mail is registered in an electronic database. During registration, the barcode is scanned, data is entered about where the container is addressed (for example, MMPO Moscow), from which flight it arrived, about the country and date of formation of the container, etc. The time of these operations can be increased from 1 to 7x days due to the limited capacity of the AOPP.

The next operation after export from the country of origin, which is reflected on the website when tracking the shipment, is import into the destination country. Import information appears after the shipment is transferred by the carrier to the postal operator of the destination country. Operation “Import” means that the shipment arrived on the territory of Russia and was registered. International shipments arrive in Russia through the international postal exchange place (IMPO). There are several MMPOs in Russia: in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Samara, Petrozavodsk, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Bryansk. The choice of city where exactly the international shipment will arrive depends on the sender’s country. The choice depends on the availability of regular flights and free carrying capacity in a particular direction.

Unsuccessful attempt of delivery

Assigned if the operator reported that there was an attempt to deliver the parcel to the addressee, but for some reason it failed.

Options for further action:

  • New delivery attempt
  • The parcel will be transferred for storage until demand or until the circumstances are clarified.
  • Return to sender

What to do if you receive this status:

  • You need to contact your post office and find out the reason for non-delivery.
  • You must contact the post office yourself to receive the parcel.

According to information received from Russian Post, the status “Left the place of international exchange” can last no more than 10 days. At MMPO, shipments undergo a full cycle of processing, customs control and clearance functions. Postal containers arrive under the customs transit procedure. They are then sorted by type and transferred to various areas. Shipments with product contents undergo X-ray inspection. By decision of the customs officer, the parcel may be opened for personal control; the reason for personal control may be violations of property rights, a commercial consignment, targeting a consignment that may contain substances prohibited for shipment. The parcel is opened by the operator in the presence of a customs officer, after which a customs inspection report is drawn up and attached to the shipment.

Reception at customs

In the sender's country The parcel was handed over to the customs service of the sending state for inspection and other customs procedures. If the parcel passes the customs check successfully, it will be sent to the destination country.

Reception from sender

This means that the overseas sender (seller) has brought your parcel to the local post office. At the same time, he filled out all the necessary documents, including the customs declaration (forms CN 22 or CN 23). At this time, the shipment is assigned a unique postal identifier - a special bar code (Track number, Track code). It is located on the check (or receipt) issued upon acceptance of the parcel. The “Reception” operation shows the place, date and country of receipt of the item. After acceptance, the parcel moves on its way to the place of international exchange.

Accepted by carrier

Indicates that the sender (seller) has transferred your order to a local carrier. At this time, the shipment is assigned a unique postal identifier - a special bar code (Track number, Track code). It is located on the check (or receipt) issued upon acceptance of the shipment.

Export international mail

Indicates the actual dispatch of the parcel to the destination country.

The “Export” status includes the transfer of the parcel to a foreign carrier, which, by land or air transportation, transports it to the MMPO of the destination country. As a rule, this status is the longest and the transition to “Import” may take some time. This happens due to the characteristics of flight routes and the formation of the optimal weight for transporting it by plane. For example, shipments from China may be delayed due to the fact that cargo planes can carry at least 50 - 100 tons. On average, an export operation takes from 7 to 14 days, but sometimes this operation can take up to 60 days.

If the shipment is in the “Export” status, then it is impossible to track it (find out what exactly is happening to it); only at the import stage will you be able to see your package and monitor its further movement. The use of transit transportation and certain restrictions often delay shipments. However, if your parcel was sent more than 3 months ago, but has not received the “Import” status, then the sender needs to contact the post office and apply for a search.

What do postage statuses mean in English?

Both on Aliexpress and on popular trackers, all postal statuses are translated into Russian. So you won’t come across statuses in English often. And yet, I decided to add here a translation and transcript of the most popular of them.
