2017: Suspension of newspaper publication for three weeks in August
In August 2017, the RBC media holding suspended the publication of the daily newspaper RBC for three weeks, several interlocutors in the holding told Kommersant. The RBC press service clarified that the company adheres to the “newspaper publication schedule, which was approved at the end of 2016.”
“The pause in August was planned and was associated with the low season both for the market and for our audience,” explained an RBC representative.

2016: Chief editor Maxim Solyus leaves RBC
In May 2016, the chief editor of RBC Elizaveta Osetinskaya, the chief editor of the RBC website Roman Badanin and the chief editor of the RBC newspaper Maxim Solyus left the holding. The last working day of all three is May 13, 2016.
Solyus later wrote on Facebook that he would not disclose the specific reasons for his departure. The change of RBC editors was a decision of the management of the RBC holding, RBC CEO Nikolai Molibog confirmed to Vedomosti. He declined to make any other comments on this issue.
“We have recently talked a lot about how to further develop RBC, and in these conversations we could not come to a consensus on some important issues, so we decided to part ways. I want to thank Elizaveta, Roman and Maxim for their work and their contribution to the development of the company,” says RBC in an official statement on his behalf.
According to Vedomosti's source in RBC, at first a decision was made to leave Solyus, Osetinskaya and Badanin left out of solidarity with him. “New personnel appointments in the structure of RBC media projects will be announced later,” the company said.
Over the past few months, pressure on RBC had been increasing. As sources in the holding told Vedomosti, employees of the presidential administration and government sought from the company's management and its shareholder Mikhail Prokhorov a change in editorial policy. 2015: Warning from Roskomnadzor for a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad
The newspaper received a warning from Roskomnadzor for publishing a photograph in an article on January 15, 2015, which, according to Roskomnadzor, offended the religious feelings of Muslims.
