In the first film, even before the sabotage, they obtained the mutant Lizun by directly introducing the virus into the body of the test subject. He had great strength, the ability to move along walls and ceilings, and the ability to absorb the genetic material of victims, becoming stronger. What distinguished him from other infected people was his large size, the visible absence of eyes, and a mouth dotted with sharp teeth. In the second film, several of these creatures were already hunting people in the church, where several survivors had taken refuge.

At the end of the first film, Matthew Addison Matthew Addison) becomes infected with a virus. Scientists turn him into a special mutant cyborg - Nemesis ( Nemesis) - and pit him against Alice ( Alice), the second survivor. In the end, he rebels against his creators and dies under the wreckage of a helicopter. Nemesis was intelligent and freely used all types of weapons.

Dr. Isaacs, having become infected with the virus at the end of the third film, injected himself with the anti-virus and retained his sanity, but still mutated and at the same time acquired the ability to grow tentacles, with which he could kill from a distance. He considered himself the next step in evolution. Despite the fact that he regenerated faster than the infected who appeared in films before him, he also turned out to be not immortal.

Alice was also infected, but she was able to adapt the virus and, with its help, enhance her abilities, which only increased from film to film. In the fourth film, she is injected with a drug that blocks the virus.

In the fourth film, several more types of zombies appeared, in particular, zombie diggers (majini), capable of digging tunnels and reaching victims from underground, the new kind dogs (adjulas), whose heads could be divided vertically, forming a huge mouth dotted with sharp teeth (two individuals appeared, which were soon killed), and the executioner - a zombie giant who wielded a huge ax, with which he broke through the gates of the prison where they were hiding surviving, thereby letting in the zombies swarming around, and dying only when his head was completely blown off. In the supposedly “only place not affected by a viral infection - the city of Arcadia in Alaska,” in fact, on the ship where experiments were carried out on people, and owned by Umbrella, there was a former employee of the Umbrella secret service, Albert Wesker ( Albert Wesker) and was also infected, but retained his sanity and was practically invulnerable. He couldn't adapt the virus as well as Alice, so he wanted to "absorb her DNA." During the ensuing fight, Wesker was wounded, including in the head, and fled. However, while trying to blow up the ship as a Tokyo center, he discovered a bomb in his tiltrotor. During the explosion, something flies off from the tiltrotor, and then, in the next scene, we see a parachute descending with something...

In the fifth film, Wesker returned and reinfected Alice with the virus, once again turning her into a weapon as the Red Queen set out to destroy humanity.

“Lowest” category of viruses. Progenitor Virus and T-Virus
So-called Virus-Progenitor or the Mother Virus, which laid the foundation for the Umbrella Corporation itself and its developments in the field of biological weapons, was discovered by a group of scientists consisting of Edward Ashford, James Marcus and Ozwell Spencer on December 4 of an unknown year. Presumably in the early 60s. Known data from Progenitor research.
It appears to be relatively selective in its effect on living organisms. The results of exposure are unpredictable and ambiguous. It can have an impact on both humans and lower organized forms of the living world. Any uniform effect on people when exposed to the virus is not known. First known experimental specimen (November 1967) – Lisa Trevor. Introduction of the Progenitor Virus:

– Jessica:
Controlling virus: Type-A.

Symbiosis with the virus: Negative.
Action: Localized.

- Lisa:
Controlling virus: Type-B.
Increased activity of cellular plasma.
Symbiosis with the virus: Positive, but with a delay in the fusion process.
Body Mutation: Permanent results observed.
The result of the introduction of the virus and the subsequent mutation was the destruction of the consciousness of the experimental subject. However, it is impossible to draw any conclusions about Lisa: during her stay in Arklay, she was stuffed with all kinds of viruses, which makes it difficult to isolate the effect of each of them separately. Only one thing can be said for sure - apparently, Spencer and Co. were very lucky that they came across an object with extraordinary DNA: Lisa continued to live throughout all the past years and experiments performed on her. Neither Progenitor nor the T-Virus killed her. What William and Wesker could not reproduce with other objects.

Data on the action of the Progenitor on other living organisms:

Currently, research has shown that when the Progenitor virus invades a living organism, it causes irreversible cellular changes leading to weakened immunity or death. In addition, no satisfactory method has been found to control the body in order to use it as a weapon. Clearly, increasing interconnection at the cellular level will make it possible to significantly accelerate further development.

Insecta
It is likely that these ancient organisms have been genetic carriers for thousands of years, but when the Progenitor virus is activated, they exhibit only immediate, accelerated growth and increased aggressiveness. It is extremely difficult to determine their prospects as B.O.W....
Amphibia
Injecting the virus into a frog resulted in increased jumping power and abnormal tongue growth. However, no changes in intelligence were observed. Additionally, the test subject's abnormal appetite caused it to attack any moving objects. Usefulness as B.O.W. limited.
Mammalia
An experiment of crossing the Progenitor virus with monkey DNA resulted in increased reproduction. Initial results showed increased aggressiveness and increased mental abilities. (A side effect was a deterioration in vision, but this was compensated by an improvement in hearing). However, as weapons they are unsatisfactory. Apparently, progress is impossible unless a person is used as a carrier.
Method of transmission of the virus: unknown
Availability of antivirus: unknown.
Conclusion. The Progenitor's capabilities as an independent virus are very limited. Objects that have been infected cannot be controlled. No increase in mental abilities has been observed in arthropods and amphibians. People are experiencing destruction of their psyche and consciousness.

T-virus Obtained by Dr. James Marcus from the Progenitor virus using leech DNA. The discovery date of the virus seems very confusing to me. On the one hand, we know from Wesker Report No. 2 that by the time Wesker and William were assigned to the Arklay Laboratory (July 1978), the T-virus already existed. In addition, Alexander Ashford's note from CV makes it clear that the T-virus was discovered before 1970. Since, based on it, Alexander began developing T-Veronica, which he used to create his children - Alfred and Alexia. It is known that the year of their birth is 1971. On the other hand, the diary of Marcus from Zero contains an entry of the following nature:

11 February
Today again someone tried to break into the laboratory. We need to come to an agreement with them somehow. We need to bring William and Albert up to speed - they are the only two I trust. Apart from my beautiful leeches, of course. But I won’t just leave Spencer! At the next meeting of the Company's directors, I will present the “T” to everyone and rest on my laurels.

The year is not specified. However, if William and Wesker are mentioned in the sense that Marcus trusts them, this is clearly far (several years later) after 1978. Which can’t possibly be the case, since Marcus couldn’t wait 10 years for an “official introduction,” at a time when Edward and Alexander Ashford were already working with him in the late 60s. Therefore, I will assume that the T-virus was created precisely then - some time after the Progenitor.
The T-virus has extremely low selectivity when affecting living organisms. It is capable of affecting plants, fungi, worms, arthropods, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, including humans. However, the impact of the virus has a different effect and depends both on the characteristics of the individual and on external conditions. But at the same time it lends itself well to unification. The mechanism of action of the virus on humans and all other living organisms varies greatly.

Known modifications of B.O.W. based on T-virus:
Zombie
Lizuny
Hunters
Mad dogs (Cerberus)
Long-armed
Albinoids
Leeches
Plant-42
Plants (from RE2)
Chimeras
Sharks
Tyrants

All other infected creatures - spiders, crows, snakes, worms, moths, cockroaches, giant alligator and others - in reports on B.O.W. are not mentioned and appear to be a byproduct of the virus leak. That is, their mutations were uncontrollable. Although, I think giant spiders are still like B.O.W. could be developed initially and purposefully.

The mechanism of action of the T-virus and its effect on living organisms.
About the impact of the T-virus on a person, the virus makes him a “living dead”, a zombie. Therefore, the virus first kills its carrier. Initially, this was precisely the task of a biological weapon based on the T-virus - it should lead to the death of people, acting as a fatal, incurable and highly contagious disease. The transformation of a person after his death into a “living dead” is, so to speak, a pleasant side effect that allows the victims of the virus to be “used” again as B.O.W.
Spread of the virus.
The virus “in its pure form”, that is, through direct contact with its sample, can clearly be infected through the skin (“... Denis touched one, then he developed a severe fever” (c), then the said Denis has the classic symptoms of infection with the T-virus) and mucous membranes. The same, I believe, when ingested with food and water. The virus is most likely not airborne. This is logical, and in one of the papers in RE3 there is the following remark: “I just discovered that the disease is not transmitted by air, but by some other means.”
The second possible case of infection is direct entry of saliva and/or blood of an infected creature into the blood of the victim.
Symptoms of T-virus infection. Increased body temperature, fever; burning and itching of the skin, its irritation, gangrene; nausea, abnormal increase in appetite. As a result, the T-virus leads to the death of its carrier. However, the time it takes for this to happen varies depending on the method of infection.
When infected through direct contact with the virus, it takes 5 to 10 days to kill a person and turn them into a zombie. These data were obtained on the basis of dates from papers. For example, from "Keeper's Diary" it is clear that 8 days passed between contact with the virus of its author and his loss of consciousness (May 11-19, 1998). From "The Watchman's Diary" you can learn about a certain Thomas, whose illness takes approximately 9 days. The situation changes dramatically if the infection occurred through the bite of a T-virus carrier. In this case, the virus needs no more than a day to kill the victim. Moreover, if she was seriously injured, this makes the work of the virus easier. It is also known that a person infected T-virus, but someone who dies not as a result of the action of the virus, but of the injuries received, also quickly turns into a zombie. A clear example of the rapid transformation into a zombie as a result of a bite is Marvin Braneg, Brad Vickers, Edward Dewey, etc. After death, a person turns into "zombie" - he retains motor functions, but completely loses intelligence. Zombies are driven only by hunger, so they are extremely aggressive and attack living beings in order to eat them. By the way, this fact is little clear to me, because after death metabolic processes are stopped - Why does a corpse need to eat? After all, there is no need to support life - it no longer exists. Zombies are insensitive to pain and have amazing physical endurance. In an amicable way, a zombie can only be finally put to rest by cutting off its head or by burning it (which is observed in the Remake and on Hard in RE2), because the dead person no longer has vital organs, the damage to which would be critical. By the way, I am interested in the question - what should be the degree of decomposition of a corpse so that it is no longer able to move? Ideally, zombies should function only until their body has decomposed to a certain point. And the virus has not been seen to keep bodies from falling apart. Rather, it’s the other way around. It is known that only 90% of people can become infected with the T-virus. 10% are immune to the virus. As you know, Spencer was not satisfied with such results; he needed a 100% effect. Spencer's claims, to be honest, seem unfounded to me. Because these 9 zombies will easily tear apart 1 person - and that will be a 100% effect. To turn into a zombie, you do not need a specific external influence or condition. This effect seems to be basic. Further mutation can occur (the condition of occurrence is unknown) as follows:

The so-called Crimson Heads.

It is now confirmed that when the host loses consciousness, the body enters a comatose state. During this time, the virus becomes active and quickly transforms and modifies the main structures of the body. The host eventually mutates into a humanoid creature. This rapid and amazing muscle development deserves special attention. After mutation, the object becomes more mobile and aggressive.
Lizuny.

"Lickers are created when a zombie is allowed to mutate further as a result of the T-Virus infection, and can be considered the next stage of mutation of a human host after the "crimson head" stage."

Strikingly different the result of the T-virus affecting other life forms. Unlike people, the virus does not kill them, but leads to rapid and intense mutation, which is expressed in an abnormal increase in the size of individuals, increased aggressiveness, endurance and level of intelligence or its appearance (in the case of plants). Examples are spiders, sharks, worms and others. Hunters can also be included here, because they are completely living creatures, obtained as a result of the influence of the T-virus on the DNA of humans and reptiles and their recombination.
The pinnacle of evolution of B.O.W. based on the T-virus are the so-called Tyrants various modifications. I will deliberately not list them all here and their features; anyone interested can look, for example, here. The main problem of the Tyrant project was that it can only be obtained from a person with the required genotype. Its incidence is approximately one case in 100 million. I’m interested in how William and Wesker figured this out... But oh well, if they could figure this out by some indirect signs, how did they manage to get at least a few suitable people for their tests? And how did they manage to find them? Tyrants are distinguished by enormous physical strength, endurance and an amazing ability to regenerate. You can kill them only by literally blowing them to pieces. But the main difference from the rest of B.O.W. based on a person, is the presence of at least some intelligence and a relative ability to program the actions of the Tyrant.
A unique case is presented by Dr. James Marcus and his leeches. But I’ll break the “chronological” sequence and give it a place at the end of the article.
Does it exist antivirus against T-virus, not known. There are no mentions of him throughout the series. Moreover, it is repeatedly emphasized that there is no cure. Only Outbreaks, as I understand it, have a means to inhibit the action of the virus, but not neutralize it. Moreover, it was made quite recently. On the one hand, this is quite logical. Spencer wanted a virus that could infect everything without any hope of healing. Marcus, William, Wesker and other scientists who finalized the T-virus could well ensure this. That is, either the antivirus does not exist in principle, the disease is not curable, or it was not deliberately developed. Considering how many of Umbrella's personnel have died as a result of accidents due to virus leaks and/or contamination by infected objects, the first option seems logical. After all, why let them die if there is an antivirus? As for the second assumption, it is also not without meaning: ordinary scientists might not have known about the existence of the medicine. Why does this situation seem strange? Yes, because not only do antidotes exist, but technology has even been developed for automated production of a vaccine against “viruses of the highest category” - G and the filth with which Nemesis infected Jill. And these installations are not very secret. But for some reason there is no antidote against the T-virus...

Conclusion. The biggest problem with B.O.W. The “aggressive type” based on the T-virus is low intelligence and lack of control.

What does Ebola have to do with it? The Ebola virus (first discovered in 1976) is mentioned in the Wesker Report #2 as being promising for use as B.O.W. It is also noted that William was going to conduct research on this virus and development based on it. However, there is no further mention of whether this virus played any role in Umbrella's developments or not. Therefore, we can only guess why the developers mentioned Ebola in the Report. For this “illustrative” example, the disease caused by Ebola is very similar to the infection caused by the T-virus. Or to make us think about how far the fantasy of the game is from reality?
A little information about what Ebola is for those who don’t know or don’t remember. Not recommended for the faint of heart.

Experts first identified Ebola as a separate virus after an epidemic in Sudan and Zaire in the mid-1970s. Approximately 440 people died then. The Zaire type of virus is still considered the most dangerous, with a mortality rate of 90%. The virus is transmitted from person to person through any contact; symptoms can appear either after a few days or after two weeks. A sick person poses a great danger to others; the Ebola virus, like the Marburg virus, is found in many fluids (blood, saliva, nasopharyngeal secretions, semen), which causes contact, sexual and airborne (through contact with saliva) transmission routes. Cases of secondary and tertiary spread of infection have been reported, mainly among hospital staff. The virus is isolated from patients for about 3 weeks. Infection can be transmitted through insufficiently sterilized needles and other instruments. When examining the population in many areas of Central Africa, 7% were found to have antibodies to the Ebola virus, which allows us to assume the possibility of a mild and even asymptomatic course of infection, which remains undetected, but poses a danger for the further spread of the infection. What is Ebola disease? The virus attacks every organ and tissue in the human body, with the exception of skeletal muscles and bones. Clots appear in the blood, the blood thickens, slows down, and clots begin to accumulate on the walls of blood vessels. There are more and more clots and they become thicker; they begin to clog the capillaries, blocking the access of blood to various parts of the body. Parts of the brain, kidneys, liver, lungs, intestines, genitals, and entire parts of the skin begin to die. With particular fury, Ebola attacks connective tissues, multiplying in collagen - the main protein of the tissues that make our skin, and therefore our body, a single whole. The collagen in the victim's body turns to mush, the subcutaneous tissue of the body dies and begins to decompose. Involuntary cracks begin to cover the skin, from which blood immediately begins to flow. The red spots grow, become huge bruises, the skin becomes soft, plump, any pressure causes the skin to peel off. The heart bleeds into itself, the heart muscles soften, and the blood begins to splash into the chest. Ebola attacks the inner surfaces of the eyeballs, they become filled with blood, and a person can go blind. Blood begins to ooze from the eyes, in such quantities that it runs down the cheeks. Blood does not clot. May suffer a blow to the cerebral hemisphere with partial or complete paralysis. But even while the body is filled with dead, clotted blood, the blood flowing out does not coagulate. If this blood is examined under a microscope, you can see that the blood is dead. Ebola kills huge amounts of tissue while the infected host is still alive. Lifetime necrosis begins, affecting all internal organs. The liver dies and begins to decompose in the body of the still living victim. Ebola also destroys the brain; Ebola victims very often experience epileptic seizures, especially in the final stages of the disease. During a seizure, blood flies in all directions - some kind of devilish trick of the virus, because... It is at this time that infection of others most often occurs, from the blood of the affected person flying in all directions. After death, the corpse suddenly, dramatically, literally decomposes before our eyes. The fact is that the internal organs of the body have been dead for several days, a kind of “dissolution” of the body occurs, instant decomposition.

Since I have already quoted a lot, I suggest you follow this link - at the end of the article there is a section devoted to the possibility of using Ebola as a biological weapon. It’s worth thinking about, perhaps, from fantasy to cruel reality - just a couple of steps.

G virus
Discovered by Dr. William Birkin around 89-90 of the twentieth century. The material for creating the virus was the same Lisa Trevor. In the years that the Progenitor-based viruses had been in her body, no significant changes seemed to have occurred. However, after what turned out to be an incubation period (about 20 years), William was able to isolate from it new virus. Bringing the development of the virus to completion took about 10 years. We do not know the results of studies of the effects of the G-virus on plants and animals, if they have been conducted. The only known carrier of the virus is its creator himself. The G-virus is more powerful than the T-virus in the sense that it causes much stronger and faster mutations even without external influence until the death of the infected person. That's what Wesker Report #2 says, and it seems to be true. However, the point about “mutations even in the absence of external influence” gives me strong doubts. In addition, “the G-Virus has the ability to revitalize cellular functions,” which saved its creator from death. However, at a high price...

Mutations under the influence of the G-virus.
We don't know exactly when William was shot. However, this can be approximately calculated from indirect facts. Firstly, we know that the mutation began immediately after the introduction of the virus, since comrades from the U.S.F.U. Before they had time to escape, William’s paw and eye had already grown. However, on September 28, 1998, we find him the same and has not yet mutated further. How long has it been since the G-virus injection? It is known that the virus takes about a week to turn a person into a zombie. As a result of repeatedly going through all the pieces of paper, I came to the conclusion (I can later give dates for those who doubt it) that the whole mess in Reikkun began around September 24-25. For events dated earlier do not contain any mention of a massive zombie invasion. It is also clear that the entire city could not be flooded with them overnight. Additionally, one of the reports contains the following:

September 20. 21:30 Recorded by Sergeant Neil Carlsen We have received a report of a suspicious individual hiding in the sewers on the outskirts of Raccoon City. When we arrived on scene, we located the suspect, but he managed to escape and we were unable to question him.

I believe it was William. This means that you can safely subtract about 7-10 days from 24. Therefore, William in RE2 Leon and Claire met 10-14 days after the introduction of the virus. Further mutation (6 stages were observed) occurred immediately after receiving severe physical damage. This is a very interesting fact. Firstly, in theory, mutation under the influence of the G-virus should occur continuously and without external influence, but the opposite is observed: for 10 days William did not mutate much, whereas after eating a couple of kilograms of lead from Leon and Claire, he went through several stages in one night. Secondly, I wonder how physical damage becomes a catalyst for mutation? Most likely, the subsequent mutation also causes regeneration - therefore, the transition to new uniform carried out after receiving damage in order to regenerate damage. However, does this happen spontaneously or does the creature control the process? It should also be noted that even though the G-virus is capable of creating a powerful B.O.W. from a person, it loses its mind and memory and becomes practically uncontrollable. Subject to final destruction, like the best models B.O.W. based on the T-virus, only with a powerful explosion.
Virus transmission and antivirus.

The G-virus is transmitted from host to host by the introduction of an embryo. If the infected host's antibodies fail to destroy the embryo, it will begin to gradually destroy the host's cellular structures at the molecular level, rewriting their DNA. At the end of this process, the new host will be able to continue the described reproduction cycle. The duration of the process may vary for different subjects. In the early stages of the lesion, it is possible to reverse the transformation process with the help of an antigen (G-vaccine).

It should be noted here that the embryo takes root only in the case of genetic affinity with the victim. Otherwise, the embryo kills the host and develops “in the wild” into an independent individual.

Conclusion. The main disadvantage of the virus is the complete loss of the carrier’s mind and memory.

T-Veronica
Created on the basis of the T-virus by Alexander Ashford in the 70s of the twentieth century and subsequently modified by his daughter Alexia. The samples of B.O.W. known to us. based on T-Veronica are Alexander Ashford, Steve Burnside and Alexia Ashford. The virus serves as the basis for a powerful biological weapon and its properties differ sharply from the T-virus. It is closest to the action of the G-virus. The effect of the virus on each person appears to be highly individual. However, without observing the proper conditions for the experiment, the carrier of T-Veronica loses his mind and becomes uncontrollable, like an object exposed to the G-virus. Alexia Ashford modified the virus by using ant genes to create it. She also discovered that the virus must undergo an incubation period in the body of the carrier for 15 years at a low temperature. If this condition is met, a person exposed to Veronica does not lose his mind, memory and controls his actions. However, to reach your potential as a B.O.W., mutation is not necessary. Using the example of Alexia, we see that the first time she mutates not spontaneously, but quite intentionally, at her own request - when she goes out to fight Wesker. However, its subsequent mutation (controlled or spontaneous for the purpose of regeneration is not known) also occurs after causing physical damage to its subject, similar to the situation with William. It is also not known whether Alexia, having mutated into her second and third forms, was able to retain her mind. Cannot be destroyed by conventional weapons, like Tyrants and William. The principle of transmission of the virus, other than direct injection into the blood, is not known. The presence of antivirus is unknown. But we can assume that he does not exist. It is not known whether Veronica is capable of restoring the vital functions of a dying person, like the G-virus. However, Alexia did not do anything to save Alfred with the help of the virus...

Conclusion. The main advantage of T-Veronica is the preservation of the mind and memory of an infected person. However, the difficulty lies in meeting the necessary conditions.

Here I will return to Dr. Marcus. For the strange effect of the T-virus on him is more reminiscent of T-Veronica. James Marcus was executed by firing squad in 1988 on Spencer's orders. However, as a result of the shoddy work of the performers, he managed to survive. Not without the help of his favorite leeches, exposed to the T-virus, thanks to one of which he survived. Moreover, as a result of the influence of the T-virus, he became considerably younger and apparently lived quite well for 10 years. An interesting fact is that the highest evolution of the T-virus is somehow connected with the effect of collective intelligence that appears in lowly organized organisms. Leeches in the case of the T-virus and Marcus, ants in the case of T-Veronica and Alexia. And in both cases, the researchers who are exposed to the viruses and expose these organisms to it become their “Queens.” However, after 10 years, Marcus began to mutate, spontaneously, which is interesting. It seems that there was no external influence on him. There is no need to talk about the loss of intelligence and reason - the doctor has turned into one big leech. Further mutation follows a pattern common to all “higher” B.O.W. – under the influence of physical damage. Vulnerable to UV radiation.

Research report on R-Epsilon gas
R-epsilon gas is considered a universal means of destroying all known BW (biological weapons). Because of this, it is used as a countermeasure in the event of the spread of biological weapons. However, recent research suggests possible side effects. P-epsilon acts by weakening the cellular functions of BO. However, prolonged or repeated exposure to the gas can lead to the formation of adaptive antibodies. Moreover, some BO forks have been shown to have the ability to absorb P-epsilon and use the toxins released from it against external threats. In view of this, the use of P-epsilon gas should be resorted to only in the most extreme cases. We insist on re-equipment of the emergency spray system of P-epsilon gas. We also insist that this measure be taken as soon as possible.

Manager's Diary
The treatment system was completed. Using a special type of gas, this system can decompose guinea pig cells. We must test the gas before using the system in practice as it is still not 100% stable.

Disposal of corpses
Special instructions for disposal of corpses.
We have new data regarding those "creatures". They may look dead, but it turns out they are capable of coming back to life. However, there are ways to prevent this from happening.
There are currently two known methods to stop their revival.
1. BURNING.
2. DESTROYING THE HEAD.

We were able to determine that the UMB series chemicals, UMB No. 20, contain elements that quickly destroy the cells of an infected plant.
We've given UMB #20 a new name: V-JOLT

It should also be noted as a conclusion that almost all B.O.W. Umbrella is not controlled or is subject to a low level of control. Once you release all this into the wild, you can create a huge mess, but you can’t control it.

At the end of the first film, Matthew Addison ( English Matthew Addison) becomes infected with a virus. Scientists turn him into a special mutant cyborg - Nemesis (Nemesis) - and pit him against Alice ( Alice), the second survivor.

IN fourth film She is given a drug that blocks the virus.

In the fourth film, several more varieties of zombies appeared, in particular, zombie diggers (magini), capable of digging tunnels and getting to victims from underground, a new type of dog (adjula), whose heads could be divided vertically, forming a huge, studded teeth (two individuals appeared, who were soon killed), and the executioner - a zombie giant, wielding a huge ax, with which he broke through the gates of the prison where the survivors were hiding, thereby letting in the zombies swarming around, and died only when he The head was completely blown off. In the supposedly “only place not affected by a viral infection - the city of Arcadia in Alaska,” in fact, on a ship where experiments were carried out on people, and owned by Umbrella, there was a former employee of the Umbrella secret service. Albert Wesker (Albert Wesker) and was also infected, but retained his sanity and was practically invulnerable. He couldn't adapt the virus as well as Alice, so he wanted to "absorb her DNA." During the ensuing fight, Wesker was wounded, including in the head, and fled. However, when trying to blow up the ship as a Tokyo center, he discovered a bomb in his tiltrotor. During the explosion, something flies off from the tiltrotor, and then, in the next scene, we see a parachute descending with something...

IN fifth film Wesker returned and reinfected Alice with the virus, once again turning her into a weapon as the Red Queen set out to destroy humanity.

Notes

Wikimedia Foundation. 2010.

In my homeland, Japan, Resident Evil called Biohazard(“Biological threat”) and for good reason: the most terrible evil in the games of the series has always been all kinds of viruses, and not zombies or mutants. After the release of the first part in 1996, players saw so many different infections that now you can’t really figure out how this mess with biological weapons and the living dead began.

Young operative Jill Valentine could hardly have guessed what the operation at the Spencer mansion would lead to.

"T-Virus"

For several years, Spencer, Ashford and Marcus pursued one goal - to create a drug from the "Progenitor" that would lead humanity to new level. But all experiments with flowers from Africa turned out to be a complete failure: the “Progenitor” itself killed almost all those infected - no improvements, only corpses. Then James Marcus combined it with leech DNA and got the “T-virus” - perhaps the most famous infection in the Resident Evil universe.

Compared to the "Progenitor", the "T" virus (or "Tyrant") became a kind of success: it did not kill the carriers, but turned them into mindless, bloodthirsty creatures - those same zombies. As a result, the project to improve the human race was forgotten for a while, because the opportunity to make money from the sale of bioweapons appeared on the horizon. To keep the viral mess a secret, Spencer, Ashford and Marcus founded the pharmaceutical company Umbrella, which became an excellent cover.

In the cramped corridors of the old mansion, each next such meeting could be the last.

By the end of the 1970s, several laboratories were working on the development of the T-virus, including one located under a mansion in the Arklay Mountains, as well as a complex built in Antarctica. In the latter, by the way, Edward Ashford worked together with his son. Their research helped in the future to develop a special type of “T-virus” - “T-Veronica”. This infection was in many ways similar to the Tyrant, but in some cases it retained the mind of the host.

True, in the end, all versions of the “T” virus caused terrible events. Not only did bioweapons end up on the black market, and from there into the hands of terrorists and other villains, but the lion's share of the laboratories working on the virus fell victim to their own achievements.

The first major incident involving the T-Virus occurred in 1998 at the Ozwell Spencer mansion in the Arklay Mountains. The first Resident Evil is dedicated to these events: players, along with the main characters, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, find themselves in a mysterious estate, discover a secret laboratory and learn a terrible secret about the development of a deadly virus.

"G-Virus"

Also in 1998, two months after the events at the Spencer mansion, trouble befell the city of Raccoon, located not far from the estate. Almost the entire population suddenly turned into zombies, and the fate of the survivors at that moment seemed even sadder. It's all to blame for the events that occurred shortly before the disaster in the Umbrella company complex, built right under the city (yes, another complex). And at the very center of these events was the “G-virus”.

Raccoon was never able to survive the zombie epidemic - he was simply destroyed.

But that was not the case: the top of Umbrella found out about this and sent a special squad against Birkin. The warriors did not look for those to blame and, without question, shot one of the company’s most valuable employees. Before his death, Birkin managed to inject himself with the “G-virus” and turned into a formidable monster who easily killed the entire squad. During the massacre, the mutated Birkin touched containers with the T-virus, and it ended up in Raccoon's sewers. As a result, thousands of bloodthirsty zombies are on the streets of the city. The main characters, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, managed to pacify Birkin.

This is the handsome man Dr. Birkin turned into after he injected himself with the “G-virus.”

On the black market, the “G-virus” was not as popular as the “T” virus, but this infection was also used - it was combined with the “T-Veronica” virus and the “C-virus” was obtained. The latter, if injected, turns its bearers into J'avo, creepy creatures similar to zombies, but at the same time intelligent enough to use weapons and communicate with their own kind. These monsters first appeared in.

Trip to Spain

For the first time, Leon Kennedy, the main character of the fourth part, encounters Las Plagas. He arrives in a Spanish village where, according to rumors, the kidnapped daughter of the American president is being held. There he is attacked by local residents, who at first behave like zombies, and then amaze him with the ability to grow vile tentacles (or something like that) instead of a head and generally behave not like a gentleman.

Shot off your enemy's head? No problem, he will grow a new one.

Ouroboros virus

Now is the time to return to Africa - where Ozwell Spencer in 1966 found the ill-fated flowers, from which he then developed the “Progenitor” virus. In general, the story of the main infection in the Resident Evil series has circled the globe over the course of several decades and returned to its place of origin - just like the Ouroboros snake biting its own tail. Perhaps this is why Albert Wesker, one of the most dangerous characters in the world of Resident Evil, named his creation after this creature. However, there can be many interpretations of the name.

Resident Evil 5 can be completed by two people, and a partner makes the task much easier.

"Ouroboros" became the third virus created on the basis of the "Progenitor". Albert Wesker, a former employee of the Umbrella corporation, set out to complete Ozwell Spencer's plan - the same one to improve the human race. There was only one problem: Wesker wanted to bring people to a new level of development in an extremely dangerous way - by spraying the Ouroboros virus into the air over all continents. The fact that the lion's share of the population would die was of little concern to the villain.

And the “new level of development” itself seemed wild to normal people: most often, “Ouroboros” turned an unprepared person into a terrible mess of hundreds of worm-like appendages. Nevertheless, Wesker, without any problems, launched the production of the virus in Africa, closer to the very cave where the “staircase to the sun” flowers grow, which have the necessary properties.

Wesker's plans were ruined by Chris Redfield: during the events, he and his partner Sheva Alomar killed Albert, and along the way saved his old acquaintance Jill Valentine.

"Evelina" (spoilers!)

What “Evelina” is and where she came from is not really clear. In Resident Evil 7, the infection appears in the form of a ten-year-old girl - this is how the infected see her, whose mind belongs entirely to Evelina. The rest will see a frail old woman in front of them - the rate of aging in a child is much higher than in an ordinary person.

Evelina is a pale-looking old woman in a wheelchair on the left.

Whether Evelina can be called a virus is also not known. A girl with the code name E001 is the result of work on a new biological weapon, her creator is an unknown corporation (according to some reports, it may be the Tentsu company). Apparently, "Evelina" is based on some kind of mushrooms: the infected first see hallucinations, and then become covered with black muck, similar to mold. Growing new limbs for such monsters is a common thing.

Nevertheless, all these facts only add more questions. Let's hope that the authors will answer at least some of them in future additions. Well, we will probably learn more about “Evelina” in the next part of the series.

All familiar faces!

There are more spoilers ahead here, so read at your own risk!

It's no secret that in the seventh part the developers moved away from the main events of the series. Nevertheless, there were connections with other games. Here are the most notable references to previous Resident Evil installments.

In the Bakers' house there is a picture of the Arklay Mountains - it was there that the first incident involving the T-virus occurred in 1998.

IN certain moment The main character of Resident Evil 7 receives an Albert-01 Pistol. Is this a reference to Albert Wesker or just a coincidence?

At the end of the game, the main character is evacuated by a character who introduces himself as Redfield. We're probably talking about Chris, but is this the hero we know?

Even more doubtful about the identity of “Chris Redfield” is left by a helicopter with a modified Umbrella Corporation logo on the body.

* * *

As you can see, the main evil in Resident Evil is viruses and people who seek to use these same viruses at any opportunity. Fortunately, most often the villains themselves become victims of their ambitions and turn into monsters. And then, according to established tradition, they die from a shot from a rocket launcher.
