Mantis USB Nylon Magnetic Cable – USB Type-C is a convenient and modern accessory designed to connect your smartphone to a charger, tablet or computer. You will appreciate the huge advantage of using such a wire while driving, when your phone battery runs out at the most inopportune moment, and it is dangerous to be distracted from the road. When using a cable with a magnetic adapter, you do not need to switch your attention to connecting the charger. Simply magnetize it and the charging process will begin.

Advantages of Mantis USB Nylon Magnetic Cable - USB Type-C

Simplicity and ease of use

The adapter is attached once and stays in the connector very tightly. In the future, you just need to magnetize the wire. There is no need to pull out the adapter every time, thereby wearing out the connector.

Reliability and wear resistance

Frequent use of standard cables leads to their rapid wear. The nylon braid on the Mantis cord prevents it from kinking. Tests have shown that it will not fray, will not tangle, and will withstand a minimum of 30,000 cycles.

Protecting the connector from small debris and dust

The magnetic adapter also acts as a kind of plug and protects the connector from small debris, dust and water getting into it.

Save time

You only need 1 second to connect your phone to the charger. Simply connect the cord to the adapter. They will magnetize automatically.

When the wire is successfully connected to the power source, the indicator light lights up.

I bought a cool and very convenient wire. Not wireless charging, but still very convenient. Friendly with high currents, charges Android and iPhone. It’s even useful for fast charging - it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2/3, analogues from Apple, Huawei and Mediatekl.

Applies to all magnetic wires: if used carelessly, you can burn your smartphone. Or the whole apartment.

“Magnetic” charging cable - convenient?

"Magnetic" cable it would be more correct to call "cable with plug-in connector" . The main part consists of a regular wire, a USB connector for connecting to a charger, and a contact pad with a powerful magnet.

The charging part consisting of a connector, magnet and contacts is connected to it. This part is inserted into the device's charging port. The magnets in the 2 parts of the cable attract at a distance of 1 to 5 centimeters, ensuring a strong connection and connecting the device to charging.

What is good about a “magnetic” cable? Lots of advantages:

no need to lift the cable and try to get the connector into the smartphone port,
there is no risk of breaking the port with the connector,
The connector contacts do not deteriorate.

And if the first is simply convenience, then replacing the connector is the most common reason for a device to appear in service. Breaking a port is like 2 fingers on the asphalt. Both for iPhone and Android.

By eliminating the need to insert a cable into the device every time you charge, you actually save your smartphone.

About convenience: you need to place your smartphone near the cable, and the cable will connect itself. Almost like wireless charging, but for any smartphone and doesn’t need a case. Well, or almost not needed.

How to choose?

For experiments, I chose several cables: Moizen M4, Newest and unnamed. As it turned out, these are the same wire with a different price and serial number, similar to my old SDL with one plug.

Includes meter cable and connectors: microUSB, Lightning, USB Type-C(not available in Moizen). The properties are quite tempting: a metal braid, a neat plastic USB plug, a properly made part with a magnetic pad.

There is also an LED on the magnetic pad of the cable, signaling that the wire is connected to a charger or computer.

The question arises - how did you manage to implement a “blind” connection without looking at your smartphone? After all, microUSB, Lightning and USB Type-C interfaces have a clear sequence of contacts for charging. The Chinese have found an elegant solution for this cable.

The magnetic pad on the cable is installed closer to the edge. Each of the 3 connectors has 2 pairs of similar ones. The cable is connected to the one at the bottom - this prevents incorrect pinout. You can turn the wire over to either side - it makes no difference.

Using the cable used, the smartphone can be charged and connected to the computer to transfer data with either side to the connector: turn the wire over as you wish.

Short successful test

Testing has shown that the maximum throughput cable is suitable for fast charging of any devices: up to 12 V, 2 A. Fast charging Apple charger(tested on iPad), Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0/3.0, Mediatek Pump Express.

When charging with maximum parameters, there are no failures or heating. The test is successful for all devices - you can use it.

All devices recognize the wire and work normally. Certain problems may arise with Lightning, since only 5 pins are used: although in iPhone testing 7 Plus took the wire, Apple's security mechanisms can set the heat.

All other algorithms behave like native ones. Now my Android hangs on it - all the time when I'm at my desk (about 8 hours a day with breaks). Works like a clock.

One of the serious drawbacks is that all connectors stick out quite a bit (by 2.5 millimeters) when installed in a smartphone. In the case it is almost unnoticeable, but without it at first it becomes very unusual.

And if not for one important point, you could just write a review about a good wire for pennies. The case helped to clarify one bug that applies to all magnetic wires.

How not to kill your smartphone with a magnetic cable

The smartphone is heavy enough that the wire can drag it along with it. Therefore, if the lace is held by something, when the pad is magnetized, the contacts sometimes do not press well - a small, unnoticeable gap remains.

With poor contact and high charging currents, the connector begins to heat up, which can lead to a fire.

The problem is treated very simply - just release a little more wire than necessary. Then, at the moment of docking, it will fall into place on its own. Or place the smartphone along the cable laying line, moving the smartphone along it a little immediately after docking.

The heating temperature does not exceed the temperature of a hot smartphone. But still, this is a rather unpleasant moment that is worth remembering. Is it worth abandoning “magnetic wires” because of this?
The price is like this.

Hi all. Cables with a magnetic adapter holder are not new, there are a lot of reviews on analogues, but I was tormented by one question - how will it behave when using a power supply that supports fast charging, because many devices with TYPE-C use certain technologies (in my case this PumpExpress 3.0). Looking ahead, he did it.

But let's start from the beginning. I received the cable in such a nondescript bag
And on the other side

Length - 1 meter, additionally wrapped in nylon braid, lace diameter - 4mm if not pressed.

The assembly is of high quality, there are no cracks or plastic sagging, it looks reliable.

The base is two-pin, the central pin is spring-loaded. There is a backlight and a neodymium magnet.

The adapter also has a magnet located with the opposite pole to the cable. Thanks to this, the desired side always sticks to it and holds better.

The height of the adapter base is 2.5 mm, in my case about 1 mm protrudes above the case. Many people complain that they constantly rub their little finger against the protruding contact during a conversation. I don’t know, I never touch the bottom, maybe because of the size of the phone, or maybe I’m used to it, but oh well.

Base diameter - 8mm.

There are small bevels on the sides for easier removal from the phone socket.

The magnets are good, they easily support the weight of the phone (175 grams), they did not fall off immediately even when shaken.

Built-in lighting of the magnetic base.

Not very bright, but in the dark it is quite possible to find the phone and understand which side to put the cord on.

The back of the base is made of matte plastic and it is slightly illuminated by the same backlight, the intensity is much lower, so it is not very noticeable and does not irritate. Static, does not change according to the degree of current drop.

Well, the most important thing is practice.

I have no way to check the maximum current at 5 Volts, because... There are no additional adapters, so I collected data only on PumpExpress 3.0.

First, let's look at the indicators when connecting the original cable
To be honest, I thought even if the cable gave out 9 Volts, the backlight would definitely not survive this, and then it might stop working altogether, but no, the intensity of the backlight remained at the same level - apparently the engineers took into account the likelihood that the user could plow into the block with fast charging technology. No drop in current was detected, perhaps the unit also adjusts the values to the required ones, but the cord looks impressive, and only the power line is used, there is no data line.

In addition, I edited a short video:

Such are the things, the cable performs its functions, fast charging supports. The magnetic adapter does not cause me any discomfort; after three days of use, the contacts were not clogged with debris or oxidized.
One of the obvious disadvantages is the lack of data transfer capabilities.
I bought it before the promotion started - I reduced the price to 280 rubles, so if you have points, it’s better to wait until it ends =)
