Before you find out whether you need to install an antivirus on iPhone 7, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone se, iPhone 5s, iPhone 8 and so on, you must understand that at the time of writing this entry you simply will not find it.

Yes, from time to time they appear in the AppStore, but Apple blocks them. This was the case, for example, with VirusBarier - the company is getting rid of such programs from its store.

Apple thinks that nothing can happen to their iOS platform and removes all programs that keep devices secure from storage.

Can iOS really not worry about cyber threats? Are Apple devices so secure that they don't need antivirus?

The closed form of the Apple platform, of course, increases security, but where a person controls, “specialists” can find holes.

Things would be completely different if infection was only possible by using jailbreak and installing applications outside the Apple repository.

Only at Apple do dangerous events occur where the sources of infection were not only the AppStore, but also external sources - emails, files in the cloud, and so on.

Users should have a choice - those who do not want to protect themselves or do not need them should not install an antivirus, and those who have important data, then an antivirus will never hurt.

Of course, if you don’t have valuable data, then you don’t need an antivirus - there’s nothing to argue with, but it’s better to stop Apple’s “crusade” against “antivirus” applications.

The myth that there is no malware on iOS has existed for a very long time.

This is of course not true, although the amount of malware for devices with a bitten apple is relatively small.

Iphone is considered safe and does not need antivirus

iOS's closed system doesn't make it easy for attackers to carry out attacks, and Apple even believes it has a case to make that it's not possible at all.

The iPhone maker doesn't want antivirus software on the App Store to mislead customers into telling them they can use it to detect and remove malicious software.

For this reason, most software whose name or description refers to computer viruses is removed from the official application repository.

But one of the world's leading business and technology sites published an article in which the thesis is that iOS is vulnerable to viruses and attacks.

Why iPhone needs antivirus

There is no technical reason why iOS cannot be a target for cybercriminals, although they target victims' most vulnerable areas and are therefore not very interested in attacking iOS. In addition, Apple's market share in rich Western countries is around 20-30%.

When you consider the fact that iPhones are quite expensive and their users are typically wealthier than the average Android user, they become very attractive targets.

I'm not panicking - the threat hasn't reached a high level yet, but that doesn't mean it will remain that way in the future.

It's also worth mentioning that users have always been the weakest link when it comes to security.

Security software was created largely to protect the user from bad decisions - installing applications from unknown sources is usually not a good idea.

Almost all malware is created to generate income for criminals, so the biggest income really attracts their attention. It's better to protect yourself more than necessary and keep a calm head. Good luck.
