Do you need to refill the HP laserjet p1102 cartridge? Then you are at the right place ;-). Refilling of these models will be presented using the HP36A cartridge as an example, since all other models are absolutely identical in design. By the way, in the slang of service engineers, any of these cartridges is called a “gun”. It received this name because of a feature that you will notice during disassembly of its design. So, let's begin!

There is a spring on the side that helps the curtain, which protects the photodrum from light and mechanical damage, to close automatically. The upper end of the spring must be wound (the direction of movement is indicated by the red arrow) behind a small plastic side (the green arrow points to the side).

Refilling the HP 1102 cartridge will look like this:

Then unscrew the single screw on the side.

Carefully remove the side panel (you can use a flat-head screwdriver to do this).

After these steps, it will look like this:

Now you need to separate the halves of the cartridge. Grasp one half with one hand, and, of course, the other with the other. And pull them in opposite directions (directions of movement are indicated by arrows).

Great! You now have two halves of the cartridge. We take the one with the photocell.

Carefully remove the image drum without damaging its photosensitive surface. Clean it with a dry cloth and set it aside, covering it with something to prevent light from shining on it (this can ruin it). Then remove the charge shaft - it also needs to be cleaned of deposits (if the cartridge is original, you can use a degreaser or alcohol).

Now remove the squeegee by unscrewing the two screws on the sides. And empty the contents of the waste bin.

Reinstall the squeegee after applying a little talcum powder to it.

Collect everything in the initial state, installing the charge shaft and photodrum (the photodrum also needs to be protected from light). We're done with this half, now take the other one. Unscrew the screw on the side (do not mix up the sides).

Now we remove this sidewall, holding the inner sleeve (pay attention to the photo - what the sidewall should look like).

Remove magnetic shaft.

Get out of the shell magnetic shaft core. Clean the toner shell using a degreaser if the cartridge is original. If the cartridge is compatible, then you should clean the magnetic roller with a dry cloth and only, otherwise, most likely, you will damage its surface, which will lead to printing defects (in this case, you will need to replace this component). Clean the gear too if it is in the toner.

Take the hopper itself and remove the metering blade by unscrewing the two screws on the sides

Before you start refilling the hp CE285A laser cartridge at home, cover your work surface with newspapers, paper or waste oilcloth and lay out the tools listed in the figure in front of you.

Tools needed to refill HP CE285A laser toner cartridge at home

Having prepared all the tools, get to work.

Take the cartridge in your hands and turn it towards you with the side with the drum protective shutter (moving part). Pull back the shutter until the drum unit is visible
Find a small spring on the edge of the cartridge and, picking it up with something sharp, remove it from the mechanism
Unscrew the two screws that secure the photodrum cover. Remove the cover
Grab the drum gear with your fingers and lift it out of the mechanism. Do not touch the glossy surface of the image drum with your hands, as toner will subsequently stick to your prints.
Inspect the surface of the image drum. If it is worn out, replace the photodrum with a new one; if it is not worn out, quickly put it in a dark place, as the photodrum may become illuminated by direct sunlight.
Remove the charge shaft from the cartridge and clean it with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. If you are unable to remove the charge shaft, hook it by the metal axis with an awl or other sharp object
Now you need to knock out the pins that hold the halves of the cartridge together. The picture shows outer part pin, the rest of its body is located on the inside of the cartridge
Focusing on the location of the outer part of the pin, push it out from the inside using a screwdriver, awl, knitting needle or other device convenient for you
Grab the pin that appears from the outside with your duckbills and pull it toward you until the body of the pin comes out completely.
Once both pins are removed, the cartridge splits into two halves. The left side of the picture shows the waste toner compartment, the right side shows the new toner compartment.
Take the waste toner half (the one on the left), unscrew the two screws and remove the squeegee (cleaning blade). Take a vacuum cleaner and vacuum up the waste toner. If you don't have a vacuum cleaner, you can simply turn the compartment over and pour the waste toner onto a newspaper
Thoroughly wipe all accessible parts of the waste toner compartment, and then reassemble it in reverse order.
Replace the corotron that is secured in the waste toner compartment.
Take the compartment for the new toner (it contains the magnetic shaft) and unscrew the cover on the side where there is no gear. Carefully remove it
Remove the plug that covers the toner bottle opening. Hold the magnetic shaft with your finger so that it does not fall out of the mechanism
Insert a funnel into the neck of the hopper. After thoroughly shaking the toner can, pour 120-150 grams of toner into the funnel. Don't forget to hold the magnetic shaft
Continuing to hold the magnetic shaft with your finger, close the neck of the hopper with the stopper and put on the lid. Be careful not to damage the magnetic shaft spring. Screw the cap on the neck
Take both halves of the cartridge and connect them so that the holes for the pins line up. Return the pins to their places on both sides
Wipe the charging shaft and reinstall it. Reinstall the photoconductor: holding it by the gear and twisting it, put it on the metal sleeve. Insert the second side of the photoconductor into the slot. Attach and screw on the drum cover from the end and return it to initial position spring. Put the curtain back in place
Pay attention to the end of the cartridge. The metal sleeve should not protrude from the edge of the plastic casing. It should fit tightly into the hole. A protruding bushing indicates that you have not placed the drum unit on it correctly. The protruding bushing should be driven back under the casing with careful, measured movements.
Insert the cartridge into the printer. Printing a test page. If the page is printed correctly, congratulations! You've just learned how to refill a cartridge yourself!
