Not many people know that when purchasing a printer, its cartridge is refilled “for testing.” The toner capacity is usually several times smaller. And such a cartridge runs out faster than expected. The obvious question then becomes:

Buy a fresh cartridge;

Or hand over the cartridge to a refill service;

Or buy toner and refill the cartridge yourself?

Those who work in offices know that exhausted cartridges in laser printers are not usually replaced with new ones. They need to be refilled with toner. For those who don't know, toner is an alternative to ink. Of course, refilling a cartridge only on your own and without experience is not so easy. However, on the Internet you can always find a diagram of a printer of any model and brand. This will be needed in order to assemble and disassemble it.

The simplest cartridges are those that officially allow self-refilling. On such cartridges you can find a special plug, opening which you just need to add toner. It is much more difficult to refill those cartridges that need to be disassembled. The main thing that needs to be done is to remove the top cover of the cartridge or simply remove it. This will give you access to the toner reservoir. Instructions for disassembling the cartridge specific model will be a great helper. When you refill the cartridge, do not touch the drum with your hands, because this is a very sensitive surface.

You can save money by refilling the printer yourself.

What should you pay attention to?

If you refill a cartridge at a special organization, you should know that non-professional toner can damage the cartridge. Although this does not always happen. Those who print can refill printers themselves simple texts Houses. If you have a publishing business, then the quality of printing is very important. Therefore, you should be very responsible when replacing the cartridge. All manufacturers always recommend purchasing new cartridges. If you purchase a cartridge manufactured by a manufacturer other than the printer, the warranty provided for the printer will no longer apply. Even if you buy a third-party toner, your warranty will also be void.

Another paradox is that some laser printers simply cannot be refilled. The secret is that their cartridges contain a chip installed by the manufacturer. When the printer prints the programmed number of sheets, the chip blocks the cartridge. Therefore, it will not be possible to refill it, since it needs to be unchiped. An example of a similar cartridge is the Samsung CLP-310.

What should you never do?

Do not make a hole in the cartridge yourself. To do this you need to have certain qualifications. As a rule, after drilling a hole in the case, neither the cartridge nor the printer itself lasts long.

How to refill a laser printer cartridge

In our world, every company tries to find profit in everything. Thus, in the computer industry, printer manufacturers receive most of their profits not from the sale of office equipment, but from the sale of components for it. For example, HP receives the lion's share of profits from the sale of printer cartridges.

The reason for this is that when purchasing a printer, the buyer receives a demo cartridge, which is not only half-filled, but also “refuses” to be refilled after the toner or ink runs out. And if you refill the cartridge inkjet printer quite simple, then you will have to tinker with laser printer cartridges. How to refill a laser printer cartridge?

Useful "rules"

In fact, there is nothing complicated about refilling cartridges. It is enough to understand a couple of rules and follow precautions, since the toner used to refill laser printer cartridges is harmful to health.

    It will not be possible to refill chipped cartridges for the first time at home, since the chip will need to be replaced and “cancelled.” It is better to contact specialized companies for this, where they will replace the chip and refill the cartridge.

    If you are not well versed in technology, it is not recommended to refill the cartridge yourself. Not everyone is capable of assembling/disassembling equipment, and if you scratch a sensitive element, you can completely throw it in the trash. Therefore, if you are not sure that you can refill a laser printer cartridge yourself, it is better to trust the professionals. Save your health, nerves and cartridge.

    There is no universal toner. As a result, you need to purchase exactly the toner powder that is suitable for your printer model. Don't worry, the toner packaging usually says "supported" types of cartridges.

Precautionary measures

As mentioned above, toner is very harmful to health. Do not allow it to get on your hands or into your respiratory tract. In this regard, it is recommended that you wear rubber gloves and a robe while refilling so that the toner does not get on your clothes.

Refueling should take place in a well-ventilated area. You should definitely wear goggles over your eyes, and a respirator or gauze mask over your nose and mouth. Alas, even a gas mask will not hold the toner powder, so you need to be careful when refilling and try not to spray it. But don’t worry or worry too much about your health. You won't blow it up just by refilling it.

Please remember that toner should be stored under normal conditions and at normal temperature. If moisture gets into it, it will cause the powder to “clump.” Cartridges cannot be refilled with this toner. If lumps appear, close the toner bottle and shake it.

Refueling process

Refilling a laser printer cartridge yourself is not as easy as it might seem. There are three types of cartridges:

    To refill some, you just need to remove the cap and add toner;

    To refill others, you will need to completely disassemble the entire cartridge;

    To refill chip cartridges you will need the help of professionals.

In the first case, refilling the cartridge with toner will not take even ten minutes. Place a newspaper on the table or floor and remove the cartridge from the printer. Then unscrew a couple of bolts and remove the special plug from it. Then we fill in the toner purchased at the store and insert the plug into place. Shake the cartridge, wipe off any remaining toner with a dry cloth and insert the cartridge into the printer. That's it, the laser printer cartridge is refilled.

In the second case, refilling will take longer, since you will need to completely disassemble the printer cartridge. On the Internet, for each type of cartridge there is a diagram for its complete disassembly. The principle of disassembling the cartridge comes down to the following: remove the cover, move the metal arms apart and pull out the photosensitive drum, which should not be touched with your hands. After refueling, all this is assembled in the reverse order.

Some experienced users prefer to drill a hole in the cartridge and fill it with toner. But to do this you need to know where to drill. Therefore resort to this method needed in extreme cases.

Refilling chipped cartridges at home is impossible, as it requires flashing or replacing the chip. If it turns out that you are unlucky with the cartridge, then contact a specialized company to replace the chip. After which you will be able to refill the cartridge yourself using the above methods.

The main thing is to take care of your health when refilling and avoid getting toner on your hands, face or respiratory tract. New cartridge You can buy it in a store, but health cannot.

Inkjet printer ink is one of the most expensive Supplies, which are necessary to maintain the functionality of the home office. You, like any beginning photographer, create hundreds of beautiful photographs, copy them to your computer and print them. It is a very sad situation when the printer runs out of ink. In this case, you have two options:

  • Buy new cartridges;
  • Refill the cartridges.

By following our instructions, you can save a significant amount of money on new cartridges for your device, namely on the purchase of cartridges. Refilling the cartridge yourself is many times cheaper than buying a new one.

1 The first step is to purchase a set of color inks. Ink can be purchased at your local store or ordered online.

2 Organize your workspace. Prepare a roll of paper towels and some wide tape.

3 Open the printer and remove the cartridge from the printer. While you are working with the cartridge, close the printer to prevent dust from getting on the exposed parts.

4 Wear gloves when handling ink and cartridges. They will not allow you to stain your hands with ink, which is very difficult to wash off from your skin.

5 Tear the required amount from the paper towel and fold it in two. Working on a paper towel will keep ink off your desk. Which, as we already know, are very difficult to wash.

6 Place the empty cartridge on a previously prepared towel.

7 Carefully read the instructions that come with the refill kit. From it you will learn how to properly refill your particular type of cartridge. Below is general instructions for refilling ink cartridges.

8 Remove the sticker from the cartridge and locate the ink holes. Different cartridges may have several holes, but only one leads to the ink reservoir, see which one in the instructions.

9 To uncork the ink reservoir, use a toothpick or needle. Pierce the protective layer and you will have access to the tank.

10 When refilling a color cartridge, be careful to fill the correct ink into the correct reservoir. Color cartridges use three colors of ink:

  • Magenta ink;
  • Yellow ink;
  • Turquoise ink.
To determine the color in the reservoir, dip a toothpick into it. After which you will know exactly which color and where to fill it.

11 Fill a disposable syringe with ink from a can, the required amount of ink individually for each type of cartridge (see the instructions). Also, make sure that foam forms in the syringe and that there is no air - this can damage the cartridge.

12 Insert the syringe needle into the required hole, about 1 centimeter, and slowly inject the ink. Be careful not to overfill the tank.

13 After injecting the ink, remove the syringe needle. If you have poured more ink than necessary, carefully blot the excess with a napkin.

14 Clean the ink cartridge contacts with a paper towel.

15 After cleaning the cartridge, seal the openings of the reservoirs with pre-prepared tape.
Blot the cartridge nozzles again with a paper towel until you are sure that the ink has stopped leaking.

16 Place the refilled cartridges back into the printer.

17 Close the printer cover. Then from the printer settings menu on the computer. Start printing a test page.
If the printed sheet does not contain any blemishes and displays all colors efficiently, this means that the process of refilling the cartridge was carried out at the highest level.

What you need to refill ink cartridges:

Many citizens today are armed with wonderful electronic devices which are called printers. Citizens use many models of printers, but in this article we will talk about laser printers, or rather, how the user of such a device can refill a laser printer cartridge with my own hands, saving a significant amount of money. So, if you want, all that remains is to prepare some tools and get to work.

To work you will need:

1. Medium Phillips screwdriver
2. Medical forceps or similar instrument
3. Miniature electric drill with a drill with a diameter of 1.5 - 2 mm.
4. A jar of toner corresponding to the printer model

Before we start talking directly about refilling, it should be noted that laser cartridges can have different designs, some of which have a special plug designed for refilling, while others do not have such a plug. IN Lately, cartridges without plugs are very common and such cartridges are much more difficult to refill, but it is possible. Naturally, the option with a plug is easier from the point of view of the refueling process. In any case, in order to be able to refill the cartridge, the latter must be divided into two halves.

The halves of the cartridge are fastened together using two metal pins, which are pressed into special holes flush with the body. There are pins on the sides of the cartridge. You can remove the pins quite easily using a miniature drill and medical forceps. To do this, two holes are drilled next to each pin so that you can grab the pin with the ends of the pliers, but not destroy the mounting hole.

After the pins are removed and the laser cartridge is divided into two halves, only one half, which does not contain a photoconductor, is used for refilling. The photodrum is a green cylinder, located in the other half of the structure, which is best placed in a protected place during refilling so as not to be accidentally damaged. Now you need to remove the side cover from the second half of the cartridge by first unscrewing two screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

This opens access either to the filling plug (the best option), if there is one in the design, or to the magnetic shaft (a more complex option), the freed end of which must be carefully lifted slightly and the shaft pulled out from the support hole on the other side of the housing. The operation should be performed carefully, since the shaft housing is covered with a thick layer of toner, which can crumble with sudden movements. Taking out magnetic shaft, you must try to remember his position in which he was. It is best not to rotate the shaft and carefully place it, without changing position, with its ends on two identical third-party supports, for example, on two matchboxes.

That's it, access to the toner compartment is open. Refilling toner should also be done very carefully. To do this, it is best to make a funnel out of a piece of snowflake-type paper, slightly flatten the lower end and insert it into the opened slot of the toner compartment, in its middle part. Now you need to carefully hold the funnel with one hand and hold the can of toner with the other, pour the powder into the compartment in small portions, changing the position of the funnel from time to time and lightly tapping the compartment body to evenly distribute the toner. Do not allow toner to get on the felt seals in the seats. magnetic shaft. In standard packaging, a toner jar contains the amount of powder needed for one refill. That is, in fact, all the toner in the bank must be used for refilling.

After the procedure has been completed, the magnetic shaft is carefully returned to its place. If its position has not been disturbed, the shaft should fit into the seat easily; otherwise, holding the shaft with one hand, you can try to rotate the transmission gear in different directions with the other. The magnetic shaft cannot be rotated, as this could have bad consequences for all the work done. Once the magnetic shaft is in place, the side cover is installed and secured with screws. All. You can take out the second half, combine it with the first and fasten it with pins again. The laser cartridge is ready for use. It would not be out of place to add here that many cartridge designs have a photodrum cover, which opens during operation of the cartridge due to the influence of the printer mechanism. The lid returns to the closed state thanks to a small spring, the presence of which should not be forgotten when assembling the cartridge. There are designs in which you have to remove the spring, and there are others where this is not necessary.

IMPORTANT! Work on refilling laser cartridges should always be carried out using a respiratory mask, since the composition of toner is a substance harmful to health.

Many owners of laser printers refill them. Our article will tell you how to refill a laser printer.

Laser printer cartridges are specially separated into separate removable units in most models, since they contain elements that require periodic replacement. There is no need to change any other parts of the printer.

Toner

Toner is a finely dispersed mixture of different elements: graphite, resins, iron-containing powder and some other elements. For different companies and different models laser printers, the composition of the toner is always different.

Toner should be stored at room temperature in an airtight container. Avoid working with toner near open flames or any heating elements. Before refilling the cartridge, the container with the required toner must be shaken several times to eliminate any lumps. You should also remember that you cannot refill toner from the old toner bin. The cartridge must be refilled with toner that is designed for a specific model. As a rule, the volume for refilling a cartridge is indicated on the toner container itself.

Refueling process

The cartridge, in most cases, consists of two halves, which are connected by locking inserts or latches, which is why these halves must be separated before refilling.

Next, you need to take half of the cartridge, which has a transparent plastic plug, and remove it with pliers. Toner is poured into the hole formed. It can also be poured into a transverse hole that will open in small portions. In the latter case, the plastic plug cannot be removed. Here's how to refill a laser printer cartridge.

But it is possible to refill the cartridge without disassembling it. To do this, you need to drill a hole 10-12 mm in diameter on the body of the toner hopper wall and pour toner into it. After this, the hole must be sealed with tape. The hopper can also be cleaned through this opening. Here's where to refill your laser printer.

Cleaning the hopper and the cartridge as a whole

To clean the hopper, it is necessary to remove the photosensitive drum by removing the fixing metal inserts. Do not damage the applied coating and do not expose the drum to bright light. Also, do not touch the working surface of the drum with your hands. It must be remembered that the life of the drum directly depends on its operating conditions. For example, when printing a series of 40-80 pages, the drum will wear out less than when printing a series of 2-4 sheets.

After you have removed the drum, you need to clean it of old toner. Cleaning should be done with a soft material and a small amount of toner. Next, you need to remove the rubber charging shaft, which is located near the drum, from the spring clips. The resource of such a shaft is approximately 32,000 pages. Now you need to remove the cleaning scraper - a squeegee (this is a metal plate with a plastic insert). Now you have access to the old toner bin.

Now all that remains is to assemble the cartridge halves in reverse order.

Now you know how to refill a laser printer!
