9.6 Bought a tour to Greece for 11 nights
21.05.2019Tour from "Anex", Travel in May 2019, we checked in upon arrival, there was no need to wait. The staff is friendly and speaks English. We bought breakfast on the spot and it was very good. We read reviews about broken rooms and poor cleaning - it’s not true. We had room 209, not a studio as we paid for, but a one-room with a pastoral view of a field with goats. The linen in the room is good, cleaning complied with the hotel policy, since these are apartments, it is not done every day. The room had everything as described, including an electric kettle, a Turkish pot and dishes. We didn’t use the pot or stove, the dishes are ordinary and there are plastic plates for the balcony. There were no hangers in the room, we asked for them and they brought them to us right away. The pool is clean, open 24 hours a day, we didn’t swim, it wasn’t very hot, but the Germans bathed their kids. The hotel is mostly populated by Europeans with small children or pensioners, maybe because it’s the off-season. Audibility in the hotel is good, but tolerable. You can't really hear the road. There is a good restaurant nearby (from the hotel to the right and to the right - Meze Place), you need to make a reservation even in May, but I don’t know what will happen during the season. The menu is in English, but everything is cheap and super tasty. In the opposite direction, on the road to the sea, there are many more places to eat. The distance to the beach is not very far. We didn’t really see the beach, but there were times, there is no wooden path between the hotels, but only from the hotels themselves. Sand, not pebbles, I shouldn't have brought slippers for pebbles after reading the reviews. The hotel's location is convenient for travel. We rented a scooter from Bruno in Rethymno. There is bus number 20 to Rethymnon, the stop is not far from the hotel, go left past Lidl, then along the road at the BP gas station. The cost is 1.3 euros, tickets were taken in the city, at a booth at bus stops. Taxi to the city 9 euros. The city is interesting, the buses back and forth are full. We took an excursion to the Palace of Knossos and the Heraklion Museum, but not from the tour operator, it was interesting. We went to Chania, Agia Galini, Georgoupolis and the lake near Georgoupolis by scooter. I recommend Chania and Georgoupolis, the lake and Agia Galini not so much. You can stop by, but not take a tour. I recommend the hotel to couples with small children and those who plan to travel around the island. Not for young people. There is parking and the distance in all directions is acceptable; parking is difficult in the city. The return transfer was to all hotels, it was seasick. We bought all local hotels at Lidl, much cheaper. The store always has 30% discounts on various products, including alcohol. Everything is expensive in duty free, but cheaper in Moscow. I liked my stay at the hotel, you can go if it’s not too expensive. The atmosphere is pleasant, for those who want action, it is better to choose another place.

6.4 Bought a 7-night tour to Greece
12.05.2018We wanted a hotel near Rethymno. This one was the cheapest, we didn’t plan to spend much time there. We were allowed to check in early - they fed us breakfast early in the morning, although we weren’t supposed to. The woman who manages everything is very pleasant and responsive, although she doesn’t speak English very well, but that didn’t stop us from communicating. Breakfast has everything you need - eggs (boiled, fried eggs, scrambled eggs), bacon, sausage, cheese, vegetables, muesli, tea, coffee, milk. There are few fruits, probably there will be more in the summer. If you come after 9, you risk being left with only muesli. :) But you can ask for eggs and bacon to be fried, they won’t refuse you. I also recommend washing before breakfast, then there is no hot water left. The rooms are quite ascetic, nothing extra. They clean consistently every other day, everything works properly, but if you like to find fault with everything, then look for a more expensive hotel. The kitchen is more for show, since there are almost no dishes. In the evening, unobtrusive music plays, someone plays billiards. There were no parties as such, but, probably, it all depends on the guests. The pool is deep, clean, and has a bowl for children. The hotel area is small, there is almost no greenery. It takes 5-7 minutes to walk to the beach, you don’t have to follow the highway, as they say. Beach - sand and pebbles. We didn't really like it, we were there once. On other days we went to other places by car. The center of Rethymno is about 7 km away, if you really want, you can probably walk there, we really liked it there. The main disadvantage is the proximity of the highway. You can always hear cars in the background from any room, and from higher rooms you can even see it. Wi-Fi works rarely and poorly, don’t count on it too much. Very good audibility in the rooms. At night you wake up from stomping or talking, although I always sleep like the dead. In general, everything is not bad, but if you have the opportunity to pay a little extra for another hotel, then it is better to do so. Still, in Greece you want to go out onto the balcony, see greenery or the sea and enjoy the sounds of nature.
