Many users Microsoft Outlook and owners Apple wondering about synchronizing contacts, calendars and tasks. Today I will introduce you to a new IT product that will simplify this task for you.

But first things first. Let's start with the fact that Apple has its own cloud service iPhone. And if you use Microsoft Outlook, you know that contacts, calendar and tasks are quite a hassle to sync with iCloud. I periodically had duplicates that had to be deleted. Therefore, I had a logical question: how to synchronize in the simplest and most understandable way?

EVO Collaborator for Outlook

Comes to the rescue EVO Collaborator for Outlook(ECO for short). This plugin is a bridge connecting various cloud storages, which significantly saves time and nerves during synchronization. With this plugin, integrating contacts, calendars and tasks from iCloud to Outlook and vice versa becomes possible.

I would like to immediately note that the size of this plugin is only 3 megabytes. And it’s amazing how the collaboration of Outlook with the ECO plugin breaks down the barriers between different synchronization clouds using the CardDAV and CalDAV protocols or similar ones.

But first, let's figure out what it is CardDAV and CardDAV protocols

CardDAV and CalDAV are standard open API protocols from the IETF's RFC for synchronizing contacts and calendars. And many Internet services (for example, Google) widely use APIs in their products, including for contacts and calendars, so that users can use all the functionality.

Now let's move on to how to synchronize iCloud contacts, calendars and tasks with mail client Outlook without much effort:

1.First download EVO Collaborator for Outlook (ECO for short) from the official EVO website
Download link. Please note that when you install the plugin, you must be logged in as an administrator.

2.Install the plugin

3.Open Microsoft Outlook 2007/2010/2013.

4.In the main menu bar located at the top of the Outlook window, click on the EVO tab that appears. Next, click on “Profile Settings”
5.In the window that appears, click “iCloud - not configured” and enter your username and password. Then click “Test” and “Apply”

When finished, any added or updated contacts, calendars, and tasks in the iCloud folder will be synced two-way with MS Outlook. For example, added contacts on your iPhone phone will be synchronized with Outlook. The same goes for calendars and tasks.

In addition, since CardDAV and CalDAV are generally accepted standards, you can do the same operation with Google account, Yahoo! account, AOL and many other services that support these protocols.

On iPhone full contacts are synchronized with Outlook using standard tools, without the use of additional special software or special tricks. To sync contacts and other data, you just need to create an Outlook account and properly configure the connection with your iPhone.

Adding an account

The easiest way to sync contacts with Outlook is to add a Microsoft service account to your iPhone.

After adding an Outlook account to your iPhone, go to its settings and slide the Contacts switch to the On position. Synchronization of contacts with Outlook will begin.

Sync via iTunes

Most commonly used by users to transfer contacts from iPhone to Outlook iTunes program. It has everything necessary tools to complete this task.

When synchronizing, you need to remember that iPhone treats Outlook as a data library. If in address book there are no records on the PC, the phone will perceive this as an update to zero and delete the contacts. Therefore, when confirming the desire to synchronize information, select the “Combine data” option - then synchronization will take place in both directions.

If synchronization of contacts with iCloud is enabled, you will not be able to sync them through iTunes. In this case, use the following method to copy contacts to Outlook.

iCloud for computer

Instead of iTunes, you can use the iCloud client for your computer. It synchronizes contacts in a few simple steps:

  1. Download iCloud for Windows.
  2. Install the application and restart your PC. Sign in using your Apple ID to sync data to your computer.

To synchronize contacts from iPhone to Outlook successfully, make sure that the settings on your device are set to: required parameters. Open Settings, iCloud section and check if contact syncing is enabled. cloud storage– To perform this task, the Contacts switch must be in the On position.

Once you confirm that your iPhone contacts are stored on iCloud, you can sync them with Outlook. To do this, in the iCloud for Windows program, select the item “Mail, contacts, calendars and bookmarks” with Outlook and click “Apply”.

Syncing via iCloud doesn't work

If you can't sync contacts via iCloud, make sure you're signed in to both your iPhone and computer using the same Apple ID. Also, pay attention to the data volume: if it exceeds the limit, the data will not be updated. Contact restrictions look like this:

If you're within your data limits but syncing isn't working, make sure your contacts account is set to iCloud on your device.

  1. Open settings, go to the “Contacts” section.
  2. Click " Account default".
  3. Select iCloud.

Also, try going into iCloud settings and turning data synchronization off and then back on. If this doesn't help, look for the cause of the error on your computer.
