Today I took some photos with my Nikon D7000 camera at RAW format, as recommended to me by the participants of this forum.

I've downloaded all the pictures to my computer, but when I try to drag them into Photoshop I get an error:

Some googling led me to a page on Adobe that instructed me to update Photoshop - I did. However, I still get the same error.

Should I be nervous?? !

Which camera? CS4 cannot handle the latest RAW converters and does not support the latest NEF cameras

I don't think you've updated Photoshop to CS5 or CS6, and that's what you need to do if you want to make it there. On a positive note, CS5/6 added some very nice features for photographers. Worth an update in my opinion.

No, you don't need to be nervous yet. You may need either an updated Adobe version Camera Raw, or if your camera is not up to date enough, you may have to use Nikon's RAW (ViewNX) tools to perform initial settings your photos. Once you receive the photo looking the way you want from software for RAW processing, you can export it as high quality raster image for working in Photoshop.
