In January–March 2017, Megafon closed approximately 400 communication stores. A person close to Megafon told Vedomosti about this. Operator representative Yulia Dorokhina clarifies that the company has reduced its network by more than 400 points, or 10%. This was done to increase the efficiency of the retail network and reduce the number of new connections in the market as a whole: the penetration of mobile communication services in Russia exceeded 180%, she explains. Megafon is ready to further reduce its retail network, but this will depend on market conditions, Dorokhina notes.

In Russia in general and Megafon in particular, there are too many communication stores, representatives of the operator have repeatedly said. In the summer of 2016, the company’s general director, Sergei Soldatenkov, at a meeting with analysts, promised to reduce the retail network by 25–40% to 2,500–3,000 stores within 3–5 years. The operator is going to focus not on increasing the number of customers, but on retaining the subscriber base and, by reducing retail, intends to reduce the annual outflow of subscribers from 50 to 35%, he was quoted by UBS analyst Roman Arbuzov at the time. Payments from new subscribers for services do not cover the costs of maintaining retail networks, as follows from a Megafon report published later.

Megafon's largest competitor, MTS, is also reducing retail. In the first quarter, MTS reduced 7.5% of its network. By April, it had 5,725 communication stores, says operator representative Dmitry Solodovnikov. According to him, MTS expects other operators and cellular retailers to further reduce their retail networks. This will help stabilize the market, Solodovnikov believes.

No more subscribers

According to AC&M Consulting, in the first quarter of 2017, the number of MTS subscribers decreased by approximately 1 million to 79 million, VimpelCom - by 1.3 million to 57 million. At Megafon, this figure did not change - 75.6 million. Tele2 does not disclose its subscriber base.

The retail network of T2 RTK Holding (Tele2) did not shrink in January – March, notes its representative Olga Galushina. By April, the operator had 3,400 branded salons and modules. But at the same time, retail is based on franchising. Tele2 has built a high-quality network and is now focusing on the efficiency of each point, and is also developing online sales, says Galushina.

But VimpelCom plans to expand retail. It is necessary to improve the quality of sales and expand the range of services sold, explains VimpelCom representative Anna Aibasheva. The operator does not disclose the number of salons. According to Infoline Analytics, at the end of the third quarter of 2016, VimpelCom had 3,850 points of sale, including 2,300 franchised ones.

Euroset (equally owned by VimpelCom and Megafon) and Svyaznoy are planning a tiny growth. Euroset has about 4,000 stores, the company intends to slightly increase their number, says network representative Alexandra Pertseva. During the first quarter of 2017, the Svyaznoy network increased by 32 stores to 2,732 retail outlets, notes company representative Alexandra Vinogradova. Svyaznoy plans to expand its retail network by several dozen stores by the end of the year, she says.

Cellular retail in Russia is excessive, so most retail outlets generate losses, says Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov. There has not been a significant increase in subscriber bases or an increase in phone sales, and the connection of new services and their payment are gradually migrating to the Internet. A slight increase in the number of salons is possible as their location is optimized, but radical expansion of networks is a thing of the past, notes Kuskov.

MegaFon has been expanding its network of sales points and showrooms for years, looking, so to speak, at similar actions of its main competitor, MTS, but has now decided that its work and the colossal money invested are in vain. The operator now estimates the development of its branded salons at 60 million rubles, the opening of each at 1-1.5 million rubles.

Now MegaFon has come to the conclusion that such a number of its stores is clearly excessive, and in the coming years they will face a significant reduction. Now the number of the largest networks, according to MegaFon, in Russia is over 23 thousand stores and outlets, in total - about 28 thousand. Therefore, the operator plans to close from 25 to 40% of its offline stores, reducing them from 4 to 2.5-3 thousand in the next 3-5 years.

The thing is that, despite the growth of a variety of retail outlets where you can buy SIM cards, their sales are no longer growing, because the communications market has long been oversaturated. That is, it turns out that with the growth of places where SIM cards are sold, their sales at each individual point only fall. The consumer is increasingly making purchases via the Internet, and issues of connecting/disconnecting services or changing the tariff are decided by himself through Personal Area on the operator's website.

MTS shares the competitor’s opinion, but is not ready to make a similar decision. After termination of the contract with Svyaznoy this operator only continues to reformat its trading network and the opening of more and more new salons - both contracted by RTK and under the Telefon.ru brand.

Push

If a reduction in quantity leads to an increase in quality, then I see MegaFon’s decision as extremely correct. But not otherwise. And if MTS also comes to this, the service in its RTK salons is not only below par, but simply a disgrace and a mockery of subscribers, then everything will be completely bad.

Remember the years long past, when there were operator offices - the cat cried, but they were staffed by highly qualified specialists who knew their job and were able to solve almost any problem at a high level.

What do we see now? There are salons at every turn and there is a desire to avoid them. Of course, if your goal is different from purchasing new SIM card or a case for a smartphone, which is all their sellers need in terms of earning their percentage. They have no interest or motivation to understand communication services. That’s why they are just trying to sell you something unnecessary and unnecessary.

Not long ago, there was a global failure, which took a long time to fix the problems. However, subscribers often observe difficulties in which Megafon communication does not work today 2020. In specific cases, there may be a lack of Internet access, loss of connection with all subscribers (including other operators), inability to use various services, and much more. It is possible to solve the problem yourself only in cases where its occurrence depended on the subscriber himself. In other situations, specialist advice is required.

If a subscriber detects any problems in the network, there are likely to be several different reasons, depending on what type of failure occurred and in what category of communication. Conventionally, they can be divided into the following groups:

  1. Calls. In this case, it is possible for the user to be outside the network access area, that is, in areas where there is no operator coverage. There may also be technical failures of the device or the company itself.
  2. Internet. There is also likely a lack of coverage, a busy service, or internal problems with the global network.
  3. SMS. The instant messaging service may also fail. They are often associated with internal problems system, lack of messages in the package (applies to tariffs with subscription fee), as well as funds on the balance sheet.

IN in some cases There may be difficulties using the company’s specialized services (television, official application, etc.). It is possible to solve communication problems with Megafon today 2020 yourself (in the settings) or with the help of company representatives in person or by calling the contact center.

Communication problems Megafon today

A lack of connection or poor quality is often likely due to problems with the network itself. In such cases, two reasons are most likely:

  • carrying out preventive work (temporary in nature, as a rule, these works are notified in advance);
  • server infection computer virus(in practice it happened several times).

Nowadays, communication difficulties arise quite rarely. Sometimes during holidays (in particular, New Year's), they are caused by excessive network congestion. But the problem is also temporary and does not require a mandatory solution.

No connection Megafon today

A complete lack of communication may indicate possible problems:

  1. Being out of reach. Problems often arise when traveling in another region. To avoid them, it is recommended to find out information about the availability of coverage in advance.
  2. Internal breakdown of the phone. As a rule, this concerns damage to the SIM card slot, modem or antenna.
  3. Damage to access points. In such cases, the tower providing communications in a specific area is probably not working. Check this information perhaps by calling or submitting an online request to the customer support center.

You should also find out information about possible breakdowns or preventive maintenance at the customer support center. However, in such cases, you should be prepared for the fact that network congestion and busyness will not allow you to quickly find out what is wrong with Megafon communications today.

What are the problems with Megafon today?

The company provides classic services, as well as high-speed Internet throughout Russia. Every year, coverage areas in the regions are growing, and the organization itself is developing and improving the services provided. However, not all cities still have an LTE connection; some do not even have access point towers. Decide this problem possibly by user request. In other cases, 2G and 3G connections are usually connected, which function almost everywhere. If they do not connect, it is necessary to check the serviceability of the device being used and its antenna. You should also pay attention to the connection indicator, which shows the distance of the nearest tower from the subscriber.

There is another problem, also related to the presence of towers. It consists of frequent network congestion, which does not allow it to be used fully. In such cases, coverage extension is also required.

The connection is not working well - what to do?

First of all, if Megafon does not work, you need to find out the nature of the malfunction. The company often notifies about possible failures on official pages V in social networks, as well as via SMS messages. You can also call the phone hotline to clarify this issue.

If the reasons do not lie in connection failures, it is recommended to carry out the following operations with the phone:

  • reboot the device;
  • remove the SIM card and reinsert it into the slot;
  • move the SIM card to another device (this way, it is possible to find out if there is a possible breakdown in the phone);
  • configure the network manually (select an operator and connection type: 2G, 3G or 4G).

As a rule, at least one of the proposed methods works.

Why doesn't 3G and 4G Megafon work?

Separate access towers are responsible for the 3G and LTE (4G) networks. And if Megafon does not work today when using this particular coating, there are two most likely reasons for the phenomenon (in addition to equipment malfunction):

  1. absence of a subscriber in the coverage area;
  2. malfunctions in the operation of towers.

If you previously managed to use services on the territory successfully, the most likely reason is a technical failure of the coverage. In this case, information about the malfunction should be reported to contact center or chat with a specialist.

SMS does not work on Megafon: what to do?

First of all, you need to check the balance status or the presence of SMS in the purchased package of messages (if any). If in both cases there are no resources, the message will not be sent. To resume using them, you will need to top up your account or purchase additional package services.

Other possible reasons include:

  • Incorrect entry of SMS center number. It is necessary to check the accuracy of the recorded number and the presence of +7 or 8 at the beginning (the number must be 11 digits).
  • There is a ban on sending instant messages. To disable the service, you need to dial *330*111#.
  • Phone limitations or problems. In this case, you should check the SIM card on another phone, or reboot yours.

If Megafon still doesn’t work today in terms of sending SMS, it is recommended to contact support service. It is available at the hotline number, technical support, as well as in online chat on the company website.

conclusions

Despite the constant expansion of network capabilities, communication problems continue to appear and recur for most subscribers mobile operator. But the cause of problems does not always lie in the incorrect operation of services, and often the prerequisites for this are technical failures of the user’s device, zero balance or the subscriber is out of coverage area. In all cases, it is possible to solve the problem of restoring a high-quality connection, but to do this it is necessary to correctly determine the cause of its deterioration.

You can often hear that some people prefer to use two or several instead of one SIM card. This is explained by the loyal policy of Megafon, which provides a wide selection of tariff plans for its subscribers. Different tariff plans offer different favorable conditions for communication.

Some tariffs are designed for making calls abroad, some for the Internet and SMS correspondence. It is not surprising that many users of Megafon services prefer to connect several SIM cards at once, which they use alternately.

But it also happens when a subscriber does not use one of the SIM cards for some time. Then the question arises: what to do if you haven’t used your Megafon SIM card for a long time? Is it possible to simply insert it into the phone and continue using it, or do you need to perform certain actions to do this - go to a mobile phone store or call the operator from another number?

There can be a lot of reasons why people temporarily do not show subscriber activity

For example, you were away (went on vacation, worked in another country, or simply left your hometown for a couple of months. And now you come home, “turn on” your native SIM card, and they tell you that it is not active? What should you do? in this case? You need to contact the support center (salom mobile communications Megafon), where they will advise you and explain what your next steps are.

Representatives of the Megafon company reported that in most cases the SIM card can be restored without problems. If your card is blocked, you can contact a Megafon representative at any time and your number will be restored.

In addition, you can immediately select a more profitable tariff plan and connect it after starting to use mobile communications and the Internet on more favorable terms. It makes sense to select a new tariff if you are not satisfied with the old one, or if its validity period has expired (the company “closed” the old tariff by releasing a new modification with more favorable conditions for subscribers).

In what cases can a subscriber restore his number:

  • If the SIM card was registered to you and not to someone else. Otherwise, you will have to go to the communication salon with the person in whose name the SIM card is registered.
  • If at the time of your contact with specialists, your previous number has not been transferred to other users of Megafon services.

There are cases when a subscriber, having a SIM card registered in his name, cannot restore it, because during the period of absence of his subscriber activity the number was transferred to someone. To find out what happened to your number while you were not using it, dial the short digital combination 0500. Even on a blocked card, you can send free sms message to this number, after which you will receive a notification with necessary information. Also, any subscriber can go to their personal account, select the “Support” section there and contact the company’s operator with a letter in which they must indicate the number they want to restore.

How to find out the “expiration date” of the number?

All Megafon subscribers need to know the expiration date of the SIM card, at least in order to periodically turn on the old SIM card, which they expect to use in the future. Some people only turn on one of their SIM cards when they need to use services provided by a certain tariff plan. Let's say you need to call another country. If your SIM card has a positive balance and you do not use it for a long time, then after 45 days you will begin to be charged an inactivity fee.

The amount will be charged daily in the amount of 15 rubles. Write-offs will occur as long as there is money in your account. Exactly until this moment, the number will be saved for you (or for the subscriber who bought the SIM card). When the balance reaches zero, the countdown begins until the number is deactivated. You can top up your account and continue to use the number for 89 days after the balance reaches 0. On the 90th day after not using the SIM card, the subscriber's number will be blocked.

If the blocked number was previously transferred by the user from a “foreign” operator, then restoration is possible within 9 days from the moment of disconnection.

A subscriber who has not used a Megafon SIM card for a long time can restore his number at his own request. Number restoration is charged accordingly, established by Megafon. Restoring a number will require certain financial costs, and the higher the “rating” of the number, the greater the amount that the subscriber will have to pay for the service. Some people don't want to buy new number, because they are used to the old.

Often the number cannot be changed due to the person’s area of employment. Let's say that the previous number is known to a huge number of clients, employees, friends, relatives, and colleagues. Then changing the number becomes a problem.

The need to restore the previous number may be caused by a significant amount of money that remained in the subscriber’s account before he stopped being active as a subscriber:

  • Regular number – 0 rubles (federal), 500 rubles (city).
  • Bronze number – 375 (federal), 3000 (city).
  • Silver number – 2500 (federal), 12500 (city).
  • Gold number – 7500 (federal), 17500 (city).
  • Platinum number – 12500 (federal), 25000 (city).

As you can see, if you do not use a Megafon SIM card for a long time, then the number will be blocked. But not irrevocably. The operator always reserves the right for its customers to resume subscriber activity on the previous number and continue to use the selected tariff. Having become familiar with all the nuances of number restoration and “armed” with the necessary information, subscribers will no longer waste a lot of nerves and time figuring out the details.
