One of the most popular router models on the domestic market. The basis for its wide popularity is a reasonable balance of a sufficiently powerful signal, affordable price and ease of setup. However, some nuances arise here too - among the most common questions is traditionally called configuration.

Why do you need to update your router software?

Something to take into account right away - regular updates software plays a huge role in the stable and efficient operation of each router. Required condition This means working with current version BY.

Otherwise, the likelihood of various software failures significantly increases - including freezing, incomplete functionality of the device, etc. Therefore, if the current version of the software becomes outdated, you should take care of updating the firmware - we will consider an effective approach for this.

Let's move on to the firmware - a simple procedure

Installation is carried out according to the following procedure:

How to check the functionality of the router after flashing and configuration

Next, we move on to the final stage of the router firmware - testing and making sure it works. Through this procedure, we have to determine whether the device allows access to the Internet. To do this, we adhere to the following testing order:

  • Turn on the computer and router.
  • You should wait until the connection is completed.
  • It remains to launch one of installed browsers on your computer. Enter any site into address bar browser.
  • The site should open in 10–15 seconds.
  • If the firmware and setup were successful, you will be able to fully launch and view sites, otherwise you should repeat the firmware and setup procedures, making sure there are no errors.

The other day after unsuccessful firmware distributor ASUS RT-G32 (ver. C1) The device completely refused to work. It was impossible to even enter the device management page (I mean addresses 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1 ). Tips on forums about restoring factory firmware using the program tftpd32 didn't help. To be honest, I began to fear that I would no longer have Wi-Fi and began to figure out in my mind what would be more profitable - to give my Asus to a workshop or to buy a new network distributor. However, the situation was alleviated by the leadership from one foreign network (the link will be below) - I’m translating the sequence of actions into Russian.

Note before you start - you will need O. With. Windows to perform these actions; For Linux, unfortunately, there is no manual.

If you recently became the owner of an Asus RT G32 router and encountered certain problems during its connection and configuration, then you have come to the right site. In this article we will look at the most common problems, which you encounter when setting up this router, and we will also tell you about some operating tricks.

First, you must definitely ask your provider for the following configuration features that will be entered directly during setup: protocol (PPTP, L2TP, PPPoE), IP properties (static or dynamic, automatic or manual assignment of IP and DNS), as well as the presence (or absence) binding the network card by MAC address. It also wouldn’t hurt to find out if a special login and password have been set for logging into the router’s control panel.

IN next step our path lies in the properties of the local network connection (Control Panel - Network and Sharing Center - our Internet connection - left-click on it - Properties). We look for “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), click on “Properties.” In the “General” tab, click “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain a DNS server address automatically.” Click “OK.”

At this point, you should already have an Ethernet cable connected from your computer to the router, into the LAN 1 connector. It is recommended to reset the settings before the first setup - this is done very easily: press the Reset button for 10 seconds.

The site will require authentication - login and password. If your provider does not set any specific data, then enter the standard ones - admin in the login and admin in the password. You can also find information on the login and password from the router control panel on the bottom of the router.

After all the operations, we find ourselves. First of all, indicate the protocol of your operator on the “WAN” tab in the “WAN connection type” line. If the address is provided automatically, we leave everything as is. If you need to register the IP address and DNS manually, then check the “No” box in “Obtain a WAN IP address automatically?” and enter the parameters below.

The main part setup is complete. Now - WiFi setup. This is the "Wireless Network" - "General" tab.

  • SSID - the name of your router;
  • Hide SSID - whether you need to display the router name or not;
  • Country code - select your country;
  • Mode wireless network, Channel width - leave as is;
  • Channel - it is advisable to set something other than automatic or the first - optimally 6 or 9. This setting will help you speed up your wireless Internet connection;
  • Expanded channel - leave it as is;
  • Authentication method is WEP, WPA or WPA2. The most modern is WPA2, so we install it. The rest of the settings are default.

You can also enter your own password in the WPA Pre-Shared Key field. That's all on this page - you can click "Apply".

Now go to “Administration”, where we click “Reboot” and “Exit”. The router will be completely ready for use after a reboot.

This is all we wanted to tell you about setting up a router of this model. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments and we will definitely answer them. See you on the pages of our website!
