The HDMI interface allows you to transfer audio and video signals from one device to another. In most cases, to connect devices, it is enough to connect them using an HDMI cable. But no one is immune from difficulties. Fortunately, most of them can be quickly and easily solved on your own.
First, make sure that the connectors on your computer and TV are the same version and type. The type can be determined by its size - if it is approximately the same for the device and the cable, then there should be no problems when connecting. The version is more difficult to determine, since it is written in technical documentation to the TV/computer, or somewhere near the connector itself. Typically, many versions after 2006 are quite compatible with each other and are capable of transmitting sound along with video.
If everything is in order, then firmly plug the cables into the connectors. For better effect they can be fixed with special screws, which are provided in the designs of some cable models.
List of problems that may arise when connecting:
- There is no image displayed on the TV, although there is one on the computer/laptop monitor;
- No sound is transmitted to the TV;
- The image on the TV or laptop/computer screen is distorted.

Cables or connectors that are too old do not support ARC technology. Also, sound problems may occur if you use 2010 or newer cables early year release.

If the PC video card (see) does not have an HDMI connector, you can use an adapter from DVI to HDMI. Typically, such devices are equipped with splitters and are capable of transmitting a signal to several devices.
However, the scan in this case will be somewhat lower and “heavy” formats with a resolution of more than 1080p will be problematic to watch.

Connecting a computer to TV
To do this, we need an HDMI cable type A, which can be purchased at any computer store. All that remains is to find HDMI connectors on your TV and computer. As a rule, they are located on their back side. On a computer, this connector is located next to the monitor connector. If the computer has a built-in video card, then the socket, in most cases, is located near the USB ports.
If the TV is placed on the wall, it may be difficult to connect the HDMI cable. You can get out of this difficulty by using an HDMI angle or by purchasing a cable where one of the plugs is located at an angle of 90 degrees.
There are video cards where the additional connector is not HDMI, but DVI. In such a situation, you will need to additionally purchase a DVI-HDMI adapter. If the video card does not have HDMI and DVI ports, then you will not be able to connect the TV to the computer using this method.

Call on the desktop context menu by clicking the right mouse button.
If Windows 7 is installed on your computer, then select “Screen Resolution”, then find the line “Screen” and select suitable option. If the connected TV is not automatically detected, then in the same window click the “Find” button and wait until the search for the TV is completed.
Your computer's desktop will appear on the TV screen. If necessary, in the properties of the video card you can adjust the resolution, desktop size, color correction and make other image settings.
If you often use your TV as a second monitor, then many video cards have modes such as “Clone” or “Mirror”, where both displays are configured exactly the same. You can also make both monitors work independently of each other, all of which is available in the Extended Desktop mode.
By connecting HDMI-HDMI, sound is most often transmitted to the TV audio channel from the computer without additional cables and any special problems. The main thing is to configure the audio parameters of the computer by using the “sound output via HDMI” option. It should be noted that if the TV is equipped with an HDMI version 1 port, then audio will not be transmitted. Also, sound will not be transmitted when connected via VGA, DVI, and some video cards do not have a sound chip for HDMI.
Many owners of laptops and computers lack the diagonal size of their “native monitor”. If for constant work the conventional 15-24 inches is more than enough, then for good games or there won't be enough films. To fully enjoy the gameplay or watching a movie, you can use a TV instead of a standard screen. They work no worse than those sold in our stores. And expensive models will be justified only if you often watch videos in Full HD quality.

For TV screens that support a resolution of 1920 x 1080, you can set the resolution to 1280x720, and the stash of folders and files on the TV will be displayed in large sizes.

Screen resolution problem
The problem may arise from a mismatch between the resolution of the TV screen and the monitor or laptop screen.
For example, there is an LG 19M35A-B monitor that supports HD resolution 1366 x 768, and we have a TV that supports screen resolution 1920 x 1080 in Full HD video format.
In this situation, it will not be possible to achieve an ideal picture on both screens at the same time. Here you need to choose what is most important now and set this resolution in the settings (see above).
Or get a monitor, for example, LG 22MP55D-P, which already supports Full HD 1920x1080 resolution and then you will have an ideal image on both devices.
Desktop Extensions Method
This method is not suitable for everyone. It is necessary that your computer's video card settings allow you to adjust the resolution of multiple displays.
Most NVidia video cards have such capabilities.
Again, right-click anywhere on the screen and go to “Screen Resolution” (see above).
- Set the main screen to, for example, the BeenQ monitor;
- Resolution 1280 x 1024;
- Orientation – landscape;
- Multiple screens – expand these screens.
No sound
Reason 1
Situations where there is no sound after connecting the computer to the TV are common.
You need to remember that both video and audio signals are transmitted via an HDMI cable, and if the TV supports 3D, you need a cable version 1.4 or higher.
But, as a rule, this is not a hardware problem, but a software one. All settings are in Windows 7 OS.
At the top, click on the “Sound” menu item.

When the image is displayed both on the laptop and on the TV, this is not always convenient. On a laptop, you can choose one of three (or even four) modes for displaying images on an external screen (projector), in our case a TV.
