Many users give their preference, which is called Google Chrome. This is a great browser, but it also has glitches sometimes. Today we’ll look at a glitch where Google Chrome is on top of all windows, and accordingly blocks all other windows, as well as the taskbar.

Let me explain in a little more detail what this problem is:

With the browser maximized to full screen, you try to switch to another application using Alt+Tab (or for example Win+Tab), but you can’t do it because Google Chrome still remains in the foreground.

If your taskbar is automatically minimized, then it also becomes blocked. Namely, when you move the mouse pointer to the edge of the screen, the taskbar does not appear.

That is, Google Chrome is always in the foreground (on top of all windows), and until you minimize it or close it, you cannot access other applications.

At first glance, the problem seems insignificant and can be solved by simply restarting the browser, but in reality it turns out to be much more serious. Let's not forget the fact that many users do not have unlimited Internet, and they count almost every megabyte! In addition, some users like to keep quite a few open tabs in the browser. In this situation, restarting doesn't seem like a good idea anymore!

As a result of searching for information about this problem on the Internet, this is what I found:

Some say that this is just a bug, and it will be fixed soon, we just need to wait a little. Others give frankly stupid advice that will not help with this problem at all. Still others take a very radical approach to this issue and suggest changing the browser.

Solution

Most likely, everyone knows that tabs open in the browser can be moved from one place to another, as well as unpinned, after which they no longer become a tab, but a new window. The same can be done with several tabs at once. The solution to this problem is based on this principle.

You need to do the following:

1) Go to the outermost tab, then hold down Shift and while holding it, go to the outermost tab from another browser messenger. This way you will have all the tabs selected at once.

2) Now grab any tab with the left mouse button, and without releasing it, pull it down and then release it.

That's it, the problem was solved quickly, and without restarting the browser!

If Google Chrome unexpectedly quits and won't start, the tips below will help you fix the problem or find out the cause.

Solving the Google Chrome problem

Try restarting your browser

On the computer:

  1. Quit and restart Chrome.
    • Windows: Press Ctrl + Q.
    • Mac: Press Command + Q.
  2. Try loading the page again.

Advice: on your computer, you can restore everything previously open tabs:

  • Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + T.
  • Mac: Press Command + Shift + T.

On a mobile device

  1. Open the application menu:
    • iOS: Double-click the Home button.
    • Android: Tap the icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Swipe up inside Chrome windows to close them.

Restart your device

Sometimes other programs or applications prevent the page from loading correctly. Shut down and restart your computer or mobile device, and then try loading the page again.

Close all other tabs

It is possible that your computer does not have enough available memory to load the page. To launch pages, applications, extensions and programs, the computer uses random access memory. If there is too little, they may work slowly or stop working altogether.

Close all tabs except the one showing the error or loading error, and then try loading it again.

Check for conflicting software

You can check for a conflict software Windows by entering address bar about:conflicts. If you have software that is known to cause Google Chrome crashes, it will be highlighted on this page. Recommended actions to resolve the conflict will also be described.

In many cases, the conflicting software is malicious software that needs to be removed using antivirus software.

Check if you need a new browser profile

If this is not the first time you have seen an error message, your browser profile may be corrupted. First try deleting the "Default" subfolder from the "User Data" folder and check if the problem is resolved.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open the window Execute(press Win + R).
  2. Enter one of the following directories in the field (depending on your operating system).

    Windows

    • Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%/Local Settings/Application Data/Google/Chrome/User Data/
    • Windows Vista and Windows 7: %LOCALAPPDATA%/Google/Chrome/User Data/

    Mac OS X

    ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default

    Linux

    ~/.config/google-chrome/Default

  3. Click OK.
  4. In the window that opens, rename the “Default” folder to “Backup”.
  5. Move the Backup folder from the User Data folder up one level to the Chrome folder.

If the error still occurs, create new profile to replace the existing one.

Try opening the page in another browser

To find out whether a site page is causing the problem or Chrome browser, try opening this page in another browser. You can use another web browser such as Firefox or Safari.

If the page opens in another browser, follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall and reinstall Chrome. The problem may be caused by your Chrome profile. Uninstall Chrome and be sure to check the Delete browsing data box. Then reinstall Chrome.
  2. Remove and reinstall extensions. The cause of the problem may be one of Chrome extensions. Remove all extensions and then add them one by one.
  3. Solve hardware acceleration problems. The problem may be poor communication between your computer or device and your browser.

To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Open Chrome menu → SettingsShow additional settings System.
  2. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration if available.
  3. Restart Chrome.

If a site doesn't work in another browser, there may be a problem with the network or with the site itself. More detailed information you will find below.

Google is winding down its new operating system for personal computers "Chrome", combining it with the well-known mobile OS "Android".

One operating system

In 2017, or rather at the very beginning, Google will again have only one operating system on the market. Now Android will not only be on smartphones and tablets, but will also move to personal computers. Next year a demo version of the new unified Android operating system will be shown. This move should help unify Google's products and make it much more attractive to software developers. However, these attempts are still at a very early stage, so it is difficult to say now what all this will lead to. Moreover, some sources report that there is a possibility that Google will continue to support Chrome - and three operating systems at the same time.

Three operating systems

However, which three operating systems are we talking about? After all, Google has Android and Chrome. It turns out that Google is also considering a scenario in which the company will continue to support both Android and Chrome, and will also launch a new project that will combine the best features of these two systems. Until now, Google has drawn a clear line between its two operating systems. There was ChromeOS, which is based on the Google Chrome web browser and designed for laptops and Chromebooks, and AndroidOS, which uses much less resources and is designed for smartphones and tablets, as well as other devices such as smart watches or TVs.

Hints of unification

It has been revealed that Chromebooks will be renamed as soon as the new unified operating system hits the market (if it does). However, so far no new name has been invented for Chromebooks. The web browser will retain its name, and a ChromeOS version will also be available with open source code. The move doesn't come as a complete surprise - Google representatives have said in the past that there is a possibility that Android and Chrome will merge over time. In 2014, the first step was already taken - Google merged two teams working on these operating systems into one. Another point that also confirms this hypothesis is the release in September 2015 of a hybrid tablet-laptop, the first product in the Pixel line that will be equipped not with the Chrome operating system, but with Android. As a result, there is enough evidence that these two operating systems will eventually become one. However, Google representatives themselves refused to comment on this information.

What lies ahead?

So, what awaits people in the future, if we consider Google specifically? On this moment There is no evidence yet that the merger of the two operating systems will happen. Moreover, there are other theories - such as, for example, the theory of three operating systems. Considering the fact that Google refuses to comment on anything, it will not be possible to say for sure until company representatives break the silence and reveal their secrets. In the meantime, you should be patient and imagine what it would be like to use Android on personal computer. Or what the third operating system will be like if it actually appears on the market and really combines all the best from Android and Chrome. Already next year it will be possible to draw any informed conclusions, and in 2017, it is quite possible that users will be able to see the new operating system, no matter what it turns out to be.
