Your OS recognizes the iPhone as digital camera and can copy images from it just like from a memory card.

This is how it is done on Mac:

  • After establishing a connection using the cable and after 5 seconds, you should usually automatic start standard application"Image Capture" If this does not happen, you can open it manually (located in the program section);
  • All images will be presented in the window of this utility that opens. At the same time, copying them is quite simple: you need to select the ones you need and move them to a specific folder.

On Windows it's a little different:

  • We connect the gadget to the computer. Literally after 5 seconds you will see a pop-up startup window on the screen. If this does not happen, then you need to go to “My Computer” and open the iPhone as Portable device(for Windows 7) or as a camera if you have WinXP;
  • Next, open the storage of the iPhone itself, after which we go to the DCIM folder. Its contents usually consist of two or three folders containing photos and video files;
  • We find our photos and copy those that need to be transferred to the computer;
  • Paste it into a folder previously created on the PC. Once you've finished importing your files, you can unplug the cord from your computer.

Note. The first time you connect your iPhone to your computer, a message will appear on the iPhone screen asking: “Trust this device?” Of course, if you want to transfer photos, you need to select the “trust” option.

If you still can't import photos to your computer or your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as a camera, follow these steps.

Transferring Images via iCloud

Check if you can use iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream

If you turned on iCloud Photo Library on Mac computer and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, your photos may already be on your computer.

You can go to iCloud.com and open the Photos app to browse your entire library and select photos to import. If you haven't turned on iCloud Photo Library, try using the iCloud Photo Library feature to access photos on your computer. My photo stream.

If you're not using iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream, try the following:

  • Check connections and update software.
  • Try importing photos using a different Apple USB cable.
  • If import still fails, update your software.
  • Download latest version iTunes.
  • Try importing photos again.

How to transfer photos from iPhone to computer via wifi?

In addition to connecting via wire, transferring photos can also be done via wireless connection. Before starting the transfer, you will need to synchronize via Wi-Fi.

From computer First you need to connect your device using a cable and open iTunes. On the left side of the window, in the “Devices” block, you need to select an iPhone or iPad for synchronization. In the “Overview” tab in the “Parameters” block, you will need to check the box next to “Sync. devices via Wi-Fi." Now the gadget will automatically synchronize when it is on the same network with a computer on which iTunes is installed.

From phone synchronization can be started through the device settings. To do this, in the “General” menu you will need to select “Sync with iTunes over Wi-Fi.” The presence of synchronization is indicated by an icon in the phone tray. The device now appears as connected. Consequently, all actions on it can be performed in the same way as when connecting using a regular cable - twisted pair.

Try using a different computer

If the camera doesn't appear in Device Manager, check that your iOS device is working properly by connecting it to another computer. If on another computer iOS device is recognized as a camera, contact Microsoft or other Windows support on your computer for assistance.

Apple iOS 7 doesn't trust my computer. Problems transferring photos from iPhone

There is a cruel way if all attempts to enter the password have been exhausted and there is no computer that your iPhone “trusts”.

  1. Connect iPhone to computer using USB cable, which is equipped with the standard kit.
  2. Among all devices will appear Apple iPhone, Personal Computer recognizes it as a digital camera.
  3. To access the Lockdown folder, launch the Finder program on Mac OS. In others operating systems Calling the trust window on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is also done by clearing the Lockdown folder on the computer.
  4. After “trust” on the computer, iTunes sees the iPhone.
  5. You must wait until the computer detects your digital camera. Then you need to go into the device, select photos, copy them to the clipboard and move them to a folder on your computer. With help iTunes programs You can transfer not only photos to your computer, but also music, ringtones, videos and much more. First, you need to connect your iPhone to your computer with a USD cable. When the computer sound signal will notify you that a new device has been found, you should open iTunes.
  6. If your iPhone is configured Email, then the photos can be sent via e-mail, and then transferred to a computer. You can transfer photos without connecting a USB cable to your computer; this is easy to do via shared folder cloud service Yandex.Disk.

Importing photos using cloud services

An excellent alternative to the second method, because by using auxiliary cloud services, you can quickly transfer a large number of photos from your iPhone to your computer. For this you need good internet connection, as well as having a registered account in one or more services: Yandex.Disk, DropBox, Cloud Mail.Ru. If you have a small number of images, even email will do.

The algorithm of actions is very simple:

  • transfer photos from your iPhone to a file hosting service;
  • then download the downloaded files from a file hosting service, but only through a computer.

As you can see, copying photos from iPhone to computer is absolutely easy. Once you've got your hands full, you can transfer your footage in less than 5 minutes.

Recently, a friend connected her iPhone 5s to her computer, but it stubbornly refused to see the photo. Tragedy? No.

If your laptop or computer is stubborn and you can’t see the photo or the device itself, then the problem is most likely in the cable, computer or iPhone connector.

Easy to check. Just try connecting a different cable or media (maybe a different smartphone).

Also, this can be caused by the lack of a driver or incompatibility of standards.

Why does the PC see the iPhone, but not the photo?

What could lead to this? It’s rare, but the iPhone simply may not be recognized by Windows 10 or another version.

One solution is to use a Mac OS emulator, which should give access to smartphone data. You can also log in with your details Apple service iCloud and download photos to PC.

ATTENTION: your computer must have trusted status - on the screen of the unlocked device, confirm the trust request.

Also, look to see if any applications that use the camera or directory with pictures are active - if you find them, close them.

NOTE: Judging by the comments, I noticed that not everyone can solve this problem based on the post on this page, so I have prepared other solutions to this problem. I recommend that you familiarize yourself with them.

Why doesn't the computer see part or half of the photo from the iPhone?

If you don’t see pictures from your iPhone in Stream or on Yandex disk on your computer, make sure you have an active Internet connection. Without the Internet, My Photo Stream or Yandex disk will not display photos.

Also check if there are missing photos in the deleted album (Trash) and make sure you are signed in to iCloud using the appropriate Apple ID.

WARNING: Photos or videos copied to your device from using iTunes, are not copied to iCloud Picture Library, so you may not see half or part of it.

Good day.

If we take statistics on problems with PCs, users have a lot of questions when connecting various devices to the computer: flash drives, external hard drives, cameras, TVs, etc. There can be many reasons why a computer does not recognize a particular device...

In this article I want to look in more detail at the reasons (which, by the way, I have often encountered myself) why the computer does not see the camera, as well as what to do and how to restore the functionality of the devices in one case or another. So, let's begin…

Connection wire and USB port s

1. USB cable with which you connect the camera to the computer;

2. USB port into which you insert the wire.

This is very easy to do: you can connect, for example, a flash drive to the USB port - and it will immediately become clear whether it works. The wire can be easily checked by connecting a telephone (or other device) through it. It often happens on desktop PCs that the USB ports on the front panel are not connected, so you need to connect the camera to USB ports on the back wall of the system unit.

In general, no matter how trivial this may sound, until you check and make sure that both are working, there is no point in “digging” further.

Camera battery/accumulator

When purchasing a new camera, the battery or accumulator included in the kit is not always charged. Many, by the way, when they turn on the camera for the first time (inserting a dead battery), they generally think that they bought a broken device, because... it won't turn on or work. An acquaintance who works with similar equipment regularly tells me about such cases.

If the camera does not turn on (it does not matter whether it is connected to the PC or not), check the battery charge. For example, Canon chargers even have special LEDs (light bulbs) - when you insert the battery and connect the device to the network, you will immediately see a red or green light (red - the battery is low, green - the battery is ready for use).

Charger for CANON camera.

The battery charge can also be monitored on the display of the camera itself.

Enabling/disabling the device

If you connect a camera that is not turned on to a computer, then absolutely nothing will happen, it’s the same as just inserting a wire into a USB port to which nothing is connected (by the way, some camera models allow you to work with them when connected and without additional actions).

So, before you connect your camera to the USB port of your computer, turn it on! Sometimes, when the computer does not see it, it is useful to turn it off and on again (with the wire connected to the USB port).

Connected the camera to the laptop (by the way, the camera is turned on).

As a rule, Windows after such a procedure (when connecting a new device for the first time) will inform you that it will be configured (new Windows versions 7/8 install drivers automatically in most cases). After setting up the equipment, Windows will also notify you about it - all you have to do is start using it...

Drivers for the camera

Not always and not all versions of Windows are able to automatically detect the model of your camera and configure drivers for it. For example, if Windows 8 automatically configures access to a new device, then Windows XP is not always able to select a driver, especially for new equipment.

If your camera is connected to a computer, but the device is not displayed in “my computer” (as in the screenshot below), you need to go to device Manager and see if there are any yellow or red exclamation marks there.

“My computer” - the camera is connected.

How to access device manager?

1) Windows XP: Start->Control Panel->System. Next, select the “Hardware” section and click on the “Device Manager” button.

2) Windows 7/8: press the button combination Win+X, then select Device Manager from the list.

Windows 8 - start the Device Manager service (combination Win buttons+ X).

Carefully review all tabs in Device Manager. If you connected a camera, it should be displayed here! By the way, it is quite possible, just with a yellow icon (or red).

Windows XP. Device Manager: USB device not recognized, no drivers.

How to fix driver error?

The easiest way is to use the driver disk that came with your camera. If this is not the case, you can use the website of the manufacturer of your device.

Popular sites:

http://www.canon.ru/

http://www.nikon.ru/ru_RU/

http://www.sony.ru/

By the way, you might find driver update programs useful:

Viruses, antiviruses and file managers

Relatively recently, I myself encountered an unpleasant situation: the camera sees files (photos) on the SD card, but the computer, when you insert this flash card into the card reader, does not see it, as if there is not a single picture on it. What to do?

As it turned out later, it was a virus that blocked the display of files in Explorer. But the files could be viewed through some file commander (I use Total Commander- of. website: http://wincmd.ru/)

In addition, it also happens that files on the camera’s SD card may simply be hidden (and in Windows Explorer By default, such files are not displayed). To see hidden and system files need to:

Click “configuration->settings” in the top panel;

Then select the “Panel Contents” section and check the box next to “Show hidden/system files” (see screenshot below).

Setting up total commander.

Antivirus and firewall may block connecting the camera (sometimes this happens). I recommend turning them off during testing and setup. It would also be a good idea to disable the built-in firewall in Windows.

To disable the firewall, go to: Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall, there is a shutdown function, activate it.

And the last thing...

1) Check your computer with a third-party antivirus. For example, you can use my article about online antiviruses (no need to install anything):

2) To copy photos from a camera that cannot be seen by a PC, you can remove the SD card and connect it through the laptop/computer card reader (if you have one). If not, the price is several hundred rubles, it resembles an ordinary flash drive.

That's all for today, good luck to everyone!

One of the common problems Windows users 10 - thumbnails of images (photos and pictures), as well as videos in Explorer folders are not shown, or black squares are shown instead.

This instruction contains ways to fix this problem and return the display of thumbnails (thumbnails) for preview in Windows 10 Explorer instead of file icons or those same black squares.

This method can help if, instead of thumbnails, the explorer begins to display black squares or something else that is not typical. Here you can try deleting the thumbnail cache first and having Windows 10 create it again.

To clear thumbnails, follow these steps:

After this, you can check whether the thumbnails are now displayed (they will be created again).

Additional ways to enable thumbnail display

And just in case, two more ways to enable the display of thumbnails in Explorer - using the Registry Editor and the Local Editor group policy Windows 10. Essentially, this is one method, just different implementations.

To enable thumbnails in the Registry Editor, do the following:

  1. Open the registry editor: Win+R and enter regedit
  2. Go to the section (folders on the left) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer
  3. If on the right side you see a value with the name DisableThumbnails, double-click on it and set the value to 0 (zero) to enable icon display.
  4. If there is no such value, you can create it (right click in the empty area on the right - create - DWORD32, even for x64 systems) and set its value to 0.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer

Close Registry Editor. The changes should take effect immediately after the changes, but if this does not happen, try restarting explorer.exe or restarting your computer.

Same thing using the Local Group Policy Editor (only available on Windows 10 Pro and higher):

The preview images should then show in File Explorer.

Well, if none of the described options worked or the problem with the icons differs from the one described, ask questions, I will try to help.

A common problem that occurs on a computer with Windows 7 is that photos and pictures do not open in popular jpg format and others. This may be due to several factors, which we will discuss below, having collected all available information about the problem on various forums dedicated to computer topics, and, in particular, Windows 7.

The reasons that images on a computer under the guidance of the “seven” do not open may be the following:

  • the file extension has been changed, for example, to *.exe, as a result of which the user runs a virus copied from a flash drive or located on it, instead of a graphic file;
  • a program that the user deleted is associated with the graphic files;
  • your account is not the owner of the files or photo directory, and access to it is limited.

Below we will look at ways to solve each problem in particular.

Resolution changed

There is probably no need to tell you that there are viruses that hide files on removable media, and in place of the objects located there they copy themselves with the names of hidden directories and files. When you double-click on such a photo in Win 7, it does not open, but starts malicious code, performing programmed operations.

The first thing you need to do is scan the catalog with problematic photos using a reliable antivirus program, for example, Dr.Web CureIt!.

The second step is to activate the option to display extensions for known document types. To do this, we perform several steps.

  • Go to “Arrange” in the main menu of Windows 7 Explorer and select “Folder Options”.

  • Go to the “View” tab.
  • Uncheck the box next to the “Hide extensions...” option, as shown in the screenshot.

  • We apply the changes and check photo extensions that do not open.

If everything is in order, move on to the next section.

Graphic file associations

It happens that the graphics viewer in Windows 7 is accidentally or intentionally deleted by the user, as a result of which when opening an image nothing happens or a window appears to select such an application.

  • Call “Control Panel”.
  • Call its “Default Programs” element.

  • Click on the “Set default applications” link.
  • Select one of the last utilities in the list - “Photo Viewer” and click “Select defaults...”.

If you prefer alternative applications, such as FastStone, InfanView, XnView or others, and they are installed on Windows 7, choose a third-party solution instead of the standard utility.

  • Click save and check whether graphic documents are opened by the specified utility.

We open access to photos for the active account

After reinstalling the OS, as a rule, the account with administrator rights is also renamed. And if he was the owner of any data, for example, a catalog with photos, in most cases other users do not have access to it (that’s why the files do not open), unless you use one simple trick - replacing the owner.

  • Launch “Explorer” and call “Folder Options” through the “Arrange” menu item.
  • On the “View” tab, deactivate the “Use General Wizard...” option and save the result.

  • Call “Properties” via context menu directory with problematic pictures, go to the “Security” tab.

  • Click on the “Advanced” button and go to the “Owner” tab.

  • Click “Change” and select your account.

If it is missing, go to “Other users...” → “Advanced” → “Search” and select the required account from its results.

  • Click “Apply”, checking the “Replace owner...” function, close all windows using the “Ok” buttons and answer affirmatively to any prompts or warnings that appear, if they appear.

Windows 7 developers offer another tool that allows you to resolve problems with playing slide shows and displaying pictures, even if they do not open. This is Launch FixIt. You will need it to fix the following problems:

  • it is impossible to set a picture as a screensaver;
  • The photo preview function does not turn on;
  • in thumbnails and the preview window, the colors of pictures are visualized in inverse order;
  • artifacts and interruptions when flipping through slides.

This concludes the search for problems with displaying pixel images on a computer.
