To install firmware on your Xbox that allows you to run homemade discs, you don’t have to contact specialists. You can do everything yourself. You don't need a soldering iron, you just need to disassemble the console. A screwdriver is enough for this.

Here 5 simple steps for Xbox 360 firmware

Before you grab a screwdriver and take apart your console, read these 3 important warnings.

1 warning

By modifying your console, you will lose warranty service Microsoft. The editors are also not responsible for the consequences of your actions. Using these instructions you act at your own peril and risk. If as a result of your manipulations the set-top box fails, you will have to repair it at your own expense (if this repair is possible in principle).

2 warning

The instructions are written for experienced users of Windows operating systems who are familiar, at least in general terms, with the computer hardware. That is, it is assumed that you know what SATA is and can install the program without detailed instructions with a dozen screenshots of the “NEXT” button.

Last warning

The instructions are written using the example of a drive Lite-On DG-16D2S with FW Ver 83850c V1. It is assumed that the set-top box has a standard factory firmware. For other models, the procedure may differ. For example, the firmware of some consoles requires replacing the drive board. In this case it is better go to a special workshop.

Also, replacing more old version unofficial firmware on LT+ 3.0.

If, despite all these warnings, you are still ready to flash your Xbox yourself, read these instructions.

Step #1: Determine Drive Model

Depending on the drive model, you will need a different firmware version: LT+ 3.0 or LTU 2.0.

To determine the drive model, the attachment must be disassembled. There will be a sticker on the drive housing. From all the information indicated on it, you will need a manufacturer (in our example it is Lite-On), model (the article discusses DG-16D2S) and FW Ver (in our case 83850c V1)

There is no need to remove the drive itself from the console.

Step #2: Download the required software

Now find the firmware for your drive and the latest version of the program on the Internet Jungle Flasher. Using this utility you will flash the console.

Install Jungle Flasher on your computer. If you have a RAID controller installed on VIA, be sure to uninstall the driver for this device. Otherwise, you won't be able to flash the console. Turn off your computer.

Step #3 Remove the drive key.

Connect the set-top box's DVD drive to the computer's motherboard via a SATA cable (to do this, turn off the computer and remove the cover from system unit). Also connect the video cable and power cable to the console. Turn on the set-top box and computer.

Run Jungle Flasher as an administrator. On the tab DVDkey 32, in field I/O port select the set-top box drive. The Drive Properties section should display information about this drive:

To read the key, press the button LO83info.If you receive an error message:

This means that in your case a more complex method of removing the key is required. It will not be possible to flash the firmware using the method described here.

This is the message

means that the most crucial moment in the firmware process has arrived.

Attention! The slightest mistake during further manipulations with the drive will lead to complete inoperability of the set-top box!

Open the drive tray and hold it down while pressing the close button. The drive should not close (you are holding it). Turn off the console, remove the white power plug from the drive. Disconnect the third wire from this plug. Push the tray halfway, insert the white plug back (the third wire remains disconnected) and turn on the console. The drive tray must remain motionless.

Now you can click OK in the Jungle Flasher dialog box. After this you should see the following message:

When you see this window, pull the drive tray all the way out by hand (no need to turn off the power) and press again OK.

After this, the program calculates the key. Save these files - without them you will not be able to start the console!

If you remember, the third wire in the power plug is disconnected. Now it needs to be inserted back.

Step #4 Flash Xbox 360

So, if you did everything correctly, you have a file with the key of the drive to be flashed, which you just saved, and the firmware for this drive, which you downloaded in advance. You can go directly to the firmware.

Open the FirmwareTool32 tab:

By pressing the button Open Source Firmware, select your drive key file. This file should be called Dummy.bin or Lite-OFW.bin. After this, you will see a window asking you to automatically download the firmware:

Click NO and select the already downloaded firmware by clicking the button Open Target Firmware. After that, click the button Spoof Source to Target and save the resulting firmware ( Save to File).

Now go to the tab MTKFlash32. Click here Lite-On Erase:

You will see a window asking if you are sure of the accuracy of the key you removed. If you are sure, click YES.

When this window appears:

Turn off and then turn on the set-top box immediately.

You should see an entry in the log window "Drive returned Status 0x72,", and in the section Drive Properties- inscription "Drive in Vendor Mode!". If so, click YES in the dialog box. After that, click the button Write:

When the firmware is installed on the drive, the following entry will appear in the log: “Write verified OK!”. As soon as you see it, press the button Outro/ATA Reset.

Check that the firmware is correct!

This completes the Xbox 360 firmware. Now check its functionality. Insert the disk with the game recorded on it (the game must be recorded on the disk specifically for the LT+ 3.0 firmware) and run it. If the game loads, then you installed the firmware correctly.

If you have any problems, contact our workshop— specialists will flash your Xbox 360 and provide guarantees for their work.

It is produced in our workshops. You can confidently trust the many years of experience of our specialists. Call and make an appointment!

Having never been a gamer, I still picked up the console for fun. Why Xbox and not PS3? The answer lies on the surface - the possibility of unlocking. Let's not discuss the moral side of this action, don't feed the geek bread - let him pick out a new piece of hardware.

Unlocking is not particularly difficult, but on the latest revisions of the console with drives from Lite-On ( FW Revision 93450C) you can’t do without a hardware mod to put the drive in Vendor Mode. To produce a hardware mod, you can go in several ways - The MRA Hack, The Xecuter Probe II, The Xecuter LT Switch, Vampire & Rebuild Board, Vampire w/o Rebuild Board.

The MRA Hack - simplest scheme, which you can assemble yourself without much expense. You will need a mounting knife, a pair of wires, a 20 Ohm resistor and a switch to quickly break the contact. The big disadvantage of this method is that after flashing it will be necessary to restore all the cut tracks on the printed circuit board.

I chose the most rational and cheapest option - Xecuter LT Switch. The advantage is that after soldering on top of the original board and unlocking the console, you don’t need to restore anything, just move the switch to the Normal position from the Read/Write mode. This solution cost me about 4 GBP excluding delivery in some English online store for modding.

There are still a couple of unresolved questions left. Firstly, I don’t have a monitor at home, secondly, I don’t have Windows on any of my computers, and thirdly, all my computers are portable, so there’s nowhere to connect the SATA cable. Well, I have as home server Aspire Revo is working, a couple of issues are resolved from here, we output the image via HDMI to the TV, and connect the drive to the Revo eSATA-SATA with a cord. What to do with Windows? Debian GNU/Linux runs on Revo and I somehow didn’t want to repartition the partitions by installing Windows next door. No problem! There are wonderful distribution kits just for this case from aleks200059, windows that work from a USB drive. Wonderful!

Ordered Xecuter LT Switch, XCM 360 Case opening tool And eSATA-SATA lace. Russian Post, as always, is slow, but nothing, we have nowhere to rush, the console was taken for fun, and not for games. Parcels take an unusually long time from all Asian corners, the last package arrived 61 days after the order, if my memory serves me correctly. The parcel arrived from England in a couple of weeks. It seems that for the last six months, parcels from China and Hong Kong have been deliberately slowed down, but oh well...

The console was disassembled in about 10 minutes using the XCM 360 Case opening tool, although, as it turned out, it could have been easily done without it. While taking it apart, I noted to myself how typical the console’s PC build was, it made me want to cry. Microsoft is such a Microsoft... Take an example from the same Sony, or something. The next day the drive was taken to work. It can be disassembled in a couple of minutes; you need to unscrew 4 screws on the bottom cover of the drive, disconnect 3 cables and unscrew 2 screws on the board. By sliding the latch to the right, we can remove the board and start working on it.

We cut paths and clear areas in the places indicated in the photo:

Soldering the overlay:

With help soldering station the drive was soldered quite quickly without any problems during the lunch break. After ringing the tracks, I assembled the drive with peace of mind and took it home. Yes, be careful when connecting cables, I managed to connect a wide cable with great difficulty, it fits into the connector very tightly, I was afraid of breaking it, but everything worked out. Two narrow ones connect without any problems.

Let's start unlocking

Set the switch on the Xecuter LT Switch to the Normal position and connect the drive to the SATA cable. We insert the power cord, the main thing is not to confuse the position of the power connector; when disassembling, it is best to mark with a marker in which position it is connected. Turn on the console.

Download the Jungle Flasher program latest version, launch and go to the MTK Flash 32 tab. The drive did not want to be detected, as a result it only worked in SATA mode Mode - Native IDE, not in AHCI. For those who do not know, this mode is set in the BIOS.

Turn off the power to the console. We move the switch on the Xecuter LT Switch to the R/W position, press the button in the program Intro/Device ID, on asked question we answer Yes. Turn on the power button again and move the switch on the Xecuter LT Switch to the Normal position. After this, your drive will enter Vendor Mode, and Serial flash will have the status 0x72.

Now press the button Read and save the read original firmware drive. Keep this firmware in a safe place! You will still need it if you suddenly decide to change the drive again. The read firmware will be automatically loaded into the FirmwareTool 32 tab after you press the button Yes.

The read key will be automatically spoofed from the original firmware to the modified one, in my case this iXtreme Lite Touch (LT) 1.1.

How it looks on the screen:

Press the button Write and wait for the status Write Verified OK!, this means that all 4 memory banks were successfully flashed.

Now we need to take the drive out of Vendor Mode into normal mode, to do this, press the button Outro/ATA Reset.

That's it, your drive will be reflashed. Turn off the console, disconnect the SATA cable from the PC, connect the native SATA cable from the set-top box, turn on the console and test the newly flashed drive. OK it's all over Now. We assemble the console and use it for its intended purpose. Good luck!

Hi all. Just recently we went back in time when we talked about the game console. Today we will talk about a newer toy called Xbox360 and how to hack it.

If you're tired of spending a lot of money on games for your Xbox360, then it's time to think about hacking the console. On this moment There are three ways to bypass the protection of the Xbox360 game console. Each of them allows you to run games from blanks or completely abandon them. Let's take a closer look at all the pros and cons of each method.

Drive firmware

The cheapest hacking method, the average cost of which is 1500-2000 thousand rubles. The technicians take this money for hacking the drive, because... It will not be possible to reflash a completely new drive. First, you will have to hack its security, which will allow you to replace the original firmware with a pirated one. After this procedure, you will only need to update the firmware from time to time. The average cost of this service is 500 rubles. You will need to update the firmware no more than once a year. Having a flashed drive, you can play online on Xbox Live, but only until you are banned. When this will happen, no one knows. Some manage to avoid a ban for several years, but most fly into it in the first month.

X360Key

This hacking method appeared relatively recently. Does not require soldering. It consists of connecting to the console’s motherboard via Sata interface special fee. A remote control with a display is connected to the board itself. To run games, use external media: flash drive, external HDD, connected via USB port to the remote control. Price X360KEY is 3500 rubles.

Installing the device is extremely simple. The developers assure that with their device you don’t have to worry about being banned from Xbox Live, you just need to update the device’s firmware in a timely manner. Despite this plus, X360KEY cannot be recognized the best method hacking Absence additional features in addition to running pirated games, as well as the need to use external media, make this method not relevant at its price. FreeBoot is another matter.

Freeboot

Perhaps the best of all XBox360 hacks. Allows you to run games directly from . No ? No problem! With Freeboot it is possible to download any games, from any region, to the console’s hard drive using a Lan cable, or without it, via Wi-Fi. Thanks to emulators, it becomes possible to play Sega, Dendy and early Xbox games. Where do such opportunities come from? For installation FreeBoot , on motherboard The console has a special chip soldered into it that controls the power supply of the processor. This allows you to download a pirated version operating system consoles (DashBoard). The pirate dashboard contains a bunch of useful gadgets, for example: the ability to control fan speed, an FTP client for connecting the set-top box to a PC, as well as various temperature sensors displayed on the main panel...

Of the minuses this method There are only two hacks that can be noted: an instant ban on Xbox Live and an increase in the console startup time by up to 30 seconds. The FreeBoot installation itself is quite complicated. In addition to the chip soldered into the console board, it is necessary to install and correctly configure the accompanying software. In this connection, the cost of work ranges from 2500 to 3500 thousand rubles.

Choosing the most suitable way hacking the console, the next thing you need to decide is how you will hack. You can do everything yourself, or contact a specialist. Currently, there is a whole bunch of detailed information on the Internet. step by step instructions for each hacking method. But, nevertheless, we advise you to contact a specialist, because... in case of installing FreeBoot, soldering will be required, and when flashing the drive firmware, you will need to drill the drive chip. If an error occurs, you can kill the drive, or, even worse, the console. But if you like to take risks, then go for it! However, you can install X360Key yourself. All you need to do is plug a couple of wires into the motherboard of the console. Agree, paying 500 rubles for such primitive work is not reasonable.

If you do not want to take responsibility for the work, then you have a direct path to the master. You can contact either a private specialist or a service center. In both cases you need to be careful and attentive. Best choice will contact the service center, where they will issue you a safe receipt for your set-top box. And if your console is damaged during operation, the company will be legally responsible for it. When contacting the service center, read the contract carefully. Check that it states the responsibility that the company bears if something happens to your console. Make sure these conditions satisfy you. Don’t forget about the security receipt; it should have the company’s seal on it. Very often, service centers provide a guarantee for their work, which is a good plus. Look for reviews on the Internet about the workshop you are interested in. Try to make your choice responsibly, otherwise the cost of a mistake may be your set-top box.

In large cities, finding a good service center is not a problem. But what if you live in a provincial town, where there are only one or two workshops? The only way out is to turn to private traders.

Private ownership is not bad. Many craftsmen who have been working for several years value their reputation. Their work sometimes costs less than in service center. A good master will replace a part that has failed in his vein, or will pay for the purchase of a new one. Some craftsmen, as well as service workshops, provide a guarantee for their work. But here everything depends on the conscientiousness of the performer, because Naturally, you will not receive any documents obliging the master to serve you after receiving payment.

If you want to play pirated games on your Xbox 360, you'll need to flash your device to install special software that will allow you to play unlicensed games. The method for flashing your Xbox 360 depends on the model of your DVD device. We will tell you how to properly flash your DVD drive in Xbox 360.

Steps

Part 1

How to remove a DVD drive from an Xbox

Update your Xbox. Before you disassemble the device and start flashing the firmware, you need to make sure that the Xbox 360 is updated to the latest version. This is necessary to ensure that the device we will use for flashing is compatible with your Xbox.

    • Look at the firmware instructions to learn more. Instructions can be found on the Internet, in particular on the wiki-how website.
  1. Open your Xbox 360 device. To flash a DVD drive, you need to remove it from the console case. To do this, you need to remove the front panel of the Xbox.

    • To learn how to open your Xbox device, find instructions online or on wiki-how.
  2. Remove the DVD drive. Gently grasp the DVD drive with your hands and pull it towards you, removing it from the case. Make sure all cables are disconnected.

Disconnect the DVD drive. Once you remove it, unplug the two power cables that connect it to the Xbox. You can now remove the device completely from the Xbox case.

Determine the manufacturer of the DVD drive. There are 4 variations of DVD drive manufacturers used in the Xbox 360. Some DVD drives require more attention than others because they are more difficult to open and remove. Look at the sticker that is located on the surface of the drive. It must indicate the name of the manufacturer.

    • It could be either Lite-On, Samsung, BenQ, or Hitachi.

    Part 2

    Download JungleFlasher.
    1. You will need a program to flash the device. You can download the program from the Internet. We recommend using a program called JungleFlasher, it is made specifically for flashing the Xbox 360 device. You can download it for free from the developer's website.

      • You will also need some programs to help you with the files on your disk. Download the iXtreme LT+ 3.0 program from the iXtreme website. JungleFlasher does not include this program for legal reasons. This program modifies the operation of the DVD drive on your Xbox 360, allowing you to install custom software on it.
      • If you are going to flash a DVD drive from Hitachi, you will need to download a special version of the iXtreme LT+ 3.0 Hitachi program.
    2. Extract the files from the JungleFlasher folder to your computer. After you download the program file, extract the files from the archive so you can access them on your computer. You don't need to install JungleFlasher to use the program. It is enough to unzip the files from the folder to any folder on your computer to have access to them.

Copy the files to the JungleFlasher directory. After you extract the files from the JungleFlasher archive, extract the files from the iXtreme LT+ 3.0 archive into the same folder. Open the folder called Firmware. Copy all files to the Firmware folder in the JungleFlasher directory.

Copy necessary dlls files. Open the JungleFlasher directory and open the libusb folder. Copy the libusb0.dll file from this folder and paste it into your JungleFlasher root directory. That is, in the same place where the JungleFlasher.exe file is located

      • Open the PortIO folder and copy both files to the JungleFlasher root directory.
