The idea to change the font on Xiaomi from the owners Chinese devices arises in various situations: often the whole point lies in a banal desire to update appearance your smartphone, however, there are often cases when a real need leads to the desire to change the font, for example, in case of poor vision or other situations when it is required that the text displayed on the screen become larger or, which is also not uncommon, smaller.

It is worth noting that changing text attributes occurs in absolutely all applications on the device: contacts, settings, browser and other applications.

Font settings

Standard list available sizes characters on Xiaomi smartphones are in three positions: small, medium and large, respectively (small, medium and large sizes). The latest device models, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4x and others, carry up to 5 different sizes.

Besides base change sizes, modification available various characteristics text: not only styles, but even font colors are available for customization.

Most in a simple way“playing around” with the character parameters is a sequence of actions in the following order: “Settings-Display-Advanced-Fonts” or “Settings-Advanced-Font”, depending on the MIUI firmware version.

The standard parameters that can be changed are:

  • Possibility to increase the font;
  • Changing the style of displayed text itself.

It is worth noting that the adopted innovations will affect the text that appears in the notification panel, in system menus, on desktops, as well as in the dialing menu. The desire to change letters (make them white, small, etc.) in third-party applications depends entirely on the capabilities of the applications themselves.

Standard way to change font

In the process of changing text settings, there are cases when it is impossible to change the font due to the banal absence of such a menu.

The essence of the problem lies in the firmware and the activities of the developer, aimed at limiting the functionality of the menu to protect the smartphone from the user himself. The solution to the problem is to enter the “Designer Status” category, on the basis of which the smartphone owner receives an expanded range of settings, including the ability to change the font.

Obtaining designer status occurs through a Mi Account and subsequent registration on the official website.

Let's look at the main ways you can change Xiaomi font Redmi and other smartphones from famous Chinese brands:

  1. Described earlier: “Settings-Advanced”, then select the “Select font” category. Available styles include those located “by default” and those that the user can upload to the “MIUI/theme” directory;
  2. More direct: by opening the “Themes” program, where you should select the 4th menu item on the left (red circle with a hieroglyph), then “Resources”, then “Font”. It is worth noting that in the case of a manual download, you should pay attention to the type of file extension: prerequisite is the TTF format of the downloaded file;
  3. Path to the already familiar “Themes” section, then “Local” and, finally, “Import”. The last step for the user is to select the “Components” category, where to go to the “Font” section.

other methods

You can also set the style you like using third party applications. So, having found, for example, fonts for MIUI 8, the user has the opportunity to add them to the collection of standard ones. To do this, the downloaded fonts should be placed in the device directory and then download the Mi Font Maker program. The program allows you to find through the built-in explorer required file and then add it to the system ones.

It is worth noting that the downloaded file must have one of two formats: ttf or mtz, and also be presented in Cyrillic: that is, have both English and Russian characters.

In addition to third-party methods to bypass settings protection, there is also an official method for displaying text settings. In order to solve the problem of how to change the font to Xiaomi Redmi 3S or other models, please follow these steps:

  • Download the QuickShortcutMaker application;

  • Having opened the program, go to the “Settings” item, where you need to select the “Font” subcategory;

  • Next, you should open the application, select and download the option you like, then open the “Themes” software and go to “Offline” mode;
  • After that, click the “Import” button, specify the path to the file and upload it to the collection of existing ones.

Previously, such a function was not available in all firmware, and to install a new font you needed to have a designer account.

Now everything is much simpler and everyone can install the font they like. Each should be understood as the owners Xiaomi smartphones With installed firmware MIUI 8.0 and higher.

The Mi Font Maker application was developed especially for them, which allows you not only to connect any fonts to the system, but also to create installation packages in mtz format.

The program does not require administrator rights (root) or a designer account.

How to change the font on Xiaomi?

The first step is to find and download the font you like to your smartphone. There are countless of them on the Internet. It is worth noting that for correct display you will need a Cyrillic font, which in its set has not only English, but also Russian letters.

After the fonts for Xiaomi are downloaded, install the Mi Font Maker program and launch it.

In the program menu that opens, click on the “Install custom font” button, and in the next window – “Pick font file”.

In the context window that appears, select the “Explorer” application and use it to look for the downloaded font file, then select it and press the “OK” button. The font must be in ttf or mtz formats.

The system will inform you that a system reboot will be required to apply the changes. We agree and reboot the smartphone.

Font Product Sans debuted in firmware Android 8 Oreo. The font is simple and beautiful, the text is easy to read at any scale. We really appreciated the shape of this font, as it is the one used in the Google logo. For example, remember the ubiquitous “G” trademark. Yes, yes, it's all Product Sans.

Installing the Product Sans font in MIUI

Until recently, only users of Google smartphones could use this font. But even if you have such a smartphone, Product Sans is not used in all user interfaces Android Oreo. For example, on the Pixel 2 this font can only be found on the lock screen, settings, and the watch app.

Fortunately, modders have found a way to use the font on almost any firmware. They extracted Product Sans from Android 8.1 Developer Preview and made it usable in ROMs such as:

Stock firmware from manufacturers
custom firmware: based on AOSP. For example LineageOS
MIUI firmware: MIUI Pro, Mi-Globe, Epic ROM, Xiaomi.EU
official MIUI: global, beta versions of MIUI 8/9

If you are a MIUI user, then you are in luck. By following our instructions, you will finally be able to update your device's UI with the Product Sans font.

First method: installation using TWRP

The installation process is much easier if you already have TWRP on your smartphone.

1. Download the zip archive and place it in the smartphone’s memory, preferably in the root folder.
2. Reboot your smartphone into TWRP
3. Follow the following path: Backup -> System -> Install

  1. Find and select the downloaded archive
    5. After installation, simply restart your smartphone

    If you are not satisfied with the font, you can always return to the default font settings.

To do this, simply click “Restore system” in TWRP.

Method two: installation without TWRP

If you don’t want to do scary things with your smartphone that you’re not very good at, then that’s okay, the font can be installed in this case too.

  1. Download this .mtz file and place it in internal memory smartphone
  2. Open the MIUI Theme Editor app (you can download it from Google Play)
    3. In the application, click Themes -> Import
    4. Select the downloaded .mtz file
  3. Once all the previous steps are completed, the program will add Product Sans to the font list. So you can select it and reboot your phone for the changes to take effect.

    After that, take a couple of minutes and check how the font displays in different applications. If you don't like something, then return to MIUI Theme Editor and re-set the system font settings. Don't forget to reboot.

    P.S. There is a bug where MIUI can make Product Sans bold or italic, or vice versa, not display such a font when necessary. In this case, you have no choice but to install the font via TWRP (the first method of our instructions)

P.P.S. If you have various ad blockers installed, temporarily disable them when using MIUI Theme Editor, otherwise the program will curse and close.

Have you installed this font for yourself? Do you have any problems? Tell us about it in the comments :)

Until recently, I didn’t think at all about how to change the font on my Xiaomi, but when I accidentally looked into my mother’s phone, I realized what I was missing. The huge digits of the number she dials from the old fashioned way notebook, can be read without glasses. It seemed attractive and convenient to me, so I decided to set up a faithful assistant.

Wandering through the vast expanses of the Internet, I endlessly came across instructions that, upon closer examination, raised a large number of questions. The whole point is that when you leave new version MIUI settings are changing, some dramatically. In other words, what was relevant a couple of years ago is completely unsuitable for the current version of MIUI 9. In addition, it is a mistake to mention the phone brand in this regard; you only need to focus on the current version of the firmware.

The branded shell offers a very real and affordable way change the font. On my already outdated Xiaomi Redmi 4, which was updated not so long ago to global firmware 9.5.3.0, this method is valid, we will consider it fully working at the moment.

So what do we have? There is only one font on your smartphone, it is installed by default. We will not be able to modify or change its style, so all subsequent actions will be related to its replacement. To select a new font type, follow simple criteria.

Firstly, it must be based on the Cyrillic alphabet and have both Russian and English letters in its set.

Secondly, when downloading, you need to pay attention to its format - mtz. Thus, the installation package is designated with which the applications that form the final picture of the transition will work.

If we go standard, all this can be neglected. The smartphone itself will determine and install what you need, you just need to choose the design you like.

Go to Topics and write “moby” in the search.

Select - View all, several dozen fonts will appear in front of you.

Download the style you like and install it on your phone.

To apply the font, the device will reboot, and when finished, enjoy the resulting views.

The procedure can be repeated several times. I’ll explain why a little later.

I should note that by using the resources of the smartphone when changing the font, we thereby enter it into system files and subsequently it can be easily changed to another option. If you simply download the installation package, the device may not see it and, accordingly, may not use it.

Many questions arise from users who are dissatisfied with the results obtained about returning to the previous state. Returning the standard font will also not be difficult.

It is possible to return to the font from the manufacturer when changing the theme. You use another theme and it’s yours, it’s the default.

It would seem that it could be simpler, but we are not looking for easy solutions. Another method is based on installing the Quick Shortcut Maker application, which can be found in the Play Store.

After you have downloaded and installed it, the necessary steps are:

I repeat, here there will be fonts only from the “Themes” utility. And only them you can control. This is about the question of where and what to look for.

As an alternative, I propose another method; it will be suitable for those who, for some reason, could not understand the proposed program. I read such angry messages that I wanted to hide in a distant place so that the “deceived” users would miss you.

This method is very close in meaning to the one described, but much simpler. Go to advanced settings and change the region from Russia to India. Don't worry, don't edit anything on your phone for a couple of minutes. Then go to the “Themes” tab and click on the circle at the very bottom with a funny face. A menu will appear in front of you, in which there is a “Fonts” item. Change them to your health without installing any additional settings icon. All your previously downloaded and installed fonts are here, including by default.

Then change the region to Russia.

Changing the font size

The simplest thing you can do if you are planning to change at least something on your phone.

Go to “Settings” - “Display” and select the text size.

There will be six options for displaying inscriptions on the screen from very small to giant sizes. The abbreviation is like in a clothing store, from XS to XXL. By moving the slider from left to right, we increase the size; the letters will demonstrate their real growth. You can move the view to the screen itself (here) and admire the resulting effect.

I immediately decided to make the letters bigger and moved the slider to the right, but then went back to the regular small S. Habit is second nature. It's like something is missing.

Please do not look for settings in other places and complain about their absence. The Chinese do not sit idly by and are always changing something.

We get the status of a designer

Changing the font on Xiaomi phones today is not difficult. There were some troubles, mainly related to the global version of the firmware, but they are a thing of the past. A couple of years ago it seemed quite crude and the design process new topic or font according to the already described scenario stopped with an error.

“Gurus” immediately appeared, claiming that changing the font is only possible if you have the proud title of designer at your disposal. Neither then, nor even more so now, this is true. The presence of this status simplifies the change procedure, but that’s all.

Let's look a little at this issue; besides, even now it has not lost some relevance.

First, we will get permission from the Chinese. Let's go by
