LG has taken the right course in conquering the smartphone market, after the next new product that came to me, I was convinced of this. Two latest smartphone LG, which we reviewed, turned out to be so good that we had to come up with a badge system to reward the best. The first owner of the coolest badge was Optimus G. But one or two successful models is not an indicator, especially since these are two almost identical smartphones, from the same class - top-end. But today we have middle class and it is also good - Optimus L7 II Dual. Yes, naming fail, nothing can be done.

It was good, and sales seemed to be going well too. Be that as it may, I have repeatedly met people with this model. However, I don’t think that the success of the smartphone was ensured by the L-Style design, which LG praised. In the new L7 there is not a hint left of the previous forms; it is an ordinary smartphone, I would even say inexpressive. But, oddly enough, it is more pleasant. At least it is very well assembled, there are no creaks or backlashes. This is very important; for example, I immediately form a negative opinion about a smartphone if it’s flimsy out of the box. This is exactly what the first L7 sinned with; here and there I wanted to take it differently, so as not to feel the “shaking and creaking of the lid completely.”

The LG Optimus L7 II is also made of plastic and also has a removable battery cover, but the body feels well built. It was thanks to the assembly, from the first minutes of meeting, that I liked the second generation L7 much more than its predecessor.

We are testing a model with two SIM card slots – Optimus L7 II Dual. Unlike the first generation L7, now the dual-SIM model appeared on the market even earlier than the single-SIM one. We didn't have the latter, but judging by the photos, they look very different in appearance. In L7 II without the Dual prefix, the design still resembles the familiar L-Style. It has a different shape, and there are three keys under the display, one mechanical. In the dual-SIM model, the body is different, and there are four keys under the display, all of which are touch sensitive. One of them is responsible for changing SIM cards.

In addition to all the standard elements, which I will not list, I noticed one extra button on the left side of the smartphone.

This key brings up the QuickMemo application. After pressing this key you will receive a screenshot of the screen you are on this moment. You can immediately make a note on it and share the result in one of social networks, or send by email. I considered this feature not significant enough to put it on a separate key, especially since LG had done this before: Optimus 3D had a separate 3D key, Optimus Black In general, there was a G button. But I thought so until a person from the outside said how convenient it was and that he wanted the same thing in his Samsung.

Display

The diagonal of the IPS display is 4.3 inches, as in the L7, and the resolution remains unchanged - 480x800 pixels. Pixel density – 217 ppi. I can’t call the picture too grainy; for a mid-segment smartphone, the picture looks good, but nothing more. For example, at a slight tilt, the colors on the display are distorted, and at a tilt of 160 degrees, the picture becomes completely unreadable. It seems that the smartphone has an IPS display, but it seems that someone simply made a mistake in the characteristics; somehow it doesn’t look IP-worthy. Protective glass or plastic collects fingerprints well, the screen gets dirty almost immediately, and you will have to wipe it regularly. The small indentations from the display (the frame) had a very positive effect; at first I thought that the L7 II had incorrect aspect ratios, only then I realized that it was the frame that left such a visual effect.

Cameras

There are two cameras and that's already good. The front one, however, is VGA, but let it be for video calls. Perhaps someone will use the second SIM card slot just for 3G to communicate via Skype. And the main camera has an 8 MP sensor and records video at 720p. There is a flash and autofocus. Photos come out quite good, autofocus is adequate and determines what to focus on quickly.

Specifications

The smartphone operates on a dual-core Snapdragon processor Qualcomm MSM8225, clocked at 1 GHz, Cortex A5. This is in every way better than MSM 7227a. In synthetic tests, the smartphone shows average results, but we didn’t count on records. Graphics accelerator Adreno 203. With this hardware, the main functions of the smartphone are performed normally (not reactive), but with games like Dead Trigger you will have to endure or not play at all. The smartphone thinks about it here and there, even responds to the control keys after a few seconds. In a word, it is not a gaming smartphone. However, you can miss a couple of birds between calls.

768 MB of RAM is enough, considering that you won’t be playing on the L7 II. You can count on full multitasking if you work mainly with Evernote, mail, Twitter and similar applications. But, if you open 5-8 tabs in the browser, applications in the background close. 4 GB of built-in memory is again sufficient, given the ability to expand it using a memory card. This is all good, nothing can be called a compromise, but the main advantage of the smartphone and its advantage over the first “seven” is the battery. From 1700 mAh the capacity has increased to a fantastic 2460 mAh. A year and a half ago we looked at such a battery in Galaxy Note and couldn’t believe our eyes, but here the display is smaller, and in general the device is less demanding. This is a serious bid for leadership in the class, even I will give preference to autonomy over much else, and those who need constant communication on two SIM cards will definitely appreciate the autonomy. We can safely say that the whole day is very active work with a smartphone, with Twitter, mail, calls and birds.

Software, management of two SIM cards

The proprietary LG Optimus UI 3.0 shell is installed on top of Android 4.1.2. In principle, I didn’t see any big differences from that in its predecessor, but on the first L7 the interface was much smoother; in the new product it’s not that it slows down, it’s just that the fps is noticeably lower. Perhaps this is due to some visual effects, for example, when you move from one table to another, the distance between the icons increases, creating an elastic effect. But the processor in the L7 II is also more productive; in general, the situation with the interface is not clear to me. On the other hand, we had a first-generation L7 that was sold, we took it out of the display case and it worked well. This same sample is not commercial and the firmware, as company representatives told us, may be crude. I don't think so, but still. Maybe I'm too spoiled by Optimus G?

Optimus L7 II Dual has one radio module. This means that during an active call from one SIM card, the second will be unavailable. In other cases, both cards are active. The shell, of course, supports two SIM cards. There is a SIM card management item in the menu, where you can assign an icon and color to each, change the name and select the card from which messages will be sent and outgoing calls made. But you can always select another card if you press the right soft key before making a call/sending SMS. On the one hand, this is more convenient than separate menus in the system, but since the key is touch-sensitive, you can accidentally touch it and call from the wrong number.

Conclusion

This smartphone has every chance of becoming a new hit. There are all the ingredients for this: good design, good assembly, sufficient performance for routine tasks, and expandable inner memory and, most importantly, excellent autonomy. For this, a smartphone can be forgiven a lot, but, in essence, everything is fine. Optimus L7 II Dual is clearly not for gamers or geeks. This is a finished product out of the box, with which there is no need to tinker, and the device won’t let you play demanding games anyway – that’s not what it’s for. The buyer must clearly understand what he wants, and in this case, those who need a reliable two-symbol long-liver will be satisfied.

A couple of years ago, after a slight one-year stagnation, LG updated the L-series of its gadgets, presenting it at an international exhibition interesting model second generation - LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715. The characteristics of the smartphone have undergone some changes compared to the previous L7 line. And although this model is far from the capabilities of the brand’s flagship, the device has something to please its owner.

The hero of today's review is the II Dual P715 smartphone: characteristics, reviews, advantages and disadvantages of the model, as well as expert opinions regarding the successor to the previously popular L7.

Briefly about the model

First of all, the company has radically changed the design of the gadget: instead of a rectangular candy bar, the device has acquired a more streamlined shape. It is impossible to say that this is good or bad, because this moment remains for the judgment of each individual owner. Nevertheless, the design of the model can be called at least nice.

In addition to the appearance of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715, the characteristics of the chipset have also been changed: instead of the very mediocre Qualcomm MSM7227, the new gadget has acquired a rather fast MSM8625. And although this chipset runs on two processors, you can play heavy games (at medium settings) without any problems. RAM has also been increased, and now there are 768 MB on board instead of 512.

In addition, both cameras and the operating system have been updated, but the most interesting innovation in the LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715 (Black) is the battery performance, which has increased to 2460 mAh. This is a very good bonus for a potential buyer.

Contents of delivery

The model is available in three colors: white and LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715 Black/Blue. Reviews about the blue and black colors are quite mixed: some people like strict tones, while others prefer something “more fun”, so it is impossible to clearly evaluate this point. The design of the device in white can be called universal.

In the box you will see:

  • the device itself;
  • battery;
  • mains charger;
  • USB cable for recharging and synchronization with a computer;
  • Quite a detailed manual in Russian.

Unfortunately, there are no additional accessories. The headset, case and other accessories will have to be purchased separately. But maybe it's for the best, because any additional item in the box would significantly increase the price of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715.

Photos and reviews about the design of the model

A rather interesting and bold decision is to use a distinctive design for almost the same model. The phone with one SIM card has sharp corners and its entire appearance resembles the previous generation of LG gadgets. The device for two SIM cards has sloping edges and is very similar to the old Optimus Black, Sol and One.

Judging by the reviews, many owners consider the semi-gloss rear panel to be a rather strange innovation. The first generation of “Optimus” P705 was equipped with a relief cover that was pleasant in many respects, as well as a metal insert (camera frame). Why the company abandoned these features in new models is not entirely clear - everything here is somehow simple and primitive.

The screen of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715 (photo in the article) is relatively easily soiled, so it will collect fingerprints everywhere and always. It’s disappointing that the company did not equip the P715 with Gorilla protective glass, but nevertheless, the existing durable plastic is able to protect the gadget from minor scratches.

Assembly

As for the build quality of the model, the LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715 has “five plus” body characteristics. The device is really well built: no backlash, creaks, crunches or other flaws. Numerous positive reviews on specialized forums about the build quality confirm this fact.

The gadget fits well in the palm of your hand, and thanks to its optimal dimensions (122 x 66 x 9.7 mm) and relatively low weight (115 g), you can operate your smartphone with one hand without any problems.

Interfaces

The LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715 smartphone is a classic representative of the series, where the layout of the interfaces has not changed at all. On the front of the device we will see: a front camera, a distance sensor, as well as a speech speaker under a nice metal mesh. By the way, the performance of the speaker is at a quite decent level: a good volume reserve, a pleasant timbre, and the person at the other end can be heard clearly, intelligibly and without any blurring. You can compare the characteristics of the model with the quality of the Galaxy S-Duos from Samsung and the same Opitmus L7 of the first generation.

As for the sensors and their operation, there are no complaints about the model - everything blinks, lights up and winks as it should on the LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715. Reviews from owners sometimes note some inhibition of the display in the winter season, but almost everyone suffers from this budget models, so this nuance cannot be called critical.

If in a device with one SIM card you can see a mechanical “Home” key, then in the P715 it is replaced with a touch one. Below the screen there are four functional touch buttons: working with SIM cards, “Menu”, “Home” and “Back”. The keys are painted silver on the display and are completely devoid of backlighting, which is very disappointing. Reviews from owners are literally full of phrases of indignation about this: during the day no problems arise, but in the evening and at night you have to poke your fingers at random. This is a serious omission for a seemingly successful model.

At the bottom there is a microphone and a micro-USB output, and at the top there is another microphone with noise reduction and standard interface for headsets and 3.5 mm headphones. The company's engineers included in the design a mechanical button on the left side of the gadget to launch applications indicated in the menu, such as a voice recorder, camera, game or playlist. A little lower there is a volume rocker and there is also a button to turn the device on/off.

On top of the back of the gadget there is a camera and a flash eye slightly recessed into the body. At the bottom there is a speaker. In order to open the cover, you need to pry the back panel at the location of the micro-USB output. There we will see a place for a memory card and slots for regular mini-SIM cards (the “on top of each other” principle).

Display

The 4.3-inch LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715 smartphone has a very mediocre and outdated screen resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. Experts believe that this “infringement” was specifically introduced into the series so as not to create competition for the much more promising LG Optimus L9 model.

The display is built on a fairly high-quality IPS matrix, and the screen produces a pretty good picture for the budget LG Optimus L7 II Dual P715. The viewing angles, of course, are not good enough, and at large angles the image fades, is inverted, and color rendition deteriorates significantly. Nevertheless, you can look through photos or watch videos in the company of one like-minded person without any problems.

In principle, it is possible to work with the gadget on a sunny day: although the picture fades, the information as a whole is more or less readable. The behavior of the matrix in the shadows is very good: the screen does not dazzle, and pixelation is not noticeable (if you don’t look closely).

The display seems to be good, but in this segment and for the same price (and the smartphone costs about 6,000 rubles) you can find a better competitor with acceptable sharpness, resolution and color rendition.

Sensor

The touch unit of the model is capacitive and is capable of supporting up to ten simultaneous touches. Screen sensitivity is generally good. Both owners and experts in this field do not have any critical complaints about the characteristics of the sensor.

The smartphone is equipped with “smart screen” technology, which is not clear who got it from whom - either Samsung from LG, or vice versa. The principle of operation of this technology is quite simple: while you are looking at the device, it is turned on and does not “go into” sleep mode, but as soon as you turn away, after a certain period of time it will go out. "Smart screen" works in tandem with front camera, that is, it determines the position of your eyes and draws appropriate “conclusions”.

Performance

The gadget runs on the Qualcomm S4 “Play” MSM8625 chipset on two cores with a frequency of 1 GHz. The graphics part is handled by a fairly good Adreno graphics accelerator from the 203 series.

This tandem allows you to comfortably work with the interface and medium-heavy applications. As for HD video, powerful software and demanding games, the device has difficulty “digesting” them: freezes, stutters and drops in FPS.

As mentioned above, the previous generation was equipped with 512 MB of RAM. The new gadget has a little more on board - 768 MB. If you actively use the operating system, the user is left with about 250-300 MB of free RAM. Not a lot, but the interface is quite enough to perform most ordinary tasks and ensure stable operation.

The device has its own 4 GB of flash memory, where only 1.8 GB is available to the user, the rest is reserved for system files. In this case, a third-party memory card (maximum capacity - 32 GB) helps out.

Camera

The device is equipped with two standard camera modules: a front 0.3 MP and a main 8 MP. There is also a small single-section flash for the main module. The maximum image size is 3264 by 2448 pixels, video resolution is 720 x 480.

The indicators are more than weak. Almost any “Chinese” in this segment can work with HD resolution, and at a lower cost.

The output photo quality is average, although autofocus performance and white balance can be identified as clear advantages over competitors. The main drawback of the camera is the wrong choice of exposure: photographs are sometimes taken with dark areas or overexposure. It's also worth noting that manual focus adjusts exposure too aggressively.

Autonomous operation

The device is equipped with a 2460 mAh lithium-ion battery (output characteristics - 3.8 V / 9.3 W). Even if you look at the increased capacity compared to the previous generation, the gadget does not last long battery life.

The manufacturer promises the owner up to 800 hours of standby time (why are they needed?) and up to 12 hours of GSM calls.

In principle, in practice this is how it works:

  • Conversations - 9 hours.
  • Music and radio - 35 hours.
  • Video ( maximum settings, headphones) - 4 hours.
  • Games (ordinary and not “heavy”) - 5 hours.
  • Internet (Wi-Fi, 40% screen brightness) - 10 hours.
  • Internet (3G module, 40% faucet brightness) - 8 hours.

From which comes bundled with a smartphone, accumulator battery charges in a little less than four hours, and from a USB cable ( Personal Computer, laptop) a little more than five hours.

Summarizing

As for the main component of the phone - the connection quality, it is good here, and no worse than competing models in this segment, and the vibration alert is felt even in the pocket of winter clothes.

In general, a smartphone leaves some conflicting feelings. And the point here is not that it is somehow wrong or that it works extremely poorly. Just looking at the previous generation of Optimus, we see, or rather, practically do not see any changes. The camera has the same photo and video quality, low screen resolution, shell and software, and even the diagonal has not increased.

The only thing that is at least somehow noticeable in the new model is the smooth operation of the interface and support for some “heavy” applications due to the updated hardware. The battery life also seems to have increased, but not so much that “ah!”

We can recommend the smartphone to ardent fans of the brand and to all those who often and closely work with two SIM cards. Otherwise, it’s better to take a closer look at some Xiaomi, Huawei or the same Samsung, since the segment is simply bursting with a variety of models and characteristics.

LG became one of the first Android smartphone manufacturers to join the race to win its piece of the pie in the dual-SIM device segment. The first attempts were timid, but the experience of releasing phones with support for two SIM cards did its job. At that time (end of 2011), the interface and ease of working with two cards were the most successful among analogues, of which there were not so many. From the very beginning, LG began to adhere to one principle - to offer the user two identical devices (the only difference is the availability additional key for working with SIM) - one is normal, the second is exactly the same in design, functionality and capabilities, with the exception of support for a second SIM and, accordingly, an interface for working with them. Today we bring to your attention the senior model of the updated line stylish smartphones L-Style – LG Optimus L7 II Dual. As you might have already guessed, the smartphone is capable of working with two SIM cards and is the successor to the popular LG Optimus L7 model.

Design and ergonomics

Appearance LG Optimus L7 II Dual is his calling card. The smartphone looks compact, with thin frame around the screen, not only on the sides of it, but also above and below it. Rounded corners further enhance this effect. In fact, this is a visual deception. Comparison with showed that the only difference in dimensions between the devices is the slightly greater height of the earlier model.

In numbers it looks like this:

LG Optimus L7 II Dual – 122.2 x 66.6 x 9.7 mm, 115 g
LG Optimus L7 II – 121.5 x 66.6 x 9.7 mm
LG Optimus L7 – 125.5 x 67 x 8.7 mm

And so in the photographs

Comparison of dimensions with other DualSIM smartphones with a 4.3-inch display

Model/Parameters Dimensions, mm Weight, g
LG Optimus L7 II Dual 122 x 67 x 9.7 115
130 x 68 x 10.7 131
129 x 66 x 9.9 145
128 x 68 x 10 136

In any case, the dimensions do not in any way affect the cute appearance of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual when viewed from the front. Once you look at the back of it, the impressions disappear. It's funny, but made from the same type of alloy, the L7 and L7 II are defined as devices from two different price segments. The first model looks more expensive and stylish due to longitudinal lines with a pigtail pattern, in harmony with the straight lines of the body. The Optimus L7 II doesn't have this. The corners of the case are rounded, and the pattern on the removable lid looks like a honeycomb, which does not add any attractiveness to the design. In both models back panel slippery.

But the difference of 1 mm in thickness made it possible to place a battery with a capacity of 2460 mAh in the Optimus L7 II Dual, which is approximately 45% more than in its predecessor! Apparently, it’s not for nothing that Ken Hong (Director of Communications at LG Electronics) said in an interview that no one sees the difference between a phone with a thickness of 8 and 9 millimeters, which is confirmed in practice, using the example of L7 and L7 II, which have a difference the thickness is this very millimeter.

Considering the use of a display of the same diagonal, it was possible to gain an additional 4 mm in height in the Optimus L7 II by eliminating the silver insert surrounding the side of the case, which is present in the Optimus L7. If you do not take into account this frame, the height of the smartphones will match up to a millimeter, so there is no magic here.

On the front side of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual there is a VGA camera lens to the left of the speaker grid and a proximity sensor to the right of it. Between the grid and the display is the manufacturer's logo. Below the display, from left to right, there are four touch keys - “Back”, “Home”, “Menu” and “Change SIM priority”. In our copy, the keys are not backlit, so in the dark you have to use them at random. The location of the key for changing the priority of SIM cards under the display is not best idea. While using a smartphone, there were cases when we, without noticing it, changed the priority of operators, thereby making calls and sending text messages with the “wrong” SIM. Considering how easy it was for the manufacturer to add a separate hardware “Quick Button” key, we don’t understand why not provide the same one for changing the SIM priority. This would eliminate accidental operations and allow the interface control keys to be placed more thoughtfully. At least, as it was done in the LG Optimus L7, with one mechanical button in the center and two touch keys on either side of it.

Like the LG Optimus L7, the front part of the body is covered with plastic. Considering this, as well as the absence of an oleophobic coating, you will have to wipe off fingerprints often, and this is not easy to do even with the help of a special cloth like microfiber. The maximum brightness of the display backlight can barely cope with daylight even at this time of year; it’s scary to imagine what will happen on a bright sunny day.

The sides of the case are framed with plastic that protrudes slightly above the front panel and matches the color of the case. The center of the case, when viewed from the side, is divided by a silver metallic insert. It contains all the mechanical keys and connectors present in the smartphone. On the left side, attention is drawn to the programmable “ Shortcut Key"at the top end and the volume control key is slightly lower. On the right side there is a power-lock key. The sound and power keys are at the same level above the body, while the programmable key barely protrudes above its surface. Finding it blindly is not easy, but there is no such problem with the other two. All buttons have a short and noticeable stroke.

At the top end there are two holes, one for connecting headphones, and the second for noise reduction during a conversation. There are also two holes at the bottom end. The central one is a Micro-USB interface connector for connecting a charging or data cable, the one on the right is the main microphone, also used for conversations and recording sound with a voice recorder.

The back side of the case is rounded. As we already wrote, its main part has a honeycomb pattern. There is an 8 MP camera lens, a flash LED, a logo and two slots for the speaker with a small protrusion between them, designed to help avoid muffled sound when the phone is lying on the table. There is no separate recess for removing the rear panel. Its task is performed by a hole at the bottom (Micro-USB). Hidden underneath is a 2460 mAh battery, a memory card slot and two SIM card slots. The design allows you to change the memory card without removing the battery. Its dimensions are comparable to those used in the Optimus L7, being only slightly thicker. The battery interferes with the smooth installation of SIM cards.

The build quality of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual is difficult to assess. Our early test sample does not suffer except for gaps between parts; all other “charms” are present in it. If we take the LG Optimus L7 as a guide, we can assume that there should be no problems with creaking and play in commercial samples.

Operating system and shell

Considering what year it is now, there is no reason to be surprised that the smartphone is running an operating system Android systems version 4.1.2. Google's proprietary Optimus UI 3.0 interface is used on top of the Google shell. With the exception of some minor details, we could see the same interface in . Let's look at the differences.
The first starts from the lock screen. There is no choice of screen unlock mode. There are only those in , that is, the usual ones and not so attractive after those available in the LG Optimus G. The usual ones include: “Swipe”, “Face Unlock”, “ Graphic key", PIN and "Password", or without blocking at all.

A desktop can include from one to seven windows. The shortcut bar at the bottom of the screen holds from one to six shortcuts. The shell supports creating folders by dragging shortcuts onto each other. The notification panel contains a line with customizable switches (11 pieces), a brightness slider, date, time and a button to go to the “Settings” menu. Due to the low screen resolution, there is no line with QSlide applications.

In the Desktop settings, you can select the type of effect when transitioning between windows, one of four themes, set cyclic scrolling, and also activate the ability to operate the interface in landscape mode. Another feature that was not present in the LG Optimus G is the choice of icon size; they can be either standard, occupying one cell, or large, occupying four. Perhaps the developers wanted to make the interface more convenient for people with poor vision, but placing such a shortcut in the bottom line quick launch does not seem possible. As a result, other than pampering, there is no benefit from this opportunity.

The numeric dialing keypad only supports the Latin alphabet. The list of applications can be presented either as a 4x5 or 5x6 matrix. If necessary, the user can hide certain shortcuts, select a background image and sort applications by alphabet or date of download. Downloaded applications and widgets are displayed as separate shortcuts.

Safety Care has appeared among the applications. It allows you to send your coordinates by text message to a specified number if you dial the number emergency service. Send a notification with coordinates if the phone is inactive for a certain period of time (from 12 hours to 3 days, or a period specified manually), including before the battery runs out or when you dial one of the pre-stored numbers from phone book. This application can really come in handy in emergency situations, the main thing is that at this moment you are not left without communication and/or money in your account. I wish all smart phones had something like this. Perhaps its presence will save someone's life.

IN text messages removed the ability to select a window with conversations and dynamic scaling, leaving only the change background image. The gallery still supports a pinch gesture to change the amount of content displayed, but the video player no longer has this feature.

SIM settings allow you to use cards from the first and second slots, assign them one of five icons, set a color scheme, enable data transfer by selecting one of two SIM cards and allow it not to be disconnected even when roaming. Separately in the section “ Mobile networks"You can change which card will work in 2G and 3G mode. In the “Data Transfer”, “Call Settings”, “Sound” and “About Phone” menus, you can do more fine settings, including ringtone and call forwarding, or see detailed information about the SIM card.

The QSlide application suite consists of one video player. Like the LG Optimus G, you can adjust the player's transparency and move it around the screen, but you cannot pause or scale it. But, unlike Optimus G, the smartphone interface supports horizontal orientation, which means you can watch videos in landscape mode. It is not possible to launch a browser, calendar, calculator or notes, which is somewhat strange, because the simultaneous operation of these applications clearly requires fewer resources than when viewing a video in a separate window. A nice and useful detail was the ability to read and respond to messages without going to the application itself. An incoming message appears in a pop-up window in the top left corner of the screen. To answer it, you need to click on the empty line below the text, which will cause the QWERTY keyboard to appear.

Hardware platform

The smartphone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play MSM8225 system-on-chip. The same one is used in and. It is manufactured using a 45nm process technology and includes two Cortex-A5 processor cores with a maximum clock frequency of 1 GHz, an Adreno 203 graphics core and 768 MB random access memory, of which the system sees about 620 MB. Taking into account the fact that even when turned on, that is, before any application was launched, a maximum of 295 MB remains free. This, as well as the processor's modest graphics capabilities, make it impossible to use the LG Optimus L7 II Dual as a device to run modern 3D games. As evidenced by the frankly weak performance results in tests graphic capabilities smartphone. But, if you don’t be overly demanding and forget for a moment about the cost of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual, as well as the fact that the LG Optimus L7 with its 512 MB of RAM, of which only 390 MB is available to the system, and even less for applications, about 135 MB, the new product is not so bad. In addition, as we have already said, they work on exactly the same hardware platform HTC Desire X and dual-sim HTC Desire SV. The performance results of the latter completely coincide with those demonstrated by the LG smartphone.

The quality of signal reception does not cause difficulties with communication within the city. The volume of the speaker is sufficient for communication in a quiet stop, but without reserve for conversations in noisy places. The volume of the second speaker is average, the vibration alert is barely noticeable.

GPS satellite search speed and Wi-Fi signal reception level are typical for modern devices, without obvious weaknesses and strengths.

The strong point of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual is its battery life. The Antutu test showed 769 points or 4 hours and 17 minutes. With this result, you can safely count on two days of work with a small number of calls, using Wi-Fi and 3G for reading news from social networks and browsing, 10-15 minutes of working with GPS, and listening to music for an hour and a half a day. When viewing HD video from Youtube via Wi-Fi at 70% screen brightness, the operating time of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual is 6 hours 30 minutes. At 50% brightness – 8 hours 45 minutes. At 0% brightness (comfortable for viewing in the dark) 11 hours and 50 minutes. Operating time in player mode (MP3, bitrate 192-320 kb/s, volume at 12 out of 15 possible levels) is just over 23 hours. In reading mode (FBReader) you can expect 8 hours and 45 minutes at 50% brightness or 15 hours and 41 minutes at 0% brightness.

Display and camera

The model is equipped with a 4.3-inch True IPS display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels and a pixel density of 217 ppi. The image quality is inferior to that of the LG Optimus L7. As LG told us, this impression was formed due to test samples; in commercial samples there should be no problems with the image. The main complaint comes down to the presence of a pink halo on a white background, as well as low viewing angles that are not typical for IPS matrices. I would like to believe this, since this display with all its properties is more like a TN matrix than an IPS.

Another annoying little thing is the lack of a light sensor, which means you have to manually adjust the brightness of the backlight. It seemed that even $250 smartphones were equipped with such a sensor, not to mention those that cost $330. Brightness indicators range from 5.9 cd/m² to 284 cd/m². Half brightness corresponds to a value of 66 cd/m².

As with the situation around the HTC Desire V and HTC Desire SV, LG upgraded the main camera, replacing the 5 MP module with an 8 MP one. True, unlike HTC's dual-SIM phones, both L7s are equipped with a front-facing VGA camera.

Despite the fact that the L7 II Dual uses a back-illuminated (BSI) sensor, image quality remains at about the same level. The interface has become somewhat different. Added the ability to shoot by voice command and the ability to edit the location of shortcuts. In video mode, we added a brightness setting. The maximum resolution of recorded video is 740x480 pixels. For comparison, HTC Desire SV boasts a higher resolution of 800x480 pixels.

Results

The new generation of L-Style is better than the previous one in everything. The LG Optimus L7 II Dual smartphone has a more compact body, while the capacity of the built-in battery has almost doubled. The hardware platform has been improved, now it is a more current Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play with a 1 GHz dual-core processor and 768 MB of RAM. The camera resolution has increased, although this did not greatly affect the final quality of pictures and videos. We have improved the interface, which is almost in no way inferior to the top-end LG Optimus G. In general, the smartphone leaves a pleasant impression, and taking into account the fact that its price at the start is lower than that of the LG Optimus L7, we can assume that it is also popular with LG Optimus L7 II Dual will be significantly higher.
The Optimus L7 II Dual has more than enough competitors. The main one is, built on the same hardware platform, with a display of the same diagonal and camera resolution. HTC has better materials and workmanship on its side. On the LG side, operating time, dimensions, current version operating systems i and functional shell, as well as the presence of an additional programmable key and ease of setting up SIM cards. Among other strong competitors, it is worth noting the popular

Accelerometer(or G-sensor) - sensor of the device’s position in space. As the main function, the accelerometer is used to automatic change orientation of the image on the display (vertical or horizontal). Also, G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled various functions device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope- a sensor that measures rotation angles relative to a fixed coordinate system. Capable of measuring rotation angles in several planes simultaneously. A gyroscope together with an accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. Devices that use only accelerometers have lower measurement accuracy, especially when fast movement. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor- a sensor that sets the optimal brightness and contrast values for this level illumination The presence of a sensor allows you to increase the battery life of the device.
Proximity sensor- a sensor that detects when the device is close to your face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing random clicks. The presence of a sensor allows you to increase the battery life of the device.
Geomagnetic sensor- a sensor for determining the direction of the world in which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the magnetic poles of the Earth. The information received from the sensor is used in mapping programs for terrain orientation.
Atmospheric pressure sensor- sensor for precise measurement atmospheric pressure. It is part of the GPS system, allows you to determine altitude above sea level and speed up location determination.
Touch ID- fingerprint identification sensor.

Satellite navigation:

GPS(Global Positioning System) is a satellite navigation system that provides measurements of distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is developed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine location by measuring distances to an object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated by the delay time of signal propagation from sending it by the satellite to receiving it by the antenna of the GPS receiver.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measurement principle is similar to the American system GPS navigation. GLONASS is designed for operational navigation and timing support for land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchrony) with the rotation of the Earth, which provides them with greater stability.
