Apple is preparing a gadget that will make all owners of equipment repair shops from Cupertino millionaires.

The main smartphone of the year is awaited with trepidation and excitement. On the one hand, the flagship must be grand - new design and the 10-year anniversary of the first iPhone are generating maximum hype around the release.

On the other hand, the iPhone 8 (we will call it that purely for convenience) already has three confirmed and critical disadvantages:

1. The disappearance of the most convenient TouchID. It definitely hasn’t been possible to integrate it into the screen, so they will tell us that facial recognition is a cooler topic than a fingerprint scanner. Doubtful.

2. Hell of a price. OLED screens are expensive, so the starting price of 80 thousand does not look outlandish. Moreover, there is a possibility that the cost of the top modification will be close to one hundred.

3. New format screen. Apple will put an edge-to-edge display, but will make a rather ugly notch for front camera, light sensor and earpiece. There are two shortcomings here. Firstly, at first the front camera will be constantly stained with fingerprints - after all, we are used to lowering the top bar with a quick swipe. Secondly, you will have to get used to the new way of calling the status bar.

Unfortunately, all the complaints listed above are the little things in life.

The main disaster that awaits us in the iPhone 8 is the glass body.

Let's remember the iPhone 4/4s. I don’t know about you, but among my friends it was harder to find a alive and intact “four” than a beaten one. Some friends even developed a philosophy: they replaced the windows only after breaking both the back and the front.

But it is important to understand: in those days (2010-2013 - the peak of the popularity of 4/4s) repairs were significantly cheaper than now. I broke it, found a couple of thousand, installed a non-original piece of glass, waited for the next break - a simple algorithm.

With the iPhone 8, everything will be much tougher, especially in the first weeks.

As far as I know, replacing the screen on an iPhone 7 Plus costs 10-12 thousand rubles with a non-original spare part and 18-20 thousand with branded glass. In the context of the iPhone 8, these amounts can be immediately multiplied by one and a half to two times: both the increased complexity of the work and the frightening price of the spare part will have an impact.

I believe that now the groans of those who broke the frameless phone are not heard for only one reason - there are still too few devices without frames. Samsung, Xiaomi and other Chinese guys are engaged in their production - this is not serious and not large-scale yet.

But the release of the iPhone will change the system: people will naturally go broke on repairs. You hit your phone, you pay 30 thousand, and then you walk around again with a broken screen. That's fun.

How to escape?

Very simple, but boring:

1. Accept that the case and film (protective glass) for the iPhone 8 are like a ventilator for a hopeless vegetable. You must either use life-saving means, or accept that without them the device will soon die.

2. Take a closer look at the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus - they practically do not crack, and they ask for reasonable money for repairs. Moreover, the price of “sevens” will soon collapse.

And one more life hack:

You're better off forgetting about the existence of insurance for smartphones. When you buy an iPhone 8, you will be promptly asked to insure it. This is a deception: if you break your phone, at best it will take you a month and a half to fix it, and at worst they will say that you yourself are to blame for the breakdown. So don’t even think about paying insurers - they are scoundrels.

That's all.

Let's hope that the iPhone 8 will still be stronger than rock crystal.

Less than a month has passed since the global start of sales of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, and service centers are already receiving many requests related to the repair of new smartphones.

As the ModMac service center told us, all requests from iPhone 8 owners and this moment are associated with either a broken display or a damaged rear glass panel. Needless to say, this pleasure is not cheap: so, replacement iPhone display 8 for the original - 25,990 rubles.

As for, it comes out noticeably cheaper - 7,990 rubles and 9,990 rubles for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, respectively. True, it is she who is more susceptible to damage.

To understand all the intricacies of the repair, the service center purchases and then disassembles several new iPhones, so by the time of the first calls, the specialists already thoroughly know all the problem areas and nuances of the repair. Despite the popularity of the above types of repairs, they are among the most difficult. The reason lies in the fact that during disassembly of the device it is very easy to damage the internal components, which in the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are significantly different from previous models.

Therefore, if you entrust repairs to an unprofessional technician, you may encounter the following problems:

  • Break the screen when removing it;
  • Break the display cable, and repairs will cost 15,990 rubles or 17,990 rubles;
  • Damage the battery, replacing which will cost 6,990 rubles;
  • Break the train wireless charging, ;

There is also a possibility of damage to the board; as a result, an already not very cheap repair could cost the cost of a new phone. That is why you should contact only trusted service centers that have the necessary experience, equipment and knowledge if you do experience an unpleasant breakdown.

In addition, the service center shared information about the water resistance of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. It turned out that the IP67 protection of the new smartphones is the same as that of the previous generation, which means protection against partial or short-term immersion in water to a depth of one meter. What's more, Apple warns that "damage due to liquid contact is not covered under warranty."

Apple iPhone 8 and Apple iPhone 8 Plus - is it worth buying?

At the risk of incurring the wrath of Apple fans, let's try to figure out whether it's worth buying the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus or whether only the iPhone X deserves attention

Is it worth buying new iPhone?

The very formulation of the question immediately puts it in the category of holivar. For a real Apple fan, any criticism of Apple is pure blasphemy. And any mention of competitors in this context only evokes a condescending smile.

On the other hand, the days of Apple's unconditional dominance are long gone. There are plenty of smartphones on the market that represent the best combination of price and quality. In any case, an increasing number of users think so.

Previously, it was easy to dismiss this argument, pointing to the notorious user experience and bug-free operating system iOS system, which more than compensated for the lack of some functions in the iPhone or weaker characteristics.

But Android has come a long way in recent years. And, while still winning in flexibility of settings, it is now not inferior to iOS in stability. And the latest iOS “gags” are capable of infuriating even the most ardent fan (more on that below).

In addition, Apple's main innovations in 2017 are concentrated in the iPhone X - this is a truly interesting gadget in many respects. Thus, the new iPhone 8 looks quite pale.

1 Minimum innovation

The Apple iPhone 8 is a minimal upgrade over the iPhone 7.

This is not a new argument. Previously, something similar was always said about models with the “s” prefix. They repeated the design of last year's models and had only one or two new functions. And many users simply skipped them in anticipation of “completely new” iPhone next of the year.

From this point of view, the iPhone 8 should actually be called the iPhone 7s.

But the situation looks somewhat atypical, because the iPhone 7 itself was the first new product in the history of an Apple smartphone to use the same design for the third (!) time in a row.

Thus, the iPhone 8 is already the fourth incarnation of the design introduced in 2014 with iPhone release 6.

In a word, if you are the owner of a “Seven” and at the same time you are not one of those Apple fans who buy new products because “it’s Apple” and because there is money, then an upgrade is not necessary.

2 Price

Again, this argument won't have any effect on "real" Apple fans, but for others it might matter. Especially if you are going to buy new iPhones in Ukraine at local prices.

Prices for the 64 GB version start from 25 thousand UAH, and for 256 GB you will have to pay more than 30 thousand UAH. And if you're interested in the iPhone 8 Plus, the numbers are even higher.

Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are the most expensive smartphones in the world, which in terms of their characteristics and capabilities are quite consistent with... Android flagships from a year ago (more on this below).

3 Image?

From an image point of view, the iPhone is still on top. No matter how Samsung’s PR people fight, in polite society, casually taking the “latest” iPhone out of your pocket is still more pretentious than anything else.

But even from this point of view, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will not be a smart purchase. External differences from the “sevens” and “sixes” are minimal. The glass “back” is not always noticeable at a quick glance, especially if the smartphone is in a case (and this is how they are most often carried, considering how expensive it is, often bought on credit).

The real image hit of fall 2017 will be the iPhone X. But it costs completely different money.

4 Practicality

The glass “back”, which appeared for the sake of the wireless charging function, is many times less practical than the metal one.

Have you ever repaired broken screen on iPhone? Remember the prices? So, the back of the iPhone 8 can break in the same way as the front.

In the USA, the price for replacing the rear has already been announced. iPhone panels 8 is $349. For iPhone 8 Plus - $399. That's higher than the cost of replacing the screen! This is the logic of doing business at Apple.

And in Ukraine prices are likely to be even higher.

The metal back cover of the “sixes” and “sevens” is many times more practical. Metal is more difficult to damage than glass. Many owners of devices that have been repeatedly dropped never even thought of changing the back covers.

5 Lagging behind competitors

Apple iPhone 8 is comparable in its characteristics and capabilities to Samsung Galaxy S7 and a number of other flagships from last year. Today you can buy them for absolutely ridiculous money compared to the iPhone 8.

This year's flagships are ahead in terms of their capabilities. The iPhone X is designed to compete with them. Well, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus look pale against this background.

In fact, the only reasonable purchase scenario is this: you broke your iPhone 7 and don’t want to buy the same model a second time. The revolutionary iPhone X is too expensive for you, and for some reason you are not considering Android. In this case, the “eight” is a completely logical update.

6 Accessories

The iPhone 8 is the first time Apple has introduced a fast charging feature, which many competitors have had for a long time. But unlike them, Apple decided to make a little extra money on accessories.

Therefore, a fast charging plug is not included with the iPhone 8. It must be purchased separately.

Full charging set (it is identical here to the one for new MacBooks) will cost almost 2 thousand UAH.

This is a typical Apple story. The company has very expensive branded cables and chargers, which, by the way, are not always very reliable.

Of course, alternative chargers “from China” are already on the way. And their price will be lower. But competitors usually come with such a charger included.

7 "Jokes" iOS

Apple has always acted as if better users knows what they need. Last thing iOS update resulted in the user turning off WiFi and Bluetooth via quick settings, can't actually be sure that connections will actually be disconnected.

The company felt that users are not always able to understand that by disabling connection protocols, they can disrupt the operation of, say, Apple Watch. Therefore, in order to really completely turn off these services, you need to go to the menu and turn off the connections there again.

And yes, there is still no normal in iOS file manager(the one that appeared in iOS 11 is more of a means of accessing files in iCloud). Also, it's 2017, but working with files on the iPhone still requires desktop computer with iTunes (in some cases this can be bypassed, but this is not obvious to most users).

Also, iOS still has a strange limitation on the size of files downloaded via cellular network. Considering current prices for Mobile Internet And available packages, including many gigabytes of traffic, it is hardly logical to run around and look for WiFi in order to download an update that is a measly 300 MB in size.

And you still can't arrange app icons any way you want. For example, at the top and bottom of the screen, so that, for example, you can admire the beautiful desktop wallpaper. And some kind of widgets that appeared in iOS a couple of years ago can still be used only on a separate screen, and not on all desktops. This is probably not least why most users don’t even remember their existence.

You still can't record telephone conversations. On Android you can do this with third party applications, and many smartphones in recent years have such functionality right in their native firmware.

8 Wrong iPhone

And again about the main thing. The real “new” iPhone of 2017 is the iPhone X.

Its advantages and disadvantages are a topic for a separate article. However, it is clear that a number of innovative solutions that Apple has used in the iPhone X make it an interesting player in the market.

Even the most ardent Apple “haters” cannot say that the iPhone X is a dummy.

In other words, the iPhone X is the noteworthy gadget from Apple this year. Not the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.

Fair, not overpriced and not underestimated. There should be prices on the Service website. Necessarily! without asterisks, clear and detailed, where technically possible - as accurate and concise as possible.

If spare parts are available, up to 85% of complex repairs can be completed in 1-2 days. Modular repairs require much less time. The website shows the approximate duration of any repair.

Warranty and responsibility

A guarantee must be given for any repairs. Everything is described on the website and in the documents. The guarantee is self-confidence and respect for you. A 3-6 month warranty is good and sufficient. It is needed to check quality and hidden defects that cannot be detected immediately. You see honest and realistic terms (not 3 years), you can be sure that they will help you.

Half the success in Apple repair is the quality and reliability of spare parts, so a good service works directly with suppliers, there are always several reliable channels and your own warehouse with proven spare parts for current models, so you don’t have to waste extra time.

Free diagnostics

This is very important and has already become a rule of good manners for service center. Diagnostics is the most difficult and important part of the repair, but you don't have to pay a penny for it, even if you don't repair the device based on its results.

Service repairs and delivery

Good service values your time, so he offers free shipping. And for the same reason, repairs are carried out only in the workshop of a service center: they can be done correctly and according to technology only in a prepared place.

Convenient schedule

If the Service works for you, and not for itself, then it is always open! absolutely. The schedule should be convenient to fit in before and after work. Good service works on weekends and holidays. We are waiting for you and working on your devices every day: 9:00 - 21:00

The reputation of professionals consists of several points

Company age and experience

Reliable and experienced service has been known for a long time.
If a company has been on the market for many years and has managed to establish itself as an expert, people turn to it, write about it, and recommend it. We know what we are talking about, since 98% of incoming devices in the service center are restored.
Other service centers trust us and refer complex cases to us.

How many masters in areas

If there are always several engineers waiting for you for each type of equipment, you can be sure:
1. there will be no queue (or it will be minimal) - your device will be taken care of right away.
2. you give your Macbook for repair to an expert in the field of Mac repairs. He knows all the secrets of these devices

Technical literacy

If you ask a question, a specialist should answer it as accurately as possible.
So that you can imagine what exactly you need.
They will try to solve the problem. In most cases, from the description you can understand what happened and how to fix the problem.

Since Apple company presented the eighth iPhone, fans of Apple products are very worried about the pressing question, in principle - is it worth changing the good old “Seven” to the updated iPhone 8 or 8 Plus? Today we will tell you about how the two gadgets differ from each other, and whether it’s worth buying a new iPhone at all.

Let's start with the design and end with the battery capacity.

Appearance and cost

So, the new G8 has some design differences. This is not to say that they are global, but, nevertheless, they are striking. The back panel of the iPhone 8 is now made of glass, and not aluminum, like the seven. Accordingly, the fragility of the smartphone has become 2 times higher, and given the slippery surface of the glass back panel, it is very easy to drop and break the iPhone 8. Without good case Now it’s definitely not possible!

Of course, the manufacturer promises that this glass is as much as 50% stronger than similar materials in previous models. This promise reassures users a little in case the phone accidentally falls, but whether this is actually the case remains to be seen.

The size and weight of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 differ slightly, literally by tenths of a millimeter, meaning even the cases will fit. But the weight increased by 10 grams, and the iPhone 7 was not very light anyway.

The Plus models have a slightly larger difference.

As for the cost of the device, it is approximately 14 thousand higher than previous models, if we compare the younger versions in terms of memory capacity. By the way, the iPhone 8 now does not have a model with 32 GB of memory, only 64 or 256 GB.

Display

The display remains almost the same, resolution 1334x750 pixels, 326 pixels per inch , Retina HD.

But the eighth iPhone has a “trick” that is unique to it. It's called the True Tone feature. It works quite simply: the display colors themselves adjust to the ambient lighting. By the way, if you pay attention to user reviews, the function works flawlessly.

As soon as you enter a room with poor lighting, the display becomes brighter and the colors become much warmer. As soon as you go outside on a cloudy day, the device will helpfully change the display colors to colder and even bluish shades.

What about the camera?

Is there a difference in the cameras of the seven and eight? Let's figure it out.

The number of megapixels in the iPhone 8 Plus and the good old “Seven” is the same. This applies to both front and rear cameras.

But there are still differences. Latest version flagship can shoot 4K video with really high speed! It is 60 frames per second, in the iPhone 7 in 4K mode it was possible to shoot only at 30 frames per second. Slow motion mode has also improved, now you can shoot in 1080p and at 120 or 240 fps. This is truly one of the most significant changes!

And although Apple claims that the rear camera of the eighth flagship is modified with some kind of mega-cool, large and fast sensor, color filter and “deep” pixels, the average user is unlikely to notice such improvements. Judging by the reviews, the majority of G8 owners claim that they did not see any difference.

CPU

There aren’t that many people using iPhone 8 yet, but they all managed to notice that the device works much faster compared to iPhone 7.

The eighth iPhone has a dual-core A11 Bionic chip from Apple. Today it is the most powerful and affects the performance of the device. The device works a little faster and more efficiently.

Method of charging the gadget

Perhaps this is a really significant difference between the eighth iPhone and the seventh. iPhone 8 has wireless charging! The device starts charging after you place it on a small pad called AirPower. By the way, this is precisely the reason why I had to do it back cover made of glass in iPhone 8/8 Plus.

The new product allows you to charge up to three Apple devices simultaneously. But this charger is sold separately.

In addition, the iPhone 8 has a “fast charging” function and you can charge your device up to 50% in 30 minutes using Apple USB power adapters, the power of which is 29 W, 61 W or 87 W. Is it true fast charging is also not included in the kit and costs from RUB 3,590.00. Moreover, it is also 10 times larger in size than usual, and this is very impractical!

The iPhone 8 comes with a 5-watt Charger at 1 ampere, exactly the same as in the iPhone 7, that is, initially there are no advantages in charging speed over the seven, without purchasing additional accessories.

Memory

And here there are differences between seven and eight. The new generation of flagships starts with 64 GB of memory, which is logical. For numerous photos, videos (especially in 4K) and music, you need a lot of available memory and 32 GB, with which the line of seventh iPhones started, is frankly not enough. The maximum memory size is 256 GB.

BY

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come with iOS 11 initially installed, which added such long-awaited features as screen video recording, more smart Siri with a human voice and much more.

But an update to iOS 11 is already available for the iPhone 7, so there are no differences between the seven and eight. By the way, if you haven’t updated yet, you can see all the innovations new iOS in this short video:

Battery

And here lovers of “apple” products suffered bitter disappointment. The fact is that the iPhone 8 Plus has a smaller battery capacity than the seventh iPhone! It is 2675 mAh, while for the “seven” this figure reached 2900 mAh.

Probably, after creating the A11 chip and wireless charging, Apple decided not to spend extra money. But, as the manufacturer claims, the operating time of the new iPhone will be no less than that of the iPhone 7, thanks to a more energy-efficient processor. Judging by the reviews, this is indeed the case. But they could increase the capacity in the new iPhone.

Model colors

The flagship iPhone 8/8+ is available in three colors:

    Silver (silver);

    Space gray (gray);

Here the iPhone 7 wins, it has 5 main body colors available, not counting the limited red.

IN iPhone protection 8 It is worth saying that red and dark blue colors will go on sale over time.

    So what should you choose?

What to choose - the new iPhone 8/8+ or the proven iPhone 7/7+? After we have told you in detail about all the differences between the models, it is up to you to decide. There are no fundamental differences, only minor improvements; by the way, the issue with the rear glass cover is debatable - whether this is an improvement or a deterioration.

If your budget is limited, then buy a “seven”, but if your funds allow, treat yourself to a brand new iPhone 8. But users are not advised to switch from the seventh to the eighth iPhone, since it was not possible to see much of a difference between them.

You will probably be interested to see a comparison of the two devices in video format!
