Even on a new computer, just delivered from the store, there will be several programs that the user does not need. Of course, Windows 7 itself tries to load deeper into RAM, including some never-used services. The user has not yet hit the keys, and his computer is already wasting its power on something unnecessary. We will tell you in detail in our article how to find and disable unnecessary processes and how to remove unnecessary programs without harming your computer.

Where do you get unnecessary programs on your computer?

Unnecessary programs get onto your computer in several ways:

Even if hard disk space and reserve random access memory Enough, unnecessary applications should be removed for security reasons. Many of them, trying to customize their work to the interests and preferences of the user, collect personal information and transfer it to their servers. Sometimes this channel also becomes transparent to malicious software that can disrupt the operation of the computer.

Which programs and processes in Windows 7 can be removed, and which ones should be left alone?

The main rule when removing unnecessary programs or services is: “Know what you are doing!” Before you remove an unfamiliar program, you should figure out what it does and where it came from on your computer. The same applies to Windows services 7.

Removal should take place according to the established procedure, and not by erasing the folder with the program, since otherwise the computer will be clogged with the remnants of unnecessary directories, settings, and browser bookmarks. It is very useful to create a system restore point on the eve of the “big clean”, this will allow you to undo the results of unsuccessful work.

Without fear of negative consequences, you can disable some system services.

How to remove unnecessary programs and services

Most programs can be easily removed using standard Windows 7 tools; for others, special applications should be used. Sometimes the manufacturer intentionally installs utilities that the user cannot remove, such as Samsung's Disable_Windowsupdate.exe. Unnecessary services and processes can also be disabled in several ways. However, the first step before seriously cleaning your computer should be to create a point Windows recovery 7 in case of incorrect removal of system components.

Creating a restore point

  • Click the “Start” button and in the right column of the menu that opens, select the “Computer” line.
  • Right-click on “Computer” and in the opened context menu Find the “Properties” line and select it.
  • In the large “All Control Panel Elements - System” window that appears, select the “System Protection” tab on the left.
  • The “System Protection” tab opens along with the “System Properties” window. At the bottom there is the on-screen button we need “Create”.
  • The process of creating a restore point is almost completely automated. You need to come up with a name in order to later identify the point, and then press the “Create” on-screen button.
  • After the process is successfully completed, the system will notify us that a new point has been created. Now, if something goes wrong, you can “roll back” Windows 7 to this location.
  • "Control Panel"

  • To access the standard service for removing installed programs, click the “Start” button and select “Control Panel” on the right side of the menu.
  • In the large “All Control Panel Items” window that appears, find the “Programs and Features” tab and go to it.
  • By default, a large window opens with the subtitle “Remove or change a program”, in the central part of which there is a complete list of programs installed on our computer. We select with the mouse the application that we decided to delete.
  • Immediately after clicking the mouse, active on-screen buttons appear just above the list of programs. We need a "Delete" button. Let's press it.
  • Windows 7 gives us one last chance to change our minds by asking us to confirm the deletion. If the desire remains, click the “Yes” button.
  • After removing some programs, it is better to reboot, which the system will offer at the end of the procedure. You can do this later, when all unnecessary applications and services are removed.
  • "Start"

You can get to the same “Uninstall or change a program” window with a list of applications through the “Start” button, by clicking on it and typing “Uninstall a program” in the search bar. Having selected the menu line of the same name, we get to the desired window, after which we act according to the already known algorithm.

You can also use the uninstaller of the program itself. To do this, click “Start”, then “All Programs”. In the list that opens, select the right application(some are grouped into folders) and right-click on it.

In the context menu that opens, we need the “Delete” line. We press it and we see the “Delete Shortcut” window pop up, warning us that by continuing in the same way, we will delete the shortcut, but will not touch the application.

Let’s listen to the advice and go to the active line “Programs and Features”. This will again take us to the familiar “Uninstall or change a program” window.

    "Task Manager"

  • The "Task Manager" in Windows 7 is called in several ways, including the hotkey combination Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
  • In the “Services” tab you can see all installed system services, including stopped ones. Their status is visible in the “Status” column. Here you can also stop a running utility if you wish, by selecting it in the list and clicking the right mouse button. In the small context menu you now need to select “Stop Service”.
  • From the same tab, you can click on the “Services” button to the large window of the same name, which contains a description of each service and provides buttons to stop them.
  • Task Manager also allows you to view and disable running programs on your computer. The “Processes” tab displays data on running applications, their brief description and consumption of processor and RAM resources. By right-clicking on the name of the extra process, we open the context menu.
  • To forcefully stop the program, you must select the “End process” item or the on-screen button of the same name at the bottom of the tab.
  • Terminating a process means stopping a specific session of a service or application, but does not affect its running in the future. To prevent the service from being started by the system during the next session, you must disable it.

How to disable services using System Configuration

The list of services can be edited using “System Configuration”, which is called from the command line.

  • Press the Win keys (with the Windows branded flag) and R. In the “Open” input line of the “Run” window that appears, type the msconfig command.
  • After clicking the OK screen button, the “System Configuration” window opens. We need the Services tab.
  • The list of services is now before us. To disable, simply remove the checkbox to the left of the name of all services to be disabled, and then click the “Apply” on-screen button.

Specialized programs for cleaning the system

There are quite a few small programs that specialize in removing unnecessary applications. Some focus on cleaning the computer from unnecessary folders, which sometimes are not noticed by standard Windows tools 7, others maintain a “black list” of advertising and advertising installed applications, looking for them on the computer. Still others allow fine tuning system services.

PC Decrapifier - cleaning according to the “black list”

PC Decrapifier captivates with its honesty: freeing your computer from unnecessary software, it does not ask you to install it on HDD himself, but is content with launching with external media. The application is free, new versions are released regularly and the database of unsolicited programs is updated. The interface is simple and intuitive. Before the main stage of work begins, a restore point is created.

  • Having downloaded PC Decrapifier from the manufacturer’s website, we immediately launch the executable file; no separate installation is required. The welcome window prompts you to check for updates. When you first start, this is not necessary, since we already have fresh databases installed, but later this button may be needed. Click the Next on-screen button.
  • We go through the following standard two windows: license and warning, each time clicking Next.
  • PC Decrapifier asks if our computer is new. The point of this question is that relatively useful applications, but unnecessary for the user, are often installed on a new computer, the list of which is constantly updated. The same programs found on a working machine were most likely deliberately installed. We set the answer switch to the question in accordance with the newness of the computer and click Next.
  • Another preliminary step is to create a restore point. If this was not done a little earlier using standard Windows 7 tools, we agree to the offer. Having dealt with this issue, click Next, moving on to the main stage.
  • After checking the computer, PC Decrapifier checks the list of installed programs with its “black list”. Detected “uninvited guests” are collected on the next window with a proposal to delete them automatically. Here you can read a brief description of the utilities and, if you wish, cancel their deletion by unchecking the box to the left of the name.
  • Just in case, PC Decrapifier shows a list of other installed packages, indicating their publishers. Unlike the previous window, by default all the “birds” are cleared, that is, the program will be deleted only at the user’s request. Moreover, instead of brief description Interactive Help lines with information about applications are available. To add an unnecessary application to the list for deletion, just check the box to the left of its name.
  • All that remains is to click on Next again, and on the next window Finish, having first unchecked the Submit feedback box. The removal process has started.
  • Reboot and check if everything is working correctly. If necessary, use the created restore point.
  • PC Decrapifier by some antivirus programs incorrectly classified as a dangerous application. This is not true, the warning can be ignored. Considering that PC Decrapifier does not require installation, takes up little space and is distributed free of charge, to be completely sure, you can remove it and download it again from the manufacturer’s website.

    CCleaner program

  • CCleaner, a powerful utility for cleaning your computer from unnecessary information, is distributed free of charge, takes up little space on your hard drive, but requires installation.
  • The program remembers where temporary files are stored in Windows 7 itself, as well as in major browsers and many applications. An intuitive interface in Russian allows you to run a system analysis to compile a list of what CCleaner considers unnecessary.
  • Uninstalling programs is located in the “Service” tab. The program compiles a list of installed programs, activating the “Uninstall” and “Delete” buttons when selecting a specific application.
  • Here you can edit the startup list, removing unnecessary applications from it.
  • Powerful scanning and removal of indestructible programs with IObit Uninstaller

Another free application, specializing in high-quality removal of unnecessary programs. It carefully searches for all traces of the work of the package being removed and cleans them up. IObit Uninstaller allows you to create restore points before each uninstall, as well as forcefully remove “resistant” programs.

  • When you first launch the program, you should remove the checkbox at the bottom of the screen so as not to add unnecessary applications to your computer.
  • The application generates a list of installed programs, offering to select candidates for removal. To do this, click the “Delete” on-screen button. If you need to uninstall several applications in one package, check the box next to “Batch uninstall” in the upper right part of the window. Even higher is the “Forced deletion” tab, used for particularly stubborn applications that refuse voluntary erasure.
  • Before clicking the button with the same name on the next window, you can create a restore point by checking the appropriate box.
  • Standard removal is quick. Now the program offers to use its proprietary function “ Powerful scanning» to search for all traces remote application.
  • The search results are presented in the next window. By default, all found elements are marked for deletion; if you want to keep something, just uncheck it. All that remains is to click “Delete”.
  • The last traces of the deleted application are erased from the computer. If for some reason it is necessary to delete information with a guaranteed impossibility of its recovery, you can select “File Shredder” in the menu (the button to the right of the “Forced deletion” option). The process will take a little longer, but sometimes it makes sense to go to such expense.
  • Other programs

    • Should I Remove It? An alternative to PC Decrapifier, which also keeps a list of unnecessary programs. It has a different interface (ratings are highlighted in color), as well as a constant connection with the main site. Simpler, does not provide for editing startup.
    • Slim Computer. Creates a broader list for removal, including browser extensions and plugins. “Kills” unnecessary processes and programs.
    • AdwCleaner. Specializes in removing unwanted elements from browsers. Generates a report as a text file.

Manufacturers and sellers of software products spend a lot of effort and money to ensure that their applications are installed on your computer. And they pay much less attention to the complete removal of their packages, and sometimes they deliberately resist this. Therefore, in order to remain the master of your hardware, you need to regularly clean it of uninvited guests.

In this article I continue the topic of optimizing computer operation; today we will stop some programs running in background to speed up and speed up your PC.

In the last lesson we disabled programs from startup(if you haven’t read this lesson, then I advise you to start with it, the link is at the end of this article), thereby increasing performance, and now we will disable Windows services running in the background.

Any of these services can be either system or third-party, but they all eat up a small part of the system’s resources; if you consider that there are several dozen of them, the load increases noticeably.

Of course in most cases system programs working in the background are necessary for the normal operation of the computer, but there are some that are not needed at all and are unlikely to be needed by anyone.

When disabling yourself, you need to be extremely careful; when disabling any process, you need to know what it is responsible for so as not to harm the OS. Below I will give a small list of what can be excluded and what can be switched to manual mode.

    What programs can I disable?

To do this you need to log in Service Management by pressing right click click on the My Computer shortcut, which is located on yours, or select Computer. In the menu that appears, select Control

then click on Services and applications and the last point Services. Here you can see all the necessary and unnecessary programs running in the background; in total, I have more than 150 of them!

First of all, I advise you to look through the entire list and find some familiar programs that you may have installed and simply disable them.

For example: torrent clients µTorrent or BitComet you can safely disable them, unless of course you distribute some files day and night. Program Skype(Skype) if you call once a month, then why will it waste resources every day?

Also with other programs, if there is no need for it to work every minute, feel free to stop it. Do not be confused in any way, disabling a program does not mean it will not work in the future! When you need it, just run it with , as you usually do.

Background mode is a standby mode, that is, the program is always running, although it is not used.

And finally, the list I promised Windows services which can be disabled for sure or switched to manual mode.

    Parental Control– turn off
KtmRm for distributed transaction coordinator– manually
Adaptive adjustment— disabling brightness is necessary only for PC owners. with built-in light sensor for automatic adjustment monitor brightness
WWAN auto setup– disable if you do not have CDMA or GSM modules
Windows Firewall– disable it if your antivirus has this service
Computer browser– translate manually when not using the local network
    Support IP Service– turn off
    Secondary login– disable or manually
Dispatcher automatic connections remote access – disable or manually
Print Manager– turn it off if we don’t use the printer
Windows Defender– disable it, a completely unnecessary service
    Distributed Transaction Coordinator– turn off
NetBIOS Support Module– disable, but provided that there is no local network (connection of 2 computers or more)
Setting up a Remote Desktop Server– turn off
Bluetooth support– we turn it off, I don’t think this is relevant now.
Download service Windows images(WIA)– if you use a scanner, you don’t touch anything
Service remote control Windows– turn off
    Remote Desktop Service– turn off
    Smartcard– turn off
Tablet PC input service– turn off
Remote registry– everything is generally bad here; there is an opinion that this is a kind of open door for a virus that can change system registry. Definitely disable
Fax– we turn it off, it’s completely a thing of the past.

To disable a service, double-click on it with the left mouse button, a window will open where we change the value Startup type from Automatic to Disabled then Stop//Apply//OK. This is how we deal with every service we dislike.

This is the list of services that I was able to find out about; I will be glad if anyone can add to it in the comments to this article.

This article is over, but the topic of optimization will be continued, subscribe to updates so as not to miss it and other subsequent articles.

Many users are interested in what processes can be disabled in the manager Windows tasks 7 ? It is impossible to answer unequivocally, since different computers, completely different processes can be launched.

First, then go to the "processes" section. Their number will be displayed at the bottom of the window; check the option to display all user processes to see the full list.

In my case there are 134 of them, since I use a lot of software and services. At the same time, the PC works stably. Still depends on the system configuration. In your case, their number may be several times less.

All processes can be divided into:

    1. System - used to maintain OS performance and stability individual elements Windows 7.
    2. User - launched under the user name (administrator).

In the “user” column you can determine which group the process belongs to. Not recommended complete system processes in Windows 7 task manager, since this in most cases will lead to a crash and restart of the system.

Note: the system itself will not allow you to complete the most important processes or they will appear again.

Most user processes can and should be terminated. Mainly installed programs and their services, but there are exceptions. For example, when you exit explorer.exe, your taskbar and desktop shortcuts will disappear.

If you are not sure about completion, right-click on the process and select “file storage location” from the menu. If the file is located in the Windows directory, it is not recommended to touch it, except malware. In all other cases you can complete the process.

List of processes that do not need to be terminated:

    explorerSupports correct work desktop, taskbar.

In Task Manager, left-click on the process and click " end the process" Then click on the button with the same name when the warning appears.

With these actions you will end the processes within the current Windows 7 session. When you reboot or next start, some killed processes will be launched again, so to permanently shut down, do the following:

    1. or remove it from startup.
    2. Stop (recommended) or (for experienced).

Now you know, what processes can be terminated in Windows 7 task manager. After all, each of them eats up a certain amount of resources, loading the system. With the right approach, you can clean out unused or harmful elements, increasing PC performance.

It's no secret that Windows systems often have so many unnecessary user-needed features activated by default. background processes and services that just makes your head spin. It is quite natural that many people think about system optimization issues, since some applets load the computer resources quite heavily, which is why even user programs work very slowly. But if only this were the case! But often many people do not pay attention to the fact that the system constantly monitors user actions, uses data about his location, updates its own components without his knowledge, etc.

    You might be interested in:

But which application to prefer, because on the Internet you can find many such applets, and every developer praises his own software, claiming that he is the best?

If your computer is running slowly and the space hard drive overloaded, clean it of unnecessary programs and components, and also disable unnecessary processes and services. This can be done using standard Windows tools or using third-party programs.

Where do unnecessary programs come from?

What programs and processes can be removed in Windows 7

In Windows 7, there are three categories of data that load the system - programs, processes and services. The program is installed on the computer to perform the function required by the user. The process may be systemic, necessary for correct Windows operation 7, and a user one, launched along with the program. Services on the system start by default and are disabled through Computer Management.

If you are unsure whether the process can be terminated, open the location of the executable file. If it is in the system Windows folder, don't stop him.

Windows 7 prevents the user from completing some particularly important processes. When you reboot, the system starts them again.

In addition to the processes Windows system services are running, some of which can be closed using the Computer Management menu without compromising the security of the PC. List of services that can be stopped:

How to erase programs and stop processes on Windows 7

You can remove utilities and stop processes in several ways: through the Start menu, using the Control Panel and Task Manager, as well as using specially designed programs.

How to Uninstall Programs and Disable Services from the Start Menu

By opening Start, you can view the list of programs and remove some:

The disadvantage of this method is that after erasing a program using Windows, its files and residual entries in the registry are saved.

You can also stop services from the Start menu. For this:

Do not disable all services in a row - some of them are responsible for the correct operation of Windows.

Video: disabling unnecessary processes and services

How to erase an application from the Control Panel

To uninstall the utility, it is not enough to erase the folder where it is located or the icon from the desktop. From standard means Windows can use the uninstaller.

    1. Click on Start and select Control Panel.
    2. Open "Uninstall a program".
    3. The computer will open a list of programs running on the computer, in alphabetical order.
    4. Click on the name of the utility that you will uninstall and click “Uninstall/Change” at the top of the window.
    5. Confirm the deletion in the pop-up window.

After uninstallation is complete, you may need to restart your computer.

    Video: uninstallation from Control Panel

How to stop processes through Task Manager

To stop processes running in Windows, launch Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.

When you restart your computer, some processes and services start automatically. Therefore, to permanently disable it, remove the program that uses the process from startup (Task Manager, Startup tab) and disable the corresponding service.

The "Startup" tab displays a complete list of programs that start automatically when Windows startup 7. Select the programs you don't want open and uncheck the boxes next to them, then click OK. After restarting the computer, autorun will be disabled.

Other options for removing unused programs

Almost all installers prompt users to select a folder where the program files will be placed. By default, they install to the C:\Program files folder. When you open a folder, you will see folders with software. To uninstall the program directly:

    1. Go to the folder of the utility that you will erase.
    2. Inside, find the Uninstall.exe file.
    3. Double click on the file with your mouse.
    4. An uninstaller window will open. Confirm the deletion and wait until the process completes.

A more complex method is to uninstall applications from the command line. To delete:

    1. Go to command line. To do this, press Win+R and enter cmd in the “Run” window. Click OK.
    2. Enter the WMIC command and press Enter. You will see the inscription: wmic: root\cli.
    3. Enter the product get name request. After a while you will see a list of installed programs.
    4. Write: product where name = “exact name of the program” call uninstall. When writing the program name, be careful about case. If the name is entered incorrectly, pressing Enter will display error information.
    5. Press “Y” to confirm the procedure and wait until Method Execution successful appears.

Third-party programs to remove unnecessary files

Using Windows tools, erasing a program without “tails” is difficult. And the developers come up with third party applications- uninstallers. Instructions for working with some of them are given below.

    PC Decrapifier

    1. Click Check for updates.
    2. In the window that opens you will see the question “Are you using new computer"? Answer without embellishment.
    3. Create a Windows recovery label and click Next.
    4. The program will do automatic search unused applications and present them in a list.
    5. Select the checkboxes of the programs to be removed and click the Remove button.
    6. PC Decrapifier will prompt you to uninstall other programs manually. Perform as necessary.
    7. In the last window, uncheck the “Submit feedback” option and click “Finish”.

PC Decrapifier copes well with third-party software, toolbars and applications imposed when loading other programs.

    CCleaner - comprehensive cleaning

The program clears hard disk space and Windows registry. Functionality is provided to control startup and remove previously installed software. Additional functionality is located in the “Service” menu.

CCleaner finds more installed applications than the standard Windows 7 uninstaller. And after uninstallation, it “cleans up” residual files and registry entries. To remove a program:

    1. Launch CCleaner.
    2. On the left, select “Service”.
    3. Find the “Uninstall programs” sub-item.
    4. From the list, select the program to remove and click “Uninstall”. The “Delete” button is required to remove the name of the utility only from the list - it will not be possible to uninstall the application from the PC.

    To disable/enable startup programs:

    1. Information about programs that start automatically with Windows will open.
    2. Select the program for which you want to disable startup and click “Turn off.”

CCleaner allows you to manage startup not only for Windows, but also for browser add-ons.

    IObit Uninstaller

IObit Uninstaller is the simplest program uninstaller with a registry cleaning function. The utility offers the user a list of applications to uninstall. It is divided into categories, which you can switch between in the left menu. IObit Uninstaller works in two modes - standard and forced removal.

To uninstall the utility from IObit to standard mode:

    1. Select it from the list.
    2. Click "Delete" at the bottom of the window.
    3. The program will create a restore point, remove unnecessary applications, and then scan the system and registry for residual files and entries.
    4. After scanning, you will see a list of found components and can remove them permanently.

How to uninstall a program in forced mode (required when files are protected from deletion):

    1. Select an application that cannot be uninstalled in standard mode and click Forced Uninstall.
    2. Confirm uninstallation.

Forced uninstall mode can be used for any files. But be careful! After deleting a file, the program will check the folder in which it was located and clear it of other files.

    Revo Uninstaller

Revo Uninstaller- a program that allows you to erase software from your computer without leaving any residue. To uninstall the application:

    1. Enable Revo Uninstaller.
    2. Highlight unnecessary program and click on the "Delete" icon.
    3. In the action confirmation window, select “Yes”.
