Every person needs access to the Internet for work, study or for their personal needs. The mobile phone does not always pick up the Internet. Not everyone knows how to boost the 3G signal of a smartphone.

In cities where there are a large number of operators cellular communication, as a matter of priority, there should be no “dead zones” for the Internet. In reality, everything is different: a person, moving around the area, periodically falls into them. This is due to architecture, the building material from which houses are built, and metal structures. The reasons for poor internet include the presence of a lot of industrial interference.

To protect your smartphone from mechanical damage, they sell different cases. If there are metal inserts inside the protection, this affects the quality of the received 3g and 4g signal.

When the user travels outside the city, a 3g signal booster will be required for the smartphone, where the Internet speed is sharp or absent.

Almost all people use 3g or 4g internet, which is offered by mobile operators. It provides access to networks anywhere, unlike wi-fi networks. But due to overloaded communication lines, the Internet speed drops to the 2g level. Even if the phone is on a tariff with a good speed of 3g or 4g, it guarantees that the speed will not slow down.

Two solutions will help improve smartphone reception - software and using devices purchased or made independently. Each method has its advantages. With an integrated approach to increasing the speed of your Internet connection, the user will achieve the fastest possible signal.

Software settings

Sometimes people are dissatisfied with the speed of the Internet on their mobile phone. Everyone knows that the speed and quality of the Internet connection depend on the operator, the chosen tariff and the coverage area. But not everyone knows that you can boost the signal on your smartphone using the InternetSpeedMaster application. The program optimizes the phone's performance by changing system files. It’s easy to boost the antenna on your smartphone using the app, but you need to have root rights, if the phone is rooted, the installation will take 2 minutes.

Setting up a program to boost 3g and 4g

How to configure the InternetSpeedMaster program to boost 3g and 4g signals:

  1. log into the application and grant superuser rights;
  2. if the device is rooted, enter ApplyPatch and reboot. The Internet signal booster on your smartphone will work;
  3. if the user does not have superuser rights, enter ImproveInternetConnection, then reboot the device.

This method does not work on all devices, so it is recommended to first get root rights to be sure to increase the 3G signal on your smartphone.

If the user wants to return the old settings, it is recommended to enter the menu, click “Restore”, confirm your actions by selecting the “OK” button.

Hardware improvement

You can strengthen the cellular signal on your smartphone by purchasing additional devices in specialized stores - a repeater and various types antennas Such devices significantly enhance the signal coming from the operator. In this situation, no manipulations with the device files are required.

All devices connected to the 3g or 4g Internet within the antenna coverage area increase download speed. To strengthen the 3G signal for a smartphone with your own hands in a country house or in an apartment, you need to take steps that will allow the operator’s signal to reach as quickly as possible.

Dense urban development, terrain, power lines and distance from transmission towers greatly affect the quality of signal reception, which can disappear at the most inopportune moment.

And today I want to talk about several ways to strengthen cellular communication on your phone with your own hands and how much they really help. But before you perform any actions with your device, you need to make sure that it is working properly.

After all, poor reception may be the result of a faulty radio module, unreliable contact with the internal antenna, or a broken firmware.

Making sure that your smartphone is working is very simple. It is enough to compare its reception level with another one that is obviously working, not necessarily of the same model.

If it is very different, then most likely the mobile phone is faulty and it needs a direct trip to a repair shop. But there is no need to rush. I had a similar situation with Lenovo 316i, when the level bars on the display constantly disappeared, while other mobile phones worked fine. For some reason I was guilty of buggy software.

And, of course, I tried to reflash it, but the result did not change. Having studied a considerable number of forums, I was inclined to conclude that the reason for poor reception may be poor contact at the junction of the antenna and motherboard.

This is a common disease of Chinese gadgets. Next step The thing I decided to do was disassemble it.

And in fact, upon opening the case, I discovered that the middle spring tongue on the board was slightly bent down and did not contact the antenna, which was a flexible cable glued to the cover.

Armed with tweezers, I bent it up a little, screwed everything back, put the SIM cards and battery in place and pressed the power button. After the system booted, all four bars appeared in the status line and this time they did not disappear.

Thus, having the skills and certain knowledge, I myself managed to repair my mobile phone. But let's now talk about methods by which you can significantly improve the quality of communication.

Software method for boosting cellular signal

This time we won’t disassemble anything, but will install a special MTK Engineering Mode application on Android, with which we will enter engineering menu and change some parameters there. It is free and you can download it from the Play Market. Please note that it is only suitable for devices running on the MediaTek processor. You can find out which processor you have using the CPU-Z program, which you can download, again, from the Play Market. So, click on the program shortcut and immediately find yourself in such a menu.

Go to the MTK Settings tab

As a result, we will see on the display this window with settings, where we uncheck all the boxes. We leave only

  • EGSM900;
  • DCS1800;
  • WCDMA-GSM-900.

Thus, we turn off unnecessary frequencies that are not used in our country.

We perform the same operation with SIM2.

Then go to “Select a network” where we select the GSM only item. This is the 2G communication standard, which originally appeared during the construction of telecommunication networks.

It has wide coverage across the country and handles voice calls very well. Select this tab if you do not use 3G Internet.

After these manipulations, your handset will work longer by disabling scanning of unnecessary frequencies and keep the radio signal more stable, since it will not jump between WCDMA and GSM standards.

Connecting a homemade antenna

Previously, cell phones had an external radio antenna or a connector under a plug located on the back of the case, into which any piece of wire could be plugged, which significantly enhanced reception.

Now everyone modern smartphones, to which, except for charging and headphones, you can’t connect anything else. But, if you take it apart, then inside, on the board, you can see a small golden cylindrical connector with a hole in the middle.

It is intended for network diagnostics and is used only in service centers. But, if you insert a small piece (no more than 5 cm) of thin insulated wire into it, you can observe a noticeable increase in the signal level.

Only in this case it is necessary to comply with some conditions. The wiring should not bend anywhere or touch live parts. You can carefully lay it inside the case, between battery and a lid.

Again, this method is not suitable for everyone, since most devices are non-separable or do not have such a connector.

Repeater installation

This option is ideal for use in a country house or village, where, as a rule, the quality of communication is poor due to the remoteness of the towers.

Its operating principle is to capture electromagnetic waves, pre-amplify them and transmit them to the user’s phone. The system consists of a repeater unit, external and internal antennas. The disadvantage of this equipment is the expensive price of the device, the complexity of installation, configuration and a short range. But you can try to build a homemade installation yourself to amplify the signal.

To do this, we need a metal rod about 50 cm long, a coaxial cable, a piece of foil measuring approximately 100 by 40 mm, glued to plastic or plywood. It will be better if you have foil-coated textolite.

So, we bend our rod in the shape of a diamond and solder a cable to it, the other end of which is soldered to the foil.

Example of connecting a cable to a rod

We install our diamond on the roof of the house or on a pole, preferably higher.

Now let's check the amplifier. To do this, we place the phone close to the plywood and notice how much the signal quality has improved.

sticker sticker

Often on sale you can find a universal compact antenna amplifier, which is a thin self-adhesive plate with a special geometric pattern of metal tracks, which, according to the manufacturer, reduces the amount of interference and allows you to significantly strengthen the signal where there is practically no cellular communication.

The sticker is glued to the inside of the phone, under the battery. But in my opinion, there is no point in buying it. You can just as easily put a piece of foil under the battery and the effect will be the same.

Now, with the help of such simple manipulations, you can use your own hands, using inexpensive materials, to strengthen the weak cellular signal on your phone.

Network coverage mobile operators not continuous. And no one will make it continuous - it is economically unprofitable. A certain contribution to this is made by the peculiarities of the propagation of radio waves, which is why zones of radio silence may arise at certain points. Poor cellular signal reception - this problem is relevant for many people, especially for those who live outside the city, far from the nearest base stations. Let's try to solve this problem together.

There are thousands of complaints about cellular operators on the Internet - people complain that they have problems with communication. Unfortunately, no one will make sure that the signal is received everywhere and with the same strength. This is impossible due to economic reasons, it is impossible due to some physical reasons. Russian operators generally work well, and their coverage area is decent - this is confirmed by evaluative comparisons with European operators. You're just a little unlucky with the location.

If you complain about the poor signal level of MTS in your area, nothing prevents you from interviewing your neighbors and finding out which operator they use. It is quite possible that Beeline or MegaFon will work much better for you, delighting you with stable reception. Even Tele2, which is not always distinguished by a wide coverage area, has significantly increased the coverage of its networks in recent years - you can try.

Transferring a number to another operator

You can object - they say, I don’t want to change the operator, even if the signal from another operator is picked up many times better. This is called “to spite my neighbor I will freeze my ears.” Don’t change if you don’t want to – sit in the wilderness and rejoice in the lack of communication. For others, we can offer a reasonable solution - if in your area MTS is not detected, but Beeline is caught, go to the Beeline office and write an application to port the number.

Advantages of this approach:

  • In just 8-9 days your mobile phone will be working - it will be serviced in the network of another operator, and you will forget what poor network coverage is.
  • You can choose a more profitable tariff plan.
  • You will remain with your number - there is no need to change it at all.

This is the best way to deal with poor cellular signal reception, but it will require preliminary research - you need to decide which operator works best in your area.

Buying another phone

This is not to say that this is the most optimal way to solve the problem of poor signal reception. All modern tubes have approximately the same sensitivity. Therefore, buying another smartphone may result in unnecessary expenses. And the talk of Apple fans that iPhones “catch anywhere” is nothing more than a myth.

Finding a phone with high sensitivity for poor reception conditions is problematic. A few years ago they existed, but then they disappeared somewhere. People living in remote areas are advised to look for old Cell phones Nokia and Motorola - they were distinguished by increased sensitivity.

  • DEXP Larus X2 rev.2.
  • BQ Rome BQD-2051.
  • Termit FixPhone v2.

Their cost does not exceed 3,000 rubles, and antennas protruding from the housings will provide increased sensitivity.

The most difficult problem to solve is the reception of 3G and 4G signals, since only modern phones work with them.

Using external antennas

Improve quality voice communication External antennas will help increase the speed of your mobile Internet. They connect to phones equipped with appropriate sockets. Unfortunately, a very limited number of models are equipped with them. Let's see which handsets we can connect external antennas to to improve cellular network signal reception:

  • Huawei ETS5623 is a landline cell phone complete with a remote antenna and a 10-meter roll of cable. Cost - about 4 thousand rubles. An excellent solution for poor cellular signal reception.
  • Runbo H1 is a very expensive smartphone costing almost 60 thousand rubles, made in a shock-resistant and waterproof case. It is equipped with a connector for an external antenna.
  • Kit MT3020B is another stationary device, equipped with a socket for an external antenna, which is supplied in the kit. The cost of the phone is about 5.5 thousand rubles.

We also recommend paying attention to the handsets of the last decade - they were often equipped with connectors for antennas (including those hidden under back cover) for working in conditions of poor cellular signal reception.

Cellular communications are needed not only for voice transmission, but also for access to the mobile Internet. And if we cannot find a smartphone with a connector for an external antenna, then there are plenty of 3G and 4G modems with them. Literally every second modem can be connected to an antenna, which will significantly improve the quality of reception.

Passive repeaters

The use of passive repeaters allows you to improve cellular signal reception without expensive electronics. Most often these are homemade devices, consisting of a bunch of two small antennas. Beer cans, copper wire, and some other unimaginable household products are also used in the designs. All this is not serious, and it also limits freedom of movement around the house - you have to talk on the phone while directly next to such a repeater.

There is one more interesting thing technical solution. If your smartphone does not have an antenna jack, you can do the following:

  • Buy one directional GSM antenna and one GSM whip antenna.
  • Install a directional antenna on the roof of the house, on a tree or pole up to 10 meters high (the larger the better).
  • Install a whip antenna in your home.
  • Connect both antennas with a cable.

A mobile phone is an integral attribute of the life of a modern person. It allows you to communicate, quickly receive information and conduct business negotiations. You can expand your cellular communication capabilities thanks to access to the World Wide Web provided by the operator. Internet access is also provided by a 3G modem that allows you to connect a laptop.

However, a weak signal makes the benefits of civilization inaccessible. To independently strengthen a cellular signal, you will need to determine the cause of the deterioration in communication and choose the best way to improve the quality of reception.

Causes of network failures

\n

The main reason for the weakening of the cellular signal is the problem of poor coverage due to the remoteness of relay towers. Most often, residents of cottage settlements and villages located far from large cities encounter it. settlements. Low population density reduces the cost-effectiveness of installing new repeaters, resulting in areas where reception is unstable or completely absent.

Among other reasons for deterioration mobile communications highlight:

    \n
  • Presence of interference.They arise due to terrain, high-voltage power lines, large forest plantations and similar obstacles. Causes of interference inside the house - microwaves and other equipment operating in the microwave range.
  • \n
  • Nuances of design and location of buildings.Strengthening the cellular signal will be required in cases where the country house was built in a lowland and the telephone is located below ground level. The penetration of radio signals is hampered by thick walls with a dense structure and the finishing of facades with sheet metal materials.
  • \n
\n

Sometimes difficulties with the phone appear due to the settings of the base station. In this case, you will need to contact the operator, who will reconfigure and fix the problems that have arisen.

Phone problems

\n

Reason weak signal or its absence may cause damage to the mobile phone. These include:

    \n
  • malfunction of software;
  • \n
  • deformation of the body and parts of the phone resulting from falling products or moisture;
  • \n
  • antenna defects that often occur in inexpensive smartphones.
  • \n
\n

In addition, reception is significantly degraded due to the metal case or case. To strengthen the signal on your phone, you need to troubleshoot it yourself or with the help of specialists in this field.

The simplest option is the absence of a radio signal if the antenna and the smartphone’s motherboard are not tightly connected. To troubleshoot you will need:

    \n
  • disassemble the communication device using the instructions;
  • \n
  • check the tightness of the contacts to the cable located on the back side of the structure;
  • \n
  • straighten the spring contacts using tweezers.
  • \n
\n

However, such manipulations may void the warranty, so if problems arise with your smartphone, it is better to contact customer service.

Improving reception using “folk methods”

\n

For reliable reception at your dacha or in a country cottage, you can try making a cellular amplifier yourself. He will raise specifications antennas and improve retransmission. Depending on the model and brand of the phone, the functions of the antenna amplifier are:

    \n
  • a small piece of insulated wire that is placed in the diagnostic port;
  • \n
  • a special sticker representing a sticker in the form of several metal tracks;
  • \n
  • a small piece of foil that needs to be placed close to the antenna.
  • \n
\n

Greater effect can be achieved by improving the modem signal. To do this, remove the housing from it, and then wind 4-5 turns of thin copper wire around the standard antenna of the device. Its second end is connected to an improvised antenna made from an aluminum can with a cut off top, spread out in the shape of a “daisy”.

Purpose of the repeater and its installation

\n

However homemade antennas and repeaters can only improve reception slightly. To ensure a reliable signal at a dacha or in a private house in the village, it is necessary to install a factory-made antenna and repeater.

How to install a cell phone booster yourself? First you need to purchase a set of equipment, which includes:

    \n
  • GSM repeater that amplifies the signal. Repeater models differ in gain and frequency ranges.
  • \n
  • External antenna. It is used to receive and transmit radio signals to the repeater and in the opposite direction.
  • \n
  • Internal GSM antenna that ensures reception by subscriber devices.
  • \n
  • Cable connecting all elements;
  • \n
  • A power divider, which is required when connecting several internal antennas to a repeater with your own hands.
  • \n
\n

To install a cellular amplifier yourself, you will need to find the optimal location for the outdoor GSM antenna. A suitable place for this is maximum power reception and the absence of various barriers. You can achieve the greatest effect if you install an outdoor antenna on a mast or a special bracket. The higher its location above the house, the more confident the reception will be. In this case, the antenna must be located below the lightning rod, since the set of equipment for improving radio signal reception usually does not have galvanic isolation.

Then you do the following step by step:

    \n
  • Install a device to amplify the radio signal. Installing the repeater yourself does not require any special skills: it is fixed to the wall using self-tapping screws.
  • \n
  • Install the internal antenna so that the distance to the GSM receiving antenna is at least 10 m. The gap can be reduced if it is possible to separate the GSM antennas with a concrete wall.
  • \n
  • Connect the cable connected to the outdoor antenna to the remaining elements of the amplifying equipment.
  • \n
  • Check the correct installation and connection of the antennas with the GSM signal amplifier, and then turn on the power.
  • \n
\n

Usually the repeater is ready for use. However, some models are equipped with displays and switches for fine tuning reception power and frequency. If you are planning to install a cellular amplifier yourself, it is better to avoid such equipment. You can install it yourself, but further manipulations require special skills and knowledge.

Mobile communications are an integral part of our lives, leaving us far behind. Thanks to it, we can always be in touch, and at the same time have access to the Internet. However, there are situations when network coverage is not good enough, which in turn negatively affects the quality of voice calls and mobile Internet speed. This problem updated the mass introduction of 4G, the signal of which is not good in all places.

If you have poor quality cellular signal coverage at home or in your country house, then it is quite possible to solve this problem, although this will require money and time.

Feasibility of the process

Before purchasing equipment and installing it, contact the operator.

If the signal quality is poor mobile network, call the operator and report this problem. If your neighbors also encounter this, then let them contact the operator. The more applications, the greater the chance that your problem will be solved by specialists mobile operator for their corporate funds.

For its part, the operator can solve the coverage problem in two ways: installing a new base station or installing additional modules on an existing one.

In the case when the operator, for certain reasons, cannot solve the problem with the coverage, this must be resolved on its own. Before you do this, you need to calculate everything.

If the coverage of your mobile operator is of poor quality, then maybe you should give preference to another? Today, fortunately, there is a sufficient choice of mobile operators. When this option is not suitable, and you urgently need to organize high-quality and reliable coverage - let's get down to action!

Equipment and scope of work

You probably know that cellular communications are divided into 3 types (generations): GSM (2G), 3G and 4G. Each of them operates in a certain frequency range. Depending on the required amplification, the type of network will need to select equipment.

It is impossible to amplify the signal of several generations of networks at once with one set of equipment. To amplify the signal, each generation of the network needs its own separate set of equipment.

However, in most cases, only one generation of the network is needed to strengthen the signal, but which one? Everything is complicated by the fact that each of them has its own advantages, but, nevertheless, let's try to come to a common denominator.

Net

First, study the network coverage around you. If you receive a signal from a base station with 3G or 4G, then it is best to focus on this generation, since it is the latest and also allows access to high-speed mobile Internet. The main thing is that all devices support this type communications.

Tasks

The generation of the network must also be selected from the assigned tasks. If you need reliable coverage for making voice calls, but do not need the Internet, then focus on GSM network- it's simple and practical.

Subscriber device support

The only caveat is that everyone must have devices that support the selected type of network. If GSM is supported by absolutely all mobile phones and smartphones, then third and fourth generation networks are not all. In other words, if you want to implement a 4G network, all household members will need to purchase devices with appropriate network support, which are by no means cheap.

In a word - it's up to you. It is better to choose a 4G network, as it provides high-quality communications and high-speed Internet access. When the planets “align” and your whole family has devices with 3G support, then by the will of fate you should choose this network. If you don't bother with all this, take GSM.

What equipment is needed:

  • External antenna (sent to the base station to receive the signal);

  • Repeater (a device that amplifies the signal and transmits it to the internal antenna);

  • Internal antenna (provides signal propagation indoors);

  • Cable 5D/FB (cable for connecting an external antenna to the repeater);

  • Connector N111/5D (plug for cable connection).

Regardless of the type of network, the equipment set has the same components. This kit is suitable for an apartment and a small private house, such as a summer house. In such cases, one repeater will be enough to distribute the signal throughout the room. If you need to boost the signal on several floors or over a large area of the room, you will need more repeaters.

Be sure to find out at what frequencies the network you have chosen operates, this is necessary in order to choose the right equipment. Also ask your operator where the nearest base station or define it using special mobile programs. In general, the antenna is installed where there is the best network signal on the phone.

If you do not have certain skills and knowledge in this matter, then it is better to entrust the selection and installation to professionals.

Installation

First you need to strengthen the antenna, depending on its type and installation will be carried out. Fastening is done using anchors.

As mentioned earlier, you need to find the side that will have the best signal. It is in that direction that the antenna will be directed. You can mount the antenna on a wall or. In addition, if necessary, you can even build a metal tower on which the antenna will be mounted - this good decision for country and cottage villages.

The next stage of installation is cable laying. To do this, make a hole in the wall and connect the cable to the external antenna. We lay the inner part of the cable indoors to the location of the repeater. To attach lugs to the ends of the cable, it is better to use the services of a specialist in the store.

Then we proceed to installing the repeater. It is attached to the wall using dowel nails, but if it simple antenna then it is placed on the shelf. Next, the internal and external antenna. After this, we connect the repeater to the power supply, configure it, and are satisfied with high-quality network coverage.

When choosing an installation location, before starting all work, draw up an equipment installation diagram. There must be a separate outlet near the repeater, and take this into account when drawing up the circuit. The repeater should be located in the center of the area where the signal needs to be improved.

This video will help you visually familiarize yourself with the installation procedure and equipment for signal amplification:
