Modern push-button smartphones: not just a sensor

The bad desire of manufacturers to abandon physical buttons on smartphones has led to this not entirely healthy competition: who will have “even” fewer buttons, and who will place them in the most inconvenient place. Ends on all sides, back cover (for Power buttons) - only Apple and Samsung are true to the presence of at least one hardware control button (not counting the power key and volume rocker, which almost no one has abandoned so far).

Exactly, almost: a smartphone was recently announced with the slightly indecent-sounding name Manta 7X, which has no buttons at all. The notorious power buttons and volume rockers have been replaced with mini-touch screens.

On the other hand, in Chinese stores you can find smartphones with QWERTY keyboards, but they will be, to put it mildly, “not very good”: the nameless Chinese phone cannot boast of build quality, coupled with the software component, or support - they usually have it at zero.

Samsung super clamshells

Samsung SM-W2015, G9098, G9198... Samsung is better known in our country for various flagships of the Galaxy S series, as well as the ancestor of “shovels” Galaxy Note. But the company also actively produces clamshell smartphones, and for some reason only for the Asian markets, mainly Chinese and Japanese.

And there are actually a lot of them. It is not clear why the Chinese brothers received such interesting preferences, since the recently announced G9198 model, for example, is also the flagship of the Korean company. This clamshell has two AMOLED screens with a resolution of 1280×768 pixels with protective Gorilla glass Glass 4, 2 GB of RAM and 16 permanent memory, and the processor is an impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 808. Of course, there are the good old digital buttons for dialing numerical data and SMS via T9 and the like, all possible wireless interfaces, LTE - in general, it’s the same flagship S6, only in a different form factor.

And the Samsung G9098 model is not much worse, to say the least. It has a Snapdragon 800, two 3.67-inch Super AMOLED touch screens with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, 2 GB random access memory, but the number buttons are different, as is the overall design. But this model is sold only in Asia, unfortunately.

Blackberry Passport

The smartphone from the half-dead Canadian manufacturer RIM (BlackBerry), which often appears in our latest articles, has found its place here. Let us remember that we are talking about a smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard on the Blackberry 13 OS with various tasty goodies (for example, launching Android applications), including an innovative touch panel (hidden under the keyboard), which in its dimensions completely corresponds to a regular passport.

The features of the device follow from this: a square display, the ability to adapt all possible applications (and a new version The OS can port what only Android could do, making hundreds of thousands of apps theoretically available in Passport. Therefore, the title “not like everyone else” suits him completely.

The resolution of the display, despite this, is very good: 1440x1440 pixels with a density of 453 ppi, and users praise the thoughtfulness of the system and its convenience, while talking about the lack of these qualities in smartphones on Android based.

True, the only negative in this barrel of honey is the price of 32 thousand rubles on the Russian market.

BQ Berkeley

A little-known Hong Kong brand BQ (Bright&Quick) introduced a budget QWERTY smartphone to the Russian market a few months ago at a price of 4 thousand rubles. The name of a world-famous American university is one of the company’s features. True, it was written with several errors, but who cares.

In some ways it is similar to the classic BlackBerry, but at a disproportionately low price and Android 4.2.2 OS as a base. The configuration here is absolutely budget-friendly: dual-core MediaTek with half a gigabyte of RAM, no 4G, rear (!) two-megapixel camera…. Should I continue?

It is clear that this QWERTY background is aimed at those who need the bare minimum from a smartphone: SMS, calls, simple applications, chats, social networks. But it has one significant drawback: unlike “gray” phones from the West and East, where there is only an English-language keyboard, here everything is the other way around, and only Russian letters are printed on the keys. Therefore, entering passwords/logins and other program elements will be impossible (unless you know exactly where which key is): you will have to use a small 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480x320 pixels and only a two-point multi-touch.

On the other hand, according to reviews, the keyboard is very easy to use: nothing supernatural, just the same as it was in QWERTY smartphones many years ago.

LG Wine Smart 2

But Samsung is not the only one that is strong with its flip phones: their arch-competitor in the Korean and global markets, LG, also offers a similar product.

Similar, but not quite: LG is betting not only on South Korea, but also on Europe, so the phone will officially be delivered to many EU countries and even Kazakhstan.

This is already the second folding smartphone in the Wine Smart series from LG, and it looks very similar to the first (which was intended only for Korea): even the buttons, unlike competitors from Samsung, are made convex, like in old phones.

What can he boast of? Not very many: the smartphone from Wine Smart 2 turned out to be much less powerful than that of Samsung, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (4 cores at 1.1 GHz) works as a “fiery engine”, the screen offers a very modest 3.2 inches (with a resolution of 480x320 points), the rear camera is only 3 MP (and VGA front). RAM 1 GB, 4 GB file memory, battery 1700 mAh. Like the first Wine Smart, this model uses Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as its OS.

Sonim XP6

The Sonim brand is well known even to those who have not been following market innovations for a long time: for many years this company has been producing gadgets protected to the maximum IP standard classes for the most severe operating conditions.

New for 2015 is the XP6 model, a smartphone that looks more like regular phone with very big screen, although by smartphone standards the screen is tiny: 2.6” with a resolution of 320x432 pixels.

Of course, it is protected to the maximum - the IP69 standard covers most of the most severe operating conditions, from diving to conquering Everest. However, it cannot be said that it has any particularly powerful configuration: Qualcomm MSM8926 and only 1 GB of RAM (+8 permanent).

But it has a lot of features that are not easy to find in “regular” smartphones: an impressive 4800 mAh battery, the ability to work in walkie-talkie mode, over 1000 hours of standby time, three programmable keys in addition to the usual ones, a connector for magnetic charging, a speaker as much as 103 dB...

But the price, of course, is rather high: on the official website the model is sold for 56 thousand rubles, which, however, is fully justified by the supposed indestructibility and durability of the device.

Simtelep N9

This is one of those Chinese smartphones that are a candy bar smartphone with physical buttons “like on a phone” at a very affordable price of 80 US dollars: for this price the device can be bought in Chinese stores, and Russian ones sell it today for about 8 thousand. rubles Of course, these are not “official representative offices”.

As a smartphone, Simtelep N9 is quite simple: it has a dual-core MTK6572 platform, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of file memory (plus a MicroSD slot), a display with a resolution of 480x320 pixels and a fairly impressive 4000 mAh battery, which allows it to work, according to the manufacturer, more than 6 days standby time.

Otherwise it's quite simple and cheap smartphone, whose main problem is precisely the keyboard: in order to make the buttons work under Android, you will have to use third-party software, which is not even guaranteed to work. In addition, there are no Russian letters on the keyboard, which can also be a problem for many.

You can find plenty of similar smartphones in Chinese stores, but they will all have approximately the same disadvantages listed in the previous paragraph. Therefore, if you are not ready for shamanic dances with a tambourine, pay attention to other smartphones with buttons. Most likely, among them you will find what you are looking for.

Good day to all!

I started getting acquainted with DEXP MQ 3.5 on December 30, 2014, so we have been friends since last year and have learned enough about each other, including all the advantages and disadvantages. Besides, we've been through it together New Year, and that already means something.

Main distinctive feature of this smartphone- This is a physical QWERTY keyboard. Many may question the existence of such a solution, but let’s not draw conclusions ahead of time, but try to figure out whether this is so. In addition, the smartphone has a 3.5" display and is based on Android OS. Well, another important indicator is the price, which this moment is some 3290 rubles.

Package

Everything is strict and harmonious. A black small flat box, which is typical for most devices from DEXP.

Equipment

The package does not boast any special features. Standard USB cable, Charger, warranty card and user manual.

Appearance

Personally, I really liked the device. Lightweight, moderately compact, quite strict. And even the QWERTY keyboard fits harmoniously on the body of the device.

The material from which the smartphone is made is, of course, plastic, which is standard solution for budget models. No gaps or complaints regarding the assembly were found.

It fits perfectly in the hand. Although it may seem a little small for large hands.

In general, at this price, DEXP MQ 3.5 can be an excellent gift, both for yourself and for family or friends.

Connectors and controls

1. The manufacturer left the right end absolutely smooth, without any buttons or connectors.

2. On the left side we have the power and volume buttons.

3. At the bottom there is a micro USB connector, 2 speakers and a microphone.

4. On top there is only a 3.5 mm audio output.

5. On the back panel we see the camera and flash.

6. The front side is the most interesting, where we have a front camera, a speaker and, of course, a QWERTY keyboard.

Let's look at the keyboard in a little more detail. Here, in addition to a set of letters, we can enter additional characters programmed on the buttons by clicking on the arrow with a square. In addition, there is a button similar to Shift, which allows you to enter capital letters. To change the language, you will have to hold down our Shift + Spacebar. While on the home screen or in the application menu, if you start pressing the hardware buttons, text is immediately entered to search in the browser. Or, if these buttons are digits, the dialing screen appears.

Surprisingly, even my Dyusha became interested in this smartphone and its QWERTY keyboard. So you can get used to typing on it with almost any hand (or paw) size)))).

Screen

Before us budget model, hence the screen characteristics are very simple. This is a 3.5 inch TFT display with a resolution of 320x480 and 262 thousand colors. Of course, the resolution is not enough, and I would like more colors, but for this class of device, it’s quite tolerable. For normal use and even for some games it is quite enough.

Viewing angles when tilted left and right are quite good.

But when tilting up and down it is much worse.

I would also like to note that when typing on this smartphone, the entire screen is at our disposal, because The keyboard is already located in the hardware part, so 3.5 inches is enough for him.

As for the response to touches and Multitouch, the response is quite fast and responsive, but the test on Multitouch showed the possibility of only 2 simultaneous touches.

Camera

The camera in this device seems to be just there to be. With its 2MP, you can, for example, take a photo for a call image. Although, if you use your imagination, you can probably find some other worthy use for it. But let's first look at the result.

As usual, we have some tweaks to make. However, little depends on them.

This is how the photos turn out.

And this is what comes out in poor lighting.

And this is what happens when shooting a panorama.

In general, the quality depends very much on the lighting. But even under ideal conditions there remains a fair amount of “noise”.

The video can only be shot stationary and in good lighting, otherwise it will turn out like mine. And it would be nice to remember to unfold the phone.

The front camera has only 0.3 megapixels, but somehow copes with its functions.

Software

The smartphone works under Android control 4.2.2, which adds a nice plus to it. The system performance was up to par, no glitches or freezes were noticed. Before us is an almost clean system with a small list of pre-installed applications, these are Navitel, 2Gis, Dr.Web. Otherwise, almost everything is standard.

This is how everyone’s already favorite “curtain” is implemented, divided into notifications and quick switches for the main settings.

When typing a message or any other text field, by default, there is no software keyboard in order to enjoy all the delights of the hardware one. However, you can change this in the settings and also call up the software keyboard at any time. But when dialing a number, large numbers appear so as not to have to worry about typing their smaller counterparts on the keyboard.

Productivity

This smartphone has dual core MediaTek processor MT6572M with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. The amount of RAM is 512 MB. For daily tasks like calling, writing SMS, and even browsing the web or some applications, this is quite enough. The phone copes with most of these tasks without any brakes, even when they are started at the same time. In terms of testing, AnTuTu rated our DEXP at 10,472 points.

Compared to other models, this test looks something like this.

Well, the rest of the AnTuTu testing indicators.

Numbers and indicators are, of course, good, but what about games? For testing, 3 popular, but not the most powerful toys were installed. And DEXP MQ 3.5 coped with them without problems.

In general, the productivity of the device is quite at the level. He copes with his tasks.

Communications and sound

Wi-fi and bluetooth in this smartphone do their job perfectly, without any complaints. We also have GPS with A-GPS support. There are no complaints about him either. My location was found almost instantly.

But as for the sound, I would like it a little more. Even at maximum volume, with incoming call, the volume seems to be not enough. But during a conversation, audibility is excellent, both in one direction and in the other.

Working with two SIM cards

The smartphone has 2 slots for SIM cards. One of them standard size, the other is for microSIM. The operating mode is alternating, i.e. at the moment of conversation on one SIM card, the second one becomes inaccessible. Both SIM cards are available in standby mode.

Also, you can set the default SIM card for calls, SMS, video calls and the Internet, or each time choose which SIM card you want to perform an action on.

Battery

The device has a 1400mAh Li-ion battery. And my first thought was: “What was the manufacturer thinking when he made such a decision? After all, with such a battery, a smartphone cannot survive a day!” However, what was my surprise when, with fairly gentle use, the device lasted me almost four days. Of course, in fact, it just sat with me for about a day, and for the remaining 2 days it was used extremely inactively, but still.

When testing medium-power games, such as those considered for productivity, the phone loses an average of 5% per 10 minutes, which means it should be enough for almost 3.5 hours of continuous gaming. While viewing Play Store the battery was consumed at a rate of 3% in 10 minutes, that is, 5.5 hours continuous operation. In general, it turns out that everything is not so bad. It's quite possible to live.

conclusions

Well what can I say? During our acquaintance, I became very attached to this smartphone, and it really proved itself to be the best. And you can close your eyes to all its modest shortcomings, knowing how much it costs. The other question, of course, is whether it's right for YOU. My Dyusha, for example, completely refused to return it.

But let's be more constructive.

Pros:

1. Availability of a hardware keyboard.

2. Supports two SIM cards of different sizes.

3. Compact and lightweight.

4. Fairly good performance.

5. Availability of everything you need (3G, GPS, 2 cameras, flash).

Minuses:

1. Camera (leaves much to be desired).

2. Ring volume.

3. I would still like a larger battery.

Unfortunately, every year there are fewer and fewer phones with QWERTY keyboards. For now this type phones has been almost completely replaced by touch screen phones. But there are still users who are ready to buy such gadgets. If you are one of them, then this article will be useful to you. Here we look at a number of phones with QWERTY keyboards that can still be found on sale.

Nokia Asha 205 – very budget phone with QWERTY keyboard. For now this model costs less than 3000 rubles.

This phone is built on the Series 40 platform and has very modest specifications. The device screen has a diagonal of 2.4 inches and a resolution of 320×240. The camera resolution is only 0.3 megapixels. The phone is equipped with 64 megabytes of built-in memory. You can expand the built-in memory using microSD memory cards. The battery has a capacity of 1020 mAh. According to the manufacturer, this should be enough for 11 hours of talk time or 600 hours of call standby.

The phone is equipped with a minimal set of multimedia functions. With it you can listen to music in MP3, AAC, WAV and WMA formats. There is also support for FM radio.

Nokia Asha 210 is a more advanced phone model with a QWERTY keyboard. Nokia phone Asha 210 has a 2.4-inch screen with a resolution of 320x240. The camera resolution is 2 megapixels.

Support for multimedia formats is quite wide. With Nokia Asha 210 you can watch videos in MP4, ASF, AVI, 3GP and M4V format. There is also support for MP3 audio and FM radio.

The built-in memory is only 32 megabytes, but there is a slot for installing microSD memory cards. Memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 gigabytes are supported.

The battery capacity is 1200 mAh, which should be enough for 12 hours of talk time or 40 hours of music listening.

Nokia Asha 302 is the most advanced QWERTY keyboard phone from Nokia that can still be found in stores. This phone is equipped with 2.4 inch screen with a resolution of 320x240. The camera resolution is 3.2 megapixels. There is support for 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The multimedia capabilities of this phone allow you to play video in MPEG4, WMV, 3GPP formats, as well as audio in MP3, AAC, WAV, WMA formats. In addition, the user can listen to FM radio.

Also worth noting is a processor with a frequency of 1 gigahertz and 128 megabytes of RAM. There is support for memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 gigabytes. The battery has a capacity of 1320 mAh, which allows you to use this phone up to 9 hours of talk time and up to 50 hours of music listening.

If you don't like Nokia products or you just want a more advanced phone model with a QWERTY keyboard, then you should pay attention to the BlackBerry Q10. One of the main features of this model is its operating system. The Q10 model runs the proprietary BlackBerry OS operating system, which is specially designed to work with a QWERTY keyboard.

The device screen has a diagonal of 3.1 inches and a resolution of 720x720. The camera resolution is 8 megapixels. The phone allows you to play video in MP4, WMV, H.263, H.264 formats, as well as audio in MP3, AAC and WMA formats. Among the unusual multimedia capabilities, we should note the HDMI output, with which you can display images on a TV or monitor.

The hardware platform used here is 2 nuclear processor with a clock frequency of 1.5 gigahertz, as well as 2 gigabytes of RAM. The amount of built-in memory is 16 gigabytes. In this case, the user can install a memory card with a capacity of up to 32 gigabytes. Battery capacity 2100 mAh.

It is difficult to buy a smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard in 2019. In fact, the production of such devices is carried out exclusively by the brand. The good news is that he makes them very high quality. Some of the models included in the best rating were released quite a long time ago, but even today they offer buyers good opportunities and are sold on various sites. Those users who are aimed at the most modern and relevant devices should immediately scroll through the list to the end - the last two gadgets were released in 2018 and nothing newer is on sale as of March 2019.

If you go to a store that sells electronics, you will definitely pay attention to one fact. The vast majority of modern phones do not have a numeric or QWERTY keyboard. All of them are faceless in appearance, since most of the front panel is occupied by a touch screen. Where did the buttons go? Why have smartphones with push-button keyboards become so rare? First smart devices it was impossible to imagine without a keyboard. For example, the 9210 Communicator was designed as a , with many physical buttons hidden inside it.

And a little later, Nokia N-Gage and Siemens SX1 were released. These are very different smartphones, but they both had a certain amount keys In the mid-2000s, PDAs and communicators with the number of buttons was reduced to a minimum began to appear on store shelves. They were controlled by clicking on different areas touch screen. But the real revolutionary in this area was Apple, which was the first to release touch smartphone, the controls of which are incredibly easy to master.

Interestingly, the first Android devices were smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard. In particular, the first commercial model was Dream, which had a retractable block with keys. Devices of this type have been produced for several years. But later, almost all manufacturers abandoned this form factor. There are several reasons for this:

  • Google recommends (but does not mandate) that you keep the number of physical keys to a minimum.
  • Smartphones with a keypad are often large and heavy.
  • Such devices are less reliable.
  • Touch control is actually simpler than button control.

BlackBerry Priv

  • Operating system: Android 5.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 (6 cores, 1.8 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 5.43 inches, 2560 x 1440 pixels

Price: from 22,990 rub.

In 2016, the blackberry company unexpectedly released a push-button smartphone on Android, forgetting about its own operating system. This worked to the benefit of BlackBerry Priv, since its customers can install a huge number of applications, while the Canadian operating system offers a very modest selection.

The characteristics of the device are all right. The smartphone has a good processor and sufficient RAM. All this allows you to run even very heavy programs and games. At the same time, the keyboard does not interfere at all, since it is implemented on a retractable principle - most of the time you simply do not see it. A slider with a QWERTY keyboard is not only convenient, but also original.

It should be noted that this is the last device from the Canadian brand, which was produced at the facilities of BlackBerry itself. Subsequently, the creation of smartphones under this brand was entrusted to trademark— TCL. BlackBerry Priv is only disappointing because of its high price and plastic case. But we can easily come to terms with the second drawback, because it provided the device with at least some reasonable weight (192 grams).

Advantages

  • High resolution AMOLED display.
  • 18-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture.
  • Convenient slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
  • LTE support.
  • Support Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac.
  • Long battery life.

Flaws

  • Old version Android.
  • Some people will find it heavy.
  • Very high cost.

BlackBerry Q10

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon S4 Plus (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory size: 2 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, AMOLED, 720 x 720 pixels

Price: from 12,990 rub.

This smartphone is made in a traditional form factor. Its main difference from most modern ones is the QWERTY keyboard present here. All buttons have a short but noticeable stroke, making text typed very quickly. It should also be noted that the build quality is high - usually a smartphone does not lose its presentation even after a year of use.

The screen of such a device cannot be large. But the Canadians managed to significantly increase the resolution, thanks to which many controls and various information can be placed on the display. There is an NFC chip in the model, but within the operating system installed here it is practically useless. It is noteworthy that the device’s screen was created using AMOLED technology. Organic LEDs significantly save energy, as a result of which the device has to be charged once every one and a half to two days. You can only find fault with the operating system, which can now safely be called outdated.

In 2019, the model will appeal to true fans of correspondence, which is much more convenient on it than on its touch-screen counterpart.

Advantages

  • No noticeable pixelation.
  • Reliable data encryption.
  • Not a bad 8 megapixel camera.
  • Classic QWERTY keyboard.
  • Not the shortest operating time.

Flaws

  • A limited operating system in many ways.
  • Weak filling.
  • High price.

BlackBerry Passport

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AA (4 cores, 2.2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, 1440 x 1440 pixels

Price: from 20,999 rub.

This is a symbol of its era. The latest device built on the BlackBerry OS operating system. Its creators decided to abandon the now traditional design, maximizing the width of the device. As a result, they managed to endow the smartphone not only with a fairly comfortable QWERTY keyboard, but also with a screen that actually became classic - until 2019, BlackBerry stuck to a 4.5-inch matrix. One can only regret that AMOLED technology had to be abandoned. Because of this, time battery life did not become higher (although the battery capacity has increased), and color rendition was not so good.

In fact, this is the best push-button smartphone based on BlackBerry OS. It contains good components, so the user does not experience any slowdowns, and all applications load almost instantly. The main camera, which has a 13-megapixel sensor and images, should also please. Well, support for LTE-A category four facilitates very fast data transfer. Finally will keep the perfect appearance for many years. It’s surprising that with all this, the device weighs no more than 196 grams.

Advantages

  • Work in LTE-A networks.
  • Good display resolution.
  • Decent components.
  • Housing made of metal and plastic.
  • The main camera is complemented by an optical stabilizer.
  • Not the highest price.

Flaws

  • Some buyers will find the weight too heavy.
  • The front camera is weak - 2 MP.

BlackBerry Porsche design P’9983

  • operating roomsystem: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory size: 2 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, 720 x 720 pixels

Price: from 44,500 rub.

Perhaps this is the most beautiful device with smartphone functions among those with a QWERTY keyboard. Although the device is far from new, it still has a large amount of memory. It is also impossible not to note the possibility of transmitting data via LTE networks, which sometimes even modern devices do not have.

The main camera is 8 megapixels. The resolution of the front camera was suddenly increased to 2 megapixels, which is quite unexpected for a Canadian company. Of course, such a camera cannot be used for shooting, but video communication with its help is quite possible. It’s hard to imagine the owner of a BlackBerry Porsche design P’9983 who wouldn’t have enough of this. And if so, a card slot will come to the rescue.

Advantages

  • Stylish metal body.
  • LTE support.
  • Large amount of memory.

Flaws

  • Not the longest operating time.
  • Outdated operating system.
  • Incredibly high cost.

BlackBerry KEYone

  • Operating system: Android 7.1
  • CPU: MSM8953 (8 cores, 2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display:

Price: from 21,500 rubles.

All of the above devices were released at a time when BlackBerry was an independent company. During the same period, the brand collaborated with TCL Mobile providing them with its own services. The product of cooperation between the two companies was DTEK smartphones - Alcatel clones, but with software from BlackBerry. In 2017, TCL Mobile finally bought BlackBerry and the KEYone model became its first product. What is noteworthy is that it was created even before the consolidation of assets, but appeared on sale after. Due to the lack of any current alternative (all of the above models are quite old) this device was a real gift to fans of smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard in 2017. There are few fans, but for their sake the devices continue to be released and the result is very interesting.

Visually, the device was a return to classic phones with a keyboard. At the same time, the device is slightly larger than the now familiar touch devices. It has an impressive thickness of 9.4 mm, a heavy weight of 180 grams and an extremely interesting combination of materials. The side edge is aluminum. The back cover is plastic with a velvety surface and texture. This whole combination feels pleasant in the hands, and the user immediately understands that he is holding a serious gadget. The manufacturer tried to make a noticeable device, so all the elements here are large - the camera, logo, control buttons. Everything is catchy, but not pretentious.

The model received a small display with sufficient resolution for its size. In terms of detail, it's good, but traditionally BlackBerry lacks brightness. Because of this, using the device in the sun is not very comfortable. The video is displayed more than well, despite the 3 to 2 ratio, but playing in landscape orientation is inconvenient. The reason here is that the keyboard is outweighed - holding the smartphone in this position for a long time is tiring.

The 3505 mAh battery provides 2 days of operation under medium loads. If you use the gadget more actively, it will still last a day. This is a very good indicator. Besides this, there is . The device received 3/32 GB of memory, the main drive is expandable up to 2 TB, a combination slot. The chipset is Snapdragon 625, not the most powerful, but it is quite enough for this smartphone. Cameras – 12 and 8 megapixels. They take good quality pictures and have all the modern features like facial enhancement and the like. Maximum video resolution is 4K. Of course, photography fans will not appreciate the device, but most users will like the result.

The KEYone smartphone offers all proprietary software related to the protection of user data - BB Hub, Password Keeper and others. In fact, it is impossible to steal information from a BlackBerry. For many people in the modern world, this is a powerful argument. It is worth mentioning that the model received all modern wired and wireless interfaces - Type-C, WI-Fi ac. Regarding the keyboard, not everything is simple either. First of all, you can assign a quick call to a particular function to each button. At the same time, they support long and short presses. There are all the usual combinations - ctrl+c, ctrl+v and others to simplify working with text. The manufacturer has not forgotten about continuous input - you can swipe over the required letters to form a word (analogue touch keyboard). The fingerprint scanner is hidden in the space button.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • By 2019 standards, the main drive is small, and the slot is combined.
  • Insufficient screen brightness.
  • Inconvenient to play in landscape orientation.

BlackBerry KEY 2

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: SDM660 (8 cores, up to 2.2 GHz)
  • Memory size: RAM and 64/128 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 35,000 rubles.

The Key 2 smartphone from BlackBerry has become the company's most powerful device. Compared to the KEYone, the device has changed visually and has also become more interesting in terms of hardware. In terms of materials, the manufacturer, as before, opted for 7000 series aluminum for the frame and unusual plastic with a rubberized surface for the back cover. Due to this, the phone turned out to be non-slippery, very comfortable in the hand and it is almost impossible to smear it. Interesting feature associated with the glass coating. The previous model used Gorilla Glass 4, in this case the 3rd generation was used. This is due to the fact that the device has small frames around the screen, which prevents it from being hit, and in addition, the weight has been shifted towards the keyboard. If the smartphone falls, it will hit the keyboard. At the same time, the 3rd generation of protective glass is more scratch-resistant. It turns out that it is almost impossible to break or scratch it - unless, of course, you do this purposefully with a direct blow. Another pleasant change is that the matrix has become brighter. The indicator is 550 nits, which is quite enough even in bright light. The company took into account the mistakes of past years and finally corrected the situation. The fingerprint scanner, as before, is hidden in the “space”.

Battery – 3500 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0. The charge is enough for 2 days of work. As before, the device has all wireless interfaces - NFC, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0. The new product received a good 8 MP selfie camera, as well as a dual matrix on the back – 12+12 MP. Now the smartphone can do Bokeh and it turns out more than worthy. Another nice feature is Slo-mo shooting. It is worth noting that the camera loses to numerous competitors in the same price segment, but don’t forget – first of all, BlackBerry KEY 2 is a working tool. Given this positioning, there can be no complaints about the camera.

In terms of performance, the phone turned out to be very thoughtful. We chose Snapdragon 660 as the processor and this is a tribute to the best combination of speed and autonomy. For the tasks for which the device is designed, it is quite sufficient. There is no point in discussing memory, everything is excellent here - 6 GB of RAM and a choice of 64 or 128 GB of ROM. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 8.1, but the company promises an update to the next version 9.0. Naturally, all branded applications for optimization and safety during operation are present.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • Considering the positioning, there are no downsides.

BlackBerry KEY 2 LE

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 636 (8 cores, up to 2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 26,900 rubles.

BlackBerry KEY 2 LE came out a little later than its older brother KEY 2 and actually became its budget version. The model has received visual changes - in design and keyboard it is closer to the KEYone, but the smartphone is lighter. The frame is made of metal, back panel branded plastic, but with a new texture. The new product is distinguished by new colors - red, bronze and black. The frame and frets of the keyboard are painted in them. This looks really interesting.

The new product runs on Snapdragon 636, which is intermediate option between the chipsets of the first and second versions of the model. Memory – 4/64 GB. All this is quite enough for everyday work. The battery turned out to be the smallest - 3000 mAh, but at the same time it can easily withstand a working day. There is fast charging. The gadget was equipped with a dual camera – 13+5 megapixels with all the capabilities that the older modification has. The front module is 8 megapixels with flash. In terms of software options, the device completely replicates KEY 2. OS – Android 8.1 with an update to the next version.

In fact, this device was released for those who are closer to the KEYone design, but need the capabilities of KEY 2. In addition, in comparison with the latter, the new product is better in price.

Advantages:

  • Current OS with update to a newer version.
  • High quality cameras.
  • Decent performance.
  • Proprietary software.
  • Interesting body colors.
  • NFC support.

Flaws:

  • Compared to previous models, the device is not as autonomous, but in general it will be enough for a day of work.

Samsung Galaxy Y Pro

  • Operating system: Android 2.3
  • CPU: Broadcom BCM21553 (1 core, 832 MHz)
  • Memory size: 384 MB RAM and 160 MB ROM
  • Display: 2.6 inches, TFT, 240 x 320 pixels

Price: less than 7000 rub.

At one time, push-button Android smartphones were produced by many large companies. A good example The Galaxy Y Pro serves this purpose. It's a pity that the South Koreans never produced a successor to this model. Now it is quite outdated - applications for Android 2.3 are almost no longer developed. But if you have recently used a QWERTY smartphone from Nokia based on Symbian, then the South Korean product may well suit you.

The device with a quarter keyboard for Android turned out to be very light - its weight does not exceed 108 grams. The keys are pressed clearly, their mechanism is made according to the traditional system - they should withstand at least a couple of years of active use. Concerning wireless networks, then there is support for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Only the minimum amount of RAM can confuse you, which makes using some services very difficult. And the screen could have been installed better, because the TFT matrix is famous for its minimal viewing angles.

Advantages

  • Minimum weight;
  • Comfortable keyboard;
  • Not the largest sizes;
  • Optimal price tag.

Flaws

  • Old version of the operating system;
  • Weak components;
  • Camera resolution is only 3.2 megapixels;
  • Simple display.

Runbo X3

  • Operating system: Android 4.0
  • CPU: MediaTek MT6577 (2 cores, 1.2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.5 inches, 480 x 800 pixels

Price: 10,000 rub.

This device not only has a QWERTY keyboard, but also a protected case. Practice shows that it is impossible to use it constantly to type a large number of texts. But such a device performs well in field conditions. The creators also assume that their creation will be used in and at work under the most severe conditions of exploitation. It is possible to break the X3, but with incredible difficulty. The device does not have the worst components.

Most of all, the buyer should be pleased with the camera, which has an 8-megapixel resolution. And the LED flash will not only help make the photo brighter, but also allow you to find something lost in the bushes. There is also a front-facing camera, but its resolution is so low that it is better to forget about its existence. Concerning wireless modules, then the device assumes its use in 3G networks. There is also a stably functioning navigation module that interacts with GPS satellites. If you haven't gone very far from urban areas, you can listen to FM radio. The smartphone is also capable of operating in mode using the PTT Walkie Talkie 5km 400-470 MHz module.

Advantages

  • Decent components;
  • Protection from moisture and shock;
  • Not a bad main camera;
  • Small but clear display;
  • Built-in walkie-talkie.

Flaws

  • The keyboard cannot be called very comfortable;
  • Heavy weight (245 grams);
  • The operating time could have been longer.

DELL Venue Pro

  • Operating system: Windows Phone 7
  • CPU: Qualcomm QSD8250 (1 core, 1 GHz)
  • Memory size: 512 MB RAM and ROM
  • Display: 4.1 inches, AMOLED, 480 x 800 pixels

Price: 28,000 rub.

When listing smartphone manufacturers, you probably won’t remember DELL. This company works closely with, creating quite good laptops and all-in-one computers. From time to time this manufacturer indulges in experiments. One of them resulted in the birth of DELL Venue Pro.

This is a slider running the seventh version of the mobile operating system from Microsoft. As usual, it does not consume resources, and therefore we recommend not paying attention to weak components. Although I would like more permanent memory, because there is no slot for microSD here. This smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard cannot boast very much high resolution display. But it is not so low that the pixelation is clearly noticeable. You can buy a smartphone with a push-button keyboard just to type a lot of text. The operating system contributes to this - it interacts perfectly with Word and Excel. But in other respects, it loses to Android, since the number of applications developed for it is very limited. It is also impossible not to note the weak camera by today’s standards and the very decent weight of the device, equal to 192 grams.

Advantages

  • An original form factor by modern standards;
  • Well done job with text documents;
  • Braking is extremely rare;
  • Pleasant to the touch plastic.
