LG has released a whole line of X smartphones that are not flagships, but each of them has its own characteristic feature. X cam - a dual rear camera, X style - a thin body, X view - an additional screen, and X power - a large battery, but relatively big screen with HD resolution, which (theoretically) will allow the smartphone to work for a really long time on a single charge.

What is this?

LG X power - Android smartphone with 5.3-inch IPS display 1280x720, 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, 2 GB random access memory, dual SIM support, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and large battery at 4100 mAh.

What does it look like?

Despite the impressive battery, the smartphone turned out to be quite compact and light. Largely thanks to plastic case and a relatively small screen. The smartphone is available in white, gold and dark blue colors. The blue version looks quite restrained and neat. On the front panel (in addition to the screen), there is an LG logo at the bottom of the case, a set of sensors, a front camera and an LED indicator at the top. The case has small bevels at the top and bottom of the front panel. Screen protected Gorilla Glass 3rd generation, on top of which a protective film is glued from the factory. It's cheap, but it's better than nothing, and it won't be a shame to remove or replace it.

The back cover is not removable; the card tray is located on the left side. There is also a volume rocker on it:

You can insert either 2 nanoSIM cards or one plus MicroSD up to 32 GB into the tray:

Along the perimeter of the case there is a decorative frame made of glossy plastic. An additional microphone is located at the top end of the smartphone:

On the right side is the power button:

Bottom - MicroUSB connector, microphone for calls and 3.5 mm headphone jack:

The back panel is made of embossed dark blue practical plastic, which practically does not leave fingerprints. In the middle of the back panel is the LG logo. On top is a camera with a single LED flash and an external speaker on the bottom. A typical and not very practical speaker placement, which is typical for mid- and budget-priced smartphones. On the table it is significantly dampened:

The smartphone looks calm and reserved. There are no special complaints about the quality of materials and workmanship, especially considering the positioning. Plastic is like plastic, and thanks to the non-removable lid, there’s nothing to wobble or creak.

How good is the screen?

LG X power is equipped with a relatively compact (by modern standards) 5.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1280x720, which gives a pixel density of 277 ppi. It’s quite normal for such a diagonal, and it also has a positive effect on energy consumption. As already written above, a protective film was pasted from the factory. Its advantage is that the screen remains intact, the disadvantage is its quality. It immediately becomes covered with very noticeable scratches out of the blue. The maximum brightness is low and the display becomes difficult to read in the sun, but color rendition is not bad.

Viewing angles are maximum, which is expected for modern IPS screens without an air gap:

Multi-touch up to 10 touches supported:

As expected, the maximum brightness is really low: only 255.957 cd/m2, black field brightness is 0.29 cd/m2 and the contrast is at a good level: 883:1, although it would be wrong to judge by an engineering sample, so it’s worth looking at the final version. Any adjustment utilities color temperature no, there is only a reading mode that makes the colors warmer. For its class, the screen is well calibrated, although the usual inaccuracies in color reproduction and color gamut present:

Comparison with other models:

How are things going with performance, memory and autonomy?

The smartphone has budget hardware: a quad-core 64-bit processor MediaTek MT6735 with a maximum frequency of 1.3 GHz, 2 GB about RAM, built-in - 16 GB, memory cards up to 32 GB are supported, but you will need to limit yourself to one SIM card. Just over 10 GB is available out of the box. This hardware is enough for the smooth operation of the interface and applications. The system is not very good for games. Some games (for example, NBA and NFS: No Limits) run fine, although not at maximum settings. In Unkilled, FPS drops noticeably:

The smartphone has Wi-Fi b/g/n (2.4 GHz only) and Bluetooth 4.2 and radio. Minimum required. The GPS module works quickly, a cold start takes no more than 15 seconds:

The main feature of the smartphone is its large 4100 mAh battery. Together with fairly economical hardware, it is able to provide truly impressive time battery life. In a very intensive mode, the smartphone works for 2 full days without recharging, in a more gentle mode - without any problems it turns out to be 3 days. So the smartphone will prove itself as a “workhorse” in at its best. Using a proprietary charger, the smartphone charges in about 2 hours, plus there is support for charging other devices via an OTG cable, which can be very useful.

For those who want to know more

64-bit quad-core processor systemMediaTek MT6735 (4 ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 1.3 GHz) with graphics accelerator Mali-T720 and 2 GB of RAM, as expected, produces rather low results in synthetic tests, although the main thing is that the interface and applications work without problems. For lovers of numbers:

Is the interface user-friendly?

Out of the box, LG X power runs on current version Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with its own shell, which does not radically change the “native” interface, but adds a number of useful and convenient functions. At the same time, it looks easy and unobtrusive (and works quickly).

As usual, most application icons have been redrawn to match their own style. LG does not limit users to desktop options without a separate application menu, as Chinese manufacturers often do. There is such an option.

But there are also two options with a separate menu installed applications. Simplified and standard:

This is configured in a separate settings item:

The top curtain is as close as possible to the original one Android Marshmallow. You can customize the display and order of icons and remove (or hide) brightness and volume adjustments:

There is a traditional LG option for customizing touch buttons; there can be up to five of them. In particular, you can remove the curtain button, screenshot, SIM card management and QSlide:

QSlide - useful thing, which allows you to open some applications in windowed mode:

The settings menu is sorted into separate groups:

And set standard applications as interpreted by LG:

Is the camera good?

LG has also redrawn the camera interface. And it also turned out to be simple and intuitive. There are buttons for taking photos and videos (no need to additional settings modes), viewing previous captured frames, sharing buttons on social networks and cloud storage and different shooting modes. You can set up shooting based on hand gestures and use the screen as a backlight for selfies:

The smartphone has 13 and 5 megapixel cameras. This is not a camera phone, so don't expect stellar quality, but in normal lighting you can get decent photos. In poor lighting the task becomes much more difficult and the pictures become quite grainy:

The smartphone shoots video in FullHD

Bottom line

LG X power is worth a closer look for users who are looking for inexpensive smartphone with a large battery, long battery life and a simple, intuitive interface that works quickly. This - a “workhorse” for those who are not interested mobile games and the quality of the main camera is not too important, but the emphasis is on not worrying about how not to forget or where to recharge the phone by the end of the working day. Of course, the main audience - those who still do not trust the numerous Chinese manufacturers, which can offer more technically advanced models for the same money.

4 reasons to buy LG X power:

  • compact and convenient body;
  • large battery with long operating time;
  • fast charging and support for charging other devices;
  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with a light and fast shell.

2 reasons not to buy LG X power:

  • weak iron;
  • mediocre camera quality.

    1. Great battery. And its charging speed is approximately 1 hour or so when fully discharged.
    2. Stylish, slim body.
    3. Not a bad filling, quite fast and clear.
    4. Double tap to activate or deactivate the display.
Flaws
    1. Not a drawback, rather a feature. But it cost me a lot of nerves. As a result, I figured out the problem myself, but the sellers, and even more so the staff of an authorized service center, could explain it. So: when purchasing a smart phone, by default it is set to 4G/LTE mode. Everything would be fine, just watch what’s happening with the network (I have Beeline). Jumping like on a snowboard. But the most important thing is when the “pit” stage, and when you speak, the interlocutor complains that you are inaudible. So here it is. Go to the settings menu, networks, select the mode without LTE. You will have H+ at approximately the same speed. But there is a clear, stable network and normal voice mode.
    2. The earphone speaker is a little quiet. But nothing to the maximum, and soon you get used to it. This is noticeable in relation to the same LG smarts (I previously had an L65) of previous generations. But, for example, it is much better and smoother than the ASUS 520 (Zen Fone 3), which, for the stated reason, failed a day later - it has a particularly quiet earphone, even at maximum. In general, it’s not seditious.
    3. Noisy standard control unit. While charging quietly. As soon as it charges there is a characteristic electric noise. Especially audible in a quiet room. Let's say at night.
    4. Weak sound from the standard speaker. There would be two of them. And the frequencies are more impressive. You can listen, but “so-so.”
    5. Compared to iPhones and Samsungs, the display colors are faded. But, again, not much. But it's a gorgeous big screen. Standard iPhones(6ki, 7ki) well, they’re just kids relative to the size of the X Power.
    6. There is not enough slot for Micro SD. I don’t know what kind of idiotic solution is duplicated by many models. I am one of those users who uses a smart phone with 2 sims. Of course, he has a good memory, but if you go on a trip, you won’t be able to pump up the movies. Or a flash drive with them and pull out the 2nd sim, or beard.

Overall, one of the best options at the beginning of 2017. If you need a large, reliable smart phone from a renowned manufacturer, with incredible battery potential and for about 10-11 thousand rubles, there is no competition.
The following is subjective, but I have the right to express my opinion:
Apple unreasonable price, well, I don’t want to join the herd “like everyone else.” Not to mention, they already have a bunch of disadvantages regarding the possibilities of third-party free content, etc., etc. I used it. Yes, everything is clear, etc. But it reminds me of Alcatelli from the early 2000s - everything seems beautiful, but the vast majority of functions are unnecessary and unused. Because, well, I don’t want to adjust my habits to someone’s mentor’s “now you will be like this.” Google has no less garbage content, but Androids give more freedom of individualization. Got distracted.
In general: list the candidates here on Citylink, click “Compare”, and you’ll understand everything yourself. If you know how to count money. Samosas are 2-4 thousand more expensive, SONY is even more expensive, the ACER-ASUS tandem will be inferior in some way; The Chinese are still Chinese. Well, Alcatel... the French are only good at perfume...

On the technical side, everything is in order: a 13MP and 5MP camera, screen color reproduction, a well-placed huge battery (fortunately this did not affect the dimensions in any way), 2GB of RAM.
Flaws
I didn’t quite like the on-screen keys, but you can customize them to suit yourself

A friend advised me to buy, according to him, this is a traveling device with a normal battery, which will not constantly say that it’s time to go for charging))) Now I’m convinced of this myself) in fact, it lasts for 2 days, and it takes only the time to charge couple of hours. The trump card is that the battery capacity is 4100mAh, although you can’t tell by the size) otherwise the characteristics are normal: 13MP camera, bright 5.3-inch screen, all kinds of sensors, monolithic body. Good device, I'm satisfied.

Before buying a new phone, there were difficulties in choosing between a “Chinese” or a brand. In both cases there are many interesting options. I relied on battery life without recharging and the circle narrowed sharply)) Still, if something happens to the phone, you will be able to contact the official service center at warranty case and repair it free of charge. In fact, I bought a phone and sleep peacefully) About the phone itself: excellent battery, average performance characteristics, availability: GLONASS, 4G, OTG, nano SIM (combined with a memory card), Android 6.0.1, camera auto-shooting using face recognition, on-screen keys (up to 5 buttons can be selected), one-piece body, 7.9 mm thickness, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32, fast charging function, 4 core 1.3 GHz processor. For my personal needs, the phone is quite suitable, and if anything happens to it, I can always contact official user support.

The South Korean company LG is one of the few that, year after year, continues not only to release new smartphones, but also to experiment, often boldly and unexpectedly. Let's take several flagships from LG as an illustrative example, because it is on them that the company most often tests new technologies and solutions. For example, in the LG G5SE, the manufacturer used a dual camera for the first time: two shooting modules were made not just to stand out, but with a very clear purpose. One module allows you to take photographs in a familiar way and with a familiar viewing angle, when the frame fits exactly as much as we are used to seeing in the camera of any smartphone. The second module is wide-angle and is designed for shooting landscapes and moments when you want to capture as much space as possible in the frame. Where on another smartphone you have to turn on the panorama mode and move the camera left and right while the system stitches together many frames, in the LG G5SE you just need to switch to the wide-angle camera and take one photo. Comfortable!

The second example is LG V10. The company's original smartphone: powerful, stylish, with a great camera, but many people remember it not because of these things, but because of the second display. Above the main display in LG V10 they placed a small OLED display that displays helpful information: time, date, missed events. Moreover, the screen is always on and does not need to be further activated. In practice this turned out to be very convenient. When you take your smartphone out of your pocket, you don't have to touch the display or keys to see what time it is or if there are any missed notifications.

It would seem that experimental features should continue to be used in expensive devices, but LG decided otherwise. The company has transferred some of its capabilities to the smartphones of its new X-series - four interesting devices, each of which has an original twist and is unlike not only the other models in this series, but also other smartphones in general price segment. Let's look at LG X view, X cam, X power and X style!

LG X view

Three main things to know about the LG X view - it's compact, made of fiberglass and has a second display. Thanks to the main display with a 4.93" diagonal, the phone is small, easy to hold, easy to talk on, and can be used with one hand. And due to the use of durable fiberglass, from which the front and back panels of the smartphone are made, the device is lightweight and scratch-resistant. Of course, with active use such a coating gets dirty, but in the LG X view both panels have a good oleophobic layer, so marks and prints can be easily removed. But due to the glossy surfaces, the smartphone looks impressive and unusual. There are three body colors for the LG X view - black, white and soft pink. The last option is perfect for girls, and the first two are universal.

But the main thing here is the second display. In addition to the main display with a diagonal of 4.93"" and an HD resolution of 1280x720 pixels, the LG X view has a second display with a diagonal of 1.76"" and a resolution of 520x80 pixels. What is it for? Firstly, the secondary screen is always active, unlike the main one, even when you are not using your smartphone. At this time, your signature or the current time, date and battery level are displayed on the second display, and by scrolling you can open a menu for launching the flashlight, turning on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and adjusting the volume. Comfortable. Secondly, it displays notifications such as new messages, calls and others, regardless of whether you are using this moment smartphone or the main display is turned off. This means that notifications about new events do not interfere with your work with information on the main screen, because they are shown on the second screen and do not interrupt the work of the main display. For example, an icon indicating incoming call, appears on the second display, which means it does not overlap the main screen while the navigator is running, playing a game, or when you are watching a video. Finally, thirdly, you can display icons of frequently used programs on the secondary display to launch them as quickly as possible, even if you are currently in an application or game on the main display.

LG X cam

The LG X cam pays no less attention to design than the X view. Slim and neat case in titanium, gold or pink gold in soft colors, smooth curves, a metal-look design and a slightly curved front panel - these details together create a single image of the device. The smartphone looks expensive and impressive, despite the fact that seemingly familiar plastic and glass are used here. The dimensions are moderate, while the smartphone is equipped with a 5.2’’ screen based on a high-quality IPS matrix with Full HD resolution.

However, the design is still in the background here, with the dual camera in the foreground. LG X cam has two main cameras - one with a regular shooting angle and a resolution of 13 megapixels, the second is a wide-angle with a resolution of 5 megapixels. What is it for? The most obvious example is a group portrait or shooting in a small room. In both cases, it is often necessary to “fit” many people or objects into the camera at once, but the viewing angle is small, and they just can’t fit. This is where you need a wide-angle camera that captures several times more space in the frame. The first, 13 megapixel camera in the LG X cam has a shooting angle of 78 degrees, in fact, almost the same as in other smartphones. But the second, 5 megapixel camera has an angle of 120 degrees, feel the difference!

Switching between cameras is made as simple as possible - by pressing one button in shooting mode. In addition to the usual resolution settings, the device can use special color filters, as well as shoot in unusual modes. One of them is collages. By choosing this mode, you can take a photo in the frame of a photograph in the fish-eye format (when the picture seems to be convex), place the photo in film, as on old film cameras, and so on. And, of course, like any other smartphone from LG, X cam allows you to take selfies with the 8 MP front camera without touching the screen. Just launch the camera and the device will take the photo itself! The lens automatically recognizes the user's face, triggers a three-second countdown, and the smartphone takes a photo. The main thing is not to forget to enable the “Auto Shoot” option in the camera settings. For those who like to take photos by voice command or gesture, the “shoot by hand gesture” function, as well as the ability to say “cheese”, “smiley”, “whisky”, “kimchi” or “elgie” remain in the list of available ones.

LG X power

How often does it happen that even when we run out of the house with a fully charged smartphone, by the middle of the day we find ourselves with a completely discharged one? Communication in in social networks during lunch, a dozen or two photos on the way to the office, phone calls throughout the day, using the Internet for trifles, and the battery charge literally melts before our eyes. In LG X power, the main feature is a high-capacity battery, 4100 mAh, so that the smartphone does not work for 5-6 hours on a single charge, as often happens with modern devices, but at least the whole day, from morning to night. And with less active use, one charge lasts for two days or more. In addition, thanks to support for the USB On-The-Go standard, the new LG X power can be used as an external battery, recharging other devices with its help, for example, a loved one’s smartphone or a friend’s phone. LG X power supports fast charging and can be charged to 100% in less than 2 hours.

What else? Wide display with a diagonal of 5.3" and HD resolution, 13 and 5 megapixel main and front cameras with a choice of color filters and a convenient "Auto-take" selfie function, as well as taking selfies using a voice command or clenching your palm in front of the camera, 2 GB of RAM memory, slot for microSD card. In a word, everything is in place.

LG X power not only lasts a long time, but is also practical. For this smartphone, the company chose a textured cover and a thin body of only 7.9 millimeters thick, making the smartphone comfortable to hold even with wet hands; it does not slip out or get dirty. And the presence of three colors - indigo, white and gold - will allow you to choose a device exactly to your taste.

LG X style

“Design is not the main thing.” I said this when talking about previous devices. And now, next is the smartphone, where design is the main thing. LG X style is a very thin smartphone, the thickness of the device is only 6.9 mm, while its edges do not cut into the palm of your hand, like some other thin phones, it is convenient and comfortable to hold. The front panel is tempered glass, resistant to scratches and fingerprints, the back side is plastic. Lovers of different color options have plenty to choose from; the smartphone is available in titanium, white and gold. The frame in the LG X chair is made to look like metal, and in fact, it is practically impossible to distinguish it from real metal without touching the surface.

The smartphone uses a 5" diagonal screen with HD resolution, one and a half gigabytes of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory with a slot for a microSD card. The main 8 megapixel camera allows you to take bright pictures, and the front camera allows you to take selfies without touching the screen and keys of your smartphone; just point the camera and freeze for a couple of seconds, thanks to the “Auto Shoot” mode, the photo will be ready in a matter of moments. Both cameras feature film filters with various effects that can be applied to both frames taken with the main lens and selfies taken with the front lens.

It would seem that often smartphones united by the common name of the line are very similar to each other. However, in its X-series, LG, on the contrary, has assembled completely different devices.

LG X view – spectacular and compact smartphone made of fiberglass with a very unusual “feature” - a second display. Once you use the device, you get used to the second display without noticing it.

LG X cam is a neat, convenient smartphone with good characteristics and a very useful option for those who like to take photographs in different situations and genres - two cameras. The first camera is for traditional shooting, the second is for those moments when you need to capture as much as possible in the frame!

LG X power is a thin and practical device for those for whom it is important to stay connected throughout the day, having a charged smartphone and being confident that it will not run out by the middle of the day. The 4100 mAh battery in this device is what you need.

LG X style is a beautiful and easy-to-use smartphone: light, thin, elegant, convenient - what more do you need from inexpensive phone?

By the way, all of the listed smartphones support LTE and are equipped with two SIM card slots, one of which is universal and is also suitable for an SD card. This is a convenient feature characteristic of the X series from LG.
