There are many programs online for remote control computer. And all of them are paid in one way or another with various restrictions for the free version.

However, in the operating room Windows system There are built-in functions that allow you to remotely control your desktop and this tool is called “Windows 7 Remote Assistance” and if you use it as described in the manual, then this is an extremely inconvenient tool. Since for each communication session you need to create an invitation file and send it to the person who will connect.

And this is still normal if you make a one-time connection via the Internet to resolve some issue. And if you need to constantly connect to your computer, then asking the user to create and send an invitation file every time is expensive. Therefore, let's consider a mode that is designed to control client machines on a local network without sending an invitation.

The standard algorithm for the program is as follows. First you need to allow management (My Computer\RMB\Properties\Advanced system settings\Allow connections to this PC\Advanced\Allow management\Set a time limit during which the invitation will remain open)

Now you need to create an invitation file through which you can connect to your desktop via the Internet (Start\All Programs\Maintenance\Windows Remote Assistance\Invite someone you trust to help you\Save the invitation as a file). We save the file on a public resource or send it via the Internet along with a password!

Next, we launch Remote Assistance on the computer from which we will connect ( Start\All Programs\Maintenance\Windows 7 Remote Assistance, in Windows 10 and 8, access to the assistant was removed from the menu, so you will need to launch it via Run (Win+R) \ msra \ Help someone who invited you \ Use an invitation file \ Enter the password \ Next, the client must allow you to view your desktop \ Request control to be able to control the mouse and keyboard)

As you can see, this process quite long and not convenient. Therefore, we will set up the work of the remote assistant without the need to send an invitation file. But, this method will only work on a local network, where you can directly connect to a computer via an IP address. If you need to connect via the Internet, you will have to generate an invitation file!

To configure remote access on all computers, I will use domain group policy. As you already understand, I am demonstrating the work of a remote assistant in a virtual network that we created as a result of completing the free video course “Installation and configuration Windows Server 2008R2. Although this method is intended for working in a domain network, it is also suitable for working in a workgroup or peer-to-peer network.

Let's go to settings group policy(Start\Administrative Tools\Group Policy Management\Domains\office.local\Default Domain Policy\Settings\RMB\Edit\Computer Configuration\Policy\Administrative Templates\System\Remote Assistance).

Here you need to configure 2 parameters:

Request help\Enable\Helpers can manage your computer;

Offer help\Enable\Helpers\Show\Value (enter the name of the user account that will have access to connect to the computer specifying the domain): office\sysadmin.

Now we need to apply the policy to computers, we can either reboot the workstations or force the policy to update via Run \cmd\gpupdate.

Let's try to connect to the workstation; to do this, you need to launch “Remote Assistance” in the help offer mode. To do this, add the /offerra key to the program name, resulting in msra.exe /offerra. The best way is to create a shortcut with the command msra.exe /offerra !

Enter the IP address or Domain name the computer to which we want to connect, we allow access to connect, and then to control! You can also start the “Conversation” chat to correspond with the user.

As you can see, with this method no manipulation is required on the part of the user, except for permission to connect and control, and it’s completely free! If you are interested in the implementation this method in the working group, then write in the comments, if the topic is popular, I will make a video for the working group.

As you understand, in order to connect to a computer you need to know its IP address or DNS name. If the user is weak, it will be difficult to explain to him where to look at the IP address of the machine. In this case, I use the BGinfo program, which adds various parameters to the desktop wallpaper. I've already done that too.

I would add the following here: in the video for this program, I made a black background so that the characteristics on wallpaper of any color could be seen. But, you can simply duplicate the address in white and black. Thus, the user will see the required settings in any case.

Surely not every PC user (especially a beginner) knows that a computer can be safely controlled from a distance, and fully! Those. as if you were sitting and working at your own computer, but from a distance, and doing it, for example, from a tablet or another computer. This can be very convenient and, for example, I use this opportunity regularly. Why do I need it? I work a lot on the Internet, but I can’t always sit at my computer. Sometimes I need to go somewhere or see someone, but some urgent matter comes up and I need my computer to open some program, run something, look at something. Carrying a computer with you always and everywhere is very problematic. It weighs about 4 kg, which feels good when carrying it :) But on the other hand, I always have a tablet or smartphone with me, from which I can connect to my computer at any time and from anywhere, which I leave turned on at home. And this way, I can work on it just as if I were at home. Another reason for remote access– the opportunity to ask a friend or colleague to help you sort out any problems in the settings or programs on your computer through remote access. You yourself can also help someone solve some problem on their computer by connecting remotely to this person. And lastly... It happens that the right computer is in a hard-to-reach place or you need to walk to it. In this case, the easiest way is to connect to it remotely and you’re done!

This article of mine will talk about how to remotely control a computer from any device, and with the help of this guide you will learn how to do it easily even if you are a complete beginner! We will consider the most, in my opinion, convenient program for this matter - TeamViewer, and today I will tell you about its main most necessary and useful functions. Yes, it is also free for non-commercial use! There are only 2 conditions for remote device management: the presence of an Internet connection on both devices, and the presence of the TeamViewer program on both devices.

Today, the TeamViewer program is supported, one might say, by all devices:

For all these devices, you can download the TeamViewer app for free.

It is also interesting that you can control it the other way around – smartphones and tablets from a desktop computer.

So, let's begin to understand the program step by step, starting with its installation process.

Installing TeaViewer

First you need to download the program itself. It is best to download from the official website, since the most latest version. Go to the official TeamViewer website using the link:

    teamviewer

At the top of the page that opens you can’t help but notice big button"Free full version" Here we press it:

After downloading the file, find it on your computer and run it. The file will be named: “TeamViewer_Setup_ru”:

In the next program window you will be asked to select an option using TeamViewer. These settings can be changed at any time after installation. If you want to control this computer (on which you are installing the program) remotely, then immediately select the appropriate item. Otherwise, simply select Install.

Below, be sure to select the “Personal, non-commercial use” option, since the program is distributed free of charge only for this use case.

At the end, check the “Show additional settings” box and click the “Accept - Next” button:

Windows User Account Control may ask you for confirmation to continue with the installation. Just click “Yes”:

In the next window, check the path where the program will be installed and change it if desired. But I recommend leaving the default path. The options below may not be enabled. All of them, if necessary, can be set after installation. Click the “Finish” button:

A quick program installation process will begin, which will take from a few seconds to a minute.

This completes the installation of the TeamViewer program! Let's move on to its settings and application.

Setting up TeamViewer

Settings uncontrolled access to computer:

Now we can freely control this computer from any other device, no matter where we are within the Internet access zone :) But for this, let’s deal with the information that we (or anyone else) need to know so that we can connect to this computer remotely.

Data required for remote control of any device:

Perhaps the most important thing is to know the data by which you can connect remotely to your current computer.

To connect to this computer from another computer / device with TeamViewer installed, you only need to know:

    ID of this computer;

Password for accessing this computer via TeamViewer (not to be confused with the password for logging into Windows!).

All this data is located in the main program window:

According to my example (see image above) to remotely access this computer in this moment I need to specify ID: 900 288 832 and password: 6sx71k on the remote device.

The ID in TeamViewer for each specific computer does not change. Those. the one that is indicated in the window you will always indicate during a remote connection. And there are 2 types of passwords in TeamViewer: temporary (random) and personal (permanent). Now more about this:

I hope you understand the difference in passwords :)

Now let's go through the main most important settings of the program.

Basic program settings:

To go to all program settings, open the “Advanced” menu at the top and select “Options”:

We will immediately be taken to the “Main” tab. Here you can enable or disable automatic start TeamViewer programs when booting Windows. If you are going to control this computer remotely, then I strongly recommend leaving this item enabled. Then you don’t have to launch TeamViewer manually, especially if you are far away and TeamViewer is at this computer will not be launched, you will not be able to connect to it.

Below you can see a message that you are linked to the account you created earlier. If you click the "Delete" button, you can break this connection.

On this tab, there are no more important settings that are not set by default. Go to the next tab “Security”.

On the “Security” tab we can change the “Personal” password by entering a new one and repeating it at the very top. Below you can set up a “random” password by specifying the number of characters. By default, such a password will always be 6 characters long.

In the last section, “Rules for connecting to this computer,” you can allow or deny logging in remotely using Windows password. It is most reliable to leave this parameter set to default, i.e. - "Is not allowed". The easiest way to connect is through TeamViewer password and it will be safer that way.

“Remote control” tab. There are important settings here. All these settings are global - i.e. for any connection. But if you created for yourself account(as discussed), then for each computer added to your personal list, you can set your own connection parameters, but more on that later.

This is what the settings on this tab look like:

At the very top you can adjust the image quality when connecting to a remote computer. It’s better to leave either “Automatic quality selection” or “Optimize speed”. I always set speed optimization to connect to a remote machine and work with virtually no delays even through Mobile Internet. There is only one minus - the image quality (the way we see the remote computer) will not be the best, but sometimes this is not even noticeable.

Below, as you can see, the “Hide wallpaper on the remote machine” option is enabled. This means that when you connect to a remote computer, the desktop background there will become simply black. I always leave this option enabled so as not to waste resources on loading a sometimes large background image.

Even lower are additional settings that can be configured according to everyone’s preferences. For example, if the “Play computer sounds and music” function is enabled, you will accordingly hear all the sounds of the remote computer.

It can be useful to enable the “Send keyboard shortcut” option. If you enable this option, then when you connect to a remote computer, you will be able to use your usual keyboard shortcuts. For example, a quick way to open the task manager is “Ctrl+Shift+Esc”.

In general, here you configure it as you need.

Let’s go straight to the “Computers and Contacts” tab.

The “Computers and Contacts” tab will display your account settings, which will then show all the remote computers and users you have added. On this tab you can change your account information, as well as computer display settings.

At this point we have discussed the basic settings. Now let's move on to the main thing - remote computer control.

The principle of remote computer control

We can, as I already said, control a computer or any other device (TeamViewer must also be installed and configured on them!) from any point where there is access to the Internet and we just need to know the ID of the managed device and its password (random or permanent ). Knowing these 2 parameters, we can control the computer.

Let's try to connect to the computer remotely:

In the main TeamViewer window, where the “Manage Computer” section is located, indicate the ID of the computer that we will manage in the “Partner ID” field.

If you created an account, then we can immediately add the computer to our “Favorites” list by clicking the button with an asterisk:

A window for access settings for the computer that we add to the list will open in front of us:

In the image above, I have marked the fields and lists where it is best to make changes:

    • We specify the password if you know the “personal” password of the remote computer. Otherwise, leave the field blank.

Specify the network name of the remote computer (for your own convenience). It will appear in the list of your computers.

If you wish, you can specify a description of the remote computer to be added for convenience if you have a large list of them.

In the Window list, I selected Full Screen Mode. This means that when connecting to a remote TeamViewer computer will display the remote computer in full screen. It will look like you are fully working on that computer. You can select another option, for example “Windowed Mode”, and then the remote computer will be displayed in the window.

In the “Quality” list, I always select “Optimize speed” so as not to sacrifice performance, especially when connected to a slow Internet.

It is better to always set “Identification mode” to “TeamViewer Identification”. Then you will only need to know the password set for a particular computer in the TeamViewer program to connect to it.

The remaining settings can be left with the “Inherited” value, because, as a rule, there is no need for them and, in extreme cases, they can be configured at any time.

When the settings are set, click the “OK” button.

The computers that you will add to your list will be visible in a separate window, as in my example in the image below:

In the example, I added a computer named “Test TeamViewer”.

Now that the computer is in the list, to connect to it, simply double-click on its name. If you immediately specified a password, it will not be requested and the connection will occur immediately (within a couple of seconds).

Another way to quickly connect to a computer, if for some reason you did not create an account and do not add computers to your favorites list, is to simply enter the ID in the appropriate field and click “Connect to partner”:

The default mode is “Remote Control”, which is what we need. And we can turn on the “File Transfer” mode at any time during remote session.

Now a window will appear where you need to enter a password to connect to the remote computer:

Enter the password and click the “Login” button.

The connection usually occurs in a couple of seconds, but this depends on the speed of the Internet on both sides. After connecting to the remote computer, the window will look like this:

As you can see, the screen of the remote computer is black. As you probably remember, in the settings we left the “Hide wallpaper on the remote machine” option enabled. As a result, the wallpaper on the remote machine became black, which will reduce resource consumption, and immediately after disconnecting from the remote computer, its desktop wallpaper will return to its previous appearance.

This is how simple and easy it is to connect to a remote computer :)

You will be able to fully control your computer from any distance, and at the same time it will look exactly as if you were sitting at that computer.

Let me remind you once again that the same can be done from almost any device. If you, for example, have an iPad, then download TeamViewer onto it (it’s always free!), enter the ID and password of the remote computer, and that’s it! You will connect and be able to control it directly from your tablet, and it’s also very convenient!

Now let's look at some of the functions available to us during a remote session.

Functions available during a remote computer session using TeamViewer:

So, we are connected to a remote computer. At the top we see a panel with a set of functions. Let's go through the most necessary of them:

The button numbered “1” allows you to immediately terminate the connection with the remote computer.
After any termination of a TeamViewer session on both devices, a window will be displayed indicating that the free session has ended. Just always click "OK":

You can also instantly terminate the connection while on that remote computer. For example, someone remotely helps you set up a system or fixes a problem. If suddenly that person began to do some actions on your computer that, in your opinion, he does not need to do at all, then you can break the connection with just one button in the form of a cross (see image below):

The button numbered “2” allows you to hide this panel of remote session functions.

The button numbered “3” allows you to instantly switch to full-screen mode, which I use in 99% of cases.

A very useful feature is transferring files from local computer to the remote one and back. You can do this by simply dragging and dropping necessary files from your computer window to the remote computer window.

Another way is to use a special manager – “File Transfer”. It opens from the same panel that is fixed at the top. Select “File Transfer”, and then “File Transfer” again:

A special manager will open - Explorer. There is nothing complicated here either. We indicate from which folder on the local computer the file will be transferred, then indicate the folder where exactly the file will be transferred to the remote computer. Then select the file itself on the local computer that we will transfer and click the “Send” button:

The file will be transferred to the remote computer. In my example, I transferred an image file called "" from the "Downloads" folder to the remote computer's desktop:

After transferring the necessary data, the file transfer manager can be closed, and a window will be displayed with statistics on the transfer of your files, where you need to click “Close” again:

Or you can minimize this window.

There are 3 more very useful functions, which are available during the remote session. This includes voice communication, video broadcasting and chat support.

All these 3 functions can be activated by selecting the “Audio/Video” menu:

Here you can change the scaling, for example, enable full screen mode. Here, in the “Quality” submenu, you can select the quality you want for displaying content on remote computer, for example, by turning on "Optimize speed". Also here you can change the resolution of the remote computer (for example, if the resolution of your local computer is very different) and show / hide the wallpaper on the remote machine. Everything else is not so significant and necessary...

Well, that’s probably all the most useful things you need to know about how to remotely control a computer using TeamViewer :) Cool program, isn’t it? :)

The most important thing is that it is extremely simple, convenient, and even a beginner can handle it. And, of course, it’s free! In general, to be honest, I have not seen a better worthy replacement for the TeamViewer program.

And now I think that in a couple of weeks I will already write an article, and you will be able to familiarize yourself with the next testing of the new autoclicker!

Well, now I say goodbye to you for a week... Good luck to you and always have a good mood! ;)

Remote administration programs have always been popular. After all, it is very convenient to see what is being done on the computer while being in a completely different place. You can remotely help your friends solve some problems technical problems, check what the child is doing when he is alone at home, see how the download is progressing in a torrent client or encoding a large video.

Since smartphones and tablets appeared in home local networks, along with computers and laptops, it has become obvious that the latter are incredibly convenient to use for remote control. If the data transfer speed is high enough, then why not play a game installed on your computer while lying on the couch with your tablet? Or, say, not watching an interesting film? In addition, current mobile devices can cope well with the usual tasks that are assigned to remote access programs.

IN Google Play You can find more than a dozen applications with which you can organize remote control of computers running Windows, Mac and Linux. Among them are developments famous manufacturers Administration software and programs created specifically for mobile devices. There are not many free solutions among them. In this review, we tested four applications that allow you to work remotely on your computer from an Android smartphone or tablet.

⇡Microsoft Remote Desktop

  • Developer - Microsoft Corporation
  • Size - 4.4 MB
  • Price - free

Microsoft's proprietary utility for remotely controlling a computer with Android was released quite recently - at the end of October. Using the application, you can control a computer that runs on Windows 7 or Windows 8. Since we are dealing with a “native” solution from the developer of a desktop operating system, there is no need to install any client on it.

But in order to be able to connect, you still need to make some changes to the system settings: go to "Control Panels" to the “System” section and select “Remote access settings”. After this, you need to allow remote connections to the computer (by the way, if the built-in firewall is disabled, Windows will not allow you to enable remote access, so first you will have to start the corresponding service).

For authorization, the Microsoft Remote Desktop Android application uses the system username and password. If you are going to log in as an administrator, you do not need to perform any additional actions on your computer. To allow access to other users, you need to click on the “Select users” button and add them to the list of remote desktop users. It is also worth keeping in mind that if you do not use a password to log in, you must add it in the “User Accounts” section, since the remote connection will not work without a password. ( Please note that remote connection with using Microsoft Remote Desktop is only possible on computers that support Remote Desktop Protocol - RDP. A list of systems that are compatible with this protocol is available at the link. — approx. edit . )

After completing this simple setup, you can download the Microsoft Remote Desktop application from Google Play and add a new connection.

Its settings indicate the IP address of the computer on the local network or its name. You can also, if desired, specify a username and password to log in (for security reasons, you can not specify them right away, but enter them right before connecting).

If the connection is successful, local work with the computer will be blocked and a login window will appear on it. If you log in locally, the remote connection will be lost. Thus, when connecting remotely, you can see the desktop only on the screen of your mobile device.

Once connected, the remote desktop is displayed on the device screen. There are two controls available at the top of the screen: buttons for displaying the Android virtual keyboard and for navigating the screen.

If you need to use keys that are not on the Android keyboard, you can open the panel by touching the panel with the name of the connection additional settings. From it you can go to the virtual keyboard with the keys F1-F12, Esc, Home, Tab, End, Win, Ins, Enter and others - standard for a regular desktop pointing device. When connecting remotely to a Windows 8 device, pressing the virtual Win key switches between the desktop and the Start screen.

From the advanced settings panel, you can also disable multi-touch gestures and switch to navigation mode using a regular cursor.

To end the remote connection session, simply double-tap the Back button on your Android device.

⇡ “Teamviewer - remote access”

  • Developer - Teamviewer
  • Size - 11 MB
  • Price: Free for non-commercial use

Thanks to its free status (for non-commercial use) and simplicity, Teamviewer has long been one of the most popular remote administration solutions. With the advent of the era of mobile devices, applications were created to control computers running Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

To control your computer from a mobile device, you will need to install a PC client and an Android application. TeamViewer can connect to Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

If you do not plan to connect to other devices from your computer, it is most convenient to use TeamViewer QuickSupport. This module does not require installation or administrator rights. After launching it, a unique computer identifier (9 digits) is generated, as well as a four-digit password. The password can be updated if necessary.

Once this module is running, you can open the mobile application. Mobile Teamviewer can operate in two modes: remote control and file transfer. In both cases, you will need to enter an ID and password on the screen of your smartphone or tablet to connect to the computer.

If a remote connection was requested, then after a successful connection, the computer desktop will appear on the device screen. It will also be visible on the computer monitor screen, but the resolution will be changed in accordance with the screen settings of the mobile device.

To provide comfortable work With remote desktop, the creators of TeamViewer have developed a whole system of controls. Tips for using your fingers to navigate are shown before you connect, and can also be shown at any time during a remote work session. Thus, using your fingers you can scroll, imitate clicks of the right and left mouse buttons, move the cursor and individual objects.

Panel TeamViewer control located at the bottom of the screen. With its help, you can quickly end a session, send a remote computer to reboot, or block it. In addition, for the duration of a remote connection session, you can prohibit local work with the computer. If you have problems displaying the remote desktop, you can try reducing the resolution, data transfer quality, and also hiding the display of wallpaper in the mobile client settings. These options can be selected for an individual connection or globally.

The control panel also allows you to quickly display virtual keyboard. In addition to the Android keyboard, you can also work with additional keys: enable Ctrl, Alt, Shift, use the F1-F12 keys and others.

In file transfer mode you can see file system remote computer and copy files from PC to mobile device or vice versa.

The TeamViewer mobile client remembers the IDs of the computers to which the connection was made, but if there are many remote PCs, it is more convenient to use the “Computers and Contacts” section to manage them. To do this, you will need to create a Teamviewer account (you can do this from either a mobile device or a computer). Then you can create groups in it and add identifiers (and, if desired, passwords) of computers to which you need to connect.

  • Developer: Splashtop
  • Size - 18 MB
  • Price - free (expanded functionality - $1.99 per month)

Splashtop Remote is another free app that lets you from an Android device You can control a computer running Windows, Mac and Linux. It uses a slightly different distribution model than Teamviewer. The program is free for non-commercial use, but to use some additional features It is suggested to buy the extension. Paid options include: access to a remote computer via the Internet (you can only manage it over a local network for free) and tools for convenient creation annotations on the screen. Also free version has a limit on the number of computers you can connect to - up to five.

A Splashtop account is required to use the app. You can create it as in mobile application, and in the Splashtop Streamer desktop client. To connect, as you might guess, you need to log in on both devices using your account. After this, the mobile client will detect computers that are available for connection, and you can open a remote control session.

In the mobile client settings you can even enable automatic connection at startup. In this case, the list of available computers will not be displayed and the application will connect to the device for which the last remote connection session was performed.

By default, you do not need to enter any additional passwords, but if you are concerned about unauthorized access, you can enable the password request for the current account in the desktop client settings Windows entries. In addition, it is proposed to use a security code, that is, simply put, a password that will need to be entered each time to connect.

Some security settings, which in other solutions are available in mobile applications, are offered in Splashtop to be configured in the desktop client. For example, you can disable the display of your desktop on the local computer screen during a remote communication session. You can also block the use of the keyboard and mouse, and initiate logging out of your account upon completion of remote work.

One of the features of Splashtop is the transfer of HD video with sound to a mobile device. Thanks to this, you can, for example, watch a movie on your tablet that is running on your computer, or play remotely computer game. At the user's request, during a remote communication session, Splashtop can transmit sound only to a mobile device (it will not be heard locally), not transmit sound (it will be heard locally), or broadcast it both there and there.

When connecting remotely, the screen resolution on the computer does not change, and - unless otherwise specified in the client settings - you can continue to work on the local PC. To control the desktop of an Android computer, there are a number of gestures (tips on how to use them are offered for beginners), as well as a touchpad.

You can control cursor settings by changing sensitivity and movement speed. On a mobile device, you can view your computer desktop in its original resolution or scale it to fit a small screen.

  • Developer: Wyse Technology Inc.
  • Size - 11 MB
  • Price: Free (with some restrictions)

Another free solution, with which you can remotely access your computer desktop, is PocketCloud. However, it is not suitable for Linux users - the desktop version only supports computers with Mac or Windows. The mobile client is free for use with only one computer. To remove this limitation, as well as to get some additional features, you need to purchase PocketCloud Remote Desktop Pro.

One of strengths applications - the ability to select the connection type. By default, the simplest method is used, which does not require any technical knowledge from the user - through Google App Engine. In this case, you'll need to enter your Google account information in both the desktop client and the mobile app. After this, the computer will appear in the list of available devices on mobile screen- and you can start a connection session to it.

For advanced users, PocketCloud offers two more remote connection options - via RDP protocol, which is used in Windows, as well as through the popular VNC system. In both cases, you will need to enter the IP address of the computer you want to connect to.

After connecting, the following appears on the screen of your mobile device near the cursor: special element navigation - wheel with various functions. It is convenient to use if you need to click right click mouse, zoom in on a specific area of the screen, scroll, or display the virtual keyboard.

The mobile client settings provide a number of settings to improve the quality of image transmission. So, you can disable menu animation, themes, wallpapers, and high-quality fonts.

⇡ Conclusion

Almost all developers of applications for remote computer control provide their programs free of charge for non-commercial use. And we must admit that for ordinary tasks the proposed functions are quite sufficient. Each of the applications is attractive in some way: to work with Microsoft Remote Desktop you do not need to install additional software on your computer, Splashtop Remote provides audio transmission to a mobile device, PocketCloud is interesting because it offers several connection options. Finally, Teamviewer looks the most attractive, since it has a separate mode for transferring files, can work both on a local network and via the Internet, and does not impose restrictions on the number of computers to which you can connect.

Some of you, having read the title of the article, probably wondered: “Why is it necessary at all? control another computer via the Internet? It turns out that it is necessary, first of all, for potential readers of my blog - pensioners and dummies.

Don’t think that I want you to learn this in order to seize control of your neighbor’s computer, whose dog is driving you crazy with its constant barking, and start doing something incredible with him, terrifying him and his dog. Of course not. And without his knowledge, you are unlikely to succeed in such control. I won’t intrigue you, I’ll move on to the topic.

Why do you need to control another computer via the Internet?

Of course, first of all, so that someone more experienced and knowledgeable
computer technology, for example, your friend or relative who lives far from you could, if necessary, help you solve problems with your PC remotely.

Yes, it’s not even necessarily a problem, but just setting up some program or helping fill out the same application for a foreign passport via the Internet. Or another case: you are already a fairly experienced user and you need to sometimes look at your home PC from your “travel” laptop while away.

At least to print out some kind of document that is only there. Or for some other reason, you never know? This is where you need to control another, that is, your home computer via the Internet.

Or take an enterprise that has its own local network. Can you imagine how you'll have to run? system administrator, if you need to run a program somewhere or get another PC out of a freeze. What if there are a hundred computers and more than one, but in different buildings? Here you have to be a sprinter. And then, after a while, your legs will wear down to one place. I hope I have dispelled your doubts about the uselessness of this matter?

How remote administration works

Of course, these are not hacker things and various Trojans. Although the methods of programs used to remotely control a computer via the Internet are very similar. And they differ from viruses only in that they act openly and naturally, with the mutual consent of the owners of the PCs involved in this process.

They consist of two parts. The first is the server, the second is the client part. The server is installed on the computer that needs to be controlled, and the client part is installed on the one used by the administrator. In this respect, remote administrators are very similar to Trojan horses. But, as you understand, their goals are completely different.

You can connect to the PC where this server is installed only by knowing its IP address, as well as a password, which must be set on it in order to prevent just anyone from looking into it via the Internet. Otherwise, this “just anyone” will be able to work on your “brainchild” no worse than any Trojan.

Impact of the type of IP address and problem solving

If you have a static IP address for accessing the Internet, then there will be no problems. But if it is static, but is part of the network of a house or area, and they, in turn, have a dynamic (that is, changing from time to time) address for accessing the Internet, then difficulties may arise. Well, just if you are not a member of any network, but access the Internet using a dynamic address - the same problem.

But these problems are solvable. There are, for example, such special sites as No-Ip.com or DynDNS.com, where you can register, install an “update” program and receive through them Permanent Address: user.no-ip.com. True, these sites are in English, but if you need it, I’m sure you can find others in Russian too.

This is for information, but in general I wouldn’t bother with this. Currently, there are many ready-made programs that, each time, do this entire technical work They take it upon themselves to register the current address on their server and indicate at which address to look for your PC on the Internet.

But if there is a need for a static IP address (for example, I need it for a number of other reasons), then this can be done through your provider. For those who don’t know, an ISP is an Internet service provider. In our city in Bashinformsvyaz today connection costs 150 rubles, the monthly fee is 50 rubles. Agree, it’s not such a big amount even for pensioners.

Possibilities after remote connection

I won’t talk about the conveniences that appear after this. This was said at the very beginning when we were figuring out why it was needed. What specific opportunities are directly related to management? Here are the main ones:

  • see the desktop, or rather a copy, of the remote PC on your screen;
  • intercept control of the keyboard or mouse at any time;
  • run any programs that are installed on the managed computer and install new ones if necessary;
  • open and, if necessary, modify files;
  • download any files via the Internet in forward and reverse directions;

So, thanks remote administration we get full control of another computer via the Internet. Virtually unlimited control. Of course, this is with the full consent of his owner. Only for this you need a communication channel speed of at least 256Kbit/s and special program.

Programs for controlling another computer via the Internet

For these purposes, there are enough programs, both paid and free. I will list the most common and of course free:

  • LogMeIn Hamachi

    Allows you to connect up to 16 PCs from different parts of the world into your own virtual network via the Internet. In addition to management, there are many other possibilities, including organizing online games;
  • Ultra VNC

It can organize remote control even when all other programs are powerless, but for beginners the settings are very complicated, and there is no support for the Russian language;/li>
  • Ammyy

Externally, the program is very similar to Team Viewer. But the principle of its operation is radically different. It is tied to the PC hardware, and therefore it is enough to allow a program with a given ID to the computer once and in the future it will be able to connect to it without any requests.
  • Team Viever

First of all, this program is good because it doesn’t care whether your address is static or dynamic. Working with it, without exaggeration, is a hundred times easier than with the native “Remote Assistance” Windows. We only need to install the program on the PC that we are going to use in this process and create our account in the Team Viewer service.

Installing the Team Viewer program

There is nothing complicated here, but since my blog is intended primarily for pensioners and dummies, we will analyze it in detail and focus on some nuances. In the first window, select “Install”:

I think we can end here.

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the PenserMan blog.

Hi all! Imagine you are leaving. It doesn’t matter: to the office on the next street for a few hours, on a business trip or on vacation. But you know for sure: you may need the data that is stored on your home computer. For some reason, you can't take them with you: for example, you don't know exactly which books from your huge library you'll need, or which samples you'll want to insert into a song you write on the islands. But you will need access to your home computer.

Good news for you: humanity has long figured out how to remotely connect to a computer via the Internet. True, you need to prepare for this case in advance. In the article below we will tell you how.

2 methods will be used. The first is using standard Windows applications, and the second using third-party programs.

Remote access to a computer via the Internet using Windows

Remember the jokey lines from old Nokia instructions? Well, yes, “the phone must be turned on to use this function”? You will laugh, but we will also play Captain Obvious: in order for you to connect remotely to your computer, it must remain turned on and connected to the Internet.

But this is an obvious consideration. There are also not so clear ones: for example, the interaction between two computers - your home and the one through which you will connect - is based on the “client-server” scheme, and your home computer will act as a server, and the client will be the one you have with yourself. Before you connect to another computer via the Internet, you need to prepare both.

Let's start with home computer. Let's assume on it. It must be said that the Home version is not suitable for this function to work: you must have at least Windows 10 Pro.

The first step is to resolve remote connection to your computer. This is done using system tools: go to Control Panel/System/System Protection/Remote Access, find the line “Allow remote connection” and check the box there.

The second thing you will need is a static IP address. In the same Control Panel, you need to go to the “Network and Internet / Network Connections” section, find the adapter that is in currently is used, and call up its menu by right-clicking.

Click on “Properties”, select the line “IP version 4” and click “Properties” in the same tab. Here you need, available locally, but not used by the router (the occupied range can be found in the menu of the router itself). In the “Subnet Mask” line, you usually enter “255.255.255.0.”, and in the “Default Gateway” line - the IP of your router. It can also be entered as a DNS server, but there are options here. For example, Google public DNS addresses are also valid: 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8.

For example it could be like this:

You will also need to configure port 3389 on the router (how to do this, read the instructions for the router or in thematic discussions).

However, all manipulations from this point can be avoided if, when leaving, you completely turn off the router and leave the computer connected directly to the provider’s network. Then all you need to do is know yours and check with your provider that it will remain unchanged.

How to prepare a terminal using Windows

By “terminal” we mean the computer from which you will connect to your remote one. All you need for this is an application called “Remote Desktop”. Perhaps in your Windows versions it already exists. If not, you can download it from the Microsoft app store.

The application is made in Modern style, with touch screens in mind, but it is convenient to work with it in the traditional way. To add your home computer, you need to click the plus button in the upper right corner of the window. In the drop-down menu, select Desktop and enter your access data - local IP address, if the computer is on the same network as you, or external if you are connecting via the Internet.

To access your computer you will need your account credentials. If you are using an account Microsoft entry, enter her details. If local, enter your username and password. Click "Save" to avoid entering data every time you connect. Of course, if you are using the Remote Desktop application on someone else's computer, you do not need to save your login information on it.

At correct setting After connecting, you will be able to see the desktop of your computer in the program window and run any programs or open files from it.

We only considered the option when Windows 10 Pro is installed on the remote computer. Other versions of Windows do not have this functionality or require more fine settings. However, remote control of a computer via the Internet is also possible through universal solutions, which we will consider below.

Third party remote access tools

Although Windows has its own remote access organization, there are third party programs that do it better. Let's look at a few of the most famous of them.

TeamViewer

One of the first programs that more or less initiated people thought of when they saw the title was TeamViewer. Naturally, we will start with it.

The advantages of this program are not only well-known and popular (and, as a result, commercial success, demanding users and attentive developers, plus support). TeamViewer is a fairly simple, flexible and multifunctional solution. By and large, you don't even need a second computer to connect to your home one: an iPhone, iPad or Android device is enough. Clients exist for most mobile platforms, plus Windows, OS X and Linux.

In addition to remote desktop, the application supports voice and video calls. So, for example, if one of your family or colleagues maintains access to your computer and needs your help, you can communicate as you work directly in TeamViewer, without leaving the session or using other programs.

Your connection will be protected by 256-bit AES encryption, making it virtually useless to be intercepted.

The most valuable feature of the program, which cannot be overestimated, is the ability to turn on your home computer using a signal via the Internet. If there were hours-long power outages in your absence, no UPS will help. But TeamViewer will allow your computer to turn on when requested from outside.

And one more plus - the program is not divided into client and server part. It is enough to install a single version on both computers. And then everything is configured in a few clicks.

By and large, the program has only one drawback: cost. A license for one copy for a private user costs about $200. But if timely access to a computer is worth it, why not?

Radmin

The name of this product means “Remote Administrator”, which immediately conveys its purpose. According to their own functionality it's roughly equivalent to Team Viewer: you can remotely access your computer, turn it on and off with network commands, run programs, open files, and move data between the remote PC and the terminal.

Radmin is inferior to TeamViewer only in some aspects: it does not offer applications for mobile devices, does not provide simultaneous access to a computer from several terminals, and is not so widespread.

One of the main advantages of Radmin is the price. A single license for the program to access one computer will cost only 1,250 rubles - that’s a little more than $20: ten times cheaper than Team Viewer! At the same time, you will receive all the benefits of commercial programs: constant support,

However, if you need a completely free solution, it is there too.

UltraVNC

Yes, it exists! Free app, which works on the same principle as the above. But it provides remote access to a computer via the Internet very well.

Yes, in some aspects UltraVNC is inferior to commercial solutions. So, to provide 256-bit encryption, you will need to install a special plugin. The desktop client is only for Windows, and mobile clients exist only for Android and iOS. There is no built-in voice communication, so remote support will have to be done using Skype or regular phone, or built-in text chat.

But, on the other hand, a remote access tool for free is not such a frequent pleasure. Therefore, we recommend using UltraVNC first, and then, if some important functions are sorely lacking, turn to commercial products.
