We're sorry for the issues you're experiencing with the Mail and Calendar apps on Windows 10. To resolve the issues, try the following steps in order.

Getting Started

Before you begin, make sure your device has the latest operating system and applications. Try using general solutions, described in the article Troubleshoot the Mail and Calendar apps for Windows 10. If this doesn't help, move on to the solutions below.

Check your connection to the mail server

If you have problems sending or receiving email, make sure you have access to the mail server.

    Make sure your device is connected to the Internet. An Internet connection is required to send and receive email. Make sure your device is connected to it.

    Try sending a message via the Internet. Many email service providers allow you to use your email through their website. Log into your email account on the website and make sure you can send and receive messages through it. If this fails, there may be a problem with the mail server. Contact your email service provider.

    Try sending a message from another app or device. If you are using another mail application either another computer or mobile device, try sending and receiving mail through it. If this fails, there may be a problem with the mail server. Contact your email service provider.

    Check with your email service provider to see if the email server is running. If the provider doesn't have a website and you can't set up email in another app or device, check with the provider to see if an email server is available.

Check your security software

Firewalls and antivirus programs may prevent your email and calendar events from syncing. While we don't recommend permanently disabling such software, disabling it temporarily will help determine if it is the problem.

Note: If your device is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from performing these steps. For more information, contact your administrator.

Disable Windows Defender Security Center

Security Center Windows Defender- this is free and included in Windows composition 10. If you haven't already installed other security software, temporarily disable Windows Defender Security Center.

ATTENTION! Be sure to follow the steps above again to enable the firewall for each network profile.

Allow Mail and Calendar apps in Windows Firewall

If you're able to sync your email after turning off your firewall, you'll need to allow the Mail and Calendar apps in your firewall.

Disable third-party security software

Third-party firewalls and antivirus programs may prevent your email and calendar events from syncing. While we don't recommend permanently disabling such software, disabling it temporarily will help determine if it is the problem. Check their documentation to find out how to temporarily disable them.

WARNING.

Remove your account and add it again

In some cases, synchronization problems can be resolved by removing the account from the Mail and Calendar apps and adding it again.

Note: .

Remove the account and add it again using advanced setup

If after removal account and adding it again is still unable to sync your email, you may need to add the account using the advanced setup. See section for instructions.

If you have Google, Yahoo! iCloud, IMAP, or POP3 email account, check the settings under Advanced Options mailbox to make sure they are set up for your email service provider. If you use an Outlook.com, Office 365, or Exchange account, you won't be able to configure advanced mailbox settings unless the account is set up using Advanced Setup.

Note: There are special instructions for Yahoo! Email, iCloud and QQ accounts. If you're having problems with one of these accounts, see the special instructions for other accounts section.

Contact your email service provider for the information you need.

Before you check advanced settings, you'll need to look them up on your email service provider's website or ask your email service provider for them. You will need the following information:

    Incoming and outgoing mail server addresses.

    Incoming and outgoing mail server ports.

    Does the outgoing mail server require authentication?

    Are the same username and password used to receive and send mail?

    If the username and password are different, make sure you specify correct name user and password.

    Is SSL required for an incoming mail server?

    Is SSL required for an outgoing mail server?

    Contact server (if applicable).

    Calendar server (if applicable).

Check advanced mailbox options

If you are using an Exchange account that requires advanced settings, you must remove the account and add it again with such settings. For instructions, see Add an account using advanced setup.

Check your privacy settings

Check if two-factor authentication is enabled for your account

Two-factor authentication helps protect your account by making it more difficult for others to sign in. Your identity is verified not only through your password, but also through communication with you (and security information is provided).

The Mail and Calendar apps for Windows 10 don't support two-factor authentication. If two-factor authentication is enabled for your account, you will need to create an app password. The application password is used instead regular password apps that don't support two-factor authentication.

Contact your email service provider for information about how to create an application password for your account.

An error message appears when syncing mail

Sometimes you see an error message when you try to sync new messages or calendar events in the Mail and Calendar apps. Below is how to solve the most common problems.

Your account settings are out of date

Typically, the cause of account settings becoming out of date is an incorrect password. On the notification panel, click Fix your account. If your password is incorrect, you will be prompted to change it. Enter New Password and press the button Ready.

Advice: If you want to change your account password on your postal service(such as Gmail or iCloud), you will need to do this on the appropriate website. additional information See Change your password in the Mail app for Windows 10.

If the problem is not a password issue, you may have a certificate error. In this case, the message "A proxy security certificate error has been detected. The certification authority that issued this security certificate is not trusted."

This error often occurs when SSL is not used to secure your email account. To fix it, do the following:

The device does not meet the security requirements set by your email administrator

If you receive this error message, please read the device security requirements.

Error 0x80072726

Error 0x80072726 may be caused by a third-party firewall or antivirus program. While we don't recommend permanently disabling such programs, you can check the manufacturer's website to see if there is a workaround, or temporarily disable the software and see if that fixes the problem. If yes, contact service technical support manufacturer to learn how to access e-mail without turning off the software.

Warning: If you have disabled antivirus program, do not open attachments or click on links in messages from people you do not know.

Have additional questions?

Send us feedback

We value your opinion. If the Mail or Calendar app doesn't have the features you're looking for, or if a feature doesn't work correctly, please provide feedback to the development team.

By that time emails for notifications in mid-2011 you had to open Calendar, select the Event topic and delete all future duplicate instances. About ten events were immediately downloaded and received, and I processed them in the same way as described above.

Now I don't wonder what it is?

Attention : Manual correction Windows Live Mail won't open - is your calendar corrupted? error only Recommended for advanced computer users only. Download the automatic repair tool instead of.

The main new thing for me as a user is that now events on an open calendar can be created by selecting them with the mouse, as this has long been the case in Google Calendar. Just set aside a few days or hours and immediately create an event. Let me remind you that previously you had to click on the create event button and enter the time and date of the event manually. By the way, the mode of displaying one day, week, month and list of events (Agenda) is supported.

As before, several calendars are supported, which can have a name and color. You can display all calendars at once in a temporary field or only those you select. As with Google Calendar, you can restrict access to calendars according to the following rules:

  • only for yourself - personal;

  • available for viewing and editing by friends and family that you designate among Windows Live users (for each user, Windows user Live, you can choose a personal level of access to the calendar - viewing events, viewing only free/busy time, viewing/editing/deleting events, or appoint a co-owner of the calendar with full rights to change and delete it);

  • available to everyone to whom you send a specially generated link - available only for viewing and allows viewing without a Windows Live account (to display the calendar outside the Windows Live Calendar service, export to HTML formats, ICS and XML);

  • full access for viewing to any Internet user, the calendar is indexed search engines(interestingly, here you can allow viewing either your events, or only busy and free time).

To import existing calendars, ICS format files are used, which can be sent to all calendar programs and services, although be prepared to lose cyclic events during such import.

As for regional settings, they provide everything to make the Russian-speaking user most comfortable:

  • Russian interface language;

  • select any time zone;

  • selection of 24-hour time display format;

  • task the first day of the week is Monday;

  • choosing the start of the working day and weekends;

  • setting the default calendar.

The highlight of Windows Live Calendar are the so-called social events. These are regular calendar events that are sent to invited individuals via email. Moreover, you can choose a holiday template for your letter depending on the type of event as well. indicate the location of the meeting and write an invitation in the WYSIWYG editor!

The person who received the invitation will be redirected to a virtual sheet, where he can see how many people are planned and give his answer (it is not necessary to have a Live account).

As a result, we can say that Windows Live Calendar is no longer the former dominator of the online calendar sector. We have two products with incredible usability and a huge feature set that use their sister services so fully that they are the ultimate online time management applications.

As you probably already know, the latest cumulative operating system updates Windows systems 10 not only did not make any noticeable improvements to the system, but also “broke” applications such as Mail, Calendar and People. Since Microsoft itself remains deathly silent on this matter, users themselves are looking for ways to solve this problem. There are two options available to you.

Method one:

  1. Press CTRL + Shift + ESC to open Task Manager.
  2. Click File > Start New Task.
  3. Make sure you have the "Create this task with administrative privileges" checked.
  4. Enter the command CMD and press "Enter".
  5. IN command line enter the following commands:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If the commands above completed and did not lead to a solution, run the following commands:

  1. At the command prompt, enter the command PowerShell and press "Enter"
  2. Then paste the command Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach (Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml") and press "Enter"

Method two:

  1. Download the "Show or hide updates" utility from the link.
  2. Remove KB3081436. The computer will restart during the removal process.
  3. Check for updates - an installation message will appear KB3081436.
  4. Without installing the update, run the utility. Select menu "Hide updates" and in the list that opens, check the box next to KB3081436. Click Next. The system will display a message - the update has been fixed. Close the utility.
  5. Since the Update Center remains ready for installation KB3081436, select a different installation time and restart your computer.
  6. Next, go to Update Center > Additional. Settings > Update history > Uninstall updates, if KB3081436 is present, uninstall again. After reboot, check for updates.
  7. To restore updates, select the option " Show hide updates".

Sometimes Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk and others errors system errors LNK could be related to issues in the Windows registry. Several programs can use the Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk file, but when those programs are uninstalled or modified, sometimes "orphaned" (incorrect) LNK registry entries are left behind.

Basically, this means that while the actual path of the file may have changed, its incorrect former location is still recorded in the Windows Registry. When Windows tries to look up these incorrect file references (file locations on your PC), Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk errors can occur. Additionally, a malware infection may have corrupted Windows-related registry entries. Thus, these corrupted LNK registry entries need to be fixed to fix the problem at the root.

Manually editing the Windows registry to remove invalid Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk keys is not recommended unless you are PC service professional. Mistakes made when editing the registry can lead to inoperability of your PC and cause irreparable damage to your operating system. In fact, even one comma placed in the wrong place can prevent your computer from booting!

Because of this risk, we highly recommend using a trusted registry cleaner such as WinThruster (Developed by Microsoft Gold Certified Partner) to scan and repair any Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk-related registry problems. Using a registry cleaner, you can automate the process of finding corrupted registry entries, missing file references (like the one causing the Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk error), and broken links within the registry. Before each scan, a backup copy is automatically created, allowing you to undo any changes with one click and protecting you from possible damage to your computer. The best part is that eliminating registry errors can dramatically improve system speed and performance.

Warning: Unless you are an experienced PC user, we DO NOT recommend manually editing the Windows Registry. Incorrect use of Registry Editor can lead to serious problems and demand Windows reinstallation. We do not guarantee that problems resulting from incorrect use of Registry Editor can be corrected. You use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Before manually restoring Windows registry, you need to create a backup by exporting a portion of the registry associated with Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk (eg Windows):

  1. Click on the button Begin.
  2. Enter " command" V search bar... DON'T CLICK YET ENTER!
  3. While holding down the keys CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, press ENTER.
  4. A dialog box for access will be displayed.
  5. Click Yes.
  6. The black box opens with a blinking cursor.
  7. Enter " regedit" and press ENTER.
  8. In the Registry Editor, select the Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk-related key (eg. Windows) you want to back up.
  9. On the menu File select Export.
  10. On the list Save to select the folder where you want to save the backup Windows key.
  11. In field File name enter the name of the backup file, for example " Windows backup copy".
  12. Make sure the field Export range value selected Selected branch.
  13. Click Save.
  14. The file will be saved with extension .reg.
  15. You now have a backup of your Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk-related registry entry.

The following steps when manually editing the registry will not be described in this article, since high probability may damage your system. If you would like more information about editing the registry manually, please check out the links below.
