Superuser rights on any Xiaomi smartphone model provide wide functionality for properly configuring your mobile device. In this case, the user receives a huge number of advantages, starting from removing unnecessary programs, which, as a rule, do nothing except consume resources, ending with changing the interface and making adjustments to the system to eliminate advertising in applications. Using a device from a Chinese brand as an example, the algorithm of actions is large, but not very complicated. Therefore, next we will consider the complete step by step instructions how to root your smartphone.

All manipulations performed are carried out at your discretion.

In short - what needs to be done

  • If you are a "weekly" user software, then superuser rights can be obtained in the phone settings from the “Permissions” section, where this option can also be activated for specific applications, which significantly increases the security of your gadget. If you use standard software, use another method;
  • Smartphones manufactured after 2015 first require unlocking the bootloader, which ensures the security of the OS from hackers gaining access;
  • Phones developed before 2015 use open access in recovery (the previous point can be ignored). Proceed to download TWRP Extended;
  • Upon completion of the installation, you should reinstall a special archive that adds superuser rights to the system for smartphones of all lines.

  2. After clicking on the command, a registration window will appear in the middle of the page. Below there is an option to change the language by clicking on the word English;
  3. In each line you must leave your account information, with your phone number starting with +7;
  4. Once logged into your account, a menu will open asking you to submit an application. It is worth noting that if the site is still displayed in Chinese, then all the information should not be in Russian either. In the case of the English version, all areas should be filled in Latin letters without spaces;
  5. You can get a foreign language version of your name using a standard translator. It is enough to set the correct translation in the required parameters. Select and copy the result to the topmost field;

  10. By the specified number a message will be received with a digital sequence, which must be entered in the appropriate field, and then press the left button;

In the case of Mi 4 and Mi versions Note Pro, in which MIUI 8 is initially present, and you can also go to the bootloader menu, you need to reinstall the Chinese version of the software, and then proceed to unlock to install superuser rights;
  2. Once you receive permission, you must log into your account and perform any actions. It is recommended to find your model in the assortment, go to the forums, leaving several messages. Be sure to activate all services, showing maximum activity;
  3. Download and unzip the MiFlashUnlock application on your PC, having previously downloaded it from the official resource;

If the program does not interact with your smartphone, go to the “Advanced” settings section, then “For Developers” and activate USB debugging. I’ll describe the steps step by step: 1) Unlock the bootloader - it’s worth noting that the process itself is not complicated, but in the near future I will describe how to do this. 2) Install a modified recovery (TWRP). 3) Obtain root rights, install SuperSU accordingly. In the near future the full process of Unlock will be described) Xiaomi devices via the official website en.miui.com

The root bootloader of the MIUI system is locked for security reasons - thus Xiaomi smartphones protect their system from possible intrusions by third-party software. Initially, the system itself does not provide access to the registry. The MIUI add-on cannot be disturbed by any program, so the buyer can be confident in the security of the device.

However, many advanced users need access to all system parameters - for various visual changes, for flashing and customizing the smartphone, as well as for many others special settings about which a common person doesn't even think about it. Obtaining Root Xiaomi system rights is significantly different from a similar operation for “pure” Android systems. We'll tell you everything in the instructions below.

Despite the fact that the operation of obtaining Root rights is relatively simple, by establishing such access to the device, you must understand that you are losing the warranty on the device and removing custom system protection - now every action in the root directories will directly affect the operation of the entire Android. so you must be clearly aware of every step you take.

Benefits of being a “superuser”

“Superuser” is the Russian abbreviation for SuperSU, a program that gives you the rights to unlock and switch to superuser mode.

The advantages are mainly engineering. For example, root rights allow you to remove system restrictions on parameters such as sound volume or screen brightness - if in your device all this is initially calibrated to some average values, the firmware will allow you to change factory settings that were previously unavailable.

Using the firmware, you can overclock the processor, install many unofficial applications on the gadget, or, for example, disable some system settings. The multi-user function is also popular, when several profiles are created on a smartphone with their own system settings.

How to find out if my smartphone is locked

First of all, make sure that on your smartphone operating system MIUI versions. Recently, a popular trend for Xiaomi has been the release of its flagships on a “pure” Android system - such as, for example, the A1, Redmi S2 and Mi Mix 2S. In this case, you do not need the steps described below.

To find out if your bootloader is unlocked, go to “Settings”, where you will find the columns “Advanced” => “For Developers”. The “Mi Unlock Status” item is responsible for this. If the item is active, then the smartphone is not blocked.

There is an even simpler way to check - just restart your smartphone. If “Bootloader Unlock” appears at the bottom of the screen, then root rights have already been obtained.

If there is no inscription, we proceed in the following order:

Important! Write data in English. Write the number starting with +7.

Your phone is now unlocked to install third party software. It's time to move on to obtaining Root rights.

Applications for Root rights

We will need only three applications - one of them is official from Xiaomi (Kenzo-flash), the other two have long been used to update systems in various gadgets.

Instructions for obtaining Root rights for Xiaomi

Root rights have been obtained, now you can change system settings your smartphone.

Process differences for different models

The MIUI shell is developing in parallel with Android updates, and therefore for different models Smartphones used to have different instructions. Co Xiaomi time themselves took the initiative to unify the process of unlocking a smartphone and made general program Kenzo-flash, which allows you to flash all smartphones officially available for sale. But Twrp and SuperSU often don’t keep up with updates - and therefore it’s worth checking on the website of these programs to see if the firmware is available for your smartphone model. For example, the new Redmi Note 5 line is not there yet.

For convenience, we have divided all devices into several categories - depending on Android versions and MIUI installed in them. Similar versions are interchangeable, and therefore the instructions for them are identical.

It is also worth noting that today Super SU contains all the above-mentioned versions of devices, and therefore there will be no differences in obtaining Root rights for them - the application combines all versions in each new update. Only the latest models are at risk, so you should look for them on the Twrp website before downloading the utility.

But models like Xiaomi A1 or Redmi S2 come with “pure” Android on board, so the “unlock” procedure for them is radically different.

Mission completed

To find out if your device is now unlocked, simply restart the device and the message “Bootloader Unlock” will appear at the bottom of the boot screen. If the inscription does not appear, there is another way to check .

To do this, turn off the smartphone, connect it to the computer using a cable, hold down the volume down and power buttons and on the computer go to the “Start” tab, where in the status bar write the “cmd” function to call the command line.

On the black screen that appears, enter “Adb”, after which we register the fastboot oem device-info function.

The screen will display Device unlocked: true (if the device is unlocked) / Device unlocked: false (if not unlocked).

Root rights to Xiaomi allow you to seriously change the parameters of your smartphone, but in reality not everyone needs it. Therefore, think about whether it is worth logging into the system in order to obtain some minor visual or sound changes - the consequences may be irreversible.
