so advanced file manager, that its capabilities could well be the envy of the creators of operating systems released up to the middle 90 -s. Assembly Total Commander with portable software for various needs on board can eliminate the need to implement third-party software into the system. Such assemblies are mostly equipped with free software. Other advantages include no risk when installing on Windows BY from dubious sources.

And with potentially unwanted software in addition, less disk clutter WITH And system registry, lack of third-party software services in startup. And, of course, there are fewer steps in the process of reinstalling Windows itself.

One of the specifics of Total Commander is autonomous operation with associated software. The file manager is configured to work with its own file associations that are different from Windows. Whereas in Windows Explorer files by double click will be played using the same programs, inside the same files will be opened using others. Portable file manager with own programs by default can become stable and independent of Windows environment (including those portable on a flash drive) for working with content stored on a computer disk. Some builds with portable software on board are initially supplied with file associations already configured. In these builds, the most commonly used file extensions are configured to be opened by portable programs that come with the build. How to set it up "clean" editors of Total Commander to interact with their programs by default?

Both installed and portable programs you can associate with files inside Total Commander by setting a selection on the file required format and selecting the item in the menu.

The format of the selected file will be displayed in the window that opens. (in our case it is " .txt») . Click.

If one of the programs needs to be associated with several file formats, at the first stage click not , but .

And manually enter file extensions separated by a space, placing them in front of each extension asterisk And point, as shown in the screenshot below. Click "OK".

Assemblies with portable software included, they can offer file association settings at the installation stage file manager.

When working with a computer, you most often have to perform the same type of operations: creating files and folders, copying them, moving them, deleting them. For these purposes, you can use the best file Total manager Commander, but, as practice shows, most users use the ordinary built-in Windows Explorer for these purposes. Of course, Explorer of modern Windows operating systems has great capabilities and a convenient interface, but still, it is a basic program designed to perform only basic operations with files. If you want to optimize your work with files, make it more productive and faster, you should use special software. And here the Total Commander file manager comes first. This is not just a program for working with files, but when used correctly, it is a computer control center.

This article will not complete guide according to the TC program, there are other sites for this, in particular, official sites www.ghisler.com And wincmd.ru.

My task is to show the capabilities of a file manager to optimize work on a computer.

To work with the program, you need to download and install it. To download, go to the Russian-language website of the program wincmd.ru and download the latest version.

Despite the fact that the program is paid, it continues to work even after the end of the test period.

Vehicle setup

Immediately after installation, you can already work with the manager, but it is still better to make some settings. Having mastered the program, everyone customizes it individually, “for themselves.” I want to tell you some “secrets” that will help you save time in the future.

To open the settings window, run the commands Configuration – Settings.

As you can see, there are quite a lot of items in the settings list. Most of them can be left unchanged. I will write about those that I propose to change.

Customizing the appearance

First of all, after installing Total Commander I enter minor changes in appearance programs.

For example, I don't like the default bold font in panels. To change it, go to the tab Fonts and choose the one you like.

I also remove the square brackets around the folder names Settings – Panel Contents – Show square brackets around file names.

On the first tab View windows I check all the boxes.

You can change the appearance of the buttons on the toolbar Configuration – Toolbar.

Column Sets tab

In each vehicle panel, information is presented in the form of columns (Name, Type, Size, Date...). The program allows you to work with columns: add, remove, change, create ready-made sets of columns. For example, if the directory contains photographs, we are interested in some data about the files, and if there are text documents, then in others. You can make several ready-made sets of speakers and easily right-click to switch them.

Basic Operations Tab

Here I recommend checking the box When changing disks, always go to the root directory. It is also more convenient to select with the mouse Left button (as is customary in Windows).

On the tab Quick search I select an item Letter only. Then, if there are many files in the directory, you can press the first letter of the file name on the keyboard and it will switch to files starting with this letter.

On the tab Miscellaneous I want to draw your attention to the first section Request confirmation when:.

If you uncheck all the boxes, operations will be performed faster, without opening an additional window, but you may miss some errors. Therefore, think about which boxes to remove and which to leave.

File Operations Panel

As already mentioned, the main purpose of the file manager is to work with files, so the main commands are presented in the form of buttons and hotkeys are assigned to them. Let's go through these buttons.

Button F3View Launches special program Lister to view files. I usually don't use this button. It is difficult to achieve correct display of files with one program different types. You can configure the launch with the F3 button external program, corresponding to the file type, for example, for psd-run files Photoshop, but it seemed inconvenient to me, I use a different method.

The next two buttons are used for file transfer operations. What's special here? Total Commander allows you to perform copy and move operations one at a time. What is the advantage of this method? If you need to move several large files, let's say video, then normal Conductor performs these operations simultaneously, and the process takes a long time. The speed drops significantly, especially if reading occurs from one physical medium. The vehicle performs them in turn, and the information transmission channels are not overloaded. You can perform other actions at this time.

Working with archives

Another advantage of TS is that it works with archives just like with regular directories. You can go to the archive, see in the manager panel what files are in it, add new files to the archive, etc. Archiving and unarchiving occurs automatically.

I like this feature of Total Commander the most. But first, an old joke about a lady with a purse.

In general, it went like this:
Court.
— Defendant, why did you kill the woman?
— I’m riding on a bus, the conductor approaches a woman, demanding to buy a ticket. The woman opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, took out her wallet, closed her wallet, opened her handbag, put her wallet in, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, took out money, opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, put her wallet in , closed the purse, opened the purse, put the purse there.
- And what?
— The controller gave her a ticket. The woman opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, took out her wallet, closed her wallet, opened her handbag, put her wallet in, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, put a ticket in there, closed her wallet, opened her handbag, took out her wallet, closed her handbag, opened her wallet, put the wallet there, closed the wallet, opened the purse, put the wallet there, closed the purse. “Take your change,” came the controller’s voice. The woman... opened her purse...
“It’s not enough to kill her for this,” the prosecutor can’t resist.
- So I did it :))).

This is approximately what we do when we need to open a folder using Windows Explorer. If you have to open a folder often, but it is located somewhere deep, then it is tiring and annoying.

In the TS, such directories can be made favorites, similar to browsers. Click on the button with an asterisk (or Ctrl+D) - and here is a list of the most visited directories.

And next to it is another interesting button (Alt+down arrow), which opens the history of recent visits.

This is precisely the element of the manager that makes it a computer control panel. The panel contains various buttons that can be removed or added, that is, customized at your discretion.

For example, you can display buttons for the most frequently used programs and launch them directly from the vehicle. This is done simply. Open the folder with the program and drag the program icon to the toolbar. Now the same file can be easily opened different programs. Let's say files with the extension .jpg by default open by the program FastStone Image Viewer and by dragging it onto the icon PS, you can open it for processing, or files .NEW by default open by the program Adobe Lightroom, and by dragging them you can open them in the viewer.

Can be added to command buttons from the manager’s huge list. Let's look at this using the example of adding a button to show hidden and system files.

Open the settings window Configuration - Toolbar

Press the button Add and open the list of commands by clicking on the search button.

To find the command you need, go to the window let's start introducing keyword. All I had to do was dial skr. The command we need is number 2011. Click Ok, select the appropriate icon, and again Ok.

Now the panel has a button that allows you to quickly turn on and off the display of hidden and system files and folders.

In this way, you can customize the toolbar in a way that suits you.

Another way to save time is to use hotkeys. In addition to the default ones, you can customize the keys for the commands you need. The settings window opens upon command Setup – Miscellaneous.

Another interesting feature of the manager is to show all files located in folders, without the folders themselves. This is sometimes necessary when you need to select some files from many directories. IN Conductor To do this, you would have to open and close all directories (see the joke above), in Total Commandere you just need to click on the button Show all files without subdirectories (Ctrl+B) and all files will be visible. They can be sorted as if they were in the same folder, copied, etc.

I use this function to rename photos. After shooting digital camera the pictures have unintelligible names, for example, SDC13191.jpg. To quickly rename them, select all the necessary files and execute the commands File - Bulk Rename (Ctrl+M).

The renaming window opens, in which you can create a mask for the new name.

Thumbnail images

By default, all files in the manager are shown with icons, but for those who work with photographs or drawings, it is convenient to see thumbnails of the images. In the file manager, this feature is enabled with the command View - Thumbnail View. I moved this button to to switch faster. Thumbnail sizes can be adjusted in the settings window.

Another useful feature of the TS is the opening of several tabs in the panel. A new tab is opened with the combination Ctrl+T. Using tabs, you can open several directories at once and easily navigate between them.

And one more helpful advice: to open a folder in the adjacent panel, click Ctrl+left/right arrow.

How to learn to manage your time effectively. Be able to distribute it so that the really important things that move us forward are done first, and only then everything else?

You can take books on time management, but, unfortunately, most of these books were written a long time ago and do not take into account the modern rhythm of life and the availability of modern cloud-based task management tools with synchronization between all your devices.

I offer you more interesting solution as new job Evgenia Popova, which was named.

This concludes my review, which turned out to be quite long. I hope you found it useful, but in fact, this is only a small part of the useful functions of the program. Only after trying to work with Total Commander will you be convinced that it really is the best file manager, and once you master it, you will learn even more different tricks.

Total Commander- one of the most popular file managers, dating back to the distant 90s. Even earlier this program had Windows name Commander, but under pressure from developers Windows systems, was renamed to the name it has today.

It’s worth saying right away that the Total Commander program is paid. Its price is $34, but without buying it, we will still be able to use it even after a month, only every time you load it in a special window, the program will ask you to press the number 1, 2 or 3.

I have previously touched on the Total Commander program in my lessons and articles. I talked about and also described its most important advantages in the article:.

Here I will not describe in detail what this program is, how to install it, and why it is needed, since for this I wrote the above materials.

In this article I will describe, how to configure Total Commander immediately after installation. What you need to do for comfortable work, and what you should do at your own discretion and taste, and what you need to know to work more productively on the computer using this wonderful program.

After launching Total Commander for the first time, you will immediately notice that the program interface is divided into two parts, which display a list of files. We can work with disks here. We select the disk we need, and the entire list of files that are located in this location opens. It's the same on the other side.

We can open the drive on one side (C:) and on the other (D:) and calmly move the files by selecting them and pressing the F6 key on the keyboard, or the “F6 Move” button.

In the window that opens, confirm by clicking the “OK” button.

Files from one folder on the drive (D:) have been moved to the root of the drive (C:).

Thus, you can move and copy anything to any folders from any drives. In general, the same thing as we did with standard Windows Explorer, went to My Computer then to HDD, then found the desired file or folder there that needs to be moved to another location and the last step was to indicate where exactly it needed to be moved. It's the same thing here, only everything is much simpler.

We select on the left what we need to move or copy, and on the right we open the place where these files and folders will be placed and press F5 or F6, depending on what we need to copy or move.

At the very top of Total Commander there is a menu, like in all other programs. Below it is a toolbar, by default there are a couple of programs - built-in FTP client, archiver, notepad and more. There are also several useful buttons - forward back through folders, file display type and some more.

At the bottom of the program there is Command line, well, this is for those who have already worked with it. I rarely use it to be honest.

Under command line the buttons that we have already touched upon, a hotkey is immediately indicated next to each of them. These buttons are mainly responsible for working with folders and files. You can copy, move, delete, edit, create new folders.

I like the way files with folders are displayed in the left and right columns. There is a list of files and folders, they all have their own name, next to them are indicated: type, size, date, attributes. Conveniently enough, this view is called Detailed.

The list of files may have a different look, perhaps you like one of them more. I will only list them, and below I will show how this view can be changed.

Brief - in this form, all content is displayed in several columns, and there is nothing next to the title. All that remains is the name and extension.

Comments – similar to the Detailed mode, but here you will also see one column where you can see a comment for each file or folder, if any.

View thumbnails- V this mode Instead of a list of files, we get a display of all folders and files with large icons. I use it when sorting photos. See for yourself:

Directory tree– files and folders will be in the form of a tree. Look, you will understand everything:

You can select any of the types through the “View” menu, and there we already indicate the one we need.

Total Commander has quite a lot various functions, plus over the years of the program’s existence, a bunch of different additions have appeared. It’s not possible to cover everything in one article, but I’ll tell you the main points.

At the very bottom there are seven buttons that we have touched on more than once - View, Edit, Copy, Move, Directory, Delete, Exit. Each has a hotkey.

Total Commander has in its arsenal an application for viewing files. You need to select the file and press F3 on the keyboard, or the “F3 View" button in the program.

When viewing a text file, you can only see what kind of text is there; you cannot edit it. For this there are other applications about them further.

The F4 hotkey or the “F4 Edit” button is responsible for editing text documents. Select the file, press F4, the file opens for editing in a regular notepad installed in the system by default.

But you can change the opening text files for editing, by default from notepad to another text editor, for example on Notepad. I use it exactly and I want that when I press the “F4 Edit” button, the file for editing will open in Notepad. This can be done.

You need to go into the Total Commander settings. Go to the menu " Configuration - Settings».

Go to the “Edit/View” section. Specify the path to installed program Notepad. Then save using the “OK” button.

Let's try to open it now Text Document via the F4 key. It opens in Notepad, and not as before in a standard notepad.

The F5 and F6 buttons are already familiar to you. We know that they are responsible for moving and copying selected files from one panel to the next.

By selecting a file and pressing the F6 key, you can not only move it, but also rename it. To do this, select the file name that we want to change, then press F6, delete the moving path and write a new file name. Then click “OK”.

In this case, it will not move anywhere, but will simply be renamed and remain in the same place.

Using the “F7 Directory” button you can create a new folder. Let's stand in that place hard drive, where it should appear new folder, press F7, enter the name and click “OK”. The folder has been created.

Selected objects are deleted using F8.

Selected files in Total Commander can be distinguished from regular ones by the fact that the selected ones are red.

To select several files at once, you need hold down the Ctr key and start clicking on the objects you want to select. This can also be done with a space. Select the file, press the space bar, and do the same with the others that need to be selected.

In addition to highlighting with a space folder size is calculated. If this folder weighs a lot and there is a decent number of files there, then you will have to wait a few seconds for the calculation.

The next convenient feature in Total Commander that I would like to talk about is tab support.

As you can see, I have three tabs open at once. On this moment I’m in the “shortcut” tab, I can go to “downloads” or “web-master”, I have other folders open there. You can open as many tabs as you like.

You can create a tab by pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctr+T. It is very convenient to use them if we constantly have to move from one folder to another. Also new tab can be created by clicking right click by the one that already exists, and in the list that appears, selecting the item “ Open a copy of the tab».

And when a copy of the tab opens, you can go to it and open the folder you need there. You can quickly switch between tabs using the keyboard shortcut Ctr+Tab. By the way, after closing the program and launching it again, the tabs retain their previous location. So keep that in mind.

Now let's talk about archiving in Total Commander. To pack some files or folders into an archive, you first need to select them, and then click the menu “ Files – Pack».

A window with file packaging settings will appear. Here we can see the path where the archive will be placed. There is not much to change here, except for the format in which we want to receive the archive. We choose RAR or ZIP, others are rarely used.

But Total Commander itself can only work with ZIP; if we want RAR, then a program must be installed separately on the computer, for example WinRAR. You also need to select it through the “Settings” button.

Specify the folder with the installed archiver. Click "OK".

Click “OK” when everything is configured.

Unpacking the archive is no more difficult. Select it with the mouse and click " Files – Unzip" In the window that opens, click “OK”.

Like the standard Windows Explorer, Total Commander also has its own search. And it is much more convenient and functional. You can launch it by clicking on the binoculars icon or through the menu “ Commands – Search Files».

We open the search built into Total Commander. This is what he looks like.

On the " Common parameters» you can set basic settings.

In field File name we need to enter the name of the file we want to find. There is also an arrow nearby, by clicking on which we will see what we were already looking for earlier. We also need to indicate where exactly we want to search. You can select a folder or the entire disk at once. By checking the box next to “ Search also in archives", the search will still be carried out in the archives. This feature is not available in standard Windows Explorer. To start the search, click the “Start search” button.

You can also search for specific text in text files using this search. I use this function most often when developing websites; you may find it useful for something else.

We indicate the folder or drive, then enter the text that you want to find and click “Start search”.

The search function will try to find all files where this text occurs, examining all text files that will be located in the folder or disk specified by you.

To be honest, this is only a small part what Total Commander can do and it has much more settings. You just can’t fit everything into one lesson, the main thing is to start using this program.

Over time, you will learn all its convenient features and configure Total Commander to suit your needs.

Surely, many of you have had to use file managers. The most popular of this kind of programs is undoubtedly Total Commander. It has enormous functionality and an incredibly user-friendly interface that you can customize individually.

I won't describe every setting element. I will only touch on those that, in my opinion, can really be useful for many users. We will look at the configuration features using the example of the version 8.01 , which is the most relevant at the moment.

To open the menu settings Total Commander, you need to select Configuration --> Setting... After this, a window will open containing a large number of different tabs.

Window view

The tab allows you to configure components of the main Total Commander window. A check mark placed in front of each element, respectively, turns on the display of this element interface.

Toolbar– this is a special panel located under the main menu of Total Commander. Contains a number keys, which may be useful during your work.

Drive buttons– in my opinion, a very useful interface element. Located below the toolbar and contains buttons for all devices installed on your system ( hard disks, physical, virtual drives, flash drives, external media). It is convenient because you can switch between disks using the mouse pointer.

Two dial button panels– Drive panels appear above both panels in Total Commander.

Flat– disabling this element makes the disk buttons voluminous.

Disc selection window– the element is located below the dial buttons. Allows you to select a drive from a drop-down menu.

Folder Tabs– the element allows you to open several tabs at once within one panel. You can switch between tabs using either the mouse pointer or hotkeys Ctrl + Tab , Shift + Ctrl + Tab .

File panel title (with current name)– the element is located below the folders tab. Contains complete path to the folder from which you are currently viewing files. The path can be copied using the mouse pointer.

Tab headers– in other words, column headings with characteristics of the files being viewed (name, type, size, date).

Status bar– located at the bottom of the Total Commander window. Contains information about size selected files/folders, general quantity files/folders at this level.

Function key buttons– located at the very bottom. Serve to perform operations over files/folders (view, edit, copy, move, create directory, exit). Each button has a label containing a hotkey associated with it. Those. You can control it with both the mouse and the keyboard.

Flat interface– when turned on, some elements seem to merge with each other.

Show hidden/system files– turns on the display hidden files, which is often useful.

Long file names– the setting is necessary for the correct display of long file names, as well as Cyrillic characters in names.

Show square brackets around folder names– I personally find this setting incredibly annoying.

Sorting method- feel free to put it alphabetically.

Sorting directories– it’s better to set As files, otherwise the folders will not be organized.

Tabulators

Here interesting settings only:

Display the number of folders below– will be displayed in the status bar.

Dimensions in panels + In the status bar– sets the format for displaying file/folder sizes. It all depends on the user's preferences. For me, for example, it is convenient to display it in the form floating (x.x K/M/G)– the size is displayed in kilobytes/megabytes/gigabytes, rounded to the nearest tenth.

Folder Tabs

Place tabs in multiple rows– when the setting is enabled, the tabs are arranged in several rows one below the other. If the setting is turned off, then you will have to scroll through the tabs using special arrows.

Open a new tab next to the current one– some may find it convenient.

Mark locked tabs with a star *- any tab can be blocked using context menu called by the mouse. In this case, when you try to close this tab, the program will ask you for confirmation to delete the tab.

Basic Operations

Ban simultaneous launch several copies of TotalCmd– when the setting is disabled, multiple copies of the program can be launched. Sometimes such a need arises.

When renaming, highlight only the file name– very convenient, no need to perform additional actions to avoid editing extensions.

Mouse selection– I personally prefer the left button.

Quick search

Search the current directory– sets the file search method. Those. You start typing the name on the keyboard, and Total Commander finds the files. In my opinion, the most convenient way is Letter only.

I see no point in considering the remaining settings. If someone needs it, I think they can figure it out themselves.

There are some more Total Commander interface settings available through the menu. On the menu View You can select the type of display of the panel columns (short, detailed, comments, custom set of columns).

Menu View --> Panels one above the other allows you to change the location of Total Commander panels relative to each other.

You can also organize the display of files (by name, type, date/time, size, no sorting).

It is convenient to switch between panels using hotkey Tab. Source selection is also possible using Alt + F1(for the left panel) and Alt + F2(for the right one).

With help Alt + F7 starts search files. You can ask mask, if you know what specific file format you are looking for, in the form *.format. Using this mask, all files of the format will be found format. You can specify a specific search location (I mean a folder), you can search in all local disks, for something specific.

On the search tab Additionally you can set the interval dates, within which the required file was created. Here you can also set size, relative to which the search will be performed.

Selection files are produced by pressing a key Space. At the same time, the size of the selected files/folders is calculated. Very useful feature contained in the menu Selection--> section Copy. You can simply copy file names, as well as full paths to files, to the clipboard.

Sometimes another function is useful - Files --> Change attributes . It allows you to set the attributes of the selected files, as well as change the date the file was created/modified.

As a result, now you and I know how powerful a file manager Total Commander is. And I have not yet described all of its capabilities.

In this lesson we will talk about the program Total Commander. This is the most effective, easy to manage and indispensable file manager, which for many users has become both necessary in working with files and an indispensable attribute in building a website.

As always, I recommend downloading Total Commander current version from the official website page. At the time of writing, the trial version on the manufacturer’s website is current Total version Commander 8.01 is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I use portable version Commander's total 7.5.

It should be noted that the trial version is endless free version. After all, after the expiration of the free month of use, it is not blocked. Just press one of the three numbers (1, 2 or 3) and after counting down the seconds, Total Commander will start. There will be no restrictions on functionality.

So, let's take a closer look at Total Commander:

Total Commander - description of functions

Total Commander was originally created to work with files. We will have two windows on the screen with a list of folders and files; we can simultaneously see two drives, for example C and D. Moreover, viewing or searching for files and folders, as well as dragging them between drives, is much more convenient than using the built-in Windows Explorer.

You can change disks with the mouse or keyboard by pressing Alt+F1 or Alt+F2 for the left and right panels of the total, respectively. Or select disks on the top panel:

The two-pane view makes it much easier to copy or move files. In one panel we set where to copy from - in the other panel where to copy.

At the bottom there is a panel where the main operations and hotkeys for these operations are labeled. Moving between two panels is done using the TAB key.

Let's go over the settings of this file manager, where you can tweak and embellish a lot of things. To do this, you will need to select “Configuration” - “Settings” from the top menu. The first tab contains some of the most important settings that determine appearance and functionality file manager windows:

As you can see, everything is simple here. It will be enough to uncheck or check the box, then click on the “Apply” button and the changes will be made. I think you will figure out the settings yourself.

Key features of Total Commander

Total Commander allows you to sort, delete, copy and view information about all files located on your computer or on a user-friendly way. network drives. But besides this, Total Commander can and has a lot of useful things:

(Alt+F7) is in many ways superior to similar search tools operating system. Webmasters will find it especially useful to search by file content or search the desired file in the folders of the site engine (Joomla), which generates HTML code one or another section of a web page. This helps me a lot when searching for a piece of code to edit.

If you search for files in Russian, do not forget to check the “UTF 8” box.

(CTRL+F) the file manager integrated into this allows you to connect to your site via the FTP protocol and work with its files exactly as if they were on your computer. To select a connection, just press CTRL+F, and if you have not configured a single connection yet, then in the window that opens, simply click on the “Add” button.

The settings are not much different from what I described FileZilla, but according to information from the Internet, Total Commander has a problem with password security. That's why I use filezilla.

3. Show all files without subdirectories(Ctlr+B) - if you are too lazy to climb through all the subfolders of a folder open in one of the Total Commander panels, then you can use this function. If desired, you can then copy (move) all these files to a folder open on the adjacent panel.

4. Group renaming(Ctlr+M) - select on any panel the required number of files that will need to be renamed using a specific mask. The tool is very sophisticated and you can use it to create miracles:

5. Internal associations- available from the "Files" menu. All files that you open from Total Commander using a double click can be associated (customize their opening) with any programs on your computer. And this can be done contrary to what associations you have configured in the system.

6. You can pack, (Alt+F5) unpack(Alt+F9) and check(Alt+Shift+F9) archives using archive plugins installed in the file manager. You can enter archives like regular folders, which is very convenient.

7. In the View menu you can configure various ways display files and folders. By default, the detailed mode is used, but, in my opinion, the “short” mode is less stressful on the brain. To view image previews, you can use the “View Thumbnails” mode (their size is set in the Total Commander settings). Of course, to view and work with photos it would be better to use specialized programs (for example, the free XnView browser), but sometimes it is not advisable to launch a separate application for this.

This is a minimal review main features of Total Commander (Total Commander).

We connect the Notepad++ editor for editing by default in Total Commander (Total Commander)

As I already said, the best editor text files is Notepad++. How to make it the default editor in Total Commander. It's simple. Let's go to top menu in Configuration – Settings. We are looking for Edit/View.

Select the Editor Program. A path selection window will open where you need to find Notepad++ (for me in C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe) and select the program file itself

Now editing both by default and by pressing F4 will occur in Notepad ++

So let's summarize. All that I have told you is only a small fraction of the enormous possibilities that have Total Commander. Proper setup of Total Commander gives you so many opportunities that it will take you to study them certain time. Russian help can be read online http://flint-inc.ru/tchelp/, a community of fans (with lots of tips) can be found at wincmd.ru.
