A special emergency response service is aimed primarily at older people. The main advantages are an integrated approach, ease of use for the user and professionalism of those receiving the alarm call.

The “Life Button” project was developed by Skolkovo business school graduates Dmitry Yurchenko and Irina Linnik. In 2011, he became the winner of the special nomination BIT (“Business of Innovative Technologies”) within the framework of the “Telecom Idea” competition established by MTS. The project has developed into an independent business, with which MTS cooperates as a partner. Currently, the users of the “Life Button” are about ten thousand subscribers in the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, the republics of Bashkiria and Tatarstan, in Novosibirsk, Volgograd and Perm. Project website.

April 15 OJSC Mobile TeleSystems" and Knopka Zhizni LLC signed a memorandum on the joint implementation of the project on a federal scale. As part of the cooperation, it is planned to expand the geography of the “Life Button” project and actively disseminate it through regional social organizations specialized devices for remote monitoring of representatives of the older generation who need constant care.

How it works

To connect to the “Life Button” service, two types of devices can be used: a device installed in the house with a GSM module or a specially equipped Just5 mobile phone model CP09. The phone with large buttons and large text on the screen is equipped with an SOS alarm button, which provides a quick call to the 24-hour dispatch service. The device can also be used as a regular mobile phone. The device also has a remote location system based on mobile technology LBS. When emergency call the system determines where the signal was sent from, which allows you to quickly send the necessary help there.

As a bonus, when ordering a phone you can choose any color you like. The Just5 CP09 phone model cannot be called new; since its appearance in 2009 (if I’m not mistaken), the following two modifications, Just5 CP10 and Just5 CP11, have already been released. I don't know about newer models. Just5 СP11, of course, is more interesting with its large retractable display, but Just5 СP09 copes well with its main task.

A stationary home device is intended for people who do not leave their home. Equipped with system speakerphone and an emergency call button.

The stationary device also comes with a phone and a pendant with a fall sensor. The pendant reacts to a person’s movements and, in the event of sudden changes, independently sends an alarm signal to the “Life Button” support center. The hands-free feedback function allows the operator to find out if everything is okay with the person and, if necessary, send help. In addition, the system can be supplemented with sensors for water, smoke and gas leaks in the room.

According to statistics provided by the company, 33% of people over 60 fall at least once a year, with half of the falls resulting in serious injury. The pendant is said to reliably react to the wearer's fall or impact and automatically connect to the support center.

The important thing is that a doctor is on duty at the contact center around the clock and takes alarm calls. When registering in the system, an individual user card is filled out with contact numbers of family members and other important information, including data on specific diseases and the general health of the user. Thus, the number of “intermediate authorities” for the victim is reduced to zero: the doctor immediately assesses the level of threat and independently contacts relatives and the necessary rapid response service. Plus, availability detailed information about diseases, possible allergies to certain drugs, etc. will allow doctors to provide assistance more effectively.

Mobile positioning eliminates the problem of finding a victim and the need to find out details from a person who may have difficulty speaking. With such an integrated approach and ease of use for the user, the system compares favorably with other options that people independently organize for their elderly relatives based on the same or similar phones with an SOS button.

Alternatives

With SOS phones and the function of automatic “circular” dialing to the given numbers of relatives, everything is clear. This is an order of magnitude better than nothing at all or regular phone, which a person may not be able to use in certain circumstances. It doesn’t hurt to take care of connecting to the mobile positioning service in advance either.

The state "System-112" as a unified duty dispatch service (EDDS) at the federal level is slowly being created and will coordinate and control the work of emergency services of firefighters, police, ambulance, emergency gas service, and rescuers. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is also working in this direction, including creating special applications for smartphones; I wrote about this not long ago. All this is necessary and may even come true in the coming years. Just when and how effectively will it work?

In any case, some multi-stage response will remain, and the loss of precious time cannot be avoided. In this sense, the “Life Button” is much more effective due to its “tailoredness” to solving the problem of helping a specific person and the presence of all necessary tools"at hand".

Additional services

The coordinates of a moving person are continuously monitored, and relatives have the opportunity to call contact center and finding out where a person is is important. For an additional fee, they offer the “Check Call” service (a daily check call to find out if everything is in order) and the service of an employee visiting the home; for this, the keys to the “ward’s” apartment must be deposited with the service.

It is generally accepted that gadgets are the sphere of interest of young people, and people of advanced age do not need “this Internet of yours.” In fact, they are still needed, and sometimes absolutely necessary. Smart devices created specifically for the elderly can provide assistance and even save the life of your loved one when he is left alone.

Some time ago we wrote about. These are not the only devices that are equipped with such a system. System of Care

St. Petersburg portal « System of Care» provides comprehensive services for care and medical support for the elderly and disabled. “Panic button” is one of the functions of the service, you can connect it either for a fee or free of charge according to the state program.

The work of the “Panic Button” is to provide round-the-clock telephone support and call emergency services with one click of “SOS” on the connected device. Users of the service receive advice on any medical, social and everyday issues. Calls are answered by operators with higher medical education – doctors and pharmacists. The system tracks each request and controls the quality of assistance at all stages.

The service supports connecting any mobile phones and other devices equipped with SOS buttons.

“System Care” operates in 12 regions of the Russian Federation, which includes the Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov regions and separately the cities of St. Petersburg, Moscow and Ufa. Cost and range of services in different regions and cities may vary.

Mobile rescuer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations

Free application for smartphones " Mobile rescuer» developed by order of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. It is intended to notify rescue services and the user’s loved ones about the latter’s need for immediate assistance.

The “Mobile Rescuer” interface is designed for the least experienced, which are many elderly people. Essentially, this is one large on-screen SOS button, a 5-second press of which sends a message to the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and to saved phone numbers. After pressing SOS, the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees call the applicant and clarify what kind of help he needs.

In addition, the application determines the user’s coordinates and transmits them to the rescue service and loved ones.

Other functions of the Mobile Rescuer:

  • Display a map of the area showing the location of the applicant.
  • Reference information on the provision of emergency first aid.
  • Telephone book of medical institutions and fire services of the city.
  • Saving transaction history.

Gadgets with panic buttons for the elderly

Now let's get acquainted with universal devices Russian-made, which can be connected to domestic services GPS/GLONASS monitoring, local security systems, or used only for emergency notification of loved ones.

GSM keychain "Siberian Arsenal"

The device with a carabiner for keys and three small buttons is designed to be carried in a pocket or bag. Separate button It does not have SOS, but it can be any of the three: what will happen when pressed is determined by the owner. To set up the gadget, an elderly person will need a mobile phone and the help of a loved one.

Supported functions of pressing GSM key fob buttons:

  • Alarm signal (SOS).
  • Testing the functionality of the device.
  • Sending a message to specified numbers.
  • Information about the balance on the SIM card.
  • Hardware testing.
  • Informing the security service about an emergency event.

The cost of the device is 5350-5500 rubles.

Radio channel bracelet Astra-R RPD

The peculiarity of this simple-looking device is that it works without a SIM card, which is indispensable in conditions where there is no cellular communication, for example, away from the city. The radio signal range of the bracelet is up to 150 meters. In addition, it does not need to be recharged, as it is equipped with a simple replaceable battery that lasts about 1.5 years.

To ensure the operation of the device, you need a stationary radio transmitting controller and an Astra-R relay, which are not included in the delivery package. The cost of one bracelet in Russian stores is approximately 1,100 rubles, and a set with a controller and relay is about 8,900-9,000 rubles.

Guardian SOS GSM-03

The “Guardian SOS GSM-03” set consists of stationary and mobile modules. The first is a small box for mounting on a wall, and the second is a bracelet similar to wrist watch. Both devices are equipped with panic buttons. When pressed, the signal is transmitted to the specified phone numbers (maximum 5). After sending the message, the system dials the elderly user's relative, while simultaneously turning on the microphone on the devices so that the subscriber can hear what the person is in and what is happening next to him.

Additional features of the stationary system module:

  • Connecting sensors for gas leaks, smoke, water leaks, etc.
  • Connecting an external speakerphone.
  • Connecting a siren.
  • Autonomous operation up to 6 hours (during normal use it is powered by a 220 V network).

The cost of the set is 5100 rubles.

The domestic market can hardly be called rich in devices with emergency buttons for the elderly, but Chinese sites like Aliexpress successfully fill this gap. The choice there is huge, the prices are low, and the quality is high. Except that they don’t provide a guarantee, but that’s nitpicking.

However, before ordering goods of this class on foreign sites, it is important to make sure that their work is supported Russian services, as well as the absence of “spyware” and prohibited functions. In particular, radio transmitting and receiving equipment that operates at frequencies above 9 kHz and means of secretly obtaining information cannot be imported into our country.

When buying an officially new car in 2017 in any country on the territory of the EAEU, the consumer will probably find a button in the car with the inscription SOS built into the profile of the lighting lamp. This is what the ERA-GLONASS emergency response system module visually looks like. The filling of the system is very similar to the insides of a regular smartphone: an antenna, a speaker, a microphone, a separate battery, as well as a GLONASS/GPS navigation unit, a 3G module and an accelerometer. The cost of the device is similar to the price tag of an average mobile phone - about 150 - 200 euros, which will “symbolically” affect the final cost of popular car models.

As we said earlier, in Belarus until the end of 2018 “ panic button"We decided not to press. That is, Belarusian dealers are not prohibited from selling cars (both new and used) that are not equipped with the GLONASS emergency response system. But almost all the models that are available today in Belarusian car dealerships are made in Russia. This means that by default, since 2017, they are equipped with ERA-GLONASS. It is quite reasonable to note: why? If our analogue Russian system emergency response - ERA-RB - is far from even testing. And yet, the largest automobile factories in the Russian Federation do not intend to adapt to those lagging behind - all export models will be equipped with ERA-GLONASS by default.

Already at the end of December last year, the official Skoda dealer in Belarus received cars with the new “Era” on board. Unfortunately, we were unable to quickly study GLONASS. The first batch was sold out very quickly - interest-free installments in Belarusian rubles for 2 years it encouraged citizens to buy popular Czech models. But the other day, Avtomalinovka still managed to be one of the first to test the new “ERU” in practice, pressing harder on that same “panic button.”

As sometimes happens, a trivial incident made its own adjustments: the Belarusian ordered a rather specific and expensive Skoda Octavia Hockey Edition with a 2-liter TDI, but did not have time to pick up the car. “The client did not have time to pick up the car from the warehouse. This is an unusual case - after all, we complete the car and deliver it to order exactly on time. People really look forward to them and, as a rule, take them right away, - the dealer representative told us. — I won’t lie, diesel modifications are very expensive, and therefore they are rarely bought. Last year, only 18 diesel Skodas were sold. This is 1% of total sales for the year".

Almost all previously presented products will be supplied to the Belarusian market. the lineup Skoda “All popular models in Belarus will remain available. Including our flagship Superb. But there are nuances. Thus, Czech-assembled cars (approx. with the exception) will be imported to us until the end of 2018. This means that Skoda Yeti, Octavia and Rapid in the Republic of Belarus will be available not only in Russian assembly. The same applies to Spaceback, even if the model is not produced in the Russian Federation, as well as the new Kodiaq crossover. The only exception will be the Skoda Fabia, since the model is completely not in demand in our market,”— explained in the Belarusian office of Skoda.

Well, what about the “panic button” itself? In fact, it fits very harmoniously into the profile of the lighting shade. It's unlikely to be mistaken for a foreign element - just a regular gray panel with the inscription SOS, two plugs on the sides and a green backlight indicator. Well, let's press! Yeah! It turns out that the panel moves silently, and behind it we see the emergency call button for the ERA-GLONASS system. “Everything is very simple: we press a button and there is immediate communication with the operator. In Belarus, we called the Ministry of Emergency Situations,- says a Skoda car service mechanic. “When calling, the button does not change color - only when there is no power from the car network, GLONASS uses its autonomous battery, and then it glows red.”

In theory, after pressing the button, a distress signal is sent to the call center employee - the ERA-GLONASS operator to a single Russian number 112. He must answer and find out what happened. If there is no answer, a team of rescuers and doctors is sent to the exact coordinates, who are given only 20 minutes to arrive at the scene of the accident! You can also call for help manually - for this purpose, we repeat, there is an “SOS” button on the panel.

This is in theory. But, in addition to banal button testing, we also want to clarify some nuances for ourselves. For example, in our country there is no unified emergency service with a call center (analogous to the Russian “112”), which should distribute calls to emergency services. To call the Ministry of Emergency Situations, police and doctors you need to dial 101, 102 and 103 respectively. Will the Belarusian operator be able to quickly redirect the call and will help come from there?

Second. Let us repeat, you can call for help manually - there is an “SOS” button for this. What if for objective reasons this cannot be done? For example, the driver is unconscious or physically cannot reach the button. What instructions does the Emergency Ministry operator have in this case?

And finally, I want to know for sure: will the Belarusian operator be able to send aid to the victims using the exact coordinates? In other words, is there technical feasibility track the movement of vehicles with "Era" » on board in Belarus.

OK. Let's move from theory to practice. I lightly press the button and after a couple of seconds I hear beeps. "Hello, SOS!"- I shout deliberately loudly in the car as soon as I hear a friendly female voice. “The operator of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is listening to you”, - they calmly answer at the other end of the line. I immediately explain the purpose of the call, simultaneously inquiring about call forwarding and other questions. “You will always call the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and here we will redirect the call to the necessary services. How quickly and exactly how they can help you depends only on them. It is impossible to determine the coordinates of the car in the Republic of Belarus, just as we will not be able to assess the severity of injuries received in an accident, the purpose of the call, its significance, etc. The system is not yet fully operational.",” explained the operator of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. As for the case when, say, the victim cannot answer, the girl was categorical: “If we don’t wait for an answer, we won’t be able to help!”

It turns out that there is a button, but there is little use! In fact, today in Belarus the functionality of ERA-GLONASS is reduced to a minimum - a free call to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. And for the sake of a joke or a demand for real help, it’s no longer so important. They will not be able to help you promptly! Although even saying that the call is “free” is difficult. The cost of the emergency response system is included in the price of the car by default, and it is specified as a separate option in the configuration! Which, alas, cannot be refused! Meanwhile, cars have already become more expensive!

And we tested one more technical feature of GLONASS in practice. As mentioned above, in theory, the system is equipped with an autonomous battery, which allows you to send an SOS signal via the Internet in the form of a small data packet or SMS, even if the car battery is disabled. In practice, we received a completely deactivated device! “Perhaps the device’s battery needs to be properly calibrated - there is a small button for this. Or the battery is simply dead. The car is parked with the battery terminals removed. This is one of the storage conditions."- The mechanic tried to find an explanation for the problem with a confused look. Be that as it may, the fact is clear: the “ERA”, already officially launched in Russia, is working through the cracks! What are we going to pay extra for, gentlemen?

As the population of developed countries ages, the market for devices to monitor their health and support their lives at home (many older people live separately from their relatives) is growing and becoming more attractive to manufacturing companies. There are more and more devices, but their development is associated with certain specific difficulties.

The main difficulty of such technologies is to make them extremely easy to use, so that they do not require constant recharging, reinstallation and other technical intricacies, and also have a simple interface. And it is important, since no one likes to feel under surveillance, to use technologies that do not involve direct surveillance.

Lively

Lively presented its personal device assistance in an emergency in the form of a watch that combines a large button for calling an ambulance, a pedometer and an application that displays reminders for taking medications on time. In addition, the system is equipped with “passivity sensors” that determine whether the elderly person’s usual activity has decreased and sends an alarm message to relatives if the level of activity drops below a certain level. And, since most old people do not have a WiFi network at home, communication is carried out through mobile network using a home hub that supports device operation at a distance of up to 300 meters from the base. The watch can also work in tandem with a smartphone when, for example, a person leaves home. The developers took into account the common vision problem of their target audience - hence the use of a large button, and the watch-like shape of the device also owes to this generation's habit of wearing watches on their hands.

The system works unnoticed by older users and only sends a signal to relatives if something unusual happens.

At the beginning of 2015, the device will be added to the function of detecting a fall and instantly informing relatives or help services about it.

The device costs $49.95, and the monitoring service costs $34.95/month.

Philips HomeSafe Wireless

Philips Lifeline offers HomeSafe Wireless, a medical alarm system designed for use at home by elderly people living alone. Based on standard device HomeSafe from the same company, the wireless version of the system does not depend on the presence of a wired telephone at home. HomeSafe allows you to contact medical professionals, family members, or anyone else registered as a caregiver any time the user presses a button on their bracelet or necklace, or when the device detects a fall.

HomeSafe Wireless uses mobile communicator, which connects users with its own 24/7 emergency response center emergencies, ensuring older people get help when they need it. HomeSafe Wireless can also include Lifeline with AutoAlert, which initiates an automatic call to help if a fall is detected and the user is unable to press a button on their device.

The device is equipped with a battery that provides 24 hours of system operation in the event of a power outage, ensuring that users are never left without medical attention.

When you subscribe to a service that costs $40 - $53/month, the equipment is provided free of charge.

Touch3

GreatCall has begun offering its own Touch3 smartphone for older users, which is free of the complexities that plague all smart phones and plague older users. They don't want to have to navigate through multiple hard-to-read screens to get to what they need. A smartphone based on Samsung devices, contains only a few of the most necessary functions for older people - help, telephone, camera and the ability to send text message- which are available in one or two clicks and are presented on the screen with large buttons.

Touch3 provides its owner with access to very convenient services related to health and safety:

  • Access to the GreatCall 5Star special service staff, who, when calling, see subscriber information, including emergency contact numbers (friends, relatives, doctors), medications taken and allergies. They can assess the degree of danger of the situation and send help to the elderly person;
  • Ability to call and speak with a licensed nurse or physician at no additional cost;

These services are available only in the USA, but almost throughout the country.

In addition, the smartphone is equipped with the Medcoach application, convenient for older people, designed to track the medication schedule and initiate appropriate reminders about this.

The smartphone itself costs $169.99, and maintenance using the services mentioned above costs the user from $25/month. (depends on the number of calls to services).

Interestingly, a similar project was developed by the company Independa, which is testing its Angela tablet, designed specifically for older people. The tablet uses its own GUI, which has brighter colors, higher contrast, and larger icons than typical consumer devices.

Angela has several pre-installed applications that the company believes are of interest to older people, such as email, Facebook, video calling, games and puzzles. In addition, the system includes Smart app Reminders, which allows users to set reminders for taking medications on time, visiting doctors, and the like. In this case, reminders are displayed on the screen and users need to touch them in order to confirm reading. And people caring for an elderly person simultaneously receive confirmation that the reminder is understood and followed.

Evermind

The Evermind system is a set of sensors that allows relatives of an elderly person to discreetly and unobtrusively monitor his vital activity.

The Evermind sensor is more like a device we often see in home automation kits - a "smart plug", i.e. external module, providing end-to-end connection of electrical equipment to the network. In other words, the sensor is inserted into a socket, and at the same time it is itself a socket. If an electrical appliance connected to a sensor is turned on or off, Evermind records the changes and sends the corresponding data to the manufacturer's server using own module cellular communications. The information received is analyzed and, if necessary, a notification is sent to the smartphone of a relative or person caring for an elderly or sick person.

Older people have established habits; they eat, watch TV, walk and go to bed at about the same time every day. It is these habitual actions that are monitored, or rather, deviations from this ritual are recorded.

For example, a user connects a coffee maker to the mains via Evermind. He knows that every morning for his elderly relative begins with a cup of invigorating drink, and therefore adjusts the sensor accordingly. If during the morning the sensor does not detect the coffee maker turning on, the user will receive a corresponding notification. Or, on the contrary, he will receive an SMS every time the equipment is put into operation - it all depends on the selected parameters.

In this case, you do not need to have the Internet at home, which, as a rule, older people do not have - all sensors have their own wireless access to the Network.

There is no mobile application for Evermind; sensors are configured via a web interface. A set of three sensors will cost $199. In addition, Evermind owners are charged a monthly fee of $29 to use cellular network and servers.
