or tablets from other companies, worries many of those who are going to buy a new gadget. We spoke with the heads of Internet companies in the field mobile technologies about their personal and professional preferences, about the advantages of one operating system over another, about what should the user choose - iOS or Android?

Anton Chirkunov, founder of Wheely

“Today, when choosing a smartphone or tablet, the main thing is not the different specifications like battery capacity, camera resolution, etc. They are more or less similar at all modern devices. The main thing for the user is the mobile ecosystem. And on iOS, for example, it is much more developed. The most active users are on iOS, which is why the developers of all popular and successful applications make their product primarily for this operating system and only then finalize it for Android and Windows. 90% permanent and active users Wheely also uses Apple smartphones, so our main product is the iOS version.

Speaking in simple words, by purchasing a device running iOS, you are guaranteed to receive the most best apps and games first."

Flash and convenient file transfer

Maxim Evdokimov, CEO of MOBI.Money

"When Android first came out NTS phones, Apple founder Steve Jobs said he would do everything to destroy the main competitor of iOS. Back in 2008, he predicted that Android would eventually gain significant market share, and he was right: Android accounted for about 70.1% of smartphone market revenue in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to Strategy Analytics.

Over the four years of its existence, Android, along with iOS, has created innovative and advanced software products and has established itself as an integral part of many electronic devices, has gained popularity among users. Unlike iOS Android supports Flash, which is used on many websites, opened theirs for developers source which gives freedom of choice software products. Android also benefits from the fact that transferring files to mobile devices occurs without special programs, this can be done via USB or via a flash card.

Many analysts expect Android's market share to be mobile devices will not decrease, there is a tendency for it to remain at the same level or even increase. But regarding iOS, on the contrary, the forecasts are not very positive. Well, we’ll wait and see.”

Don't fight the interface

Anatoly Maryin, CEO of ShopPoints and StarCard companies.

“How many famous, successful people have you seen with an iPhone? What about Android? Probably the ratio will be 95% to 5% in favor of the iPhone. And this is not because it is fashionable. Quite the opposite: the iPhone has become popular among successful people because it is convenient. People whose time is valuable make this choice because the iPhone allows them to save time, enjoy using the device and focus on what they want to do: communicate with the right people, write messages, use social networks - and do it all without hindrance. Don't fight with the interface.

Both devices and software iPhones look great. The devices look appropriate in the hands of an entrepreneur, a student, a catwalk model, and a neighbor from the nearest entrance.

It's funny, but it's true that all applications almost always look more attractive and more convenient on the iPhone. Just compare in the store by running the same applications. It gets to the point of comical: compare how the icons of identical applications look, which, it would seem, should look the same: on Android the icons will look “collective farm”.

Large selection of accessories

iPhones are ubiquitous, and you will find a huge number of accessories for them: cases for every taste, chargers, batteries, etc. With Android, the situation is different: There are many device manufacturers, there are a huge number of models for each manufacturer, it is simply impossible to come up with and produce a sufficient number of accessories for each model.

It's the same with renovations. Your iPhone will be repaired in any workshop, and they will always find a replacement for broken glass or a broken button. Fixing a broken Android will be much more difficult and expensive.

iPhone is more reliable than competitors

The iPhone is much more reliable, since the manufacturer has been honing the nuances of producing one model and one operating system for years, each upgrade of which becomes more reliable, simpler, more powerful, and more productive. The scale of sales of hundreds of millions of devices allowed Apple to hone production technologies and software down to the smallest detail. For example, even old iPhone will please you enough fast work and a complete absence of glitches, while Android devices after one and a half to two years of service they begin to slow down and freeze.

In terms of hardware reliability, the iPhone is also ahead of all manufacturers: according to a recent study by Strategy Analytics, Apple devices almost three times more reliable Samsung smartphones and at five - Nokia.

Better buy one good device and enjoy it for years, rather than constantly buying new devices to replace broken ones or those that have begun to glitch unbearably.

The best apps are available earlier on iPhone

Most developers choose to launch the application on iPhone first and only after some time launch it on Android. This is due to the well-developed iOS development tools.

For example, Instagram, one of the largest social networks world, was available only on iPhone for more than a year. Only recently it was launched for Android. We at Starcard, the next-generation customer rewards program, also released the app for iPhone first, and are only coming closer to releasing it for Android.

Anyway, there is a common saying among power users: “On average, an Android user spends 17 minutes a week explaining why he didn’t buy an iPhone.”

It’s annoying that in the modern world you have to figure everything out. You decide to buy, say, a bicycle. I visited websites selling bikes. With the help of Wikipedia, among dozens of categories of bicycles, you found the one that seems to suit you. After flipping through ten pages of the catalog, you looked at an inexpensive, beautiful bike in a more or less reputable store, but you are embarrassed that there is the same one on display next to you, but 10k cheaper. I wonder why? You compare two models and find a difference - one has a front hub made of steel, and the second one is made of titanium alloy (and the second one does not have a bottle mount). It's time to ask the long-pending question - why do I have to figure all this out? I just want to move along the street by pedaling.

Okay, you’re asking exactly this question - what is the difference between a titanium alloy bushing and a steel one? There's a ton of stuff you don't need, but there's an interesting link - on a physics department forum, two graduate students are arguing about why parts for something made of steel and titanium alloy always differ so much in price? One claims that it’s a matter of weight, the second – a matter of wear resistance and the price of the source material. Then the supervisor of both graduate students comes and gently remarks, closing the discussion, that the question in this form does not make sense, since there are many varieties of steel and titanium alloys and it is incorrect to argue without specifying specific brands. What the hell? You google bushing manufacturers and finally find specific brands of materials used, but since the topic is closed and there is no one to ask, you find the email of one of the graduate students and write him a letter with a question. Finally, you jump through godforsaken sites where varieties of steel and titanium alloys are mentioned.

You go to bed and dream that a dusty village store sells two bicycles - the one with white tires is a little more expensive. You wake up from a knock on the door. Two polite men in civilian clothes ask you strange questions - why are you interested in titanium alloys? Do you often visit aviation forums? What do you know about the Besovets fighter project? You say everything honestly - I choose a bike, I don’t go in, I don’t know anything, but you yourself understand that just now you accidentally wandered onto the wrong site. The visitors leave, but promise to return if they realize that you were not honest. You are very interested in what kind of fighter this is, but you restrain yourself.

In the evening, an answer comes from a graduate student - the indicated brands differ in specific strength, strength at high temperatures and other strengths, but for a bicycle hub this does not matter, because to reach the temperature at which the differences between the two bushings are noticeable, you will have to either drive it through a salt lake at a speed of 800 km/h, or drive the front wheel into an open-hearth furnace. You are writing a letter - thank you very much for your answer, but then why are two bicycle hubs so different in price? Attaching links to bicycles. You can’t sleep for a long time, building theories about what kind of secret fighter this is.

You come to an Internet cafe with a baseball cap pulled down to your nose, launch Tor from a flash drive and download everything that is found under the request “Demon fighter” in different variations. You pay in cash for your time on the computer. At home, you reinstall the system and view all the collected information. It turns out that the project of this fighter was closed a year ago due to exceeding the already TITANIC budget, and the workshop was disbanded and transferred to different projects. The chief aircraft designer of “Besovets” moved to the states, but died mysteriously just a couple of months later. The Besovets team was given ambitious tasks, but there was no information anywhere about what happened to the prototype, although it became clear that at the time of closure the project was already at the testing stage. Interesting, but I need to go to bed.

The question torments you at work too. You Google the first and last name of the youngest member of the development team of the mysterious fighter, and your instincts do not let you down - on the fifth page of Google you find him on Instagram. The profile is open, the last photo was uploaded about a year ago. It shows a smiling guy boasting about the fish he caught. The geotag indicates the village of Besovets in Karelia. You are packing your suitcase.

The territory of the air base is guarded; it is not possible for a civilian to get closer than ten kilometers. In Google Maps, the desired area of the map is covered with control and control forest. You decide to go down the river on a boat, which you rent from a one-eyed local for a bottle of port. Having reached the fake Google Maps area, you go ashore and sneak towards the airbase under cover of darkness. You see powerful spotlights from some towers ahead.

You sneak up to the barbed wire and through the trees you observe a strange picture - soldiers unloading a large container from a cargo plane. On the tail of the plane there is a white sun in a blue square, inside a red square. The soldiers open the container, inside which are children in khaki uniforms with impenetrable bags on their heads. And then something happens that you never expected - in complete silence, your phone loudly signals a new letter. Immediately, rustling sounds and a loud voice are heard nearby, ordering you to come out with your hands raised. You take off and run through the night forest. Trying to run in zigzags, you hear dogs barking and see flashlights. You've been running for so long that you're already starting to panic - the forest doesn't end, the river bank isn't visible, but your pursuers seem to have lost the trail. You run out onto the road. The sun has not yet risen, but the sky is already brightening.

My legs don't move. After lying in the bushes by the road, you hear the sound of bicycle tires on the asphalt. A woman with a berry box on her back slowly drives by. You catch up with her and use all your charm and persuasiveness - the car has stalled in the forest, I’m walking to the gas station, maybe you can give me a lift? The woman happily agrees to help. You're sitting on the trunk with your legs dangling and suddenly you notice that her bike has a bottle holder.

You look at what kind of letter your presence at the barbed fence gave away. This is a graduate student. He compared the two bicycles to which you provided links, and noticed that not only the materials of the hubs, but also the countries of assembly differed. Despite the fact that both companies have a legal address in the Netherlands, in fact, the assembly shop of one of them is located in Taiwan. This explains the difference in price, the graduate student notes.

Having reached home, you fall exhausted on the bed, but again you have guests in civilian clothes. You come up with a story on the fly about a birthday party at a friend’s dacha that lasted until the morning, but the men don’t even try to bring you to light. They are interested in why you don’t have a password on your Wi-Fi. You answer that you just moved into the apartment and have not yet had time to put things in order. Then a third person comes in and they whisper about something in the hallway. From their conversation, you can only make out the words “Cyclops” and “Blackberry.” Having returned, one of them nervously taps some papers on his knee, and then smiles, as if he’s giving up on some business, and advises setting a password on the router - you never know what kind of attacker can access the network through it. They leave.

You decide that you don't really need a bike. He instills fear in you with countless details about which you know too little and cannot completely trust the safety of your health. Suddenly, the brakes, which were assembled at the factory where two Chinese workers recently committed suicide, will fail, but, naturally, this was not written about in the news. Or did the saddle end up in the store from a consignment confiscated at the border, where the inspection body was confused by the off-scale Geiger counter? Or, for example, on some forum unknown to you, users are discussing whether the original model of a bicycle frame is associated with a herniated disc? There are so many details that among them there can easily be one that will harm your health, and you will be lucky to become one of the thousands of buyers who encounter it.

Walking is also useful, you decide. Walk and admire the world around you. By the way, have you been wanting to buy a good semi-professional camera for a long time? It’s just not very clear why two cameras with the same number of megapixels differ in price by more than twice? I need to Google it.

What better android or iPhone? We will look for answers to this eternal question in today’s article.

When buying the most fashionable gadget, many are guided by their personal motivation - some choose by cost, others by design, functionality, brand. And someone according to all these criteria at the same time. Modern smartphones and tablets have different software, the most popular of them: Android, iPhone (iOS platform), Windows OS. The latter is not so popular among our compatriots; most often users prefer Android and iOS.

Side by side comparison

For anyone who cares about the design of a smartphone, you can find many designs from manufacturers with the Android system. There is certainly room for your soul to wander here - a variety of display diagonals, the number of speakers, case material, protection against shock and moisture, etc.

Speaking of the iPhone, the laconic design here has not changed dramatically for a very long time. The body shape is the same back cover up to version 4 it was round, but then it “leveled out”. The sides of the case with version 4 also became smoother. But further, no significant difference was noticeable externally. Only the diagonal of the display increased, the material of the case and the color scheme changed. As before, this smartphone retained a universal design that looks harmonious on both a successful businessman and a glamorous diva.

It cannot be said that the iPhone is more beautiful, and other smartphone manufacturers (Lenovo, Samsung, Sony, Moto, HTC and others) have not finalized the models. Among the assortment of smartphone designs, you can find a very worthy model. Therefore, at this point we do not single out the leader.

Assembly and parts

Since iPhones have been improving their internal components for quite a long time, the quality of their parts and assembly is high. Many manufacturers using operating system Android, they are more chasing the number and variety of models than the build quality. Rarely do models come out that adequately represent gadgets in their class. But their cost is much higher than other common models (often on par with iPhones).

You can’t even compare, for example, the iPhone 7 and Lenovo K5. Of course, here the Apple smartphone wins many times over in terms of build quality. But the price also differs significantly (almost 5 times). But the Samsung S7 could compete with it in terms of quality of parts and assembly. And the price of Samsung is slightly lower than the price of iPhone.

According to statistics, iPhones last much longer than devices with the Android system. Selling an iPhone is much easier and more profitable than selling Android smartphones. This is due not only to the build quality, but also to the software.

And yet, the build quality of the “apple” must be given due credit. In this it succeeds compared to competitors with Android OS. Therefore, when figuring out which is better android or iPhone in terms of build quality, we give preference to the latter.

Software, applications

Before moving on to this comparison, it is worth noting that only iPhones use the iOS operating system, but many devices from different companies use Android. Therefore, the comparison will take place precisely of these two platforms, rather than specific models smartphones.

1. Platform protection. iOS is a fairly closed platform that does not have any alternatives. iPhones and software for them are produced by one manufacturer, so it is easier to control the compatibility of devices than with Android. Android is open to all sorts of updates that are not suitable for all devices. This may affect system performance and stability.

2. Apple App Store very carefully selects applications that can get onto the device. That's why they work more stably on iPhones than on the Android system. Only a small percentage malware and applications can get onto the iPhone. The Android store is more clogged with all this and the chance of “picking up” spam and viruses on it is much higher. iOS does not support multimedia platform Adobe Flash, which provided viewing of flash videos and flash applications online on Internet resources. It is Adobe Flash (according to unconfirmed data) that can lead to the entry of “harmful substances” into the system and increased energy consumption. According to rumors, it will soon be abandoned and this will equalize the capabilities of these two platforms.

3. Games have become quite popular on smartphones. There are a large number of games on iPhones with the iOS platform and on gadgets with Android. True, in both cases there is a fragmentation problem (application/game extensions do not match the display extensions and performance).

4. Navigation capabilities. In both cases, the device has GPS navigation, which works exactly by connecting the device to the Internet. Here the Android platform has succeeded over iOS. For iPhones, cards are a fairly new phenomenon. Therefore they are not as perfect as Google Maps, which are often used by Android owners.

5. User-friendly interface. Android is a little more difficult to understand than iPhone iOS system. Much more convenient and easier to understand. But at the same time, “apples” do not have as many functions for changing themes, wallpapers, and widgets as Android does. Therefore, those who like to adjust everything to their needs will be delighted with the latter.

By all accounts, we can conclude that iOS for iPhone is more adapted, secure and reliable than Android for smartphones.

Batteries

The iPhone manufacturer slightly underestimated the energy consumption of its smartphone and awarded 7 Plus version lithium-ion battery capacity of 2900 mAh. For this type of smartphone with a 5.5’’ display, this is clearly a deficiency. According to the latest reviews of the iPhone 7, with moderate use it loses its charge in just over a day. And if you use it regularly, you will have to recharge the device much more often. Service life is measured in battery life. With normal use it will last up to 3 years.

Android smartphones have a wide variety of batteries. For example, Lenovo P2 with a 5.5" display has a battery capacity of 5000 mAh, and Meizu M3 with a 6" display has a battery capacity of 4100 mAh. These are more realistic indicators that are necessary for full maintenance of the OS and display. The service life is no different from an iPhone. But not all smartphone models have such a significant capacity, so it is impossible to say for sure based on this parameter that Android or iPhone is better.

Display

If we take into account the number of devices that have Android software, then among them you can find a wide variety in display diagonals, number of colors, and screen resolution. On iPhones this range is more limited. Only latest versions increased in size. Before this, there were 3.5" and 4" formats, at that time Android smartphones were produced 1-1.5'' larger.

Also, the popular Samsung brand has released a smartphone - s7 edge, which for the first time uses the side curves of the display instead of their borders. Among the buyers of this gadget you can only find positive reviews. Many even say that it is much cooler than the latest iPhone.

As for the display, it must be said that you can find much best characteristics in smartphones with Android, fortunately the choice of manufacturers and models allows.

Accessories and spare parts

In this matter, without further ado, we can immediately give the palm to iPhones. Due to the relatively small model range, accessories are produced for them in very large volumes. If your headset is lost or damaged, finding a new original one is not a problem. The same applies to charger. The abundance of covers, linings, and bumpers is simply amazing.

This cannot be said about Android smartphones, which, due to the wide model range don't have as many accessories. The charging sockets in them have the same format, the headset jack is also standard 3.5 mm. Moreover, non-original options are also suitable. But when it comes to a banal bumper or protective film, it is not always possible to find them for the desired model. Manufacturers of such accessories simply cannot keep up with the pace of release of new Android devices.

Also, if your smartphone breaks down, you can easily find any part for your iPhone. Almost all repairmen and service centers. Android devices do not boast of this. Finding, for example, a display on any Meizu is almost impossible. This makes rare smartphone models practically disposable. If it broke, I threw it away. Only popular ones, which have been put on sale in a decent volume, have a chance of at least getting Chinese spare parts.

Connectors and SIM cards

What a shame, having 2 SIM cards in use, knowing that when buying an iPhone, you will have to forget about one of them. Or buy another phone. Nowadays this is absolutely not practical.

Among smartphones on the Android platform, you can rarely find copies that have only 1 SIM card slot.

Although not everyone needs to use several SIM cards, but one is enough. In this case, these devices are on equal terms and it is impossible to say that an Android or an iPhone is better.

The charger connectors in iPhones and smartphones on another platform are radically different. For Apple there is a unique Lightning connector, and in Android smartphones there is another, very common micro USB. For the headset in both cases the jack is the same.

Photo: iPhone charging connector
Photo: Android charging connector

It’s impossible to say that the connector is better in some places and worse in others. Therefore, here they are equal.

Camera and speakers

As for the camera in iPhones, it has amazing characteristics. Especially when it comes to the latest models. Even the iPhone's 12 megapixel camera is superior to many Android options from different manufacturers. Unless only Sony can create healthy competition, and not all models from this manufacturer.

Macro photography with an iPhone looks much sharper and has better color rendition. The same applies to shooting in backlight. Portrait photography also looks very impressive. The noise level when shooting at dawn, sunset, or in a dim room is acceptable low. Not all smartphones can boast of such characteristics. famous manufacturers who use the Android platform.

Therefore, if you choose which is better, Android or iPhone, then the latter is a big plus.

Manufacturer service

Arriving anywhere in the world, you can find a specialized service or store to service your iPhone. They are located in almost all major cities. The service is so good that the owners of this gadget have virtually no problems with it - any issues are quickly resolved.

To service your Android smartphone, you need to find a representative office of a specific manufacturer. For example, Samsung can also be found in almost every corner of the world. This also applies to LG customer service centers. Recently, Lenovo has been trying to improve the service.

Consequently, Apple cares more about customer service than other manufacturers.

Comparison results

When choosing between two smartphone platforms, you need to cast aside all doubts and follow your intuition. The times when you won’t surprise anyone with an iPhone have long come. And before choosing your smartphone, think about whether you want to surprise others or just use a reliable and feature phone, and for adequate money. Do you want to be the most original? Buy push-button telephone! What, as an option...

Dear readers! If you have any questions or comments on the topic of the article, please leave them below.

Dear friends, today we will help you decide which is better: an iPhone or an Android (more precisely, a smartphone running the Android operating system). Let us say right away that no one is going to judge these two companies today. This discussion is intended to help the user choose the device that is best for them. This means that this will be useful to those people who are either going to update their smartphone, or are buying for the first time and do not know what to give preference to. That is, we will take you on a short excursion into the world of devices Apple and the universe of Android devices.

Let’s say right away that design will not be involved in our discussion, since this is a fundamental matter for absolutely every person. As they say: “There are no comrades according to taste and color.” We will consider everything according to separate criteria to make it more convenient for you to analyze and compare.

Android vs iOS

Price

Let's start our tour with devices that run an operating system from the global giant Google. Smartphones of any type are presented here price category: from very cheap (starting from two thousand rubles) to flagship devices, the price of which can reach 60 thousand rubles. iPhones have always been distinguished by their high prices, since the company releases only flagship devices every year. It turns out that almost everyone can afford to buy Android phones: this is undoubtedly a plus. But it’s worth noting that you can purchase an earlier iPhone model, which will be distinguished by its high quality. For example, despite the release of the seventh iPhone, the 5S device copes very well with all modern tasks, although the phone was released in 2013.

Firmware update

Android smartphones are produced by a huge number of companies (while only Apple produces iOS devices), since the operating system is open. That is, any manufacturer can release a smartphone with this OS. There are also pros and cons here. And if the first one is clear, then the question may arise: what’s the downside?

The fact is that due to the release of devices by different companies in huge quantities, specifically by model, and not by piece, big problems and difficulties arise with the release of OS updates. For example, if Google introduced the sixth version of its operating system, then you may not be at all surprised by the fact that your phone still has the KitKat four. And the chances of receiving a firmware update with each new version are becoming less and less. Of course, this does not greatly affect the flagship smart phones mentioned above. But is it worth it? Here everyone chooses for themselves.

Apple's policy here is sharply different: since there are not many smart devices, older devices also receive updates, albeit with some restrictions. For example, support for the iPhone 4S stopped only with the release of iOS 10. That is, this iPhone received the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth versions of the firmware. Comparing with the Samsung GalaxyS3, which was released in the same period, we can say that the problem with updates tends to be Android: because this device will never receive an update to the seventh version. But now Apple is experiencing big problems: the updated “oldies” simply work terribly on the new ones iOS versions: The fourth iPhone “died” after iOS 7, and the 4S began to freeze terribly after updating to nine. And here a controversial question arises: which is better of these two evils: not receiving the update or becoming its victim.

Interface

Now let's discuss the interface of Android devices. By default, each manufacturer puts its own shell on its gadgets. That is, native application icons, on-screen buttons, keyboard: in general, all interface elements look different. On the one hand, this allows you to emphasize the individuality of each device of the company. On the other hand, if you are used to the interface of Samsung smart phones, then you may get confused in the menu when purchasing devices from other manufacturers. All Apple phones have exactly the same interface.

All iPhones have the same interface

Change the operating room itself Android system manufacturers cannot, so the principle of arrangement of OS elements is not particularly different. In this regard, similarities are observed in the working screens. Let's look at how the elements are arranged. When you turn on the screen, a lock screen appears in front of you with certain information. The type of unlocking in each version of the OS is different: in some places it may be a swipe, in others a key, and so on. After this, you are taken to the desktop, where application shortcuts and various widgets are located (elements for quick access and displaying program information. For example, a clock widget can display the weather, date, and allows you to quickly launch the Clock application).

Using a special button you will be taken to the menu: all will be displayed here installed programs, games and applications. Please note that each manufacturer may leave several pre-installed utilities, some of which are sometimes impossible to remove. When you swipe across the screen from top to bottom, the notification and settings panel opens, which also differs in each version of Android.

The iPhone only has two screens: the lock screen and the main screen. That is, you will not see any desktop with shortcuts, but only application icons. This is the most obvious difference between the iPhone and Android smartphones. The notification shade is also different, since there will be program widgets, as well as notifications of various kinds. The control center opens by swiping up from the bottom, where you can enable some services and control music.

Services

The main place to download additional games and programs is the app store. For Android this is Google Play, for iPhones - App Store. Here, undoubtedly, the apple market wins, since there is a lot of more files There are more unique contents to download. Moreover, developers give preference to this particular store, so don’t be surprised if some cool application isn’t on Google Play.

iPhones have very convenient management and synchronization via a computer using the iTunes program: you no longer need to search for folders, think about where to transfer the movie, and so on. Many users of Android devices see this as a problem, but having taken advantage of all the advantages of this utility, we can say that in this regard it is more convenient. However, you will not be able to download a movie directly from your browser to your phone on your iPhone. But owners of Android devices need not worry. In this regard, Android is better than iOS.

Let's continue our comparison by cloud storage. iPhone has iCloud service, which can store absolutely all the data on your device, from contacts to application data. Here you can create backup copy devices: if for some reason you lose all the information, you can save it without any problems. The service will also be convenient for those who have several iOS devices, since all data is synchronized with each other. For example, you won't have to transfer your contacts to your iPad because they will automatically download when you connect to iCloud.

Android also has similar features, but they are not as deeply integrated. They also have fewer options. But everything that concerns simple contacts and mail, everything is excellent here. This may also appeal to those who use Google services: YouTube, Gmail, Google Docs. You will have a single user address to log into all services.

conclusions

Friends, today we tried to find out which is better: iPhone or Android. To do this, a comparison was made of the main functions and capabilities of the devices. Of course, this is only a small part of what smartphones can present to you. More detailed information You can find out on the manufacturer's website or in sales stores. It is recommended that you turn on the device and look at it in this state before purchasing. You may not like the Android shell or it will be inconvenient to use the iPhone keyboard. We hope you can do it right choice. Tell us in the comments the pros and cons of both platforms, in your opinion: which one did you prefer and why?

Could you shed some light on the topic of smartphones? As far as I understand, you have both iOS and Android. Your point of view is interesting.

In addition to the fact that you can immediately contact me on a first name basis, the question is interesting, because I really am. And here, just recently, new flagships were announced on both sides. Well, I answer (and this is just my personal assessment opinion).

When I'm at home or traveling around the US (such trips are rare for me), I use my iPhone. I now have an old six (not “6S”), which is already three years old, and in general it suits me. Except that the battery began to discharge somewhat indecently quickly. My home needs from a smartphone are small. Unlike many in our difficult times, I use my phone for calls and SMS, and spend less time on various instant messengers and chats.

No, of course, I constantly check Facebook, Instagram, and other social networks, but my main requirement for a “home” smartphone is that it is convenient to make calls and that it is convenient to send SMS. And also, the browser should be good. In my opinion, all these things are done better and more intuitively on iOS than on Android. Mainly because they have not changed since 2007, when the very first model came out. I first became an iOS user in 2008. Everyone is used to these interfaces, and Apple tries not to change them over trifles (although in the last couple of years there have been more changes, it’s a shame).

By the way, many are very surprised to learn that Google employees can use iPhones. The guys don’t understand that Google is not the CPSU, and everyone is allowed to use what they want. Even Yandex is possible!

The fact that my iPhone is working relatively well three years after I bought it gives it a pretty good recommendation in my opinion. Among Androids, this is unheard of longevity if you constantly install a new version of the operating system on them.

My current Android is Google’s Nexus 5X, it’s not yet two years old, but in a good way it’s time for it to retire. I use Android when traveling abroad, when I need to use maps on the go, transfer files, edit photos, etc. That is, it is really needed pocket computer, not the phone. Android can do all this better than iPhone, because it has file system, which is simply absent under iOS.

It was several years that I was abroad when I came out with the only series, . So, I could download the latest episode from Torrents to my phone on the go, and watch it right during the trip. This is very cool, and much easier to do on Android.

On the other hand, Android's interfaces are much less polished than Apple's. Partly because they are replaced every few years. And different phone manufacturers, such as Samsung, create their own shells for Android, so smartphones from different manufacturers with nominally the same firmware version can look and behave completely differently. Some people appreciate this kind of individualism, but I like it better when everything works the way you're used to. You can get used to anything, the main thing is that you don’t have to do it again every year.

That's why I prefer "basic" Android, directly from Google, and only use smartphones that change minimally main interface. Just today, Google announced new version Pixel, and I'm already thinking about getting it instead of my current travel phone.

One more thing: I use a service from Google called Project Fi, which works almost all over the world. Arrived, turned on the phone, and you have a connection - it’s very convenient. . This service only works on select Android phones.

There was a time when Android was really buggy. The phones froze, overheated, and had to be rebooted. Now all these problems are behind us, especially with tubes from large well-known manufacturers.

If I had to give up one of the phones, I would most likely keep the Android one. Fortunately, I don’t have to give up anything. Maybe I’ll even buy an eighth iPhone. Or maybe I'll wait until they release a small screen version. For home use I just want something smaller - like SE.
