Lenovo Vibe The X2 is like a breath of fresh air in a world of phones with the same design. The Lenovo Vibe line of smartphones is positioned as a series of powerful and sophisticated smartphones. Based on the test results, we can say that the Lenovo Vibe X2 fully lives up to this description.

Firstly, this is the design of the device - a thin and light, layered body immediately attracts attention. Secondly, it has a good performance-to-price ratio. For 25,000 rubles. you will get a bright, five-inch Full HD display with glove mode, powerful hardware comparable to flagship smartphones and excellent for the “average” camera segment. You can view high quality photos and videos on a bright screen. The 8-core processor will allow you to play any modern games; it also performs well in daily use. Shooting on both cameras of the Lenovo Vibe X2 is not ideal, but it is quite consistent with the stated pixels.

However, the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone does not have NFC or MHL support and OTG at the USB connector. Built-in memory is limited to 32 GB, without the ability to expand it with a memory card. Time battery life cannot be called “excellent”, it is rather average. The sound quality of the included headphones leaves much to be desired.

Overall, Lenovo Vibe X2 is stylish, unusual and powerful smartphone. Despite the shortcomings and the presence of strong competitors with the same price tag, we can recommend the Lenovo Vibe X2 for purchase.

Dimensions - 4.2

Lenovo Vibe X2 is a stylish and compact 5-inch smartphone. The dimensions of the device are 140×69 mm, the thickness of the case in some places reaches 7.6 mm. It is comparable in size to Huawei Honor 6, but Honor 6 is marginally thicker. Vibe X2 weighs 121 grams, lighter than the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 (128 grams) or 4.6-inch Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (128 grams). As you can already understand, the smartphone is compact and thin. By the way, the camera lens does not protrude from the body, as is often the case with some popular thin smartphones. Lenovo Vibe X2 fits well in the hand, but using one hand is not very comfortable.

Lenovo Vibe X2 has an unusual original design. The smartphone seems to be assembled from four panels: the top panel is black, the other three layers are multi-colored. If you look at it from the side, it somewhat resembles an “expanded” German flag. In general, it looks unusual; girls will definitely like the appearance of the smartphone. For today Lenovo smartphone Vibe X2 can be purchased in white and gold colors. There are also color options, but in Russia, at least for now, they are not sold. You can purchase additional accessories for your smartphone: a case, a special speaker and a charger.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 has a plastic body and good build quality, but we noticed that it creaks slightly under pressure. The back is made of smooth plastic that is pleasant to the touch. By the way, after two weeks of use it hardly got scratched.

Screen - 4.3

One of the advantages of the Lenovo Vibe X2 is its good five-inch display. The display resolution is 1920×1080 pixels, high for such a diagonal. Matrix type - IPS, there is an oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating and protective glass Gorilla Glass 3. Pixel density - 441 per inch, this is enough for a clear image on small fonts and icons.

The maximum brightness of the display, in our opinion, is low - up to 328 cd/m2. However, if you switch to the special “High Brightness Mode”, you can get 484 cd/m2, which is already very bright. Another thing is that you need to look for this mode separately in the settings. The minimum white brightness is 5 cd/m2, the display will definitely not be blinding in the dark. This is one of the best adjustable brightness ranges. The display has auto-brightness, we checked its operation - it worked quickly, but only in “hard” mode, without the ability to adjust the brightness ranges using the slider. In the sun, reading the display was difficult, but not critical. The viewing angles of the display are not maximum, but wide enough for comfortable work with a smartphone.

The grease-repellent coating works well. This does not mean that the screen will not get dirty at all: while using the phone, fingerprints remained on the screen, but they did not appear so quickly and were erased.

Camera

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone has 13 MP main and 5 MP front cameras, which are excellent for an “average” smartphone. The main camera is equipped with an LED flash, autofocus, HDR mode, face and smile detection, with the ability to shoot panoramas and much more. Compared to the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, there are fewer settings here, the camera resolution is also lower, but you must agree that the price tag is much more affordable.

The maximum photo resolution is 4160×43120 pixels. The camera shoots Full HD video at 30 frames per second. Audio is recorded in stereo. The camera interface is simple and clear, you won’t have to search for the necessary settings for a long time. Photo quality is good and matches the high megapixel count. The camera copes well with light and even in dark scenes there is not much noise. At the same time, in terms of detail and sharpness, it is somewhat inferior to flagship cameras. You can verify this by looking at examples of photos taken on a smartphone. Also, in tests, we were not always able to focus on the desired object the first time, so we recommend doing several takes. It's good that the camera takes pictures quickly.

The phone's 5 MP front camera is enough for video calling and is great for selfies. The camera does not have autofocus or flash. But, as we wrote earlier, at CES 2015 Lenovo introduced a special accessory for the phone - a separate flash for selfies, the Vibe Xtention Selfie Flash. It is not yet available for free sale, and it is unclear whether it will appear. The front camera also shoots Full HD video at 30 frames per second.

Working with text - 3.0

To our surprise, the phone uses standard keyboard from Google. The company is redrawing the interface, but has not yet gotten to the keyboard, even for Lenovo flagship Vibe Z2 Pro manufacturers did not design their own keyboard.

Overall, Google's keyboard is good. When typing text, you can use continuous input. There is a separate key to switch between languages. There are no additional symbols on the icons, only numbers on the top row of keys. Note that in “portrait” mode, typing texts with one hand is realistic and quite convenient.

Internet - 3.0

The browsers on the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone are pre-installed Google Chrome and Yandex.Browser. The first has support for synchronizing tabs with the desktop version of the browser, the second has a “Turbo” mode for fast loading pages, the ability to close tabs automatically when exiting the browser, etc. If you need a reading mode or automatic text adjustment, then you can always download and install another favorite browser. As tests have shown, the smartphone copes well with several open tabs, works quickly and does not slow down.

Interfaces

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone supports all popular wireless interfaces except NFC and infrared. Separately, we note the presence of dual-band Wi-Fi and high-speed Wi-Fi standard(802.11ac). The smartphone has bluetooth module with support for the A2DP profile for audio transmission, the ability to work in Russian LTE frequencies (Cat 4 up to 150 Mbit/s), A-GPS and GLONASS.

The only negative is the slow GPS module; it has a long cold start, which took a couple of minutes. Otherwise, everything functioned smoothly. For a complete flagship set, only NFC is missing. The phone is equipped with a slot for Micro-SIM cards and a Micro-USB connector, but, unfortunately, OTG and MHL are not supported; you cannot connect peripherals or transmit high-definition video via USB.

Multimedia - 3.0

Multimedia capabilities of the Lenovo Vibe X2 can be called average. The smartphone supports common video formats and codecs, plays video in high quality, up to Full HD video. However, in our tests it was unable to run, for example, video FLV format. There is no choice of subtitles and audio tracks in the built-in video player, as well as any other settings other than a list with the playback history. The audio player plays popular MP3 and AAC formats, as well as WAV, but does not play AC3 and FLAC (the latter can be launched through the file manager). The smartphone comes pre-installed with standard Play app Music is not the most convenient. The Lenovo Vibe X2 comes with headphones, but, in our opinion, they have low quality, for such a price I would like better headphones.

Battery - 2.8

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone is equipped battery capacity of 2300 mAh. By today's standards, the capacity cannot be called large, so the Huawei Honor 6 has a 3100 mAh battery, although it is only slightly thicker. Formal capacity is not everything; how did the smartphone perform in battery tests? The battery passed our tests well, the results are comparable to the LG Nexus 5 battery (same 2300 mAh). The Lenovo Vibe X2 phone played HD videos at maximum brightness for about 6 and a half hours, which is not bad. I lasted “only” 43 hours in music listening mode. If we compare it with the Nexus 5, the latter drained faster in the video test, but took longer in the music player mode.

As for daily use, it was enough for a day and a half, but it didn’t last up to a day and a half. Note that the smartphone has quite extensive “power” settings - emergency mode (only calls and SMS messages are available in it), disabling applications in sleep mode, saving energy for the screen, etc.

Included with the smartphone Charger at 1.5 A.

Performance - 3.9

The device uses the MediaTek MT6595m True8Core platform, as the name suggests, eight-core - four cores at 1.7 GHz and four cores at 2 GHz. PowerVR G600 is responsible for graphics, volume random access memory- 2 GB. Smartphone performance on top level, the “filling” is one of the most productive today; in our tests it coped well with heavy games and benchmarks. Thanks to shell optimization and powerful hardware, the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone works quickly, and this applies to both built-in applications and third party programs. The phone can be considered as a gaming platform; in our tests, the games NOVA 3, Dead Trigger, Minion Rush and Asphalt 8 loaded quickly and ran smoothly even on maximum settings. In daily use, the smartphone worked quickly.

In benchmarks, the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone showed high, flagship results. In the AnTuTu benchmark, it received scores comparable to those of the Sony Xpeira Z3 Compact - 45400 points, and in Ice Storm Unlimited from 3DMark it was slightly lower - an average of 12243 points.

Memory - 2.5

The built-in memory capacity of the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone is 32 GB, of which approximately 26.2 GB is available to the user - this amount of memory is enough for most users. Like many smartphones in the line, there is no slot for a memory card and this is a significant disadvantage of the phone.

Peculiarities

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 OS and Lenovo's proprietary shell. The manufacturer plans to update the OS to Android Lollipop in mid-2015. The appearance of the system interface has been changed, the dialer has been redrawn, the launcher has been replaced, etc. It’s a little unusual that there is no separate menu with a list of all applications. The smartphone also has separate “special” settings, where a lot of interesting things are hidden. For example, displaying a “smart menu” button with quick access to a number of applications, “waking up” the display with a double tap, a gesture to launch the camera and much more.

The main feature of the smartphone is its unusual design. Due to the thin layered body, Lenovo Vibe X2 looks fresh and unusual. Also among the features we name support for high-speed Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, LTE, and glove mode.

Competitors

As of February 2015 average price on Lenovo Vibe X2 - approx. 25,000 rubles, by the way, the initially recommended price was 15,000 rubles. The smartphone is similar in price, characteristics and 5-inch diagonal to Huawei Honor 6 or LG Nexus 5.

All three smartphones are made of plastic and are well assembled. Only the Honor 6 is covered with glass on the back - it looks stylish, but the glass slides and is doomed to collect small scratches. The thinnest was the Vibe X2, the shorter and narrower was the Nexus 5. The Lenovo Vibe X2 had the most unusual appearance, while the Honor 6, in our opinion, looks faceless, and the Nexus 5 looks like a typical LG smartphone.

In terms of hardware, all three smartphones are approximately the same, although the hardware of the Nexus is older, but from Qualcomm. The Vibe X2 has one of the top chipsets - MediaTek, and Huawei has its own Kirin 920 and 3 GB of RAM. Lenovo Vibe X2 performed better in games and tests. However, with daily use you are unlikely to notice the difference between smartphones.

The Nexus 5's cameras are a little behind, but the other two are almost parity. The displays of all three smartphones are similar, but the Nexus 5 does not have a glove mode. In terms of battery life, Huawei Honor 6 is by far the leader, but this could be expected even based on the specifications. The Lenovo Vibe X2 has 32 GB of internal memory, which is enough for most users. The Nexus 5 has a choice of 16 or 32 GB, while the Huawei Honor 6 is smaller, 16 GB, but has a memory card slot.

Most likely, the main selection criterion may be the appearance and design of the models. If you want Android 5.0 and fast updates, it's better to buy the LG Nexus 5; if you need powerful “filling” and an unusual appearance - Lenovo Vibe X2; if you need a “long-lasting” battery and a slot for a memory card, use Huawei Honor 6.

Probably the first years of Lenovo's work (this Chinese manufacturer, if anyone didn’t know until today) can be called the most real run-in. In this case, the smartphone market became a testing ground for the company where new devices were constantly tested. How did this manifest itself? At first, the Chinese manufacturer supplied salons with cellular communications not very expensive devices. However, in certain moments sequences inexpensive models, so to speak, were diluted with top-end smartphones with corresponding prices. But such moves were completely justified.

Introduction

In the territory Russian Federation Lenovo has already established itself quite well as a reliable supplier mobile technology, tablet computers and laptops. And every year the position of the Chinese manufacturer is only strengthening. There are probably practical reasons for this. However, our goal today is not to characterize the company, but to figure out what its brainchild is called Lenovo Vibe X2, the price of which is currently about 15 thousand rubles.

Story

I remember that the real shift for the company was the sale of the flagship under the name K900. This applies to sales in the Russian Federation. In this regard, a completely logical question may arise: “Why then?” The answer is very, very simple if you think about it for a minute. The thing is that at that time the corresponding model had truly top-end characteristics, which won over what experts thought was a considerable audience to the side of the Chinese manufacturer.

At the same time, the device had a not entirely unique, but attractive design, which many future buyers of the device appreciated. Let us remember that the main parameter that influenced this was the phone body, made of thin, high-quality metal. The price of the device also played an important role. Thus, the Chinese company managed to achieve significant success in terms of promotion in the market, getting into the ears of many new people.

After the K900, several more good devices from the manufacturer entered the smartphone market. But the real leader among them turned out to be a model called Vibe X. Actually, the dominance of this device over other products in the line marked the beginning of the modification of the old (or the development of a new) device. Probably, Vibe X can be called a clear example of the way in which the Chinese manufacturer is capable of working, and what it can offer from smartphones to potential buyers.

It was precisely in such an environment, with such preliminary positioning, that the development of Lenovo Vibe X2 was carried out, the price of which falls in the range from 13 to 15 thousand rubles per this moment. Generally speaking, this is nothing more than a mid-range smartphone. Its parameters (and this means the hardware - from the processor to the camera) are not fantastic, but quite impressive, especially considering the cost of the device. The device has a universal design. Why did the Chinese decide to do this? Probably, the versatility should have helped avoid a large number of negative reviews. After all, you never guess who will like what. And universality is universality in Africa too.

A few more words about the cost of Lenovo Vibe In the article, you may notice mentions that the price of a smartphone is not that high. This refers to the current position of the device in the smartphone market. At the very beginning of sales, the cost of the device did not correspond to its buyers. However, now we can say that everything has settled down, and the device is put up for sale at an adequate price. In general, the basis for the positioning of the Lenovo Vibe X2 LTE is precisely the “price/quality” ratio.

Brief technical specifications. Software

First of all, let's note the operating system. On board the Lenovo Vibe X2 Gold we have the Android OS installed. More specifically, this is version 4.4 of KitKat. But some companies do not stop at using ordinary operating systems. This was also the case with HTC. The Chinese company decided to keep up with the Thais and developed a custom shell called Vibe UI, which it implanted into Lenovo phone Vibe X2 Gold.

cellular

The device operates in GSM networks, HSDPA+ operation is supported. But what was especially pleasing (but for such and such a price it is understandable) is the ability to transmit data in fourth-generation networks, which is ensured through the use of an LTE hardware module. Thus, the owner of the phone will be able to surf the Internet at increased speed, open web pages faster and download videos and other media files.

CPU

In this case, the chipset we have is a device from MediaTek, this is the MT6595m model. The processor operates with eight cores, the maximum clock speed can reach two gigahertz. Very, very good for such a device at the appropriate price. The graphics subsystem is PowerVR G600. The smartphone has two gigabytes of RAM built-in, which is more than enough for 90 percent of games and applications. It becomes possible to successfully use the phone in multifunctional mode and open several programs at the same time. At the same time, the operating system works smoothly and clearly, without any hint of failures.

Memory

To store user data (i.e. text documents, music, photos, video clips and movies, as well as games and applications) the phone has 32 gigabytes of long-term memory. However, one of the disadvantages, even with such a volume, is the lack of a slot into which a memory card could be installed. He is simply missing. Apparently, the Chinese manufacturer decided that for the average user, 32 gigabytes will be enough for a lifetime. It’s bad, yes, but what can you do? Well, in the meantime, we move on.

Wireless modules

The Lenovo Vibe X2 phone, which is reviewed in this article, works with Wi-Fi wireless modules (in b, g, n band networks), as well as Bluetooth (version 4.1). In this case, there is a port for synchronization with personal computer or laptop. The same socket is used to charge the device. We are, of course, talking about the MicroUSB standard port. You can (and should, if using FM radio) connect a wired stereo headset to your smartphone. It can also be used when playing multimedia data.

Display

The Lenovo Vibe X2 phone, a review of which quickly spread across the international network, is equipped with a 5-inch diagonal screen. The display matrix is made using IPS technology, which means that the strain on the eyes of the phone owner during its operation will be reduced to a minimum. The technology works very well when the backlight is least active. Well, or during night reading e-books from the device screen. The picture is displayed on the display in Full HD resolution. Dot density is 441 pixels per inch. There is a function automatic adjustment backlight level through the use of an appropriate sensor.

Cameras

The smartphone, which we will discuss at the end of this article, has two cameras. The main one has a resolution of 13 megapixels, and thanks to this it produces stunning photographs of objects. Is there anything else worth saying about recording video with it? Unless the resolution will be 1080 pixels. The front camera is perfect for selfie lovers. This is a 5 megapixel device. The main camera is equipped with an automatic focus function on the subject, as well as an LED flash.

Satellites

Navigation in space is carried out using GPS technology, the module is present and allows you to flawlessly accurately receive data about your location on satellite map. Thus, the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone, reviews of which give the device a positive assessment, can also be used as a navigator when traveling by car.

Sensors

In addition, I would like to note the presence of an accelerometer, which is useful in some games. There is the necessary set of sensors. It includes a proximity sensor that turns the screen backlight on and off when telephone conversation, as well as regulating the illumination level of the display depending on external light manifestations.

Autonomous operation

As a battery, the device has a built-in lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 2,300 mAh. Not so much, but quite a lot. Although energy will be spent, as they say, from the heart. And there is no doubt about it. Especially taking into account the specific features operating system the Android family. In conclusion, we note that the dimensions of the phone in three-dimensional space have the following parameters: height 140.2, width - 68.6, and thickness - 7.3 millimeters. At the same time, the weight of the device has been reduced to a record-breaking weight of only 120 grams.

Conclusion and reviews

Among the advantages of the device are good quality cellular communications, as well as other wireless modules. Wi-Fi receives the signal freely, effortlessly. Cellular network doesn't disappear. What else can you expect from a smartphone for 15 thousand rubles, which is equipped with LTE technology? Good speaker volume. There is stock. The interlocutor’s speech from the other end of the line comes in high quality, cleanly and clearly. In general, the expected plus. The same applies to the vibration alert. It will be difficult not to notice him.

Among the expected logical shortcomings, the first one we have is battery life. Yes, in principle, 2,300 mAh is not so little. But obviously not for those who buy a smartphone in the hope of using it (with such and such characteristics!) on full blast, non-stop, all day. In this case, the only solution to the issue will be to purchase an additional external battery, say, 10,000 A. It will allow you to fully charge the phone at least twice. And this is in the absence of an electrical network. The second disadvantage is the lack of a memory card slot. Although let's hope that the built-in 32 gigabytes will still be enough for phone owners.

Lenovo Vibe X2 with case

Screen

The Vibe X2 has a 5-inch screen on an IPS matrix with Full HD resolution (1080x1920 pixels). There are no problems with the saturation and naturalness of colors. The range of brightness levels is also not bad, but it is too aggressive automatic setting backlight. It tries to increase dynamic contrast, but does a disservice: even not too dark images become almost unreadable under bright sunlight. You can turn on high brightness mode in the settings menu, but this noticeably affects battery life.

There is no air gap between the matrix and the protective glass - this design reduces reflections and increases brightness. But this solution has one big drawback: non-repairability. How bigger screen, the easier it is to break it or at least scratch it. In the case of a conventional “air” design, the device can simply replace the protective glass with a touch layer. If you accidentally drop the Vibe X2, you will have to replace the entire display module along with the matrix, and this is several times more expensive.

In the dark, an unpleasant effect appears when the bottom of the screen is illuminated by LEDs under the touch keys - an obvious mistake by the designers.

Lenovo managed to become the first computer manufacturer in the world, and is now actively expanding into the smartphone market. The manufacturer places its special hopes on Vibe X2. Here, a high-resolution screen, a powerful processor, a flashy design - in general, the bet is justified. Let's take a closer look at what this smartphone can offer us.

Equipment

The box from the device is a separate matter. It is small, multi-layered and somewhat reminiscent of a box. You can find a protruding ribbon on the side. He pulled it and took out the first drawer with the apparatus beautifully laid out there. He pulled the second one and took out the accessories.

By the way, in addition to the usual microUSB cable and the 5V and 1.5A power supply there is a protective film, as well as a transparent glossy case ala Crystal Case. In general, the manufacturer thought about the user.

Design

It’s not for nothing that I called the Vibe X2 a sandwich smartphone. It is based on a multi-layer design and looks really interesting, I would even say stylish. For some this may be a disappointment, but the smartphone is made entirely of plastic. There is no metal here at all. However, when you take the device in your hand, you forget about this moment. The plastic here does not scream about savings, as is often the case with other manufacturers. One Korean electronics giant is especially guilty of this. Well you know what I mean.

The colors here are bright and the surface is pleasant to the touch. In addition, the use of polymer materials has led to weight reduction. In fact, for a five-inch smartphone, 120 grams is very little. The device is light, but the lack of weight does not spoil the impression.

From the end you can see that three components are used, which are connected into one. They are all flush-mounted. However, the glass panel on the front side is slightly smaller in area and, accordingly, looks special.

Above the screen there is a speaker grid, a front camera, proximity and light sensors. Where would we be without them?

At the bottom are the device control buttons. They are touch sensitive and illuminated in the dark with moonlight. The advantage is that they do not take up display space. The downside lies in their strange shape. There is no usual house or other markings here. People who are accustomed to some other Android will have to get used to it for the first few days, determining at random what each of the keys means.

On right side There are beautifully polished power and volume buttons.

The left side is occupied only by the SIM card tray. By the way, it is made of metal and looks quite massive.

At the top there is a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones, and at the bottom there is a tiny microphone hole and a MicroUSB port. There is no infrared sensor, there is no NFC module, there is also no support for memory cards and the OTG protocol. Not rich equipment, but could be better.

The back cover shimmers slightly with a pearlescent color. Looks very elegant. There is a branding in the center, and closer to the top edge there is a camera, a single-section flash and a hole for the rear microphone.

At the bottom is the speaker grid. The design is not the best, since the sound is fairly muffled on a flat surface when the smartphone is face down. Nearby there is a contact area for connecting a special case with a built-in battery.

Now about ergonomics. You can type messages, scroll through browser pages - in most cases, one hand is enough for this. Dimensions allow.

By the way, it will be interesting to compare the smartphone with its main competitors in these parameters:

Length Width Thickness Weight
Lenovo Vibe X2

140,2

68,6

7,27

Samsung Galaxy Alpha

132,4

65,5

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

64,9

Huawei Ascend P7
Apple iPhone 5S

123,8

58,6

Regarding design and convenience, we can draw the following conclusion. Lenovo Vibe X2 is very convenient for everyday use, has a high-quality body, even if made of plastic, and a nice design. In our area with long winters, such bright colors will look very appropriate. By the way, the following colors are available for sale:

Smartphone display

On the front side there is a Gorilla Glass panel (the generation is not specified) with an oleophobic coating.

A 5-inch screen plays a decisive role in ease of use, and Full HD resolution is perfectly suited for such a diagonal.

The pixel density per square inch is 441 ppi. This is more than enough.

Installing QuadHD for such dimensions is not justified. You will not be able to see individual pixels with the naked eye.

In the photo below you can compare the displays of the Vibe X2 (top) with the iPhone 5S:

Color rendition is good, fortunately the IPS matrix is used. When tilted, the situation remains the same - no fading occurs, however, in comparison with the Apple device, a slight change in greenish tints is visible.

Those who are dissatisfied with the standard gamma can choose other display parameters from the preset profiles or play with the slider, moving it from warm to cool tones.

The menu contains the ClearMotion function, the essence of which is that the chipset, while watching a video, increases the frame rate of the video to 60, thereby ensuring its smooth playback. Indeed, videos on the smartphone screen look very lively thanks to this feature!

The manufacturer decided to install a solution from MediaTek under the symbol MT6595M. Let's take a closer look at this organ.

Firstly, this chip is unique in that all cores can operate simultaneously: 4 of them are ARM Cortex-A7, operating at a frequency of 1.7 GHz, and 4 other ARM Cortex-A17, in this case, operating at 2.0 GHz . The processor's operating pattern varies depending on the task.

Of course, battery power consumption is not forgotten either. If necessary, the system reduces the maximum frequency in favor of reasonable use of battery resources and avoidance of overheating. That is why chinese smartphone has on board a version of the processor with a limited frequency. This one is indicated by the letter “M” in the model index.

The PowerVR G6200MP4 video chip is responsible for graphics processes, the frequency of which is again reduced to 400 MHz instead of the maximum possible 600. Again, saving battery resources.

By the way, the same processor, and not a separate chip, is responsible for LTE support. Cat.4 is used, but this is quite sufficient for our current realities.

The only disappointment is the lack of NFC and the ability to connect flash drives in USB-Host mode.

Yes, despite the fact that on others information resources OTG support was announced, but this is still not there. So, except for some little things technical Lenovo specifications Vibe X2 impress with their innovation. The product from MediaTek, I am sure, will provide the smartphone with a long life among current devices for the next couple of years.

Performance

Let's look at the test results.

In general, the brains of the phone provide it with very serious performance, on par with the flagships of this year and early next year.

We have already talked about the processor and other components. Their resources are sufficient for the vast majority of tasks, including heavy toys. Now let's talk about the behavior of the system as a whole.

The Lenovo Launcher shell is mostly well-debugged. Desktops and animation flutter spectacularly. However, some glitches occur from time to time. Either the “Back” button will not work right away, then the screen unlock icon will stop responding to presses, and the multitasking mode will, no, no, but think for a couple of seconds - the user will definitely have to deal with this. It's not annoying, but it catches your eye regularly.

As for launching applications, there are no problems here. Everything loads quickly, I didn’t notice any errors or random application crashes.

Front-camera

The front photo module has 5 megapixels, and the frames have a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The quality of the photographs is very good.

There are various shooting techniques available: shooting with touch, voice, timer, wave of the hand or blink of the eyes. The last two do not work the first time. Maybe I'm just blinking in a non-obvious way. I find it difficult to answer.

Of course, there is no on the front panel LED flash, such as in the Sony Xperia C3, but there is a function to fill the viewfinder with pink or yellow. In the dark it's still better than nothing.

Lenovo Vibe X2 camera

The main photo module is capable of creating frames with a resolution of 4096 x 2304 pixels - that’s 13 megapixels. The most interesting thing is that in the settings there is no option to select a specific resolution. The user can only select the aspect ratio of the frame: 16:9, 4:3 or one to one.

Perhaps this is the right approach. Ask yourself how often do you prefer, for example, a 1280 x 720 pixel photo over high resolution? Personally, I never. I always need the most best quality from what is available.

The shots come out good. Color rendition, sharpness, background blur - everything is very decent.

The camera, of course, is not the best possible, but for the price of the device it is very good. Typically, manufacturers save money at this point; Lenovo did not do this.

The only negative point is shooting at night. This is where all the flaws and nuances come out.

Autofocus often misses and pictures are blurry. In general, night photography is the weak point of the phone.

As an example, I have provided below a composite shot with various settings ISO. The conditions were as follows: a dark room, a smartphone mounted on a tripod, the subject standing motionless and smiling.

Videos can be recorded in Full HD resolution. The recording is smooth, without jerking. However, if there is not enough ambient lighting, the video will look sad. Let's look at an example.

Battery

The smartphone has a 2300 mAh lithium polymer battery. With moderate use of all the functions of the device: two hours of surfing via Wi-Fi and LTE, half an hour of using other programs, taking a dozen photos - the device is not able to survive until the night.

With a fully charged battery in the morning, most likely no more than 10 percent will remain in the evening. Runtime for the X2 is a sore subject.

The problem lies in the high-resolution display and powerful processor. The battery capacity (there were no records) is not enough to operate these main energy hogs for more than a day. Of course, if you don’t touch the device at all, it can last 4 days, or maybe more, but that’s not what you usually buy a smartphone like this for.

If you actively play modern 3D games, the device will sit down in a matter of hours. Obviously, you shouldn't go far from the outlet if you like to play.

In the settings you can activate the energy saving profile. In this case, the device turns into a dialer with an alarm function. The battery savings are not colossal, but still.

Sound

The included headset is only useful for answering calls. The sound quality through it will suit only inexperienced users. For everyone else, it makes sense to use your usual headphones.

There is no proprietary program for playing audio files. You can download something of your choice from the app store or stick to Play Music from Google.

I tested the quality of audio playback through this utility and using my good old Koss Porta Pro. The sound quality is comparable to the Apple iPhone 5S, both in frequency and volume.

Software Features Overview

All applications are located directly on desktops. They are installed and uninstalled directly from here. Of course, you can use the software manager, but for most cases it is not needed.

Desktops are fully customizable. You can choose different design themes, set your wallpaper, create folders - everything is as always.

I would like to express special thanks to the developers for the themes. The ability to install the shell you like right out of the box is not an extra way to customize appearance for the user. The advantage is that all these actions are safe than installing and launching third-party themes that may be incompatible with the system. It's a pity that the choice is limited to only six skins available by default.

I sincerely don’t like it when a manufacturer tries to force the user to use some programs. This used to be a problem with almost all laptops, but now the trend is spreading to mobile devices.

So, by default, an “extremely necessary” antivirus called Security is installed and running.

It successfully cuts down suspicious activity, including various notifications from Viber and others required applications. It is impossible to remove this program using standard means. I stopped all processes associated with this antivirus and stopped fighting the utility.

Usually Google is guilty of this behavior, which requires manufacturers to place their branded store in the most visible place. I am convinced that developers also do not need to join these games! There's a fine line here, where going overboard means losing the loyalty of your fans.

Let's return to our topic. There are additional features that simplify communication with the phone. So, you can wake up the screen or send it to sleep mode by double tapping. It's comfortable!

In addition, you can take a photo directly from sleep mode by double tapping on the “Home” icon. A useful feature when you need to take a photo very quickly and don’t have time to normally launch a photo application.

But the gesture of launching a photo application, when you just need to lift the phone in landscape orientation, did not work for me. Maybe I was doing something wrong.c

In addition, sound profiles are adjusted depending on the time of day. For example, from 9 am the vibration is activated, and from 19:00 the call volume is at full volume. Turning on Wi-Fi can be tied to a location and so on. These are, of course, not breakthrough settings, but it’s good that the manufacturer cares so much about its consumers.

Should I buy Lenovo Vibe X2?

IN currently asking for a smartphone price at 16,990 19,990 rubles. This is a very interesting offer! And here's what a potential buyer can get for this money:

  • great bright design
  • powerful and modern filling
  • high-quality Full HD display
  • good camera

However, you have to come to terms with low level autonomy of the smartphone and sometimes a slow-down system.

Regarding the latter, I'm most likely nitpicking. Minor interface lags are not a serious drawback. There are few of them, and the frequency of firmware updates gives hope for complete optimization of the software in the near future. But a weak battery is really a nuance that must be taken into account when purchasing.

However, I think the Lenovo Vibe X2 is a good buy. Few competitors can offer so many high-quality components in one device, and even for such money. Against the backdrop of all the advantages of the device, one day of battery life is something you can live with. Just hurry up, the price of a smartphone may change very soon.
