Many novice users of personal computers or laptops sooner or later face the need to install or reinstall operating system. And not every newbie knows how to install Windows 7 system. Someone acts at random and installs a system without the slightest idea; as they say, he learns from his mistakes, losing a lot of time. Some people pay a lot of money hiring specialists to install and Windows setup. I strongly recommend that you master all the intricacies once and for all. self-installation system, which will allow you to save a lot of time and money in the future.

Immediately before installing the operating room Windows systems 7, like any other versions of Windows, you should perform the following preparatory operations:

  • create or purchase boot disk or a USB flash drive with Windows 7, from which the installation will be carried out;
  • read the instructions for setting boot priority in the BIOS and installing Windows 7;
  • save from “Local Disk C” to some other, for example, “D” or “E”, all the necessary data.

If the above is completed, you can proceed with the installation itself. I draw your attention to the fact that I myself installing Windows 7 on a computer from a flash drive no different from installing from disk. So, as soon as the computer started booting from bootable flash drive or disk, the message “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD” will appear in white letters on a black background. You need to immediately press any key on the keyboard for the installation to begin. This must be done immediately after this message appears. Otherwise, after a few seconds it will disappear and you will need to reboot.

Installation starts with download necessary files, as shown in the picture below.

Once the download is complete, the message “Starting Windows” will appear.

After this, the start window for configuring the installation parameters of the Windows 7 operating system will appear. Here you can select the system installation language, time format and keyboard layout. You can leave everything as shown in the picture.

Then a window will appear in which you need to click on the “Install” button.

A window will appear with the message “Starting installation”.

The system will prompt you to familiarize yourself with the terms of the license agreement. If you agree, check the “I accept the license terms” checkbox, and then click the “Next” button to continue installing Windows 7.

The next step is to select the installation type. The system will prompt you to restore your existing operating system and install a new one. We need the second option - “Full installation”. We choose it.

Now you will need to select the partition (local disk) on which Windows 7 will be installed. As a rule, this is “Local disk (C:)”. However, it needs to be formatted, that is, cleared of existing unnecessary information. To do this, click the “Disk Setup” button.

Now left-click once on “Local Disk (C:)” so that it becomes active (selected), and then on the “Format” button below. Please note that out of almost 70 Gigabytes on this disk, only 24 Gigabytes are free. That is, 46 Gigabytes are occupied by various files of the old operating system.

A message will appear warning you that formatting will delete all files stored on this local drive. We agree by clicking the “OK” button.

Formatting will complete in just a few seconds. You can find out that formatting is complete by the updated readings of free space on the “Local disk (C:)”. As a rule, the free disk space after formatting should be 0.1 Gigabytes less than the total disk space. In my case, out of 69.9 Gigabytes, 69.8 are free after formatting. It turns out that 100 Megabytes are somehow reserved by the system. So, make sure that “Local Disk (C:)” is selected and click the “Next” button.

If you installed new hard drive(hard drive), it will not be partitioned as shown in the picture. Click the Disk Setup button.

Select the unallocated space and click the Create button.

A small field will appear in which you need to specify the size of the new local disk. For the Windows 7 operating system, I recommend choosing about 60-70 Gigabytes. But since the size is in megabytes, 70 must be multiplied by 1024, because one gigabyte contains 1024 megabytes. I got 71680 Megabytes. Enter this value on the keyboard in the “Size” field and click the “Apply” button.

You can use the remaining unallocated space to create other local disks, the size of which you can choose as you like. So, highlight the created 70 GB local disk and click “Next” to continue installing Windows 7.

A window will appear showing the currently running this moment Windows 7 installation operations. Unpacking files takes from 3 to 20 minutes, depending on what storage media the Windows 7 operating system is installed from. As I already said, with solid state drives installation will be much faster.

A message will then appear stating that you will need to restart your computer to continue with the installation. You can wait 10 seconds, and the system will do it itself, or you can save precious seconds and click on the “Restart now” button.

The computer will begin to reboot. And here I recommend that you immediately go into the BIOS to configure the computer to boot from your hard drive (hard drive), and not from a flash drive or DVD. This can be done according to the principle described in the articles “How to configure the BIOS to boot a computer from a disk” and “How to configure the BIOS to configure a computer to boot from a flash drive.” Only in this case, instead of a DVD drive or flash drive, you will need to choose a HDD. Once you have installed BIOS loading computer from the hard drive, press the “F10” key and agree to save the changes by pressing “Enter”. The computer will start rebooting from the hard drive - it will continue installation of the Windows 7 operating system from the "Starting Windows" message.

The message “Setup is updating the registry settings” appears next.

And behind it - “The installer is starting services.”

The installation of Windows 7 is nearing completion, as evidenced by the information in the following picture.

The system will need another reboot. The next time you start your computer, you will see the message “The installer is testing video performance.”

This will be followed by initial setup Windows 7 operating system, which requires your participation. You must enter a user name, for example, your own, and the computer name. To change the language from Russian to English, you can press the “Shift” and “Alt” key combination on the keyboard (that is, pressing these two keys simultaneously) or with the mouse on the panel at the top. If you entered necessary information, click the “Next” button.

The system will prompt you to set a password for your account, without which no one will be able to boot your computer. You can create it right away, or you can do it later, after installing the Windows 7 operating system. I usually do not create passwords, since I am the only user of the computer. To continue setting up, click “Next”.

This time you need to enter license key Windows. If you purchased a disc, the key will be indicated on the package. If you downloaded Windows 7 from the Internet, do not enter anything; I suggest you activate the system after installation. Also uncheck the box “Automatically activate Windows when you connect to the Internet” and click “Next”.

In the next window, if you have a licensed system with a key, select the first item “Use recommended settings.” If you purchased Windows 7 for free, for example, downloaded it from the Internet, that is, although your version is original, it is still pirated, hacked, select the last option “Delay decision”. Most people, including me, have just such a system. Click "Next".

Now configure the date, time and time zone, then click Next.

If your computer has a network card or Wi-Fi, the installation system will prompt you to select the network to which your computer will be connected. I usually select "Home Network".

The computer will begin to connect to the network.

After this, the message “Preparing the desktop” will appear.

And finally, the Windows 7 operating system you installed will boot for the first time.

Congratulations, the installation is completed successfully. The next step is to activate the system, which you can learn about in the article “How to activate Windows 7.”

In this article I will talk about how to independently install the Windows 7 operating system from a disk onto your computer or laptop.

I offer detailed and step by step instructions with a visual demonstration of screenshots of installing the Windows operating system.

If you think that installing an operating system is something complicated and incomprehensible that only a specialist can handle, then I will disappoint you: this is not true. Now you can see for yourself.

All you need to install Windows 7 (or Windows 8) is a computer or laptop, a disk with the operating system (since in this article we will install Windows from a disk), detailed instructions, which I will now provide you with, and, perhaps, attentiveness! Hopefully after installation you won't look like . 🙂

After installation, I recommend installing it immediately. You understand - in our time electronic payments this is very relevant. Also now (yet) nowhere without Adobe Flash Player. What's his name Right install read . You may also be very interested in not bad. If you store it on your computer private information, create a .

Important: Most everyone possible problems problems that arise when installing Windows 7 are due to an incorrectly prepared installation disk and (or) the quality of the “OS build” recorded on it. You can read the article on how to correctly burn an operating system image to disk.

Remember: if this disc is not out of the box, that is, purchased in a store, then you need to use only original images from Microsoft MSDN. It is the original image, which is just as accessible on the Internet as various assemblies, that is the key to the successful installation of Windows and its normal functioning.

Do not use assemblies of unknown origin. You install all third-party fixes, corrections, and homemade assemblies at your own peril and risk. The consequences may be irreversible.

Before installing Windows 7:

Remember two basic things to do before installing Windows.

First- this is to decide in advance which section hard drive the system will be installed. As a rule, in most cases this is the C:\ drive. You should remember (or create) the volume label and size.

Remember, your desktop is entirely located on the C:\ drive, or rather, here: C:\Documents and Settings\ Username\Desktop. Think in advance about the integrity and safety of files that are important to you, copy them from your desktop, that is, from drive C, to another drive or flash drive.

All programs installed on the C:\ drive will also be deleted, but this is not a reason to drag the entire folder with programs to other drives. It is much easier to reinstall these programs on a clean system. Don't be lazy, it's not every day that you reinstall Windows.

Second moment - these are drivers for your computer or laptop. They need to be taken care of in advance. Most laptops come with them included, but if they are not available (or need to be updated), look for them on the manufacturer’s official website and download them in advance.

I recommend reading everything you need to know about installing drivers in the article “Installing Drivers or Five Iron Rules,” which is located.

If you skip this one important point, then after installing Windows, you may be left without the Internet, because it is not a fact that the Windows distribution will initially contain the drivers for your network card.

Installing Windows 7 from disk:

Insert the disk with the Windows operating system into the drive and restart the computer. By the way, if you don’t have a disk drive, you can install the Windows operating system using a regular one.

Let's continue. Our task is to configure the computer to boot from a DVD. This can be done in 2 ways:

  • 1. select the device (DVD) in the special boot menu;
  • 2. change the boot priority in the BIOS (from HDD to DVD).

The first method, selecting a device in the boot menu, is simpler and more convenient. After installing Windows, there is no need to return booting from the HDD (hard drive). However, on older computers this function is not available and in this case you will have to go into the BIOS and change the boot priority.

Start - reboot, wait until the screen goes dark and at the first sign of the system waking up (the logo appears), press and hold the Delete key on the keyboard. Why exactly Delete key? These can be the keys F1, F2, F3 + F2, F10, Ctrl + Alt + Esc, Ctrl + Alt + S, Esc.

There is no universal button for entering the boot menu or entering the BIOS, and it all depends on the computer manufacturer ( motherboard). The surest way is to read the instructions from the computer or motherboard. The table below shows a clear example of such keys.

The boot menu looks something like this:

Press F10, agree and confirm the exit with saving (Save and Exit) by selecting “Ok”.

Phoenix Award

Let's consider the second interface option. To boot from disk, you need to change the priorities so that the first device is the DVD drive. We find the item “Advanced BIOS Features” and use the arrows to switch to the first device (First Boot Device), change to CDROM.

Press F10 and confirm Save and Exit.

If you have problems at this stage, I recommend watching this video.

Let's continue. If everything was done correctly, we will see the following window with the inscription: “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.”

Here you need to press any key, for example, spacebar. This is only done 1 time and only at this stage of installation. We see the following window with the inscription “Windows is loading files”.

The files are being extracted, after which we will see the message "Starting Windows" and the Windows 7 installation window itself. Windows installation has begun!!

Select the desired language and click “Install”.

Next, we need to select the edition of Windows 7. Select the one for which you have a key or which you are going to activate. On laptops, it is usually indicated on a piece of paper with a key located on the bottom of the laptop. Entering the serial number itself will be a little later; it has been moved to the end of the installation.

A few words about the possibility of installing 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit Windows versions. If you have more than 4 GB random access memory(aka RAM, RAM, Memory), then install 64-bit, if not, then 32-bit (x86).

Let's read and agree to the license terms. Next, we need to select the installation type - select “Full installation”.

Now you need to select the partition on which Windows will be installed.

If you have this section reserved by the system (note, it is still in megabytes (MB), not gigabytes), for example, as in the following screenshot, then select Disk 0 Partition 2.

To avoid such excruciating pain when choosing a partition, before installing Windows, look at how many gigabytes your C drive occupies.

If you have one partition on your hard drive and it is larger than 250 GB, then it would be more correct to create two local disk. One section is specifically for Windows (usually about 50-100 GB), and the other is for storing your personal information (how much will remain, XXX GB).

Note: The partitions you create should be named Disk 0 Partition 1, 2, 3..., not “Unallocated Disk Space”. Otherwise, the operating system simply will not see sections with such names.

If necessary, create a section or sections and click “Apply”:

Attention: at this stage problems may arise - when Windows 7 asks for a driver for further installation or when the system does not see your hard drive to continue the installation.

Or install (if prepared) hard disk controller drivers. If you already have two or more partitions on your hard drive, then you can skip the above point. So, we have selected the “System” section, and now we need to start formatting.

The installer warns that all our data will be deleted. This is what we need, because we are interested in a clean installation of Windows. We agree and wait. Usually the whole process takes a matter of seconds. After formatting, we see that there is more free space, calmly click “Next”.

And here is the beginning of the installation, the process has started. You can already exhale).

We're waiting... Usually it takes 15–25 minutes. When our system is installed, it will prompt you to enter your username and computer name. Let's enter.

If you wish, you can enter a password and a hint. Next, Windows will prompt you to enter serial number. Enter (if available). If not, then skip this step and uncheck the “Automatically activate when connected to the Internet” checkbox.

Install OS Windows on your computer yourself is quite possible and easy. Today I will tell you about this process in detail.
There is an opinion that installing an operating system is an incredibly complex process, and in this case it is impossible to do without a specialist. This is a massive misconception, and I will try to prove it to you in this instruction.

Here's everything you need for such an operation:

  • computer (laptop)
  • installation disk with Windows OS (these operating systems will be discussed today)
  • step-by-step instructions (this article is what it is)
  • and, of course, attentiveness!

Worth knowing: installation problems Windows may arise if installation disk was recorded incorrectly or the build quality of the operating system on it leaves much to be desired.

If you had to use an installation disk that was not from the original box of your device and you bought it in a store, then make sure that you purchase the original disk. It can also be found on the Internet. This will be the key to correct installation of the operating system and its successful functioning in the future.

It is strongly recommended not to use disks with assemblies of “free artists” during installation; they may contain errors that are incompatible with the life of the computer or laptop. If you decide to install from such a disk, you do so only at your own risk. The consequences of such actions may become irreversible.

I also advise you not to use disks for installation. Windows There are several reasons for this:

  • Discs become unusable over time (Abrasions can damage the disc).
  • Installing from a disk will take much longer than installing using a flash drive.
  • Disks cost money (This is especially true if you need to install the system a couple of times, they also have a bad impact on the environment).

Therefore, I advise you to burn your installation flash drive with Windows according to this instruction: How to burn Windows to a USB flash drive for installation (If installing from a flash drive, in the instructions, instead of the drive with the disk, select the flash drive you recorded).

Preparing for installation

First you need to decide in which partition of the hard drive you will place this system, as a rule, this is the C:\ drive. Before starting the installation, be sure to make sure that there is no important personal, work or other information left on the C:/ drive or on the Desktop (which is also located on this drive). All files that you would like to keep must be transferred to removable media or just move it from the C:\ drive. Because everything on this disk will be completely lost.

Programs located here will also be lost. But you shouldn’t move all this to other segments or removable drives. It will be much more convenient to install all the software again on your clean new system.

Important point! Before you start installing the OS, be sure to take care of the drivers; your device will need them. Drivers are usually included with computer equipment and laptops. But if there are no such discs in your set, it’s okay. You can find them on the Internet and download them; it is better to use the official websites.

There is no guarantee that the updated Windows will be equipped with the drivers required by your network card. In such a case, you may lose the ability to access the Internet. Also, the device may lose the ability to reproduce sounds, etc.

Let's move on to the beginning of the installation

To begin, insert the installation disk into the drive. Windows files and start the process of rebooting your device. If your device does not have a disk drive, there is no need to panic; the operating system can be installed using the same scheme from a flash drive or other removable media.

The next step is to help the computer boot from the connected device. There are two methods: select a DVD disc in the boot menu, or change the priority in the BIOS from the hard drive to the disc from the drive.

The second method is less convenient, because After installing the OS, you will have to change the boot priority again. First way additional actions won't require it. On some not very new computers, unfortunately, you won’t be able to use the first method, so only through the BIOS.

So let's get started!

The reboot process has begun. As soon as signs of life appear on the monitor and you see the logo, press and hold the key F8.

It is worth mentioning here that this key is not the only one that allows you to enter the boot menu. It is also possible to use other keys or groups of keys. Unfortunately, this process is not universal, so it is better to clarify this nuance in the instructions for your motherboard.

Here good list keys that fit different models motherboards (Look at the third column “Boot menu key”):

Now you have reached the boot menu. All that remains is to select the download source from the list provided.

If you have done everything correctly so far, and the installation disk is of high quality, then the download will begin immediately after selecting the disk. This is the first method I described - through the installation menu.

Now let's pay attention to the BIOS method. In this case, when you reboot, a prompt " Press DEL to enter setup", as you understand, to enter the BIOS, you just need to press Delete. If up to this point you have done everything correctly, then you already see a shell that is very reminiscent of old DOS.

There may be minor differences in the interface of this shell, depending on the author, but the controls are standard in all versions: use the arrows, +/- and Enter.

Let's see how to behave in the menu from the AMI authors

Enter the Boot menu, then select Boot Device Priority. This is where we will change the priority of your computer so that it boots from the installation disk, and not from its hard drive. To do this, use the navigation keys to move the CD/DVD drive to the top line of the list. After installing the OS, don’t forget to return everything to its place.

Now let's take a moment for the Phoenix-Award version

Here, to change priorities, you need to make the DVD drive become the download source. We enter the point " Advanced BIOS Features" and navigation keys " First Boot Device"change to" CDROM".

I hope everything worked out for you at this stage! Let's continue.

Now everyone should see a window with the following content: " Press any key to boot from CD or DVD".

Press absolutely any key of your choice (Except for the shutdown and restart key).

Attention: you need to press once and only here and now!

The next step is to see the "" window .

The files are now being extracted. Next, a window appears with the text " Starting Windows"And finally, the Windows operating system installation process window!!!

Let's stop for a second, select a user-friendly language and continue with the installation.

The next step is to select the edition of the operating system. Select the edition for which there is a key or which you are activating. If you have a laptop, you can find the key on a sticker on the bottom of your device. The serial number is not needed yet, it will come in handy at the end of our process.

A little about the numbers:

  • if your computer’s RAM exceeds 4 GB, then we will install the 64-bit version;
  • If the device's RAM is less than 4 GB, then the 32-bit (86) version is suitable.

Our next step is to familiarize ourselves with and agree to the proposed clauses of the license. After which you have to select the type of installation of the system, we need " Full installation".

Then we do what we talked about at the beginning, select a partition to install our Windows.

It happens that the required partition is reserved by your system (then the unit of measurement will be MB, not GB). In this case, select Disk 0 Partition 2.

To be on the safe side, before starting the installation process, you should look at how much space is allocated to the C:\ drive.

If your HDD consists of one partition, but at the same time exceeds 250 GB, it would be better to divide it into two parts: one personally for the OS (50-100 GB in size), the other for your information.

Mini instructions on how to create a partition on a disk during installation Windows:

Important!!! Don’t call sections “empty space” or “don’t go here.” Label drives and partitions with numbers. Otherwise, the system simply will not detect these sections.

At this step (if not already done) we create a section and Apply the changes.

If in this part of the installation Windows 7 asks you for a driver or is unable to independently detect the hard drive of your system, it is recommended to manually switch the operating mode of the SATA controller from AHCI to IDE by returning to the BIOS.

Or, if you were ready for this, install the hard disk controller driver.

If your hard drive already has more than one partition, then you can simply skip the above point. Just select the System section and allow formatting.

Now we will see a message that frightens some, threatening to delete all of our data that has been acquired for so long. But this is our goal, we want to install a new and clean operating system! Therefore, we agree and wait a few more seconds. At the next stage we see a global increase in the number free memory and move on to Next.

Here the actual installation process starts - we did it!

After 20-25 minutes of waiting, the system has completed the installation and asks you to enter your device login and user login - we obey.

If necessary, you can add a password and code word.

Next, you will need a serial number (if available) or skip this item by unchecking the auto-activation box when establishing contact with the Internet.

Adapt the security settings to suit you (If you hack Windows then I strongly recommend choosing the last item - “Postpone decision”).

We deal with the time zone of stay.

If the device has contact with the Internet and the network card driver is active, the system will ask you to specify the type of network.

All! The installation process is complete! And your device is now brand new and clean!

There is one last step left, for those who changed priorities in the BIOS, you need to return booting from the hard drive (HDD) there.

The instructions are quite lengthy, but this should not make you scared and give up. After all, it describes in detail many small points for different versions, which in your particular case will not be needed.

The article was created for all categories of users, including beginners who will be installing the Windows operating system on their own for the first time.
That's all! 😉

Successful Windows installation.

If you still have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments to this article and the author will definitely answer you.

If you are a beginner, then simply follow the guide from start to finish: each point is described in as much detail as possible and includes links to supporting instructions.

What should be ready before installation

Review the list below to ensure your computer and system are ready for installation or reinstalling Windows 7 and complete the necessary steps to complete the preparation.

What types of installation are there, how to save personal files and programs

There are two types of installation:
  • A complete reinstallation of the operating system (OS), which completely erases a hard drive partition (or the entire drive), including all your programs, documents and files.
  • An OS update that only updates system files.
Updating the OS has a number of disadvantages. Therefore, it is recommended to perform a complete reinstallation of the system, and for this you will need to save all personal files and program settings.

If you haven't done this yet, read the article on preparing for installation, from it you will learn:

  • how to save all important personal data;
  • what programs will be needed immediately after installation and where to download them;
  • is it possible to copy installed drivers where to find drivers after installation;
  • analysis of some special cases;
Save all data and proceed to the next step.

How to legally download the original image of Windows 7 x64 or x32 for free.

Download original image can be done legally using the program « Windows ISO Downloader": the file with the Windows image will be downloaded with Microsoft official website.

Program file "Windows ISO Downloader" with version 5.21 (dated September 20, 2017) is attached to the article (to the right of this text).
How to download the image correctly is shown in the figure below:

Select Windows partition 7, then the desired edition Windows image 7 and the “Confirm” button.

Attention!
We strongly we do not recommend enjoy Windows builds 7 – use only original system images.

Microsoft Company has several aircraft hangars of various equipment designed to test the operation of the operating system on various combinations of devices. Therefore, the official OS image works correctly for the vast majority of users.

The authors of assemblies do not have such testing capabilities, so a certain percentage of users will experience problems during the operation of the assembly, which can only be resolved by completely reinstalling Windows.

Which image version to choose: 32 bit or 64 bit

Everything is very simple: a 64-bit OS is needed in two cases: so that the computer can “see” 4GB or more of RAM and so that you can work with “heavy” programs or games. Attention!
Some new programs and games may not run on 32-bit Windows.
Conclusions:

  • If the amount of RAM is 4GB or more, feel free to choose x64 (64 bits).
  • If the computer is old and complex programs (for example, audio and video editors, design systems, multimedia packages) are not used, choose x32 (32 bits).
More detailed information The difference between a 32-bit and a 64-bit operating system is presented in this article.

The easiest way to see how much RAM you have is to click right key mouse on the icon "My computer" → select item "Properties" V context menu.

The window that opens will indicate the amount of RAM, as well as the bit capacity of the system currently installed.

Which version of Windows 7 should I choose: Home, Professional or Ultimate?

There are different versions (editions) of Windows 7, some of which are very different in functionality. You can read more about Windows versions.

Most often, when installing, they choose between versions of “ Professional " And " Ultimate ».
The best choice in terms of image version would be « Windows 7 Professional » .
But don't worry if you have a different Windows edition– the installation process will be similar.
In the edition " Professional " Unlike "Ultimate" there are a number of services that most users will never use.
You probably haven't even heard their names: DirectAccess, Unix Application Launch Subsystem, BranchCache, BitLocker, etc. Accordingly, hard disk space version « Professional » will take less.

How to properly burn an image to a DVD or USB flash drive?

If you have already recorded the image and the installation from it went smoothly, then you can immediately move on to the next chapter. If you don’t know which programs can be used to burn an image to a disk or flash drive, then the following auxiliary articles will help you: Please note that installation from a flash drive is more reliable and also faster. If you have a flash drive with a capacity of 4GB or more, then it is better to install from it.

Windows reinstallation process.

So, preparation for installation is complete: all personal data has been saved, the media with the operating system distribution has been created, and the partition on which the image will be installed has been prepared.

Setting boot device priority in BIOS

  1. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS.
    • on personal computers Most often, buttons are used to enter the BIOS « DELETE» (« Del»), « F2", "F1", "Esc»
    • on laptops - keys « F8", "F9", "F12", "Esc»
  2. After going to the BIOS, you need to find the menu section responsible for installing devices to boot the OS.
The partition may be located in different places (depending on the type of motherboard and BIOS version), so you need to find the menu « FIRST BOOT DEVICE », « BOOT » or « BOOT DEVICE ».
  1. You need to go to this section of the menu and set the drive to first place DVD or HDD(your Flash drive) depending on what media the image was recorded on.
  2. After this, you need to exit the BIOS and save the changes.
Most often, to save changes, you need to press the key before exiting. « F 10" , and then confirm saving by pressing « Y » or by selecting « Yes » in the dialog box.
If you have difficulty entering the BIOS, saving changes, or finding boot device priority settings, then read the article about setting parameters in the BIOS.

In the article you will find instructions with examples:

  • how to enter BIOS or UEFI with examples of different BIOS screens.
  • how to find the option "BOOT DEVICA PRIORITY".
  • table with a list of keys for entering the BIOS on laptops from different manufacturers.

Autorun Windows installation from a DVD or flash drive

If you did everything correctly, then after restarting your computer you will see the following:

  • if you are using DVD media, you will see the message “Press any key to load from CD...” (press any key to boot from CD). You must immediately press any key, because after a short amount of time (about 10 seconds) the boot will begin from the next boot device installed in the BIOS.
  • if you used a flash drive, the installation will begin immediately
Remember!
When installing an operating system, you should be careful and careful with functions that you do not fully understand.
The site administration is not responsible for the results of your actions.

Start installation

Attention!
Your computer may have gray and blue USB connectors. If you are installing the OS from a flash drive, be sure to plug the flash drive into the connector USB2.0 (gray), otherwise the installer may not see it.
You can judge that the operating system installer has started working by the line that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Figure 1. Installer Windows 7 copies files from the media for further installation of the OS.
When preparation for installation is complete, you will see the message "Starting Windows" .
After this, the Windows 7 installation window will appear.

Figure 2. Starting installation Windows 7: Select the language, time format and layout to be installed.
We will leave the time format, installed language and keyboard layout unchanged (as shown in Figure 2). Click on the button "Further" , after which you can start the process by clicking on the button "Install" .

Selecting the installation type

  • A system update will allow you to reinstall Windows on top of your existing operating system.
  • A full installation will allow you to select an existing partition for installation or re-partition the hard drive. The system will be completely installed, so this option more acceptable (we wrote more about installation types at the beginning of the article).

Figure 5. Selecting the operating system installation type.
Choose "Full installation (advanced options)", as shown in Figure 5.

Figure 6. Selecting a hard drive for further installation Windows 7.

Hard disk partitions for system installation

After proceeding to the full installation, we will be presented with a list hard drives, on which you can create or select partitions for installation. At this step there may be several options for the development of events.

  • You only have one hard drive in your system.
  • You have a separate hard drive (possibly an SSD) where the operating system will be installed, and separate drives for storing data.
  • The installer does not see the hard drive or other errors occur (below are links to articles that discuss these problems step by step)
Attention!
If you have several hard drives, then transfer all important data to the drive where you will store personal files and disconnect it so as not to accidentally mix up the drives when creating partitions or formatting.
If you only have one hard drive (or SSD), then it is advisable to split it into parts (if the disk space allows it).

The disk must be divided into parts so that at least 50GB is allocated for the system, possibly even more, because for normal Windows operation 7, it is desirable that the system partition has at least 15-20% free space.
The disk is divided into partitions to make it easier to reinstall the operating system in the future.

For example, you have only 1 hard drive in your computer with a capacity of 500GB.

You split it into 2 parts: 120GB (disk " C:") and 380GB (Disk " D)

Now on disk « D you store music, movies, photos, program installers, folders with drivers, games, etc., and on the disk « C you install programs to work.

Files from the “Desktop” and “My Documents” folders are also stored on the disk « C:». When in the future you want to reinstall Windows, you just need to transfer (copy) all important files from the desktop and other disk folders « C to disk « D, then do a complete reinstallation with disk formatting « C.
If the disk is not partitioned, then you will have nowhere to transfer data from the disk « C:», and you won't be able to format it.

Creating disk partitions

At this step, you can create partitions on your hard drive if:

  • the hard drive is not partitioned (new or all partitions were previously deleted);
  • There are no important files on the hard drive, and all information can be deleted.
New hard the disk is immediately displayed as a single partition and signed as “unpartitioned” (see Figure 6).
If you are going to repartition the disk (and all important files have already been transferred from it), then you need to:
  1. Sequentially delete all partitions of your disk using the button "delete" . Attention! All files on these partitions will be deleted!
  2. Select the unallocated partition that appears with the mouse, click the button "Create" (See Figure 6).
  3. Specify the size first for the system partition (which will be the disk « C ), then create a partition for the disk « D (and other disks if necessary).
If the disk was not allocated, the OS installer will additionally create a 100MB partition for storing special system files.

Selecting a partition for installation

If disk partitions have been created previously:

  1. Select the system partition (on which the OS was previously installed).
  2. Click on the button "Format".
  3. After formatting, select the erased partition and click on the button "Further".
If the installer does not see the hard drive, requires a device driver, or other problems occur, then search for and resolve your error using these two articles:
  • Analysis of various types of errors when installing Windows 7 (including by code).
  • What to do if the installer does not see the device (drive, hard drive, keyboard or mouse, etc.).
In Figure 6 you can see an unallocated 35 GB disk.

Figure 7. Creating a partition on the hard drive
In our case, no partition has been created yet, so we need to click on the button "Create" (Figure 7), then indicate the volume of the partition to be created (Figure 8) and click on the button "Apply" .

Figure 8. Selecting the volume for a partition on the hard drive

Figure 9. Partition creation confirmation window
After this, the operating system installer will inform you that an additional partition will be created to store system files:

Figure 10. Installing Windows 7.
Click on the button "Further", after which the installation will begin (copying all system files and the process of setting up the OS).

The process of copying files will take 15-30 minutes and will not require any action from you.

Figure 11. Installation completion window
Once the files are copied and unpacked, the computer will restart.

At this point, you must remove the DVD or Flash drive from the computer, as the installation will continue from the hard drive to which the necessary files were copied.

After the reboot, you will see a window indicating that the installation is complete.

Figure 12. Entering the username and network name of the computer for the installed system.
The completion process will take a few minutes, after which the initial setup of the operating system will begin.

Completing Windows installation and initial setup

When the setup process is complete, you will be prompted to enter a username to create your account, as well as the computer name for subsequent network identification (under this name your computer will be visible in local Windows networks).

Next, you will be prompted to enter a password and a password hint. If you want to protect access to your account with a password, enter it. Or you can skip this step by clicking the button "Further" .

I first encountered the question of how to install Windows on a computer at checkout 4. There was no Internet where I lived, so this question was especially difficult for me. At the end of 4th grade, my father bought me a book, I don’t remember exactly what it was called, something like “Master a Computer from A to Z”

It was a big book. It was difficult for me to install Windows on my computer for the first time, but thanks to her I was able to do it. If the process of installing the operating system causes difficulties for you, then I suggest reading my article from which you will learn all the details about installing Windows. Please note that all versions of Windows have a similar installation process, so I will not focus on a specific version of Windows OS. I’ll say right away that thanks to the convenient and understandable interface, installing Windows will not cause much difficulty, the most important thing is not to interfere with the system being installed on the computer.

Don’t be afraid even a schoolboy can handle installing the OS, I could do it, so you can too.

Before we move on to the practical part of the article, I would like to prepare you.

The preparatory stage of installing Windows on a computer

Each of us is so accustomed to a PC that most files: photos, videos, documents, music are stored on the computer. Many of us store files in standard folders Videos, Images, Documents, Music, Contacts, etc., which are located in the drive (C:). Why did I say all this, besides the fact that we need to save our information on external media: disks, flash drives, portable hard drives.

  • Files that are on the desktop.

I think that up to this point, everything is clear. Go ahead.

To install windows on a computer we need a disk with Windows distribution. I'll explain what it is. This is the disk from which we will install Windows.

“Where can I find him?” you asked to yourself.

You can find it on the Internet, but most likely you will download a pirated one.

A few upload rules:

  • You must have Anti-Virus installed
  • When choosing a distribution, choose clean builds, i.e. you don’t need, for example, Windows and adding someone else’s assembly. It is impossible to say 100% that there are no viruses.

Of course, it is better to buy a licensed disc Windows. Don't think that if you download a pirated version, that means you're saving money. No, usually a pirated build does not work for more than 2-3 months, while a licensed one can work uninterruptedly for several years. Also, licensed software provides updates, which is also important.

If you downloaded Windows from the Internet, then you probably noticed that the file you downloaded is in .iso or .mdf format. Don't be afraid, this is normal. This is a disk image. You just need to write it down.

We will need the Alcohol 120% program. Use the old method, download from the same Internet.

Algorithm for installing windows on a computer

1. Insert our disk into the drive and restart the computer.

2. After our computer has turned off and started to boot again, press the del button until it appears BIOS menu. Finding the section Advanced Bios Featured or something related to the word Bios. Next look First Boot Device, That’s how it is for me, yours may be something different, but the meaning will be Hard disc. Change it to CD-ROM.

3. Now our disk will open when you restart the computer. Our disk has opened and we are given the opportunity to choose an installation method, select Automatic installation windows. Yes, if available Automatic installation with all drivers, then choose this method. We will have to wait 10 minutes, depending on everyone, for some this moment passes in 2-3 minutes, and for others in 10-20 minutes. Do not worry.

4. Preparation for installation has been completed. Now the installation of Windows on the computer begins. Before us blue screen, we need to select the partition in which we will install Windows. You should always select the drive (C:). If you saved all necessary information of this disk on external media, then everything is fine, if not, then cancel the installation by pressing the F3 button, since it is impossible to restore later, or rather, it is possible, but you will have to spend a lot of money.

We selected the drive (C:). We are offered to format the drive. We are not afraid of anything, we format it.
Format in NTFS or NTFS fast. And press Enter.

5. At this point, your participation in installing windows stops. You don’t have to do anything further, but it’s better to check every 10 minutes.

Personally, at this moment I go off to watch TV for about 40 minutes, depending on the power of the computer, the time may vary.

40 minutes later I go to the computer and hurray, the Windows installation is complete!

Errors when trying to install Windows on a computer

  • After formatting the disk is completed and new files are copied to it, the computer will restart and our disk will open. Your actions are such that you are afraid that if you press again Automatic installation then the installation will start from the beginning. Yes it is. Your actions should be " don’t press anything, just wait, it will close itself«
  • When installing Windows, a sign may appear asking you to select drivers. You don’t know which ones to choose and cancel Windows installation. Your actions should be like this: “Select all drivers and click OK«
  • If you install licensed Windows, then you will also have to register it. Many users, due to inattention, do not know where this registration code is. Usually the registration code is on the disc box.

Now you also know how to install Windows on your computer. It's actually easy. If you have any problems, write in the comments. I will be happy to answer.
