Hello dear readers of Trasbox.ru! Surely each of you has encountered the first launch Android devices and many are not particularly avid Google users couldn’t understand what this or that resource was for, whether to trust it or not? In this article I will describe the first one in as much detail as possible. Android launch systems and basic functions. Oldfrags and advanced users can skip this article, and for beginners or simply interested people, please follow the cut!

First, I'll tell you a little about the system itself.
Android is a mobile operating system based on the Linux kernel. The main developer is Google. It is the most popular operating system in the world. Almost every major manufacturing company produces its own Android smartphones or tablets, and every manufacturer is trying to add something of its own to its product. Most manufacturers change the user interface with proprietary shells, some more, some less, the manufacturer tries to make its shell “unique” by adding functions such as gesture control, Knock-Knock (double tap on the screen turns it on), probably the most famous shells are:
Samsung - Touch Wiz

LG - LG UI

HTC- HTC Sense

In most cases, the manufacturer updates the shell version after a major Android updates, making it more like pure Android.

In addition to the version itself, Android also has its own personal “name”, which goes alphabetically from “A” to “Z”:

  • Android 1.0 "Apple Pie"
  • Android 1.1 "Banana Bread"
  • Android 1.5 "Cupcake"
  • Android 1.6 "Donut"
  • Android 2.0 / 2.1 "Eclair" (Eclair)
  • Android 2.2 "Froyo" (Frozen yogurt)
  • Android 2.3.x "Gingerbread"
  • Android 3.x “Honeycomb”, by the way this is the only version operating system which never came into widespread use.
  • Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”
  • Android 4.1 / 4.2 / 4.3 “Jelly Bean”
  • Android 4.4 “KitKat” (Kit Kat, yes, yes, the well-known chocolate candy from Nestle)
I would also like to mention that each smartphone has its own version of the processor architecture, which is denoted by the abbreviation ARM (Advanced RISC Machine).
  • ARM 5, an extremely rare processor architecture, based on this moment not a single smartphone is available for sale, one such device is Alcatel OT-890.
  • ARM 6, an outdated technology, is not very common, but some devices are still on sale, a prime example Tom Samsung Galaxy Young.
  • ARM 7, the most commonly found processor architecture at the moment, is installed in both flagships and budget devices.
  • ARM 8, not a single device on sale at the moment, Nexus 8 is expected to ship with x64 bit Nvidia processor Tegra K1.
Now let's move on to the very essence of the article, I would like to warn you in advance that before turning on for the first time it is advisable not to insert a SIM card, since by default the system Mobile Internet is enabled and this may result in unexpected traffic costs. The screenshots were taken on a phone with a custom firmware CyanogenMod 11 (you will find out what this is in the next issues), so on some devices both the process of first launch and further use may not differ significantly.
After you turn on your device for the first time, you will be asked to select a language, each device may have a different number of languages, in European versions devices always have Russian, English and Ukrainian languages.

After you have selected the language you need, feel free to click the “Next” button, after which you will be prompted to create a Google account, if you are not interested in this, you can skip this, but keep in mind that you will not be able to fully use branded using Google. Such as Play Market, GMail, Google+ and others.

If you still decide to create an account, you should click “Set up a Google account”, after which you will be prompted to create new account, or use an existing one.

After you click the “Set up Google account” button, the following window will appear in front of you, I would like to say that if you create your Google account, you can freely and without restrictions use 16GB of free “cloud” space, thanks to this you can set up photo synchronization that will upload your photos to the cloud at the first opportunity.

Next, you will need to indicate your email address, it is advisable to sit for a while and come up with a login for yourself; I consider the best option to be your last name, first name and year of registration (for example, VladIvanov14).
After registering an email account, you will not be able to change your email address!

Also, if it turns out that this name is already registered, Google will offer you to choose from the existing list of unregistered names!

After which you will need to fill in the fields with your password.

Next, you will be asked to set up a Google account password recovery; this is not necessary, but you can enter your data if you wish.
When filling out the fields you will be asked for your phone number!
There is no need to be afraid and your phone number will remain confidential!

You will also be asked for rights to access your location, you have four options:

  1. Disables the function completely.
  2. Enable the function completely (traffic + battery charge)
  3. Enable location search using GPS satellites (consumes a lot of battery)
  4. By network coordinates (not the most accurate method, consumes a lot of traffic)
Your location will not be reported to third parties; only applications that need it will be able to use it!

Then a settings window will appear in front of you, consisting of the following items:

  • Backup and restore, meaning if you replace your phone or delete all the settings on the old one, you can restore passwords, settings and the like. Also Google Play will automatically start downloading applications that were on your smartphone!
  • Location data: This option is required for tools such as Google Now And remote access(which we'll talk about later)

Then you will need to enter the captcha!

After this, you only have to configure additional Google services such as Google+ and auto-uploading photos (in fact, they are connected)
Attention, this function may lead to increased traffic, I recommend setting the download only when connected to Wi-Fi!

Also if you have VISA card, Pay Pal or similar, you can link it to Google account! This option will allow you to buy games, programs and music in special service Google Play!
If you do not have a VISA card, you can get one by registering a QIWI Wallet!

As a final step, you will need to enter your time zone, date and time!

Now you can fully use your Android smartphone!

After the first launch, you will have a desktop in front of you; it consists of a work area, a notification panel and a quick access panel; on some smartphones there may be a panel of navigation keys instead of the main ones.

You can add or remove applications or widgets on the work surface by long pressing on them and moving up.

In the menu you will see all the applications that you have, the pages change by swiping left and right.

If you want to move any application to the desktop, long-press on it and move it wherever you need it!

By swiping down from the curtain, you can move it away; while using the smartphone, various notifications will appear there; you can remove them by swiping to the right or left and move it down.

Also on Android 4.2+ there is a panel quick settings, you can get to it by clicking on the special icon in the right corner; you can freely customize the quick settings panel to suit yourself by removing or adding special fields.

But, if you have an Android smartphone with a version lower than 4.2, then you should have a slightly different quick settings panel

Thank you all for your attention! I would like to hear your opinion about this topic and what should be written in the next issue!

Most people, when buying a smartphone, assume that they will be able to install many programs on it, improve performance and speed, but the main thing is to customize the phone to suit their needs. Flexibility of modern software is such that you can choose not just programs, but also individual firmware, both official and third-party. In this material, we would like to talk about the required minimum of programs for Android, each of them makes life easier - these are the best of the best. Some of these programs will suit you, some will not, but you will get a general idea of what you can do with your device. Unfortunately, most smartphone users have no idea what can be done with them or how to change them. Let's try to correct this omission. Go.

What is root access and why do you need it?

Obtaining root rights for an Android smartphone is similar to administrator rights on a regular PC. You will be able to install any programs and perform almost any action with your phone. At your own risk, but as a rule, with the right approach it is not scary and simple. If you don’t know why you might need root access, then I’ll give myself as an example. When I change phones often, I don’t want to have to transfer all the programs, settings, and data by hand each time. For this there is a program Titanium BackUp, it can save the state of the phone according to a certain schedule and I can actually create a clone of my device. Unfortunately, this program requires root rights to run.

Another example is the voice dialing built into my phone from the manufacturer, which is rigidly tied to pressing the center key. Disable it using standard methods It’s impossible, but the number of erroneous clicks is huge and it’s annoying. Using root access, I simply uninstalled the corresponding program; I don’t need it. There are many such examples; with root access you get full control over the phone.

How and when to do it. Instructions for obtaining root access for specific models There are many phones on the Internet. I recommend that you carefully read the instructions for your phone and model. Also, you should understand that you will lose the warranty, and there is a chance of ruining the phone in an unfortunate set of circumstances. Also, when using most methods, you will be faced with the fact that all data on the phone will be deleted. Therefore, it is logical to decide whether you will root or not even before you completely set up the phone. Ideally, this should be done on a new device.

If you don’t even decide to root, then there’s nothing wrong with that; setting up your Android smartphone is very easy and without any special operations. Let's figure out how.

We customize the appearance of the phone - wallpaper, lock screen, skin

In Android, you can literally customize every element of your phone's appearance; no tricks are required for this. Let's start with something simple, choosing a wallpaper that will decorate your desktop. Considering that, as a rule, a large number of icons and widgets are placed on the desktop and they are often translucent, it is necessary to select light or dark pictures. Otherwise, you won't see important information. Since the pictures quickly become boring, I change them from time to time.

IN Android is great interactive or “live” wallpaper is an animation that changes depending on the time of day or events. Quickly looking through the list of such wallpapers on my phone, I found a dozen downloaded - a forest with trees in the snow, a sunrise, the core of the galaxy, a pond with fish and plants, weather for your city. As you can see, the choice is very large. I won’t provide links to all these wallpapers; they are easy to find in the Android Market and are free.

Sometimes I get tired of animation and want something calm and new. In this case, the PicSpeed Wallpaper program comes to the rescue. It has several thousand wallpapers, you can set the picture in different modes - on one screen, on several, on several with an offset. No special movements are required; you can make a list of your favorite pictures. And again everything is free.

For those who are annoyed that after pressing the phone's power button, the unlock screen appears and you again have to make unnecessary movements, you can install a program for automatic unlocking (as an option, Auto Unlock from Iwashi Soft). For me this is not relevant, as it is always worth graphic key unlock (a standard security option on Android, you draw a pattern on the screen to unlock the phone). But even when using an unlock key, you can improve the ergonomics of the interface and add new functions. But more on that below, for now I’ll move on to the program, which I consider one of the most successful for Android -.

I don't know for what reason best programs for Android cost nothing. This remains a mystery to me, since similar programs for other platforms simply do not exist as a class, and if they exist, they can do much less and are obscenely expensive. So, Go Launcher (there is an EX version, the second one is better), this is a shell that changes appearance your phone beyond recognition. Whether you need a different main menu, standby mode, unlock screen, etc., I don't know. For myself, I came to the conclusion that this program is vital for me and there are several reasons for this.

The first reason is that in the main menu you can create folders for programs that collect everything that I don’t need all the time. The second reason, which refutes the first, is that you can place a branded widget on Go Launcher desktops, which will have small application shortcuts and fast access to them. The workspace is distributed much better, and applications can be closed with one touch, as well as clearing the phone’s memory (and you can specify which applications are not closed). It turns out that from now on I don’t need the main menu so often; I manage desktops.

I won’t say anything about how many design themes there are for this shell. You can customize it for any modern OS, you can choose completely unusual types of desktop. But the main thing, perhaps, is not that the interface of this program is aesthetically close to me and it looks beautiful. It has many applications that enhance the capabilities of my device by an order of magnitude. For example, the first thing I installed was Go Locker, this is the unlock screen where you can select various actions and it can be designed in different ways. Both HTC Sense and Android 4 are copied, and they simply have their own unique versions of this application.

A description of all the features of Go Launcher will take more than one page of text; the shell is very comfortable, fast and stable. A large number of widgets allow you to customize the device for yourself. I recommend the program with all my heart.

Contacts, calls, messages

For many people it becomes a revelation that it is possible to replace the standard phone book, a dialer, and also an application for sending messages. I'll start with a small utility - Russian Operators. When you call, the screen displays information about which operator’s number they are calling you from, and also indicates from which city or region. This is convenient when they call you from other cities, you will understand that you are calling back long-distance and pay accordingly.

IN Samsung phones The general list of calls is implemented rather inconveniently; it displays both SMS and voice calls. Considering that I receive a lot of SMS from social networks, using the phone becomes inconvenient. For me, the solution was the DW Contacts/DW Phone program. In this program, I am less interested in contacts and more interested in the dialer. First of all, a convenient list of calls, favorites, and so on. Unfortunately, the program does not have a very beautiful interface, which is somewhat annoying. But the functionality of this solution is very high. In particular, it is possible to configure call filters (black list), search by name and number, convenient presentation, integration with various messaging services (WhatsApp is built into the phone book). Another advantage is that you can search for information not only using regular fields, but also additional ones. Therefore, I made a Solomon decision, my contacts remained standard, but I use the DW Phone dialer.

My requirements for a messaging program are not very complicated. The need for individual alerts depending on the number, the ability to archive messages both on the phone and outside it, a private folder into which messages from certain recipients are automatically sent. The external attractiveness of the interface plays a role, but is not decisive.

It’s not at all surprising that I came across the Go SMS Pro program (it’s free, from the same developers who created Go Launcher). One of the disadvantages that must be mentioned right away is that the program has a very large set of settings, and if you select a mode with all the capabilities, then not the weakest phone will begin to slow down (which, in my opinion, is unacceptable). Therefore, we choose the simplest operating mode, since all options are available in it; you just have to go into the program menu to call it.

The appearance is customizable, there is a filter by words or sender number. It is possible to enter certain numbers into a private folder; to access you must enter a password. The status line displays a message icon and a number indicating the total number of messages. System warnings can be replaced with those in the program. When typing, you can use a regular or pop-up window; there are additional sets of emoticons. The list goes on and on. I don't recommend using Go Chat, it is compatible with Facebook Chat, but in my case it caused speed issues.

In general, the Go SMS Pro program allows you to work with SMS/MMS at a completely different level. Sometimes I like the presence of a blacklist, as well as the ability to remove notifications from network services, because I don't need them.

In addition to this program, I use SMS Backup & Restore, a utility that allows you to save all your messages on a memory card. But SMS Backup to Gmail creates a copy of your correspondence on Gmail. There are many similar programs; as a rule, the disadvantage of free ones is that they do not save MMS.

Mail and browser

Built-in email clients for Android are sufficient for most users, but you always want something better, don't you? For example, you can look at a program like ProfiMail, it came to Android from Symbian and is actively developing on this platform. The program is paid, so for many this will be a limitation. The program of our compatriot AquaMail has taken root with me. Limitation in demon paid version by two mailboxes(and I just need two), when sending, an inscription appears in the signature that this program was used (this does not annoy me, I write very little from my phone). Among the advantages that are obvious are support for filters, a fairly fast and easy interface. Functionally superior to Android programs, but the main thing is that the developer is constantly tweaking something and working on his program.

The situation with the browser is that there are several programs, but an alternative to Dolphin Browser HD has not yet appeared. The beauty of this browser is that it is fast, has many add-ons to suit every taste, automatically syncs bookmarks with your desktop browser and can pretend regular browser from a PC (which is important for viewing pages without switching to mobile versions). From additional features which you instantly get used to, I’ll note the control using gestures and quick access to certain pages. The browser also deserves a lot detailed review, for now I’ll just recommend him, he’s definitely the best. I didn't notice any problems with stability.

Music and radio

It seems to me that when discussing music it is difficult to find two people whose tastes coincide one hundred percent, it is possible that this feature of human nature is transferred to the choice of music players for their phones. What can you come up with for a regular player that manufacturers have not implemented today? A lot, as practice shows. Considering that most of my music collection is stored in iTunes (a lot was purchased there), my initial question was how to synchronize these files from Android smartphones (the second iPhone phone, this question was not there initially). While searching for a player, I came across DoubleTwist, this program is getting better month by month. The free version has everything you need for life, including streaming music to game consoles and AirPlay support, plus the ability to download tracks from iTunes from a PC (you can set a number of restrictions, for example, on volume). The program is nice and quite convenient; the paid version includes the download of Album Art, support for equalizers and a number of other goodies. But also free version, more than functional. Recently, the program has also included video viewing. Another plus is that you can download podcasts in the program (without a PC).

The second and favorite player is Power AMP, it is paid, but inexpensive (about 5 dollars). The advantages include support for a large number of formats and the presence of FLAC. I use it to listen to FLAC, although I sometimes use the equalizers here as they improve the sound. Externally, the player is pleasant, although sometimes it seems that it is a little heavy (when listening, there are slight brakes in the interface). What I use is downloading song lyrics (I use the MUSIXMATCH service). Overall a solid five, this player is one of the most popular for mobile devices.

To identify music that I heard somewhere and don’t know, I use two programs - Shazam and SoundHound. Their capabilities are equivalent, but greater additional options in SoundHound, you can immediately find a video on YouTube, learn more about the artists, and so on. In a word, I recommend it.

For listening to podcasts, there is a wonderful program called BeyondPod (paid), or you can use Pocket Casts (also paid - $3). Both programs are good, you can choose either one, they differ in details. In my experience, synchronizing podcasts from my PC is enough for me, although sometimes they need to be downloaded directly to my phone.

I won’t talk about Last.FM and other similar services; the applications are free and you can easily find them.

Healthy lifestyle and sports

A completely optional set of programs that everyone will have their own. However, I’ll still risk telling you about the programs that I like. I'll start with the Libra weight manager, it allows you to record your weight and shows how it changes. Enough convenient program, there is a widget. It’s very simply and tastefully done, nothing superfluous, which is what captivates.

The times when the Internet was available only to a few, and its speed and price left much to be desired, are long gone. Today, everyone can, regardless of the services of which operator cellular communication he uses it. Mobile providers provide their customers with the opportunity to access the Internet through network modes such as EDGE, 3G or 4G. A wide variety of tariff plans and special options allow the subscriber to choose the most optimal offer for himself. Despite the fact that today the Internet is available to all segments of the population, many still do not know how to set up the Internet on their phone.

In principle, you do not need to make any settings as such. The operators made sure that everything went smoothly automatic mode with minimal subscriber participation. Typically, the operator sends automatic settings to the phone immediately after the first launch. That is, if you bought new phone or SIM card, then after turning on the device, after a while you will receive an SMS with automatic settings. Moreover, sometimes accessing the Internet from your phone is possible without accepting these settings. If this does not happen in your case, which is also possible, then you need to order GPRS settings. The methods for obtaining Internet settings will differ depending on which operator you use. Below we provide instructions for setting up the Internet on MTS, Beeline and Megafon phones. These are the most popular operators in Russia and most Russians use their services, so they are included in our review. If you have a different provider, then get necessary information you can on the official website of the operator.

How to set up Internet on your phone - detailed instructions

Before setting up the Internet on your phone, you should make sure whether your device supports the ability to access the global network. Almost all modern phones now have this capability. If you have a smartphone or tablet, then access to the Internet will definitely be possible. Internet connection is also provided on regular phones. It's very easy to check. If your device has a browser, then you can access the Internet from this phone. Some may consider this information too banal and unnecessary, but among our readers there are also those who are just beginning to get acquainted with the capabilities of mobile devices, so a small omission should have been made. So, let's look at the process of setting up the Internet using the example of the most popular mobile operators in Russia.

Setting up the Internet on MTS

If, after installing the SIM card and turning on the phone, you still cannot wait for the automatic settings, and you cannot connect to the Internet, then you need to order the settings yourself. This is quite simple to do, just send an empty SMS to number 1234, after which several service SMS with Internet settings will be sent to your phone. In addition, you can order settings on the MTS website in the “Help and Maintenance” section. You can use it in a similar way.

There is another way to set up the Internet on your phone. Call the customer support center and follow the prompts from the automatic informant to order the settings. If you have a lot of free time, you can ask him to send service SMS messages to your phone with necessary settings. If the option with automatic settings does not suit you for certain reasons, then you can configure the Internet manually. Don’t be alarmed, there is nothing complicated about this and you can easily cope with this task.

To set up the Internet on MTS, go to your phone settings, open the “Wireless Network” section and fill out the fields as follows:

  • Profile name – MTS Internet;
  • Access point (or APN) – internet.mts.ru;
  • Data channel – GPRS;
  • Username and password – mts.

Save the settings and restart your phone, after which you can go online.

Setting up the Internet on Beeline

If you don’t know how to set up the Internet on your Beeline phone and the automatic settings didn’t arrive, then just like in the previous case, you can do everything yourself. First of all, you should check whether you have activated the “Package of Three Services” service; to do this, call the number 067409. If the service is not connected, then this factor may be the reason for the inability to access the Internet. The service is activated using a USSD request: *110*181#. If the “Package of three services” is activated, then order automatic settings by calling the number 0117. You can also order settings by calling 0611. Again, you can ask him to send you settings for the Internet, but in this case you will have to spend time waiting for a specialist’s response.

To configure everything manually, in your phone settings, open the “Wireless Network” section and do everything as follows (usually the information is provided by default):

  • Name - Beeline Internet;
  • APN - internet.beeline.ru;
  • Login - beeline;
  • Password - beeline;
  • Network type - IPv4;
  • Authentication type - PAP;
  • APN type - default.

Setting up the Internet on Megafon

To order automatic Internet settings on Megafon, send an SMS with the number “1” to 5049. After a while you will receive an SMS with your profile settings. All you have to do is accept them and you will be able to use them global network. You can get the settings. But of course you can use help desk. To do this, call 0500 and follow the prompts from the automatic informant. In addition, you can connect with a specialist. allows you to get answers to any questions, including numbers and Internet settings, but before using this method, do not forget that waiting for a specialist’s response can take a lot of time.

To configure everything manually, go to your phone’s settings x open the “Wireless Network” section, then fill out the fields as follows:

  • Profile name – MegaFon Internet;
  • Home page – http://www.megafon.ru/;
  • Access point – internet;
  • Authentication type – normal;
  • Login and password are not filled in.

This is where we will end this article. Now you know how to set up Internet on your phone. If you still have any questions, you can ask in the comments.

Despite the fact that, at first glance, everyone they meet has a smartphone, and, surprisingly, everyone around them, their number in our country has not yet reached a critical level. According to the latest data from operators, modern devices, which can be called smart (I don’t know if Nokia with a flashlight is enough smart device) own about 40% of the total number of subscribers in Ukraine. That is, 60% (children who cannot be given something expensive and difficult because they will lose it or break it; old people who do not need new technologies; and simply poor people, of which there are a lot) do not yet have the opportunity to use smartphones and are seen as a potential audience for operators and manufacturers.

We predict events and are fully aware that gg can be read not only by smartphone owners, but also by owners of regular push-button phones who still want something more modern. And it is precisely for such readers (whom we respect and love no less than geeks) that advice for newcomers to the world of smartphones is intended.

We will not claim total objectivity, but, according to our observations, these actions are the most correct and necessary when a person begins to use something new in his life.

  1. Read the instructions. Yes, it sounds crazy - who reads the instructions - but it is very useful. You will immediately understand how to use non-obvious functions and will not pester others (including on the Internet) to tell you how to use this or that function. Plus, you'll know what to expect from your smartphone. It is very important to know where this or that function is located without the help of instructions or hints on how to do this or that action, how to quickly turn on or off some setting or protocol (for example, turn off the mobile Internet, turn on Bluetooth).
  2. Before inserting a SIM card into your smartphone, carefully read your tariff. When you didn't need the Internet, you could be served in this tariff plan, which implied payment per megabyte. Now you can choose and switch to a package that has a certain amount of Internet, and you won’t burn all your money in your account at once.
  3. Remove the protective films from the screen immediately. Don't fall into the Soviet habit of wrapping the remote control for your TV or VCR in a bag. If you are concerned about the safety of the screen, buy a high-quality protective film, but the supplied films must be removed from the device immediately after purchase.
  4. Look on YouTube to see how the interfaces of different devices differ. For example, if you have some kind of smartphone from NTS (which has one of the best, in our opinion, simple HTC Sense shells) or something like a smartphone for reasonable money Meizu MX4 http://price.ua/meizu/meizu_mx4_16gb /catc52m713612.html with its own simple and intuitive interface, unlike others, then you have nothing to worry about - you will understand the controls easily. If you have something from Samsung or LG, which have their own shells, which are often confusing and sophisticated (for an untrained user they are often complex), then you should look towards third-party launchers - customizable shells to simplify communication with the device.
  5. Distribute your expectations from a smartphone by function: music, video, photo, social media. Now go to the application market and look at the top programs in these areas. Don’t install the first one you come across, look at several, compare features and screenshots, and decide on the program. Personally, I can recommend the following: music player - PowerAmp, video - MX Player, photo processing (if there are few built-in ones on VKontakte or Instagram) - Aviary, cleaning the device of garbage and cache - CCleaner, but for social networks or services, use native ones (that is , proprietary from the manufacturer) applications.
  6. During the first week, you will definitely be unhappy that your smartphone is quickly discharged. Why shouldn’t it discharge quickly if you are constantly clicking and clicking something in it? When you have played with it and use it as usual, it will enter normal operating mode and will serve you for as long as prescribed (a day or a day and a half to two, depending on the model). The main rule is to charge your smartphone at night, because there is nothing worse when the device has 3% charge in the morning because you forgot to charge it - and you already have to go to work.
  7. If you take photographs with a smartphone, read materials on how best to do it. The Internet is full of tips on how to take a high-quality photo with smartphone cameras, how to use photo social networks (for example, Instagram) in order to unlock the potential of both you as a photographer and your smartphone as a device. Yes, and don’t forget to enable auto-upload of your photos to the cloud - this way they won’t be lost, even if something happens to your smartphone.
  8. Learn how to help or protect yourself and your loved ones using the capabilities of your smartphone. For example, if someone in your family already has a smartphone, you can become friends with them on Google+ and then, if necessary, see where your relative is on the map. Or install an application (from your bank or Wallet), with which you can top up the account of your loved ones if they do not have money. Smartphones can be useful for things that everyone tries not to think about (for example, finding out when a person was last online - Viber shows this; or where and when he was - you can look at maps on Google+), and these functions can save your nerves or help you find a person.
  9. Don't forget about hygiene: sometimes smartphones are dirtier than the handle of a public toilet stall. Wipe the body with hygienic antibacterial wipes and keep the glass of the camera or front camera clean - tiny, invisible grease marks on the lenses can significantly degrade the quality of a photo or video.

  • Select Import/Export from the drop-down menu

The Android operating system is characterized by complete freedom in terms of customization. On your new phone you can change the background, change font sizes, install live wallpapers with beautiful animations and much more. However, we recommend that you start personalizing your gadget by installing widgets. These are interface elements, essentially mini-programs that display necessary information and provide quick access to certain functions.

IN system settings Android provides several groups of widgets, for example, clock, calendar, weather, news, inclusion wireless networks and so on. To install them, press and hold your finger on an empty space on the desktop and select “Widgets” in the customization menu. And then just select the programs that you need and drag them to your desktop. Please note that each widget has its own working area, for example 4 by 2, 2 by 2 or 1 by 1. Considering the size of the widget, you can most conveniently place them on the screen.

Backing up media files

Considering the capabilities of high-quality cameras in modern smartphones, the gadget’s memory becomes full of memorable pictures or videos in a matter of days. Even if your mobile phone has a memory card of several tens of gigabytes installed, it is just a matter of time before it becomes full.

In order not to be faced with the need to clear your storage of media files at the most inopportune moment by transferring them, for example, to a PC, you can use system application Google Photos. It allows you to configure automatic backup photographs and videos on Google drive. This means that after you take a photo, it will be copied to cloud storage. The main thing is to turn on mobile or Wi-Fi Internet.

  1. Make sure you are connected to your Google Account
  2. Select the Google Photos app
  3. Login to your account
  4. In the top left corner, click on the drop-down menu
  5. Open Settings
  6. Enable backup

In the same section of the menu, you can select the quality of photos to copy to disk. The user sets either initial quality or high quality. In the latter case, the system slightly optimizes the media files, compressing their size.

By default, Google Photos makes copies of files from the main camera folder. However, if you wish, you can set up additional directories that will be synchronized with the application, for example, Instagram photos or screenshots.

With a separate command in the menu, you can delete all pictures and videos that were copied to Google Photos. This will allow you to simultaneously free up space in your phone’s memory and not worry about deleting a valuable photo.

Many users want to avoid being disturbed by calls, messages or notifications on certain days or times. In order not to delve into the settings of sound profiles every time, you just need to set up the Do Not Disturb mode once in your new phone. For this:

  • Open the Profiles section in settings
  • Select "Do not disturb"
  • Click the "Rules" button

Here you can select a preset time when the phone will switch in silent mode, for example, on a weeknight or weekend. Each profile sets the days, time and type of mute (Important only, alarm only and complete silence). By selecting “Only important”, you can specify specific numbers from which the sound will be turned on when calling or SMS. The user can also set a new rule, for example, for an evening walk, a date, a trip to the cinema, or a child’s nap.
